'No Place Like Nebraska' Inside look at ESPN's Nebraska volleyball documentary.

there's nothing quite like Nebraska volleyball of course we all know that after an unforgettable season last year and tomorrow the ESPN documentary about our own Nebraska volleyball team is hitting air Chanel Sports director neate Johnson is talking with the director of the Productions and he gives us a sneak peek of the story what makes a championship team the players the coaches the fans whatever it may be Nebraska volleyball knows a thing or two about winning about pushing the sport of women's volleyball forward Tunnel Walk in front of 90,000 plus it's the largest crowd to ever see a sporting event at Memorial Stadium enough so to catch the eyes of ESPN and E60 director Jen Carson Strauss the co-director of No Place Like Nebraska and what an opportunity it was to get the behind the scenes perspective from Strauss herself yeah we thought Nebraska volleyball was different um credit to co-director Maddie runlet who worked on this extensively with me a story that weav together the very fabric of husker volleyball with immense depth and care we knew there was something different about this program 90 plus thousand fans don't just show up on August 30th 2023 just because this had to have been decades of um effort in the making and a relationship with a dedicated fan base and a coach who had been there for uh many many years and so we really wanted to hone in on that and we came in really curious wanting to to get those answers but we we told uh our bosses like there's an appetite for this and we should be the ones to tell this story and while the process was long and tedious you're not supposed to but you become married to the material and Everything feels important and so you you do have to get to a point and people might think like oh an hour is a lot of time an hour is not a lot of time and so you have to be really disciplined about what's the story we're looking to tell and anything that doesn't tell that story and doesn't Advance the story as we go along has to has to be cut the outcome is worth the wait creating a Husker out of the California Native I'm a huge fan of them as as competitor yes but as people more so and so um they've invited our our production staff to come out to some games this year and we would love to make that happen huge fans of them
