station always fun to chat with Mike big FSU honk as well like myself so we'll both going to Dublin that should be trouble so we'll uh we'll chat about that uh coming up at 10:15 Matt Mata will join up there so we'll get uh the advantage of Matt's eyes and ears at 10:30 and we'll go over all the things that he's seen and we'll preview the preseason game as well starters not playing for the Buccaneers most of the starters how do you feel about that I'm not I'm not feeling good about that well we'll talk a little bit about that as we uh get started here in the show um also Paul Wilson's going to join us our entertainment reporter and actor extraordinaire media Mogul will join us here to talk about his new movie and some of the other movies that are out I just saw uh Deadpool and Wolverine I'm a big Deadpool F I'm not a big action movie guy you know all the Marvel and not a big you know kind of played out for me but I love Deadpool because basically it sises all of the Ridiculousness that is the superhero movies so I love that in conjunction with W Wolverine it was funny it was hilarious so we'll talk about all the entertainment things and if you guys want to uh jump in and and have some questions for Paul uh please feel free to do so and you can comment obviously on our YouTube section uh and uh and Facebook as well so do that jump on in here with any of the comments that you have um so we'll do that with Paul Wilson and then our final half hour we got a couple of uh folks running for office here we have an election coming up on Tuesday and uh we're given the opportunity of some of the local folks here to get their messages out so 11:30 Rico Smith will join us and Leela Collins will join us at 11:45 some folks that uh I supporting and uh we'd hope you listen to their message and see if you like it as well so little bit of everything here on the Friday show um so sit back and enjoy we'll do lots of Tampa BAS Sports some national stuff as well some interesting stories that came up and we'll Jump Right In with bucks and Jags day two won't spend a lot of time on this because as I mentioned Matt Mato will be joining us at 10:30 we'll get a little bit more of his expertise um and it was a good day yesterday uh for Mike Evans and Chris Godwin in h this new offense and you know Baker Mayfield has been phenomenal in this preseason not perfect of course which is why I would like to see him play on Saturday night against the Jaguars he's not going to play it's going to be Kyle tras it's G to be John Wolford and that battle continues for the backup spot I think tras you know if he just plays okay he's going to secure that spot um I think if he plays like he did last week there's going to be more question marks um which I think there should be again I don't know if there's something about this offense that he doesn't like because I thought he was tremendous last preseason not good enough to supplant Baker Mayfield as the starter but I was very confident in him as a backup in fact lobbied for him to play the final game against the Carolina Panthers when clearly Baker Mayfield was physically not able to go uh the Bucks were lucky to win that game having a touchdown and a couple of other big plays called back by the Panthers and had they lost that game they don't make the playoffs um and it's a complete disaster and I think Kyle tras probably would have fared better in that game um but they didn't they went with Baker the more and let the defense win the game and that's what they did um you know I I can second guess it but Todd BS was right because they won the game Kyle tras may have come in and thrown three picks and then you lose the game so obviously Todd Bull's a lot smarter than me or I don't know who knows if TR well he is smarter than me there's no question about that but would tras have played better I don't know we don't know that's what I've liked I would have liked to have seen tras play the last four years there were a couple opportunities the final game of 22 when Tom Brady wanted to play that game um it's completely meaningless I would have liked to seen Kyle tra play that game but we've not seen Kyle tras play any meaningful snaps except What U about half a maybe two series when Baker went down last year and it's just not enough sample size and what we've seen this Camp to me his inaccuracies have been embellished had a couple of good throws Yesterday by all reports but again I want to see him Master this offense in game two and I want to see him stop putting the ball in danger as a backup quarterback I mentioned this many times you don't want the guy to come you don't need the guy to come in and throw for 350 yards and four touchdowns what you need to him to do is not lose the game especially when you have what I believe is going to be a top 10 defense in a really good run game from the Buccaneers this year you don't need a guy uh that you need to carry you you need a guy who's not going to make mistakes and so far that's been more John Wolford than it has been Kyle tras and I look at this Camp it's this Camp folks it's not last camp it's not anything else Wolford has had way more meaningful snaps in the NFL has played in a playoff game has has started what three games two three games in the league Kyle tras is not so again I do think it's a competition BS confirmed that and now um I think it's important for both of those guys to play but I would have liked to seen Baker for at least a series or two you look around the league lot you know lots of starting quarterbacks are playing and you know it's it's about what the co coach want and Bs has always been a very cautious guy when it comes to that so you're not going to see any of the big time starters U which means none of them are going to get hurt that's the biggest thing I totally get that but again when the season starts if this offense is struggling with the players that they have and the place the offensive line that they've put in place I believe with grah Barton starting I think it's going to be like it's going to be a very successful offense but I don't want to see it get off to a slow start cost you a couple games in the beginning of the year because you're not out there doing live stuff even the joint practices are not are not much different than the regular practices they're not tackling to the ground there's not a whole lot of hitting the quarterback certainly aren't getting hit the receivers aren't aren't getting popped and that makes a difference a little more physical with the joint practices but from what I've seen not to the point where you're going to have that in your mind the way it's going to happen when the real bullets fly in game time yeah I don't mind saying that metaphor everybody knows what it means doesn't mean you're shooting at people you can still use that if you like I'm okay with it hope you are um all right so we'll see what happens with bucks and Jags and want to SC More on on uh on that as we get to Matt Matera at 10:30 um I wanted to say a quick note about this yesterday Sam Ponder who I absolutely adore on on ESPN one of my favorite personalities um obviously NFL live Sunday Morning Show I think she does a fantastic job really really good and RG3 too uh both fired by ESPN right before football season odd timing for sure for RG3 it was really odd timing because he also came out in support of Florida State somewhat after Paul Fine bomb's idiotic comments uh went viral the other day and I think RG3 was all one of the more reasonable voices during the snub of FSU which of course was hugely high on the ESPN propaganda agenda it was a in my opinion a code red it was a hit it was a hit job in the college football playoff you guys know how I feel about that and I think that's backed up by all the monetary evidence and what we've seen since it was the elevation of the SEC brand over a brand that was trying to take hundreds of millions of dollars out of ESPN's pocket because they were trying to get out of that grant of rights in the C and continue to do so and will so now now we've learned that that grant of rights is um nicely put as uh what's a word am I looking for here it's phony in a lot of ways and it was um the ACC had to go against their own Constitution Jim Jim Phillips and approve an extension that clearly the bylaws say takes a 23ds vote of the conference he didn't go to the conference Commissioners because he knew he knew it would have failed so he circumvented that by illegally signing off on something that he had no business or authority to sign off on unilaterally and that was the extension that he did in 2021 so that will prove to be part of this whole ESPN FSU deal and and RG3 what came out in support and that that's not the agenda and when you go off the talking points you will be summarily dismissed we've seen that from a lot of different folks and Sam Ponder you know I was just watching Sage Steel talk about this we know what stage steel went through with um ESPN and S Ponder is a very devout Christian um also an FSU supporter and also was about the only person one of the few people on uh ESPN that supported women's sports when it came to transgender participation again very off message for ESPN and you can't tell me that these aren't the reasons that they were fired why why were they fired RG3 was a rising star he was on every show they could put him on until he started going off message then you saw curtail a little bit Sam Ponder what has she done wrong to suddenly get fired out of all the people it's what's consistent at ESPN is if you are a devout Christian uh and you espouse any of that if you don't go by the by their agenda which we all know leans way left then you are going to be dismissed and that for for for a network and I know a lot of people aren't going to talk about this they don't want to talk about this but we're going to we're going to continue to talk about it because I think a lot of you share the same views that I share and I'm not going to be scared about talking about it and if you don't agree with my opinion that is fine and I had people on Twitter coming at me had a lot of people support me when I put this up there last night about both of them um being dismissed but there were detractors obviously and that's fine I get it but that's my opinion and you got you have to come and tell me your opinion and show me the evidence of what they did to get fired for cause what happened think it's pretty sad uh let me get through a couple quick comments here um before we hit the quick break and get Mike Bell on in my opinion they should play the starters the lions are close at hand I agree I agree I think you got to get guys ready for tackle football I really do JP I don't mind them not playing I hate to see a player who won't be on a roster in two weeks playing recklessly trying to make the team injur Baker or any other starter it's a great Point easy it's a great point and it's the risk you take um but it's the risk you take playing football you know football is football and as Mike Tomlin says um we gota you know we got to get ready if you're gonna box you gotta Spar you gotta take the hits and I I not you don't have to be egregious about I'm not saying Baker needs to play you know into the second half but get them a few series out there let them work on their timing let them work on some of these things that the newness of the offense and I know joint practices are great and they try to simulate as much as possible a real game but it's not a real game and it's also the receivers getting hit it's the running backs getting hit and not fumbling it's the linebackers that need to tackle people to the ground it's the defensive backs that need to tackle people to the ground you got to get used to it or you there's no way you could be uh at your best in weeks one two and three I just don't think you can and I think this team needs to get off to a good start One Missed tackle that could be the difference between a win and a loss so it it's listen you can always quantify when you play your starters and something goes wrong because somebody gets hurt what's hard to quantify is when you don't play your starters and how much poorly you're playing early in the season if you go look at the Bucks yeah they W they won at Minnesota they did the offense certainly wasn't great you know you look at the offense in the first quarter of the Season it wasn't great there were other reasons for that as well uh new offensive coordinator new quarterback all that as well all the more reason I think you should be playing and and getting guys used to it not a lot but a little and not doing it uh Rick said join [Laughter] practice join practice why didn't you say so I'm on the way Randy Gregory Rick your snarky comments are always welcome here my friend absolutely love it all right we're going to take a quick break when we come back Mike Bell's going to join us from 929 the game in Atlanta and we're going to talk about the Falcons who made another big move um last night getting all right welcome back to the JP Peterson show it's time to talk a little NFC South Falcons football with my good buddy Mike Bell from 929 the game in Atlanta what's up Mike how are you my friend hey JP what's going on Tampa I see you're ready for your uh Dublin trip I will see you at a bar in Temple Bar in Dublin on Friday evening we shall share a pint wait my friend yes or two 10 um how are you partner good man really excited there's a real Buzz yesterday in Falcons camp with the moves first off getting a pass rusher and I don't know about you know how much you know about the Falcons historically but the Red Zone has been The Dead Zone and the pass rush has been basically nowhere for much of my 26 years as a Falcons fan so Matthew Judah even on a one-year Pro it deal seems like a real boost for this defense and then we pick up Simmons arguably the best safety combination in the NFL yeah that was two big moves and Jude on was something that we had been talking about when he became available if that's something that the Bucks want to do and um they're they're confident that diabi and brazwell their new second round pick will bring some pass rush but I gotta say I think most Buccaneer fans would say why didn't we go get youon I think there's a there's a feeling and then to hear the Falcons got him a bit of a kick in the buck chunk I gotta say well we were talking about this on the a yesterday talking about who is the big opponent you know obviously the Carolina is a work in progress the Saints are kind of just mediocre but the the Bucks you know I mean you kind of ran it back right I mean there were a couple of additions you kept your offensive line in piece in place I should say you still have a good defense you know Baker Mayfield I mean I think it comes down to I can see both of us you know talking Falcons and Bucks having 10 or 11 points this year I agreed I think it's going to be I think the Bucks uh at the beginning of training camp were the better team now with these two additions I might slide over to the Falcons but I think it's going to be a dog fight uh the Bucks obviously have a tougher schedule with the first place schedule and I think that might be the difference but you you're telling me that the vibe out there is is a big deal and and talk a little bit more about cousins and all that because I hear you know penx is making some noise as well look penx looks great I'll still never understand the decision to me it's one or the other but I guess they just were not in love with any of the defensive pieces remember latu Leu was the first guy to go and that was at 15 you know the only guy who's really making noise at least Camp Buzz is Jared verse with the Rams apparently he's just killing it but I think Florida State fans expected that and Dallas Turner you he didn't really pop at Alabama but he just blew everybody away at the combine regardless JP I've been covering you know the NFL going back to my time in South Florida with the dolphins I've never met a more engaging Dynamic personality than Kurt Cousins if you watched him on Netflix and you saw on the quarterbacks I mean it kind of took you behind the curtain just give you a quick example uh the other day we're waiting to talk to drg London one of the wide receivers and Kurt Cousins is going into the media room and he's being pulled by Falcons PR got like you know the scrum ready to go and he sees us I go how you doing Superstar and he goes hey man he goes you guys afternoon drive right because we we had the radio shirts on we start chatting he goes yeah I've probably heard you guys in the air and we start next thing you know he goes you think we're gonna ever get an NHL team back here in Atlanta and I swear to God Carl my partner at Carl Dukes next you know we're talking all about the NHL and the exion fee meanwhile you know the Falcons PR is like let's go we got go I mean the dude is like the most likable guy like I know the buzz on him he hasn't won the big one I think you can say the same things about him you that was said about Matthew Stafford from his time in Detroit to LA but I mean there are so many good likable guys on this squad another one of them was a guy named Bran Trice he was our Edge rusher we drafted out of Washington he was a defensive captain penx was the offensive Captain yeah he he blows his knee out in the Dolphins uh game preseason so that also kind of put them on the clock to go beef up the pass R because tce was going to be a big part of that rotation right yeah I feel like the Falcons got a lot better in those two uh with those two veteran additions and um now it's just a matter of I I think first year coaches all you know historically struggle but they usually take over bad rosters that's why they struggle this is not a bad roster in Atlanta clearly so what's your take on Raw so far dude you know you know him from his time in Tampa Bay he is totally infectious uh you know Dan Dan Quinn was like the captain of the Titanic nothing to see here that iceberg is not gonna raw isn't as over the top as as Dan is but he is a positive energy guy he's a No Nonsense guy and all Camp long he's actually had the sort of gleam in his eyes if he knows something the media doesn't know about this team remember JP we're kind of like the Browns in the sense we've had all these top 10 picks and we just haven't been able to do anything Drake London has got an edge this guy comes to practice I mean he's got some dog in him he feels like hey this is year three in the NFL I'm not a I'm not a brand name nobody knows who I am outside of Atlanta he's fired up Kyle pittz was a thousand yard receiver he looks the best shape he's been in last year his knee was still not 100% and then Bean Robinson oh he's a beast dude he's ready to go we're at practice I mean the offensive Squad everybody the reserves all go who as he makes another guy basically fall out of his jockstrap with one of his Cuts so we've got the Christian mcaffrey type guy we've got the weapons we got the the difficult to match up you know wide receiver Darnell money maybe not a household name was a thousand yard receiver in Chicago big speed guy him and cousins have a big report so the point I'm getting to is we got all these pieces we never had the delivery system right because because Mariota was a bum there's just no way around it and Ritter was just in over his head so all all that together with cousins you got something special yeah I I think you guys have the roster you got to put it together on the field which is something the Falcons have always just struggled to do for the most part for whatever reason organizationally um and we you know for me I'm like we got to see it the Bucks still I think have a good roster uh and they've done it they've won the they've won the South it how bad it is I get it but they've done it and they won a playoff game last year so these two games are going to be huge and I cannot wait they going to be fantastic I got bad news for well probably good news for Falcon fans the game here is going to be our creamsickle game right and while that fires the fans up we play like [ __ ] in creamsicles we play like creamsickle Buccaneer when we're and I hate him I love him as a fashion statement I hate when we wear them because we suck so and we did it for the Falcons game so I think that was a good choice I still love those years I spent all my summers in Newport Richie at my grandma's house you beautiful they're my favorite Unis I mean I like I still love the Tampa Bay bandits always will you know Bandit ball right but this I mean we wear the Throwbacks the red lids with the gold strip which isut it's glass black black Jersey white Bridges and we generally suck in those jerseys too so I don't know history sucks for both of us for the most part and when we go back to it it seems we fit right in with those things anyway partner I'll see you in Dublin thanks for jumping on uh and I think we're going to be coming up there for that Falcons game as well eron go BR we'll see you in D absolutely Shanta great Mike Bell right there check him out at 929 the game um all right we're going to take a quick break here Matt Mata is in uh the bullpen here I see him right there ready to go quick break we'll come back and talk bucks and Jags joint practices he's been man I'm doing great JP how are you good good I know uh the pter report guys been in Jacksonville I know were you there have you been in Jacksonville yeah yeah of course yeah been there the last two practices and then little day off in between before the game yeah nicely done I did you have your backdrop there as well so you travel with that as well look how prepared you guys are I love it we we have travel this time yeah trying to put on the uh the best visual for everybody I know this face doesn't usually do it for uh the fans so got to bring the pr background love it absolutely fantastic all right give us a little uh advantage of your eyes and ears the past couple of days what stood out uh who stood out for you in these joint practices yeah well starting on Wednesday I think based on the amount of time off that the Buccaneers had between um you know their their preseason game against the Bengals and having a day off then an afternoon practice on Monday followed by another day off uh the day oh no we have WiFi fade A little sluggish and a little flat on Wednesday Antoine Winfield Jr even mentioned that when we spoke to him after Wednesday's practice so the Jaguars kind of took it the Jaguars kind of took it to the Buccaneers can you hear me yeah I can it's a little faded but go go right ahead go right ahead it's picking back up as Nathan Elliott said Matt has fallen into the Matrix gotcha so the the Jaguars took it to the bucks on that on that Wednesday practice a little bit uh Brian Thomas from the Jacksonville Jaguars was really uh really taking advantage of of the secondary for the bucks kind of beating them in in one-on-one situations um Thursday Tampa Bay was able to pick it up a little bit more one guy that's really excited a guy that's trying to make this team he was injured the past couple of days Johnson he may end up being the fifth or the sixth wide receiver for the bucks he's just an electric Factory watching him out there he's tiny but he is so quick so fast excellent footwork kind of reminds me a little bit footwork wise like Antonio Brown how he's able to just slip away from a Defender but he's been really exciting to watch yeah you know I I say this all the time and it's why I love going to practices I wish I would have been able to get to Jacksonville is you know when you put your your own eyes on it um it's different and in some with some players and cam Johnson's one of those guys um I would love to see him get a lot of run in this game so we could see him under the lights because that could change things as well but from what I've seen in practice you know he moves a lot like an Antonio Brown and I know and I know that's High Praise but you still got to be able to catch the ball in traffic you still got to be able to run routes you still got to be able to do the professional wide receiver things that make the difference and I want to see that in a game do you think cam Johnson's gon to get some run in this game I I think if you wants to make this team he has to you know play on on Saturday and of course it doesn't seem like the Bucks are going to play many of their starters once again based on all the work that they got with the Jaguars so he was wearing that non- contct Jersey but I think he even understands if he wants to make this team he can't just go off of hype and a couple of good practices you have to prove it in the game too so they've been kind of slowly taking him along I I'd be willing to say that he's probably going to play in this game unless that ribbon is is really really affecting him that much but the fact that he's been out there the past couple of days he's fighting for a roster spot certainly not like it secured so I I at least hope that we see him because he's been really fun yeah I I would too so uh the word is Baker's not gonna play um is it tras first and then Wolford like last week or will Wolford start the first half is as B said one way or another uh BS has been very vague on everything when it comes to person El who's going to play he did he did mention before the Bucks got to Jacksonville that he's leaning on playing the starters uh in the third game and based on just the Reps that everyone got obviously Baker got the first ones but Kyle TR got way more reps than John Wolford did so I'd be very surprised if they started with Walford just based on the amount that Kyle TR was playing against Jacksonville over the last two days so it seems like it'll be a lot of Kyle TR with John Wolford mixed in as well who a lot of jaguars media was talking about him I guess he's from the area so uh you know there's a big a big deal about the hometown kid coming home I got it I got it how did Wilford look and how did Kyle tras looked the last couple days so Kyle tras had two interceptions in yesterday's practice but one of them came off of a tipped pass at the line of scrimmage so that wasn't necessarily his fault the first interception he had um he kind of overthrew Co Keith and it was a little behind him it is one of those I'd be very curious if it was just an overthrow by Kyle tras or was he expecting Keith to kind of take his route a little bit further down the field and as we know K Keith isn't the most agile tight end receiver so Kyle TR overall he's pretty much been the same that we've seen really since he came to Tampa Bay he doesn't take a lot of chances he finds the open receiver kind of a check down Charlie however he did have the play of the game of the practice yesterday throwing a deep ball to Trey Palmer for a a 40 to 50 yard touchdown just a great route by Trey Palmer who did struggle in these joint training camp practices a couple of drops on Wednesday but he was able to keep his head in practice and and make that great play beating two Defenders on it and trash through a beautiful ball so trash was pretty solid outside of the interceptions nothing you know outrageous but uh nothing to really be Too Furious about either uh Wolford was pretty good in Red Zone Seven on sevens I understand there's no pass rush and you got take it with a little bit of grain of salt but tras and Wolford have both been finding Cody Thompson A Lot Number 83 on the Buccaneers a guy again that's fighting to get one of those last roster spots at wide receiver but he's been consistent throughout camp and that's more you can say about Cameron Johnson it's obviously more you can say about Sterling Shepard who's been injured for the past week so I don't know if Cody Thompson's going to make this team but he's been very consistent I've been pleasantly surprised what we've seen from him so the quarterbacks were overall solid and they're finding chemistry with those you know sixth seventh eigh string guys and uh also I read where Baker Mayfield and um Chris uh Chris Godwin and Mike Evans I mean we know who they are but it's also nice to get that confirmation going up against the Jags and and from what I hear they both had pretty big days yesterday Mike Evans for sure just throughout this whole joint training camp and yeah I don't need to sit here and tell you how great Mike Evans is but there's just something a little bit different now that Baker and Mike have a full whole year under their belt working together I mean when they were working in the red zone and goal line that first day on Wednesday I mean every single Target went to Mike Evans didn't matter if he was open if he wasn't open I mean one time the Jaguars put a linebacker on Mike Evans I like I almost laughed to myself in front of everybody in the fans like what are you doing putting a linebacker on Mike Evans uh but Mike scored several touchdowns on Wednesday on Thursday uh not as much Red Zone work but 11 on 11 you know at the middle of the field and everything and Mike and Baker are playing pitch and catch I mean honestly Baker could be looking to the right and then he just looks to the left and Bam throws it to Mike it's one of those he doesn't even need to think about it he just knows Mike is going to be open if teams do not double team Mike Evans I don't know their defensive coordinator should be fired on the spot like it's one of those things Mike is just creating separation so easily they're using him in motion more one of the touchdowns that he had and it's on our social media he was in motion on one side went across it was almost like a pick play and if you're getting Mike wide open for even two seconds that's more than enough time to get him the football and make a play so I love what I'm seeing from Baker and Mike you already knew it was going to be good but it it somehow raised another level I love to hear you say you know Mike in motion because that's not something we've seen over the years and I love that move him around don't let him you know has to get off the jam teams know exactly where he is it's much you know easier to have someone over the top of him when he's in the same spot you start moving him around and now coverag is coverage is changed you got to fli either you know go straight manto man you've got to flip it flip the coverage you've got to make an adjustments when he's on the move so that's another kind of wrinkle in that Liam Cohen offense that I think is GNA help Mike and of course you know what they're doing with with Chris in the slot with the in the puka neua uh type slot that's that's going to be a huge production spot as well I would believe what do you think oh absolutely I'm very excited for Chris gin going back to the slot where he truly dominated in 2019 and you know was even fantastic all the way up to 2021 before he uh he tore his ACL and you know even Baker was talking about after practice how much comfortable or more comfortable I should say Chris Godwin looks even though he's a couple of years uh removed from that injury he hasn't had the splashiest training camp so far but Godwin I think is one of those guys that always shows up on game day and the fact that he's uh in a new position is very important and and beneficial to the Buccaneers and the fact that they have more options and weapons at wide receiver with the addition of Jaylen McMillan I think is really going to help the whole group so I'm I'm looking forward to Chris Godwin kind of you know finding a better role for himself this season it's obviously in very important year for him being a being a contract year uh but I'm not gonna doubt Chris Godwin yet he hasn't given me a reason to Matt Mata joining us here from the pter report they've been doing podcasts each and every day after practice so go back and check out those podcasts I don't know if you guys got one today I know you're doing a post game though tomorrow night correct yeah we'll have one uh we'll have one tomorrow night after after bucks Jaguars that's our next podcast love it love it um I've heard that uh at least bus talked about Chris Braswell showing up in the past few games or F past few practices and the pass rush in general what do you think it looked like in the one-on ones and and then some of the 11on 11s uh for the bucks yeah so surprisingly enough there wasn't a a lot of really any like one-on-one offensive lineman versus defensive line I was very surprised by that because we typically get that um in joint training camp practice and I will say uh I know I've said a lot of positive things about the Bucks the Jaguars got the better of the Buccaneers uh in this training camp practice like for all the things that Baker and Mike were doing well um there weren't the the Big Splash plays down the field the Deep balls that we kind of saw from the Jaguars so from a pass rushing standpoint and I should reiterate too I think the play calling for the bucks by Design on offense and defense was very vanilla I mean Todd BS watched a lot of the uh the offense over the last two days so you had Casey Rogers uh making calls on the defense and the Bucks defense really did not Blitz uh that much and it kind of reared its ugly head at times where there were moments where the pass rush wasn't getting anywhere remotely close to Trevor Lawrence and that's a little bit of a concern but you mentioned Chris brazwell uh brazwell had a really really good day especially on Wednesday recording two sacks um he's coming into his own he didn't burst onto the scene but I think that's fine you know not every rookie is going to have a Tristan wors and Antoine Winfield Jr type of sension when they get into the league so brazwell is showing some more of his physicality that is a reason why the Bucks you know wanted to draft him in the first place and Jose Ramirez um the six round pick last year from the bucks he's a guy that is showing his quickness he's getting down a nice spin move on the pass Rush as well he recorded a sack the other day as well vitaa had a sack so they've been a little too few and far between for my liking and you know that's kind of been the concern with yayad ABI out that they're not going to get to the quarterback enough with the the four and five man front but I wouldn't be too concerned about it because if the Bucks can't generate pressure from those guys up front Todd BS will come up with a thousand different ways to get to the quarterback via the blitz via Antoine Winfield Jr blitzing or Levante David whoever it is antoan Winfield Jr had a sack as well on a blitz so yes you would prefer to just see the outside linebackers defensive tackles get to the quarterback but the Bucks will find a way one way or another Matt Mata joining us here from the pter report on that note we just had Mike Bell on from 90 929 the game in Atlanta uh they're they cover the Falcons there and they're jacked up with the judon and the Simmons additions and well they should be I I think this does maybe change the balance of power in the NFC South if I'm being honest I still thought the Bucks were the were the favorite I might miss switch that now um I think those two games are going to be humongous obviously but judon was obviously out there and clearly you know the Bucks read newspapers they well maybe not newspapers yeah um but they understand and they they they saw that they had the choice to to go make a make a deal they chose not to or maybe the Falcons beat him to the punch Hassan reck is still out there where are you in the Peter Report on whether the Bucks should go and aggressively go after reic and did they make a mistake in allowing judon to get to the Falcons um and not jump on that opportunity themselves yeah as far as RIT goes it's very tantalizing for sure but the Jets have kind of already come out and said we're not trading him um where and it'd be very difficult to trade for him too because you would have to guarantee that you sign him to a deal first um and then he comes over but it doesn't seem like the Jets are interested and do you really want a guy that's disgruntled about his contract that just got traded from the Eagles now requesting a trade from a team that he's yet to put on their helmet um I don't know if I'd go there even though the production speaks for itself and I don't think the Bucks are that impressed with Hassan reck obviously he has all the numbers but every time he's gone up against the bucks he hasn't really done anything and the Bucs played each other uh for you know the past couple of Seasons obvious twice last year and he wasn't a factor in those games so the Bucks just seeing him up front haven't necessarily loved it the judon thing quite interesting because it he wouldn't have cost as much as as Hassan re but he is 31 he's going to be 32 I believe pretty soon and you know sometimes those pass rushers start falling off a cliff around that 32 year old age not every single person but I think the Bucks saw it inhouse with Shaq Barrett who obviously declined over the past couple of Seasons particularly last year and you know Shaq had a very different injury from Matthew judon but judah's coming off of an injury as well and Jason Pierre Paul before that so there is kind of that history and judon is a you know a physical type of player not necessarily known for his quickness he's a great pass rusher don't get me wrong and that's why teams like Atlanta were very interested in him but I think the Bucks feel that they kind of had that already with drafting Chris Braswell so they're kind of just getting the younger version of Matthew judon obviously he has to develop and you know he doesn't have the game experience and all that stuff that judon does but I don't think the Bucks necessarily they've done a great job like building their cap and their cap space to where it is despite all the signings that went on this offseason I don't think they want to really rewire it once again um for Hassan reic or or Matthew judon they obviously can't with judon now but there's no question it it makes Atlanta better and even if they don't win the division Atlanta I think it would be a major disappointment if they didn't make the postseason at all based on the two that they made in recent days I would agree I mean they're they're U they're loaded there's no question you know first year coaches don't typically do well um but this seems to be a different situation because first year coaches normally take over crap rosters that's why the guy got fired uh before them and that's not the case here in Atlanta raw's walking into a great situation so those two games I was just lamenting you may have heard me that we chose the Falcons game as the creamsicle game which we love the uniform but we suck when we wear them there's something about that color that doesn't spark fear in the enemy yeah it's one of those I wish they would have picked it for like playing against Carolina like I this goes for you know Scott Reynolds and I have had this conversation as well like a college football team that has that alternate ver version of of a jersey play it wear it and for a game where you're playing like a division two team or or that cupcake team that you just beat the snot out of them and you look good wear in the wearing the fancy Jersey so yeah I I I wish I wish they wore the K School Jersey for a different game based on that history however I will say Jersey aside I do think it is an advantage for the bucks that they play Atlanta twice in the month of October earlier in the season when Atlanta is still trying to figure out who they are as a team with her cousins you know at quarterback trying to figure everything out on the offense and now these new pieces on defense so I think that does help the Bucks a little bit an NFL fan I think it's kind of ridiculous that you don't have these two teams playing in December or the last week of the season but you B will take it no I think that's a good point that is that is good for them no question um I also heard the interior guys especially vitaa uh had his had their way with the Jags um in interior stuff I don't think Vita is gonna play in the game but what what are you looking forward to in terms of matchups in the game pass rush defensively for the Buccaneers yeah defensively I really love watching JJ Russell play the linebacker he's been yes he's been uh tabbed as a tackling machine and you know I really think he's going to make this team uh just based on the amount of tackles that he makes the motor that he has and you know Wednesday kind of like what I mentioned from the beginning that the Bucks were flat-footed sluggish whatever you want to say it was JJ Russell later on in practice that kind of lay toh shoulder into one of the Jaguars offensive players and the player was running down the field it wasn't like a late hit or anything like that but it was one of those you heard an extra pop everybody kind of went who you know watching it right and I think that I think I think that woke up the Bucks a little bit because even though Wednesday was pretty bad the last session of 11 on 11 is when the Buccaneers played their best so I really like watching JJ Russell I think he's um I think like I said he's got a high motor brings a lot of energy to the team brazwell Ramirez and Maris Watts the uh the outside linebacker I just want to see who kind of emerges from that group because there is going to be an opportunity for one of them to get a little bit more playing time with the yaya injury and Joe tryan Shena still really isn't participating so someone has to emerge U from that pack and then kind of the same thing with the defensive backs there's a lot of guys lobbying for only a couple of spots unfortunately Tyreek thunderberg the uned free agent corner he was in a walking boot yesterday so we don't know how long he's going to be out for again Todd BS is very vague about it yeah um so there's going to be an opportunity for a lot of these other guys whether it's um you know Rashad wisdom a lot of these players that you know Keenan Isaac who had an interception y yeah someone someone going to have a chance and who's gonna be the one to step up I think it's the big question all right partner uh appreciate your time as always Maddie uh we'll be looking forward to a Peter Report postgame podcast from Jacksonville after we watch a 7:30 kickoff uh in Jacksonville News Channel 8 you can watch it here locally thank you Maddie appreciate it Bud yeah thanks for having me on have a great day all right enjoy Jacksonville head on out to the beach best part of Jacksonville the only good part of Jacksonville back back in the day back in the day when they had the Jacksonville Landing remember that they had the the one of the the big hooters on the corner that place was popping um used to go see some concerts there who' we see I think we saw Molly Hatchet at the Jacksonville Landing that was outstanding Jackson band they're from they're from Jacksonville um great great show fantastic show but then it just like deteriorated like the last few times I've gone to Jacksonville the downtown area is like desolate terrible no no Landing no nothing so the Jack Beach is where it's all going now uh and they're building they're putting all that money into the new stadium there um and I guess I don't know if they're using the Shell of the current Stadium or they're just going to redo the whole thing but they're I think they doing a 1.5 billion dollar stadium in Jacksonville kind of a um I think it's a retractable Dome not really sure but the not not uh not one of my favorite places to go not a big not a big Jacksonville fan the paper mill smell when the winds blowing from the from Georgia no bueno but good golf really good golf obviously TPC timin's an incredible uh going up to Amelia Island uh just north of Jacksonville really really nice those are the nice Parts the rest of it you can have uh as Nathan says um The Landings was great yes the Hooters was very nicely established remember that place was kicking back in the day that was the spot The Landings in Jacksonville then the Hooters they had a couple other nice bars there as well um and then just completely fizzled out uh get to some other comments before we hit the break here uh Kenneth McClary says people get hurt in training camp it happen there too you can't hide from injuries I'm not mistaken we lost to Center in training camp and now he's retired like the saying goes [ __ ] happens yes it does that's why I say play him um you know every coach has a different take on this time I think most of the really established coaches although sha mcfay does not play any of his starters but Andy Reid does extensively um M Mike Tomlin does so but it's all you know get your team ready ready that's it you know Todd BS they had a good start winning record-wise last year so even though maybe the offense didn't play as well but um just get them going they and they need to start fast they need to start fast because that Middle season stretch is tough Nathan Elliott says Jefferson is an electric guy who's cool to talk with very grateful to be where he is which which Jefferson is that not sure who you're talking about um Ramone Jefferson Buccaneers guy had the touchdown last week Matt sounded like pain he did didn't he I'm glad we got that cleared up he's falling into the Matrix um so what did uh Christopher Cole here said who watched Devin white last night I didn't I didn't zero in on him watched a little bit of Drake May Drake May um looked good he looked really good um I uh I can't believe that they're not going to start Drake May jacobe brassette did not look good I I get I get it you know the offensive line in New England is shoty you don't want him to get uh David card you know just get sacked 75 times and lose all of his confidence you don't want that from Jake may but last night you saw the Deep shot ball to Javon Baker couldn't hold on to it but hit him right in stride um had a nice couple couple nice completions had a nice uh RPO run in the Red Zone kid can go I mean he can run he's you know he's not Lamar Jackson but he can run run when he needs to scored a touchdown I think Drake May is going to be a good player but that organization right now the Patriots are just they're floundering they're floundering they but they then again you know Karma owes them a good 20 years of suck right you had your bellich and Brady for 20 years ridiculous Dynasty so now you get 20 years or suck that's the way the NFL is supposed to work unless but you know gerod Mayo's been around there for a long time he knows the bellich way wink wink wink wink but is he willing to do it you know you ain't cheating you ain't trying that's for sure I was watching a podcast the other who was it uh I think it was Shady McCoy was on with Julian Edelman and Shady's like you know well you know you guys were cheating and we we all know that and ell J juli's like what are you talking about he's like come on man we all know what y'all were doing you know what you were doing he's like what we weren cheating that's he's like Shady's just laughing at him they know what they were doing we all know who you guys kidding um all right what else any other comments we need to get here before we hit the break uh yes Nathan Elliot uh Cameron Johnson is lighting it up every day he just he I told you he wears number nine and he reminds me of Peter War the way he moves he really does um maybe it's because of the number I don't know but he just reminds me uh that uh we'll I mean that's hype I know I but the kid could the kid could be something he just has a a little bit of something about them we'll see we'll see if it works out that's the thing about receivers you know you can watch them in practice especially in shells and they can be really really good but when they put the pads on and they start getting bumped around and hit around like for real it just they kind of disappear and that's why receivers are sometimes hard to to kind of uh especially the smaller guys it's hard to to predict how how good they're going to be when the lights come on so you got to see it in a game you know it's just different tracking a ball in a stadium um full crowds the the knowing that you when you catch that ball you could get absolutely destroyed by a safety it's just different and that's why you got to evaluate you got to evaluate running backs and receivers in live action it's really tough to to evaluate them when they're going through underwear football and when it's not live action so that's why I want to see that's why I asked Matt about cam Johnson playing in the game I want to see him play uh Christopher Cole said Devon looks like he's lost his that because he didn't record a tackle in just one series it's like he's late to to the tackle Christopher ain't nothing new Bro ain't nothing new the dude cannot play The Run he just cannot play The Run um and he's he's he will suck in Philadelphia and they will find that out very very quickly and all that Bluster will be you know that that media is going to be a hell of a lot tougher on him than the media in Tampa Bay was I know we've been tough on him for the last two years or three and we wanted him traded before last season and when you maybe could have got something for him but um I think he's going to be an absolute bust in Philadelphia Jim Baron says uh the odds of getting hurt in preseason are very small in comparison to losing the first game of the season for not being game ready 10% versus 50% I agree I agree I mean it's you can you obviously can get hurt but I that what I've seen early on all across the NFL is bad tackling especially because they don't really tackle in practice the only time they really get to do it it's in a game and if your starters don't play a lot in preseason or even a little then they they haven't they haven't made a real tackle in six months and and for ball carriers and for receivers they haven't really got hit and it you know it's like anything else you got to get used to the contact now for lineman it's it's pretty similar right the contact that they get but not for ball carriers not for quarterbacks and I think for tacklers as well and tackling has kind of become a lost AR because you don't get a lot of contact in practice anymore so you I think it's imperative that you guys get out there and do some live tackling especially the linebackers and and yeah I think but what the hell do I know um Nathan says Patriots coach did a great job stopping uh Philly on fourth in short multiple times oh so without Jaylen Herz the tush push isn't the tush push huh yeah because when the quarterback squats 750 pounds it makes a difference when he squats as much as the lineman he can get a pretty good drive all right we will take a break and when we come back we're gonna have a little fun here in our second hour Paul Wilson our uh resident media critic and actor Wilson family joining us here what's up partner how are you keep going I like that keep going yeah yeah FSU graduate go NOS absolutely how are you partner um good my canoe is drying out from um our little tropical storm um that I was I had the occasion to canoe down short Boulevard that was kind of fun luckily luckily it wasn't in my house but sadly it was in others and um I shouldn't be laughing but we no it's it's just but what's interesting is that you know I think just kind of we're we're we're just those people that live there that want to stay there you know you're just battle tested and it's just it's really kind of a neat community that gets together like all right let's go here comes the rain that's right well is there any like I know you're spending a lot of money on that brand new stadium that's really gonna help but stormwater storm water um Plumbing might could probably use a little money spent on that down there pelis County over there in St Pete huh well the city has done a a pretty good job I will say especially in that neighborhood with some relief pumps and just trying to kind of abate that the problem is when you got high tide and you know it's it's I almost don't want to say it out loud but when we have those High higher Tides luckily we don't have a king tide like we did the last time right um and I I mean I literally walked out of my front door and stepped right into the water the water yeah uh it that was a bad one but you know um problem is was just there's I think I think honestly sound like a you know Pinko liberal it's global warming and the entire world is sinking into the water because we have too many cars on the road and too much building and blah blah blah blah blah but you know welcome to well didn't didn't that guy who invented the Internet tell us that in 2010 Florida was going to be completely underwater yeah uh VI president Al Gore of course yeah it didn't happen yeah and it's interesting because I saw something the other day about how Florida like in the 16 1700s Florida was as wide as like Alabama to the North Carolina coast yeah yeah so you know it's the way it works but has nothing to do with you you driving a Mustang there's nothing to do with that probably not in case you didn't know although it is a gas Puzzler so there's that pass anything on the road but a gas station and I'm so what's going so uh tell us uh what's going on in your world the movie is out on Netflix right dear Camp 86 Camp 86 yeah it's on um I don't think it's on Netflix yet we're kind of Staggering it but it's on Amazon Prime okay I got that other spots it's a fun little romp that I think people will enjoy especially here as many parents are getting their homes back as school returns um so now you can watch a fun romp of a movie that uses some you know questionable language but it's all fake right um it's a we had a good time made it up in Michigan almost four years ago during covid so we might have been the only one in production during covid don't tell anybody that that's horrible no we all had masks good yeah we all got shot yeah well sorry sorry to hear that enjoy your turbo cancer yeah all right so what else is going on in the media world right now um that that that's I went and saw Wolverine at Deadpool I'm I am not a superhero fan as you know I like the movie become just so cliche you can't kill anybody right but then that I think that's the beauty of Deadpool it's like completely satirical about everything that is superhero movies and he makes fun of all of it and he breaks the fort wall and all that fun stuff I absolutely freaking adore Deadpool and Wolverine made it even better have you seen the movie yet oh yeah that how about that moment at the end where he brings it down it's like that there he is why did we why did we wait 20 years to see that but you right right no I thought and you're right and and what's interesting what's really great about that entire franchise I mean now both of those movies cross the billion doll Mark yes and I think the first one was the first R-rated Disney movie Disney Marvel movie that reached a billion dollars um but you know and that that was never supposed to happen that movie was never supposed to get made they did tests they did way back in the first one kind of fun really yes and Ryan Reynolds allegedly leaked the test online and then people went berserk because they loved it uh oh we maybe we should make this movie and then two billion dollars later yep yeah but a fun you know and I think it's I think it's also you know it is kind of the anti-superhero movie you're right but it's got so much crazy nostalgia in it too yes yes and he I mean there's nobody maybe Chris Tucker but there's nobody that has the smart mouth like him and just runs with it you know he's so good at that yeah just he's so good at that what what do you think like I see I watch him and when he goes on one of his little rants there and I'm like how many takes when he get when he he can go for like 45 seconds of just non-stop just RI one riff right after another to insult to insult to horrible insult connect them all perfectly and I'm like that is effing genius I know it's silly and stupid but it's from an actor's perspective is that not just [ __ ] pure genius I love it well I think you know again that movie the second one was made with a little bit of a thing called a strike actually two strikes and because Ryan Reynolds was credited as a writer he was already on strike before the actor strike right and so they couldn't change a word if they moved into production during the strike so I've heard rumors that everything was written and everything was calculated but as a writer and he's a pretty good writer and he you know he's he's been living in that suit for years now so it's yeah but but it does AD living is a dangerous thing it's really fun when you kind of plan it I've been in projects where you know director comes let's just kind of walk through what we're gonna do not what we're gonna say just walk so I can see how the you know how the movies be framed up or the scenes GNA be framed up and then when you start even in deer camp we we had the same problem we had this great the lead actor uh JJ you know comes from comic background and you know we had the lines and then he would add this and they were like oh no uh can you do that again what did I do what did I do we have to play it back to show him what he did and then he'd go back and do it again just to give us another angle so it's very problematic but so multiple takes I'm sure but G genius right yeah I mean but that's the Brilliance of let's say an actor who's just thrown everything at it you know and you and you you know once you kind of know what you're GNA do then just look out you know Bill Murray's like that too yeah and he'll just he'll walk away he'll leave a set for 10 days and not tell anybody then just show up and go okay let's do it again so days you know you live in that stuff lives in you so it's just like wind up and let him go yeah I was gonna ask you who else in the in the current genre of great actors and I think Ryan Reynolds is a great actor I really do I think he's supremely talented who else can do stuff like that and maybe a couple of examples who who who really who get when you watch something and you watch him whatever the actor or actress is you go damn that's good that's so freaking good yeah uh there's an there's an actor that's kind of he's been around for a while but he's kind of on the rise but I really like him he's got a moody interesting look David uh I have to pronounce this right desk Malin now desk Malin desk malchin yeah he's in that one that movie that was out last year that kind of languished in theaters and it's a it's a crazy horror movie set in the 70s about late night talk show Wars and he's a he plays a character from um Chicago that's trying to compete with Johnny Carson then they decide to have a possession live on TV and the devil arrives so I'm just gonna leave it right there that's a crazy fun movie all set in the 70s yes all shot like in 43 and it looks like videotape I mean it'll throw called it's called late night with the Devil and where is that uh that's practically everywhere Prime shudder AMC plus you can find it but he does that where where once you kind of know I've seen Pacino in a very very um rigid script environment known as a Tony and a pullit your prize do not change a word on that script I've seen Pacino get into that character and all of a sudden he'll come up with something that's not there and everyone just kind of goes oh wow okay but you know what do what do they do when that happens if you're not supposed to change a script well um I think it was Mike Nick I was I was not in this um scene and I was sitting beside Mike Nichols the great Mike Nichols right at video Village watching this and Patrick was in the scene my little brother with him as well and the script supervisor is holding the script going um he added like about five more words there and then Mike Nichols turns to me and goes who wants to tell alpacino to do it again no exactly exactly yeah so we'll just we'll print that we'll we'll go with that right we're just gonna go with that we'll show that it'll beine I would I would think so yeah I'm and I'm I'm you know I'm drawn to actors like there's certain actors or actresses that are in movies that I like I don't care what the script is I don't care what the plot is it's gonna be good you know Denzel Washington Denzel Tom Hanks um who are the guys like that for you uh Denzel absolutely um I think uh and Harrison Ford you know Harr all of his work and if you if you really go back to like regarding Henry which written by JJ Abrams by the way on Christmas break after college many years ago wow um who I had a chance to work with not that long ago Harrison Ford is so subtle and so simple but you look at what he's done with his various characters even like working girls speaking of Mike Nichols you know where he played the female lead you know for a macho guy Indiana Jones Han Solo basically playing the girlfriend as a guy right um but just can tune it way down and just kind of live in that role so he's won Denzel for sure um Denzel American Gangster a Man on Fire Denzel can in in The Equalizer series which I just I love freaking but how subtle um I think it was Anthony Hopkins who is another one who who said when he got the role of Hannibal Lecter um and he met with um Jonathan Demi right the director and he came up with this idea and he was you know was a great stage actor as well before he got into movies where if I just get really still that's even scarier and that's not in the script yeah that's and he you know you you go back and watch that and there are moments where he is staring through you and not moving and then smiling like that's scarier than being bombastic yes yes oh God yes yeah yesel does that really well really well uh anything coming out this summer any any more blockbuster movies we should be looking for that you're looking forward to or anything that's maybe already out well there's a couple coming there's next week is um it'll be interesting it's kind of been controversial in terms of reviews but the crow the reboot of the crow is next week uh and you know that was the movie back in I think 94 or 95 where Brandon right Bruce Lee's son played this he and his you know this the story is that this young couple's about to get married and celebrate life and then they're gunned down and then a mysterious Crow brings him back to life and he avenges his you know sadly his uh fiance dead fiance you know and just terrorize the town and then in the scene where his character gets shot he actually got shot and killed um so there's a lot going and there was something really sweet about his countenance you know Brandon's face and his style that I think is going to be missed I love what Bill's gonna do Bill Skarsgard I love what he's going to do with it but Hollywood's kind of worried about that because it's such a revered project and you know because it resulted in Brandon's death yeah we'll see where that goes um early reports are it's going to be rip roaring and Moody and fun and kind of very baroke and violent so and it's a you know it was a graphic novel like Deadpool was so it'll it'll be fun to see how they kind of retool that okay that's next week that's next week all right um um I don't know did you see House of the Dragon yes I did I we watched Ashley and I watched the whole season and we love it we love it but that that last episode sucked like how you just can't you can't do that to the audience you can't lead up to World War II and then go we'll see you in a couple years well come on dude you [ __ ] what like even I think episode I'm throwing stuff at the TV I'm like where the dragon were better than that I mean like there are a bunch of episodes that were better than that but I think I I I did hear that that episode was shot while there were waiting to see if they're going to get renewed so I think that's why they stretched it way out and said ha we'll see you in a couple years I mean it's gonna be two years before we see right so come on dog a big let down a big but but still a fun series and I think for any Game of Thrones you know is you don't you can just be a casual fan of Game of Thrones and if you buy into the you know suspend disbelief and they're dragons everywhere yeah and they're fighting for dragons and they're fighting with Dragons once you buy into it I think those characters honestly in House of dragons may be even more multi-dimensional and richer than some of the Game of Thrones characters so and I love the girl power you know I love a lot of that there's a lot of going on really except for the let down of the but you know yeah yeah I would like to see a few stronger male characters all right I'll give you one there's a there's a new show on Apple Plus that a bunch of my friends are in and a guy named Vince vaugh called Bad Monkey oh yeah yes it just I think it just started yesterday the day before and the first episode it's a little bit weird but oh yeah it takes place in Florida so it's weird and it was it's adapted from Carl heis who kind of the poet laurate of Florida I think yes and his crazy Florida stories Vince Von plays kind of a baguer detective from Miami Dade Police Department who's un Hiatus and wants to get his job back so he's now down in Key West and finds an arm floating while he's fishing yes and he's like this is my chance to get back on the police force I'm gonna figure out the crime right and it's just Mayhem and some of the they then he goes to like the Bahamas and there's like a voodoo doctor it's insane um that's new and that's fun apple plus bad money yeah okay you mentioned something that that we watched a couple months ago and then went to New Orleans and it was even more fun yep your honor yeah with with um Ranon ran cranon another actor that I don't care if he's reading the phone book I'm watching it um phenomenal story and and the set set in such a great city to shoot in I mean my goodness New Orleans is just it's a it's a it's a [ __ ] hole it is but there point there it's got to be an absolute director's dream to shoot in it's it's already Gothic it's already filthy it's already dangerous you know so just plug plug in turn the camera on and go you know go right and you put that team together but yeah what a and that's that's now back that's on Netflix so for those that didn't have showtime and that's been out a couple years yeah yeah really you know it's it's more or less you know he plays a judge whose son gets in trouble and then he decides to help to cover it up yeah just leave it right there but it goes berserk and you've got kind of uh you've got kind of this New Orleans mob boss that's at war with them and it's just it's very moody and Marg I the character I love the most aside from Brian Cranson is Margo marindale who show is she she is his uh cop sister-in-law right sister-in-law sister oh yeah yeah she was his wife's sister yeah yeah she shows up kind of towards the end and kind of helps she's great she's old southern woman who's a who's a senator and right that's right and you know what side she's really on you know no that that's really really good high highly recommended um any other recommendations of stuff people can watch as before football season gets in full stretch yeah get get get ready so get all this stuff out of the way so we can start watching football and then hockey and then NBA um yeah Knox goes away Knox goes away is I think it's his Direct Cal debut Michael Keaton and it's a very interesting little movie I mean it's not gonna change the world but I loved it Pacino shows up um there's some really fun characters but Bas and James Marston is in it speaking of X-Men I mean he was he was Cyclops I think for 14 years or something um but he but but Michael Keaton's a lead and he plays this character who's kind of this well ex Hitman who is has some neurological issues early on the movie find out that he's suffering from dementia and it's rapid onset and then his son gets into trouble and so not unlike U you know your honor and so then he just and he and his son are estranged so his son basically um commits a bad crime and now the Hitman who's losing his mind wants to make up with his son and does something at the end that's a the biggest twist I never saw and that's on HB late 80s 90s uh crime Thriller Noir it's really a cool style all right everybody go watch deer camp this weekend on Amazon Prime and you'll say that's the dude on JP showus mustache minus the mustache in in in the sheriff's hat all right partner uh love you man thank you so much for coming on we'll see you in the movies yeah and hopefully on the golf course soon yes let's do that all right see you Wednesday see you thanks the great Paul Wilson there that was fun that was fun any movies you guys seen lately that you want to comment on you've seen which which show is epic Christopher Cole which one you talking about uh your honor um Matt Damon Matt Damon yeah he's another actor I'll anything he does I'll watch really really good um for the first time in my life I'm proud to wear this suit it means I'm an X-Men the X-Men chills oh yeah when Wolverine said that yeah that was cool that was cool um TJ c22 said Ryan was with Hugh and admitted he helped leak it oh oh okay um yeah if Deadpool was never made I would just be absolutely so sad um Ashley's first time she's seen a Deadpool movie she's like that's just freaking hilarious it is it's it's an I guess it's kind of an acquired taste um but it's just you I mean he is so stream of Consciousness is great uh Christopher go said he had a wide open Lane to get a sack and he slow and not explosive like he was at times you talking about Devon white I have to go back and look at that Devon white hate botch um it's all part of it um speaking of Wolverine TJC says um in Deadpool the best part of the movie is when they are saving the timelines and they are having these flash moments and Hugh says I'm the X-Men yeah that was cool I don't I don't get into a lot of the Nostalgia myself because I don't know all the the Marvel storylines and all those things so imagine people who do get so much more out of the movie than I do I just marvel at just this smart ass mouth that just you know and it's it's just it's funny it's funny and there's action Galore you'll you'll love it yeah definitely not for kids do not take your children um unless they're over i' I'd say 16 at the earliest I I wouldn't want to watch it with my kids now when they're 25 and 21 like I would be especially my daughter hell to the no there's a lot of sexual inuendo in there that you I would no not they can watch it they're old enough whatever but I ain't watching it with them I just don't want to do that you guys feel that way as a as a dad you know some stuff you'll watch you'll be fine with it watch with your wife but like I'm not watching this one like no way no way I would definitely put Deadpool in that category all right we're g to take another Rico how are you good thank you JP thanks for having me oh good we can hear you we can see you so all is good um we uh we got early voting starting Monday right or Tuesday uh August 20th on Tuesday um so so yeah election day is August 20th and early voting started August 5th up until this Su okay yes sir we're we're at it all right well tell me tell me what you're running for where your district is and um some of the key points that you're working on for the community yeah again so Rico Smith so I'm a candidate for Florida house 67 um which is a lot of the New Tampa USF area Bower Fletcher comes all the way down through mango TOA sehner and even like North Brandon um born raised in Tampa currently serve in the Air Force as a finance officer um a lifelong Republican and a lifelong resident of Tampa some of my top issues number one looking at prioritizing education for our children um bringing dollars back uh to our district for infrastructure uh and Healthcare uh which is a looming um you know aspect that we're facing right now um throughout Florida as we have an Asian population well that's for sure and and working with the state house obviously it's a it's a very Republican government at this time um draw the differences between yourself and and your opponent in this race if you would absolutely so yes so as you know there is a super majority of Republicans in both Chambers um the Senate and in the house um but ultimately if you look at my opponent she is the House minority leader she's one of the most powerful Democrats in the state um but instead of actually using that to uh reach across the aisle and actually find sound Solutions is more of a um partisan sound bites um and not focusing on the real issues at hand bringing resources back for the community and actually being a unifying um figure uh R tell me a little bit about what um kind of the the atmosphere is up in Tallahasse right now um you maybe def finded it right there with your opponent but um it seems like you know Ronda Sanz who won by a large majority um a lot of good thing at least in my mind a lot of good things are happening for the state of Florida real conservative values that you may not find in other states and U one of the one of the the byproducts of that is an influx of new residents here in Hillsboro County making everything more difficult more expensive more everything so what what are those things that we need to get done in Tallahassee that will help Hillsboro County with this explosive growth that we're going through especially in your District that's right that's right yeah in my district we've experienced a massive amount of growth um since 2020 we're averaging about 900 people a day moving to Florida and a good majority of those people were actually coming to the Hillsboro Tampa Bay Region so how do we ensure that our infrastructure is sound and up to date right um that we can innovate and prepare ourselves for the future uh you know I'm going to get off track just a little bit here Florida right now if we were our own country we' be the 15th largest by GDP in the world mind you right .7 trillion GDP yes and we're on track by the year 2030 to possibly be the 10th largest in the world uh by GDP and so ensuring that Florida businesses can Thrive that we have good paying jobs here in Florida and ultimately um Can ensure the success of all Floridians uh but we have to do that by ensuring that we do not tax ourselves to death um Ur that we can keep dollars right in the pocket of the average American Floridian um and ultimately if you look at the temperament right now in Tallahassee is prioritizing legislation that's going to one ensure that we remain fiscally responsible um that we ensure um your Liberties as well uh but in ultimately bringing dollars back and uring that you have a safe community that can Thrive Rico Smith joining us he is a candidate for Florida State House District 67 how has the national discourse touched your race or just state politics in general in terms of the incredible divide in this country uh vitriol um I'm not sure how old you are but I'm old enough to remember when we could actually argue politics and not want to kill each other uh was much more civil time and and now that's that's changed dramatically what what's your view on that that's right well I'll tell you you the good thing I I like to look at is that in this race I feel as though I am the candidate that will be a unifying voice um someone of sound reason that can actually through all the noise that's going on right now and say hey focus on what's at hand the kitchen table issues right when we look at rapid inflation we look at Cost of Living housing prices and through the roof how can we focus on ensuring that the average family can Thrive and that's what we're going to do right now the national headwinds are going to move and sway whatever way they will uh but ultimately as I tell everyone the lower you go down on the ballot the closer you are to home all right um it is your County Commission is your Schoolboard races your state representative races right those are the races that will have the most immediate impact on your day-to-day life um so just truly driving that engagement here at the local level um but I think we are going to have significant turnout on both the left and the right in in November um where do you think uh Hillsboro County's gonna land in terms of the presidential race you get any feel for that you looked at um I I that that's that's a really good question so if you would to go back maybe just about eight years or so um the uh you know the surplus of Democrats over Republicans in Hillsburg County was about 60 something 70,000 now as of last weekin 8,000 uh registered voters in change um you know Democrats over Republicans so we significantly close that Gap um I do believe that Hillsboro will flip red here if not before November definitely within the next year um but ultimately it is just truly driving that gov you know get out the vote um and knowing and getting our message out there um that we uh stand for fiscal responsibility all right we stand for Public Safety we stand for um ultimately ensuring that you can have the Liberties um to you know truly keep Florida free that's what we stand for and I think Hillsboro and not only just Hillsboro but for reasons for that measure have woken up and and they realized that as we have now surpassed 1 million registered Republicans over Democrats now in Florida wow that that's that's that's a big change no question about that especially with the influx of people coming to Florida um some afraid that you know people moving from the Northeast will be bringing their politics with them that they're trying to escape oddly enough ironically enough um say no please don't do that reason there was a ma there's a mass Exodus right out of States like California you know New York new hampsh you name it right but they're coming here but they're not bringing their you know their affiliation here and their voting record here they're either you know filing as a Republican or they're filing independent that leans Republican uh because they're getting away from you know those failed Democratic policies right and ultimately coming to the free state of Florida the free state of Florida I love that when I saw the sign I was driving a couple weeks ago and I'm like I I've not seen that sign like I used to go back and forth from Atlanta to Tampa uh many years ago and I had not seen that sign and boy people were very upset that he that Ronda santis put put that sign up like and spent $60,000 to do it oh my God yeah yeah I tell you this uh JP which I thinkable you know I would say that and and to take it further right you know as a representative right as an official you represent everyone right not just a party and when you ultimately look at what we have um I'm going to go into office on day one being able to bring money back to the District being able to actually get laws on the house floor my opponent on the last two sessions six of her seven bills have died in committee they never touched the house floor mind you okay she's unable to get the job done and that's why I'm running to be your next state representative because I'm going to go in there and I'm not going to be a divisive figurehead I'm going to be someone who can actually get things done well that that makes sense I mean if it's a if it's a super majority for republicans and we have a democr R in the district trying to you know you're not representing well put it this way you're not bringing the money home because you're you're not gonna get anything past I mean yeah it just it it's pretty it's a numbers game right and that that helps your District to get that get that money back here anything specific uh any projects specific to your District that you want to bring back here yeah got to bring home the bacon um so ultimately one one thing for sure um is roads pop holes right infrastructure sidewalk revamping uh uh updates U that's one that I hear about we actually a few weeks ago we had a town hall forum and um that was one major issue is that you know like one of our developments up there near Pebble Creek a lot lot of those road the main road has been developed but not a lot of the offroads right that feed off that Branch off um that's one thing that we want to bring dollars back for we also want to bring dollars back for a new community center up there um to implement pickle ball right that's a growing phenomenon right now pick ball Courts vot for pickleball yes everyone loves it um so something like that um you know a fitness center for the community um these are just some of the things that that I've heard when I'm out door knocking and talking to voters in the district um and then ultimately looking at bringing dollars back for a uh revitalized um update to our uh Performing Art Center in the district as well is the uh is the casino in your District so the casino is actually right outside of the district on the other side of 75 um yes that's State uh the fairgrounds that is state land that's owned there the state the fairgrounds area so the Florida State Fairgrounds I believe so not 100% sure um but I believe it is um yes the reason I'm asking is there there's been talk about you know building a raay stadium there the Bucks need a new stadium as well that may be you know although Raymond James is a great yeah location for it I'm not not not suggesting it moved but it it could make things more financially palatable in terms of building it if you know the land is something that is a I don't know it's something that may come up I didn't know if it was in your District or not so I thought I would ask so uh well listen Roo I appreciate you uh good luck um if I could vote for you I would no question about that I appreciate you and I I hope you win and bring home the bacon thank you partner appreciate your time thank thank you so much and if I may I just want to let everyone know please get out make sure that you exercise your privilege of being able to vote um and when you can please visit my website www. votos smith.com and then tell you all about our campaign our platform and then how to keep in touch thank me your Facebook page is very uh is very informational as well um so you can go there just put Rico Smith Facebook and you'll find that as well thank you Rico appreciate it thank you luck all right have a good one thank you yeah you too um all right good so we'll take a quick break uh when we come back uh Lila Collins is going to join us she is a candidate for school board in Hillsboro County and uh she has a wonderful personal story as well to tell so we will do that when we come back stay with us as we head into summer and hurricane season you must make sure that your home is fully insured over right Election Day is coming up on Tuesday folks this is a very important election nationally and locally as we've talked about uh um and of of course we've got the big one coming up in November but these are very important as well with some local elections um we care about our community here I know it's a sports show but we appreciate you guys listening to some of the great candidates that are out there um that we are supporting so we'll bring in uh Lila Collins who is uh running for Schoolboard district one in Hillsboro County in my old neighborhood of West Chase hello Ila how are you I'm good how are you doing thank you so much for uh joining us and thank you very much for your service in the military um I was reading your website and you have uh quite a personal story as Counter Intelligence and Iran and Afghanistan if I have that correctly I'm I was a big fan of Homeland Carrie was one of my favorite uh people I don't know if you ever watched that show but is that is that what you did over there that type of Counter Intelligence special ops so I spent the majority of my career and counter Intel and within the Special Operations Community I deployed um to the major conflicts we saw in Afghanistan and Iraq and I also did years of uh small man type deployments so I had a very blessed career yeah so but that's the exciting stuff what everyone doesn't see is I had to earn my seat at the table because there were not a lot of women in that type of job at that time in special operation and the way I did it was getting really good at policy budgeting and all of what we'll call the back office stuff and I think that that gives um a lot different perspective on a race like this because so much of that experience would apply to the role of a Schoolboard yeah well we'll talk a little bit about the Schoolboard stuff maybe you'll come on some other time and we could talk about the the other stuff that's super interesting but let's dig down in in in what's going on here because as we've learned over the past um five or six years especially Schoolboard is a very very important position now uh especially with a lot of the shenanigans that's going on in public schools in my in my opinion and we need people I think conservative value people like yourself to make sure that um our schools are places for Learning and not indoctrination where are you on some of those issues I believe that we need to start electing people that understand what a rule the role of a school board is and a school board has three jobs yes we need to be out in the community building relationships to facilitate those three jobs but those three jobs are budget create local policy based on law we are not a legislative body when when we're on any board let alone a school board and you hire and supervise this the superintendent or or CEO it's like any other board and those are the three areas where we should be the most competent and when we do not have policies and procedures that allow transparency and and cause us to stay on track you'll notice our board meetings are full of decisions based on emotion not on those policies and procedures so a lot of time is used on things that are not in the best interest of our our students families and staff when 47% of our third graders read proficiently any second we spend on the other stuff 47% 47 across hillsb County 53% can't read not proficiently no wow and up to third grade you're learning to read beyond that you've got to read to do your lessons you're reading to learn right and so when they're arguing over budgets and no one understand understands why this is happening or why this contract has requirements and that one doesn't maybe nothing is uh is wrong but when you don't have those practices known and transparent it leaves that doubt it it seems you have do you have specific examples of this and and maybe the reason why you're running well I mean it it's there's too many to list it's a systemic problem and it's not one contract it seems like if you go to this pocket of town they ask why is it that contracts always go with XYZ I'll talk to someone else and they'll say well all we wanted was a fair shot we were rated in the top nine and then someone that was 16 got the contract and look there could be a viable explanation but unless you have practices what type I hate to interrupt but what type of contracts are we talking about here the reason I'm asking for specifics is because I think it helps the the public understand better what we're talking about here it could be anything from products they buy to tutoring to program they're not picking the best buses yeah so not necessarily the best contractor they're they're piting it on based on other things well that the having the lack of procedure and and known procedure leaves that perception yeah OB and it's not just there's a lot of distrust and we've got to restore that uh Lea Collin is joining us he is uh um up for election on the Schoolboard district one which is the West Chase Citrus Park area I'm not mistaken is Keystone little league in the Little League World Series actually uh I think they are I think Jay went to visit with them yes yes so go go Keystone go Keystone um there's been a lot of talk about parents role in education um there are a lot of places that believe that the state should handle all this and the state should be the parents um I vehemently disagree with that I think parents should be in control um where is Hillsboro County on this uh this crucial uh issue well I think one of the biggest examples is when our governor had a um had an executive order that we should no longer mask only if a parent chose to the incumbent I'm running against defied the the statute or defied the executive order even knowing we could lose money and forced our little children into masks disgusting and now we know that it had secondary and tertiary effects that are still being seen now like lower reading scores yeah many of us knew that at the time I mean Common Sense number one and backed up by science yeah ridiculous yeah AB yeah but um when they remove parents from being able to volunteer I became a substitute because I did not want to send my children to a school that I did not feel that they they would feel was a part of their wait wait parents parents are not I hope we didn't lose you Ila do we oh we lost her we lost her uh hopefully we can get her back so if I heard her correctly parents or not allowed to volunteer hold on see if we can get her back that's that blows my mind um I I my kids in went to a private school obviously we we were obviously able to volunteer and did a lot we spent a lot of time well I think we lost I think we lost Lila there um uh hopefully we can get her back in another time so uh yeah these are listen folks these are important oh I think we got her back I I need to are you back ilila are you there I'm back okay sorry did you just say that aren't able to parents aren't able to volunteer at schools in Hillsboro County we are now we are now but there was a period when we reopened that parents were not allowed to that's you have that type of shift in policy now everyone's asking where right where are the there it's like they don't understand how decision today has effects later on yeah and they look at another example Hillsboro County Schools they're saying they want to give our teachers a pay raise so they're going to add a millage to property tax and I think we all agree teachers need to be pay more but it needs to be done right what they're leaving out put my um opponent is leaving out is it's not really a pay raise it's a one-time bonus so what happens when you raise property taxes and once taxes are are raised they don't use that's right that's right uh unfortunately Lila your signal is is is not good so we're gonna we'll uh thank you very much once again Lila Collins uh for district one in the school board I boy there sounds like there's really some issues and you know um you know I I I have a different perspective because my kids went to a private school Cambridge Christian a wonderful School um for their entire K through 12 and partly because we did not want to deal with the shenanigans of public school and a lot of the stuff that she mentioned there you know having you know mandatory masking of your kids when they didn't need it it wasn't warranted um we many of us knew that at the time if you did your research you knew that it wasn't warranted people are sick stay home absolutely get that but as we known the the troubles that that caused for kids in learning um what we did to the kids during covid is absolutely unconscionable it's all proven now it's not even a measure of debate and when you have people on the school board there defying orders from the governor um that's not good that's not wor that's that's that's using your personal uh biases and inflicting pain on a lot of kids that didn't need to um all right uh thank you guys so much for joining us I appreciate you today as I um hitting all the buttons myself today hope we did everything correct so tomorrow night we got Jags and Buccaneers 7:30 um I'll be looking at a bunch of different things number one the pass rush Chris Bradwell is going to get a lot of work number 43 lookout for him uh we also want to see um Maris Watts Jose Ramirez those guys will get a lot of playing time Anthony Nelson probably get a little bit as well he's more of a we know what Anthony Nelson is very dependable guy good pass rusher want to see what these young guys get done I think kayin Delo probably needs to make some Splash plays or play very well in his role he is in a dog fight for a uh position the the former FSU linebacker wonderful young man hope he makes the team and U so I'll be watching him which number 46 uh Keenan Isaac as well defensive back uh another one on the defensive side offensively you're G to get a lot of Graham Barton again um I think you're G to see a lot of uh Elijah Klein number 79 so Graham Barton 62 and 79 in the interior going be watching them uh you'll see probably a lot of Jaylen McMill I think cam Johnson number nine looks a little bit like Peter War uh he's got to show some stuff um if he's going to make the team so that that fifth and sixth receiver spot very much up for grabs offensively uh what else we want to watch the tight ends Devin Culp um I think has had a really good shot of making this team's seventh round pick and Bucky Irving will probably get a lot of look as well so a lot of interesting stuff and yes there is a battle for that backup quarterback spot I think Kyle tras needs to protect the ball better I'd rather see him be more conservative and protect the ball than what we saw last week if he's going to hold on to that job where John Wolford may get that backup job you just don't know um all right thank you guys so much for joining us appreciate you uh we'll be uh obviously on social media before and after the game on Saturday so check us out there we'll be back on Monday with more fun fun and frivolity and we will see you then have a great weekend everybody for [Music]
