all right coach Mason with open the comment yeah mean today for us uh this football team uh went out and played a really good old Miss football team and so first of all I got to give credit to Old Miss um and they're they're good they're physical and they're talented um and across the board in all three phases and of man for our football team I thought we learned a lot about ourselves um this is a game that's got to be played and uh with that man there's opportunities to get better uh I wanted to see us sort of with in the first wave man because there's always that 8 to 10 minutes in a ball game where we see um this wave especially for um a a non-ranked team playing a A ranked team sometimes and what you have to do is swim through it and I just didn't think we handled that very well initially um didn't play a great first half but what I will tell you is that I believe that this football team uh got better I think there's some things about itself that had learned uh here at Old Miss that I think we can take into uh a schedule in that doesn't get um easier per se man but it gives us a chance to be really competitive so excited about uh you know where we go next and we'll see uh uh with injuries how we come out of this one but for the most part um learned a lot about our football team tonight coach uh Old Miss really experienced football team yeah really good football team um it was just tough getting that they have a really good offense it was just tough getting off the field and a quarterback who I think at one time time had like 24 straight completion just was really hot tell us about about that and how I mean there were a lot your team just kept fighting and fighting and fighting but just tell us about facing that yeah I'll talk about you know their team I mean Jackson Dart first of all you you see why he is is as highly talented as he is uh he's got a great offensive line up front I thought they came in with the mindset of running the football um and they found balance early you know they were able to keep us off schedule they stayed on schedule and uh he he he was able to manipulate our defense a little bit you know run pass options uh he found opportunities to find you know his targets and he stayed pretty efficient uh you know with the football so um that's a good offensive football team you can see why they score the way they do because they've got enough weapons they can spread you out they can uh take the football run inside um between the tackles and so that's a good football team defensively I thought you know like they they presented us some problems early in the ball game um when you look at third down on both sides of the ball okay I think their defense uh was able to pressure us early uh get us in Long third down situations and then um really get Nick off the spot right and and we weren't able to hold up in protection early so to me as I look at uh where we went with this um it gave our old line a lot of work um and there's a lot to clean up in our Run game because we didn't run the ball effectively and you got to do that and stay back balanced but hats off to that old Miss team and there's a lot of work for us to do this team 60 newcomers it's just game two yeah they got a taste to this right this this is not what next week next week's what matters how do you flush this and move on to next weekend's West Kentucky I flushed it in the locker room uh quickly um and I told guys hey look let's let's let's not sit here and pout over what could have been the tape is the tape right um and we had an opportunity to go compete you had an opportunity to go get the work okay uh we got what we got so now what you have to do is go back watch the film look at ways to get better tomorrow's a Sunday okay man we got to start preparing for Western Kentucky right so we'll flush it fast and I told these guys you know our goals are still intact so we play in Conference USA they play in the SEC right so uh we want to we want to compete we want to beat everybody we play but the reality is man you have to look at the things you did the things you didn't do and let's make sure that we fix some of those things so we can be better next week when we play a conference opponent for our first uh conference game all right thanks coach thank you Holden just uh give us your your thoughts about today's game and and how it was it was tough moving against that defense today wasn't it yeah um they run a they run a few different schemes but we were expecting cover one a lot um they have really good DBS really good up front and we knew that if we were going to run the ball we had to be strong if we were going to pass we had to be able to protect and ride ride it out give Nick some time but um we knew exactly what was going to happen coming in we just got to execute get looks fixed and just this is a really good uh Benchmark of where we're where we stand as a team this is kind of one of those games you want to see do we strain do we quit and I feel like there were some hiccups but overall we still finished the game trying to fight through you uh you're really involved in the game plan this week seems like more so than last week what was that like because you had bunch of catches and maybe you went over 100 yards I'm not sure but um I don't know the final numbers but uh but anyway just tell us about being more involved in the offense um that's just game plan each week it's going to be something different and I don't think any of our any of the receivers or tight ends that we got are selfish including the running backs I don't think any of us are going into each week expecting the ball or this is my game to get this many yards I think we have enough uh weapons across the board on offense that it's just whoever the ball finds coach told us the ball finds energy so whoever is going to play with energy and effort that seems the where the ball shows up like we like we asked Brendan you know next week's what's important how do you flush this move on uh to Western Kentucky yeah um like I said this was a benchmark game the one that matters is next week that starts conference play um our goal since the spring has been Conference Championship and that starts this coming up week so we got to get back and prepare and get ready to go thanks BR Brandon why don't you to tell us today about um it was difficult getting off the field today uh just tell us about you know their offense and and how they played um they had a dynamic offense really good quarterback Good Old Line good running backs um but for us it was kind of we were more process driven than outcome driven so for us it was just trying to go in and execute our game plan um and just try to get off the field as much as we could you moved to Nickel there at a time and it really helped slow the run down a little bit tell us about that move um that's just part of our game plan um part of the scheme the coaches came up with um they just put me in places to make plays and it's my opportunity when I have the opportunity I just try to do that next week is what what's really important that's when conference conference season opens play how do you flush this and put everything toward Western Kentucky uh again we're process driven so we're going to get in tomorrow we're going to watch the tape we're going to assess that and then we're just going to move on day by day other questions for br you're good appr thank thank you
