POST MATCH INTERVIEW | James Duncan - Chesham United 2 Torquay United 3 - 26th August 2024

we're here with JD after disappointing 3-2 home defeat to talk but playing the whole of the second half with 10 men boys did us proud but just couldn't go over the line uh they were outstanding they were absolutely brilliant um I think 11v 11 in the first half we were better side um for we deserved the lead um that spos of possession a little bit but um without threatening um and then um yeah we got a goal threatening again uh like we was going to go get second and we've had a bit of a howler really with a goal in terms of um uh obviously the hand ball in the line he's ascending off um you know he's we got to take our medicine but that he's um when it happens I mean it looks when you look from the outside and look at it it looks um it looks obviously not great um but obviously I'm guess it's a natural reaction that he's done but um it's um it's it's tough to take in half time we set up a made a substitution uh set up the side and I mean how good we were 10 men um we were top um scored again missed the chance obviously to then took the lead yeah yeah yeah and then miss a chance obviously when they equalize miss a chance to then go and score again um so um you don't always get where you deserve in football you know we haven't deserved to lose that game I know obviously said it same interview in the western game but it's a it's it's a it's a top performance and uh we got to take our minutes soon and move on must be pleasing Joe gr get get getting some goals today um starting today so good good for him great finish for the second as well yeah I mean he's had two biggest chances if you like we had one here against BN wood and and I think he had another qu decent chance at um at eastor and you know we just said about um obviously taking opportunities and he's took both today I thought he was brilliant um I thought like I say took his goals well when he worked ever so hard for the side and like the rest of him did as well so um yeah really pleased for granty um he's been brilliant since he's come in so um yeah looks like he's been he's been a he's been a key signing with the other guys as well we were just talking beforehand and was saying about positivities um every player positive today thoughts on on that yeah just just where we played we set up a game plan obviously first half and I think it worked um whether they positive everything they did with the ball um bit a little bit Scrappy could say Obviously the first part of it and then we got a bit more uh fluid as as it went on feel like but we just looked a threatful every time we we ask questions of them we Lo we looked a threat we look like we could score and obviously that say we got our goal uh and then our defending as well defending majority and if you look at the um the three goals obviously the first one is is we got to take account for that we got to take responsibility for it uh second one obviously strikes on the Ed of area but obviously being down to 10 we can't get out to the ball um and then the third one across in the head again we've got so many tied legs and you know so many um um yeah fatigued players out there that you know I'm not going to stand here and say oh should get to the ball and head we we put so much into the game um like I say I think we should have come away at least a point at least I think we were the best side alluded to uh three games in six days so it's a big ask yeah it is like obviously we had Western again bit of a sucker pun 94th we've had a 97th for what it is here now today so we've had two last minute uh goals which will cost us some points you know um but look let's let's let's take the positives from from the games um I think we've played really well in in in from large parts of the game um we've got a really good set of boys here the fans today were absolutely brilliant um so thank you to all the boys obviously I know we had a really good crowd today um so you know we've got there's lots of positives around the club and and we're going to be we're going to be we're going to have some good games this year if we can keep the boys playing like that so now only got six days to rest there or five days to rest up you know to to Welling away thoughts on that one yeah tough uh I don't know how they got on today but they've started really well this year I know a couple of their boys um and Rod since he went in there manager I don't know him personally but he's done a really good job you know I think they were struggling last year and we kept him up and um he's this year they started really well so you know they've they have um another tough game uh we have to go away as well tough to go away so yeah we need to um uh dust ourselves off we can't again feel sorry for ourselves we said about uh the western game where we reacted really well against the orans and played really well or got ourselves a win so we need to react again well and and get ourselves a uh a performance over at win and get ourselves a result if we play like we did today then we' got have a chance to winning the game thanks for your thoughts today and we'll catch up next week thank you
