All right, thanks for jumping back on with our digital stream here on youtube, social media, things like that on our website. We are continuing to monitor this very heavy rain that's setting up over the city of New Orleans. There is a flash flood warning in effect with us over the next couple of hours because of the rain. That's just been nonstop funneling right into the New Orleans Metro. So we had the street flood advisory. That's that lighter green box around much of the metro and then that blinking green blocks is uh blinking green box rather is the flash flood warning that is in effect because this line of rain and storms is continuing to train over the same area. So we picked up several inches of rain. We're actually under a flood watch for like the entire area till seven o'clock tonight. So this was expected, we were talking about how it's gonna be a wet and soggy Labor Day weekend and it's happening now. So make sure you drive carefully this morning, we could see some pretty nuisance street flooding in just a few areas. It's not gonna be everywhere. It's just those usual spots, those low lying areas that can kind of get flooded pretty easily. With these be downpours setting up over the city of New Orleans, you can encounter some big puddles in that ponding on some of our more susceptible roadways. So some heavy showers, we kind of look at the storm a little more closely. So getting into New Orleans East, they've got some heavy showers happening now uptown back through meter and kenner into City Park. So a lot of rain happening for definitely the the lakefront area getting into our early Friday morning. So hopefully, if you can kind of delay your morning commute a little bit, it is gonna be a wet and soggy start to the day. Hopefully you're already at work or where you need to be because we're gonna continue to monitor these showers setting up over the metro area at this point. So that flash flood warning encompasses really the entire New Orleans Metro, both the East and West Bank at this point and Bell Chase seeing some heavy showers and then looking at the causeway, there are a lot of heavy rain moving over the causeway right now. So the lake is seeing all this rain moving in that direction. So the storms are moving from south to north, from southeast to northwest and that's the direction of the storms that we'll be seeing throughout the course of today. So the storms are kind of funneling in from the Gulf of Mexico and pushing right up from the south shore up to the north shore. So messy kind of drive this morning, especially for the causeway. A lot of lightning within these storms, we can actually see some tropical funnel clouds, maybe some water spouts as they move over the lakes. So get ready for that today. Some passing downpours and a few stronger storms. Some of these storms can give us the gusty winds, but I think it's the heavy rain that will be the bigger issue today. So taking a wider look at the region kind of a blank spot on the north shore. So Saint Tammany Washington parish, not seeing much, but then Tangipahoa Parish following this line of storms that's bringing the flash flooding to the metro area. This line of storms is going right up into Tangipahoa Parish right along I 55 into Hammond. So check out that line. That is what's dumping so much rain. That's that training of rain and storms that is inducing some flash flooding now for the city of New Orleans and New Metro, which does include parts of Jefferson Parish, parts of the West Bank down into Chalmette, parts of Blackman's Parish and Saint Bernard parish as well. So heavy rain this morning for I 10 for the city of New Orleans also for I 55. But you notice it's not raining everywhere. Saint Tammany Parish, not seeing much other than a little shower, just kind of moving in from Lake Bourne just southeast of Slidell, getting into South Mississippi. We're seeing some storms popping up over Poplarville in River County. So South Mississippi seeing some heavy rain along I 59. So that's what we have today. This is the trend passing downpours a couple of stronger storms and street flooding is on the table for a few spots, not everywhere. All the time there are going to be dry breaks in between. Like if we look over in Terrebonne Parish, we do have some moderate showers uh further west through Terrebonne Parish, but Houma and Thibodeaux not seeing anything at this point. But later today, they could maybe see some passing storms closer to the coast. Ok. Port Sulfur and Blacks Parish, certainly seeing that funnel of that channel of heavy rain rather. So port sulfur down to the coast, seeing those heavy downpours continuing to move in from the Gulf of Mexico. And we've been mentioning this is all part of that big disturbance out in the Gulf of Mexico. It's not associated to anything tropical, but it's bringing us tropical downpours and a lot of tropical moisture. So it doesn't have a name, it doesn't have anything highlighted from the National Hurricane Center, but it's doing enough for us to bring us a ton of moisture and that's what we have today and really all Labor Day we and long so make sure you pack your patients when you hit the roads today and if you will be driving around for maybe, uh, any festivities happening this weekend, we've got a lot of stuff going on this weekend. Make sure you drive carefully, drive slowly. Try not to be in a rush, leave your, leave yourself extra time before you head out the door because we have all these showers and storms to have to deal with. So another look at that flash flood warning at the moment, some of the rain is letting up for parts of me into city park in the lakefront area and in uptown. So the rain is letting up slightly for parts of the city. But Bell Chase seeing some heavy rain, some downpours. Now, Chalmette and New Orleans East seeing those heavier downpours off to the east. So that is where the heaviest rain is located now closer to New Orleans East and, and kind of in that Seabrook I 10 area, that's where it's headed. So heading in from uh along I 10, you'll be seeing those heavy downpours moving in from south to north. So we'll continue to get these and moving in that direction at this point. So the flash flood warning of course will be with us for the next couple of because even after the rain stops, which is probably not gonna stop for another 45 minutes, even after it stops, it takes a little while for the rain to kind of recede and go down, especially if we have some flooding happening across parts of the city. I do wanna check street wise to see if there are any reports of street flooding at this point online, not seeing any reported street flooding just yet, which is a good sign, of course, that can change as these downpours kind of just set up and keep moving in over the same areas. But the rain is starting to subside slightly from Meowy and uh parts of the city of New Orleans uptown, starting to see some lighter showers but still right along the lakefront, un o heavy rain happening there, Gentilly to Seabrook also still continuing, continuing to see that heavy rain, but a lot of it is shifting out over the lake. So the causeway, if you're driving along the causeway is a messy drive right now. That's where it's headed though. This line of storms right into Southern Tang HOA Parish. So Hammond going to see some heavy rain. Southern tangy along I 55 that's where the heavy rain is shifting along this channel of storms. That's just going in this direction. And unfortunately, today and again, tomorrow and Sunday with the heavy rain on tap, that means we could see some more isolated street flooding in a few spots. It doesn't mean everyone's going to have to deal with it, but it's just something to keep in mind, something to prepare yourself for. Since it is a holiday weekend, we wanna relax and enjoy it, but we have a lot of wet weather with much needed rain. You know, it's been dry lately. We need the rain, but of course, we don't need the flooding, but sometimes this is what we get when it starts to pour here. And unfortunately we have this flash flood warning for the city of New Orleans, for the East and West Bank. It's that flashing green box here down to Bell Chase that includes meter to Kenner. So parts of JP or leans parish Saint Bernard and Plains. So that's where the flash flood warning is in effect. Now, the heaviest of the rain just east of Chalmette towards uh 510 I 510 at this point and moving in that direction towards New Orleans East. But it is shifting out over the lake. If you know someone that's driving across the lake right now on the causeway, maybe don't give them a call yet, but make sure you check in on them later today, make sure they've made it through, ok with this heavy rain, this blinding rain that's happening right over the causeway. And again, in addition to the heavy rain, we can see some uh some decent flashes of lightning, quite a bit of lightning in some of these storms, some brief gusty winds and water spouts are possible out over the lake. So that's something also don't be surprised if you see that if you are headed out today and to encounter one of these storms while driving across the lake today. Hopefully we'll con continue to see this trend where it subsides for parts of the city but still tracking one area where it's pretty heavy, that rain, pretty heavy east of Chalmette and just north of Chalmette headed towards Michu in Little Woods. That is where the heaviest of the rain is happening now for New Orleans east and parts of the lakefront area, you would know Gentilly seeing a good little downpour, but it's pushing off to the north as it heads out over the lake. So this is where we're watching some heavy downpours and some street flooding certainly possible across the city of New Orleans. No reports of street flooding yet on street wise, of course, that can change. Sometimes it takes a while for it to get updated. Uh People, you know, have to see what's what the deal is. But so far looking like the trends are favorable in that the rain is weakening a bit for a good portion of the city. But we're still watching this downpour for New Orleans East and Bell Chase also seeing some heavy rain, but also we gotta look behind it where the rain is coming from. That means along this line, it's like this direct route here. Unfortunately, this is like where it's going, more storms could follow in this direction. So I think we'll probably continue to see these showers move to the northwest. So Bell Chase will see some more rain. The West Bank will see some more rain and then we'll get into probably the next couple of hours with more rain heading in over the city. So even if it does stop for a little while, we can see some more passing downpours getting into later this morning, into the afternoon. And we have some more stormy weather on tap for Saturday and Sunday. It's not until Monday, our pattern changes up. So Monday, which is a couple of days from now, Labor Day itself. Monday, we'll finally see some slightly drier days ahead for early next week. So looking forward to only get a break from the rain, but obviously, it is some much needed rain since this month has been incredibly dry. So getting some much needed rain don't need the flooding. Hopefully we'll make it out. Ok. Good news is these showers are starting to weaken for parts of the city and for Jefferson Parish. But the heaviest rain now still back towards Bell Chase and office to New Orleans East just north of Chalmette. But this is moving towards the Seabrook, Littlewoods, moving towards the lake. So UN l still dealing with some heavy rain at this point, Almoner Avenue, heavy rain right here right along I 10 in New Orleans East, the heaviest of the rain is moving in this direction from south to north. So southeast to northwest, more specifically, so me should seeing some heavy rain at this point. Little woods about to see some really heavy rain shell met also still dealing with some heavy showers, but it is pulling away. And just another kind of final look at that flash flood warning that does include really the entire New Orleans Metro and into the East and West Bank. So we'll be here watching this all day today. Also, we'll be here all weekend long watching for any other flooding concerns that may arise. Not a guarantee that it, that they will, but it's on the table that with these storms coming in, we could see some more street flooding today like we are seeing now for the New Orleans Metro. We could see some more street flying this weekend. It's possible. It's, that's a possibility for us for our Labor Day weekend. So, thanks for tuning in. Ok. Um Thanks for tuning in on your Friday morning. We'll be back here if we do need to pop back on for a new flash flood warning, but we'll be monitoring this and we'll come back on for if there's any other breaking news and information about today's rain event. So thanks for tuning in. We'll be back for the Wwl Louisiana news at noon.
