2022 March Madness WBB - Aliyah Boston - Naismith Player of The Year Interview

nay Smith Player of the Year and defensive player of the year Aaliyah Boston secures both and Aaliyah where does this rank amongst all of your accolades in your entire career I mean this one ranks pretty high just because I mean Nate Smith is I mean wow it's people dream of getting this and so be able to get this for play of the year and defensive player of the year is just such a blessing and I thank God you're the first player in South Carolina history to become both what makes Aaliyah Boston so dominant to secure both of these Awards I mean it just says a lot about costal and the program and just being able to develop um kids and be able to De develop me into a defensive player of the year and National Player of the Year and you are the double double Queen for South Carolina this entire nation what makes you so dominant and also what's the Legacy that you're leaving behind at South Carolina I think something that makes me just so dominant is just understanding the other team and what they want to do so I need to be where they want to be and a legacy is just I don't know I mean anything just everything that I've done I would hope to leave back I saw that your family was here in attendance what was that moment like as you shared uh that with them and was able to embrace them afterwards I mean it was really special I mean just thinking about me leaving home in the age of 12 and so my parents are just coming up here for and tournament be able to watch me get this award it's a blessing and then Don Staley I mean you all swept in all the awards in this award ceremony but she is the coach of the year what's it like being a coached by a legend of her status I mean it's amazing I wouldn't trade it for the world Co has been able to help me with everything basketball related and non-basketball related and to see her get this award it's just one of the things that she deserves your entire team was in the back cheering for you the entire time what did it mean to have that support at your Sisterhood yeah I mean it meant a lot just hearing them hearing La uh scream in the background that was just really exciting we were here for it all but thank you so much aiyah Boston congrats to you you've been consistent and dominant the entire year and make sure you watch out for South Carolina in the final four follow along to all of our coverage for March Madness women's basketball
