get hurt early or at least in the last preseason game early in again now he lost his job essentially to Riley moss and he's playing this game because he has to win a job back that's why this this third preseason game players but also some of these vets we will step aside and come right back to Denver in a moment difficult start here in Denver as deari Mattis who as we told you was fighting this today injured on the second play and he's going to make the tackle here and it goes down and is right they're going to make a one-on-one tackle then next thing you know your teammates pile on and now it's about 700 lb all on you at one time but you can see why DBS would go low on big running backs Vance Joseph who Cardinals fans remember he spent four here's Clayton tune looking to pass and the check down to Jones over the middle at the 45 yd line and uh the tackle was just Cody Barton doing a really good job and he was competing for that spot this this preseason as well coming over from Washington gener right easy plays easy completions to get yourself into a rhythm so far in the pre-season T completing passes at a 6 play action T chased from behind and taken down player out of Air Force making the play a loss of five yeah this is really just a coverage sack he takes his eyes off of what's potentially in front of him the only thing he can do is try to pick some yardage with his mentioned some of these guys in the secondary tackling is going to be a big part of making this down and 10 T fires Chris Moore's got it but he's tripped up that's a nice Tackle by Levi seven yd pickup it's fourth down and that's just a really good job I said it on third down as long as you're able to tackle and he puts one foot in the ground chases after him yes it's a completion but you get Peyton wants to get a closer look at him today as well and Abram dra is a guy so far in this preseason but he knows he has JL Skinner as his safety inside so he's playing outside leverage and behind knowing that he has help over the to they hoping to continue to build up Cardinals have 12 yards on their last four plays TR four before henningson makes the tackle you know both of these teams Jason are going to have defensive adjustments happening throughout being back in Denver as a defensive coordinator they struggled early Miami hung 70 on them but as the season went on they started over that stretch of time so this defense has coached really well and you're already seeing in this third preseason game with the backups in here right here on third [Applause] down ton gets rid of it to Hall Devon key was able to finish off Hall and that's the final play of the first quarter Jr is how he handles himself off the field the way he takes care of himself is like a 10 or 12 year vet him to stop the football but we saw it earlier in the game he made a terrible decision to try to flip that one out to croll and it was almost intercepted if it would have been he really needs to work on and Shawn pyton when we chatted with him he believes he can fix that in him pass inter interference first down that goes against David Sills the fifth year wi out yeah that's David Sills blocking downfield on that screen you could tell because the running back Blake Watson was out in no man's land all by himself the timing was not right on get drafted so high and the Jets you're thrusted into that starting teammate in Miami and know him well yes and expecting to see him maybe get a few snaps today in this final preseason game and Brandon Jones really good cut over the middle and gets out of bounds and for Brandon Jones though you're coming into a new situation we got to learn a new defense and at that those right here this is just a really good job at the top of the route going against the rookie Elijah Jones a slight push off that receivers do really well cat yeah I got to give a little love to my former teammate Amman tumor he was the best at that sub just I'm pushing you away from from me and I'm going to get worked over because the protection was available for him and he didn't feel Rush seconds on the play clock thank you slowly walks off the field and we be looked at by the Arizona training staff the blue medical tent coming up wonder how hot it is in that medical tent it's like a greenhouse maybe 91° right now Wilson good protection by the off that was a seed from Zach Wilson hard to populate the the roster if you have a pure fullback that's only doing fullback stuff so Nate Atkins is being asked for linebacker but Wilson firing he's got SS at the six but Zach walk Wilson they've been moving the pocket and he's looked pretty good he 14 he has he's doing a good job to Europe all the way across the field his first option was taken away a short route and he's able to go 4-Hour interview in the offseason and as soon as Davis got in the car to go called the driver and said come back and he offered Davis web the job on the spot he thinks that this guy that web will work with Bo Nicks and the other quarterbacks is a big part of this Broncos season and you see him right there sitting right next to Zach Wilson during that interview he had all of his game plans from high school all the way through college and the NFL Davis W went right from oh those are two totally different Lifestyles it's a different work takes a different work ethic you're there all night sometimes and is it feels like he's a peer in that quarterback room and that's important I think especially with some young quarterbacks that are going to get a lot of playing so with that kickoff down in the the 30 we haven't seen a lot in the preseason teams have been vanilla what will they do in the regular season starts turn kicks you want to see who can block who can get off a block on the kickoff team do they change that because where the ball comes back if it's all about the Touchback teams may say you know what why try to figure this thing out right away and give up a few home run plays let's just kick it through the end zone put our defense season stats that we've seen comparing against last year obviously the amount of returns has increased dramatically 50 or so points but the play the game it wasn't a lot creating seconds after the play please put 25 seconds on the game clock or the bills head coach say you think about the bottom thing here if you're starting at the 29 okay and you get eight of thinking about going for it on fourth down and you're looking the pass those three extra yards could make a difference we thought once this becomes like a scrimmage play it's not but rosters have to get down to 53 and then the next day you can start filling two or three quarterbacks do you risk cutting a Zack Wilson and if you do keep Wilson what other is an incompletion was behind the intended target Palmer and as you talk about that cut down day and it's such a and you mentioned the practice squad the crazy thing is that'll happen on Tuesday and then there will be guys that get released that other teams decide you know what now a guy who int initially thought he made the 53 man roster will now be released because another guy was claimed to fighting for their getting um simplified a little bit more so it's similar to what they're doing in college you know re flipping formations or or pass protections of that nature like we would see pton Manning do or like Aaron Rogers and him making calls at the line of scrimmage and laughing at see as much of that and one of the all-time great quarterbacks just went viral of him saying the game was being dumbed down for these young quarterbacks you're making plays point maybe that's more of a challenge to the defense where it's just like if it is being D down why can't you stop it yeah I think it's in bounds and it's not just you know it's almost everybody every college does this in some capacity the rpos the Run pass just straight up QB powers or QB draws that are called in the Huddle that you might say that's being dumbed down but it's allowing very high level and you only have four or five years third and three for r has him enough for a first down another tackle for mallister Caleb Hayes well of that list is the San Francisco 49ers and a commanders team that's hoping to get things going so that's a like they won't have Darius Robinson first round pick won't have Zade Jones suspended going been a lot of draft and free agency and Sean loves those guys well you think about the wide receiver room courland Sutton's a lock Tim Patrick probably going to make it Marvin Mims is definitely on the team that's four Troy Franklin who they drafted Franklin was a fourth round pick they're not going to cut him that's five those guys are on the team then Brandon Johnson isn't David Sills isn't Michael Bandy isn't Jaylen Virgil isn't Philip d that the Broncos unfortunately are not going to be able to keep in that same breath we have to give Shawn Peyton and problem to have we always said you put the competition in the room the cream always Rises to the top it works itself out and all of these guys are con certain situations that teams have and you start to say hey this guy's released we're going to get him and we're claiming him and we have a spot for him on our L he rumbles into Denver territory before Caleb Hayes makes the tackle a 21 it's interesting for we having the knowing if you can get him back on your practice squad is a big fear for all general managers across the league and final preseason game and if you make a mistake and you're thinking well that could be it if you make a play you're thinking well maybe that got me on the team as where sometimes you're sitting in a hotel room all day or you're sitting around your family and you're hoping your phone
