JT Reacts To Colorado's SLOPPY Win Over NDSU - CFB Week 1

yo what's going on everyone welcome back to another episode of the JT Sports podcast I'm your host JT and you guys already know what we're here to talk about Colorado gets a sloppy win over FCS Powerhouse North Dakota State 31 to 26 and the first lesson that I learned after watching this game is to never ever put any of your hard-earned cash on Colorado after this game I would never never bet a single Dollar on Colorado football ever again no matter how much I trust them to be able to get the win this was a really hard game to watch if you are a fan of Colorado because a lot of the issues that played this team last year still a prevalent this season I thought Dion improved the trenches I thought the defensive line in the offensive line were going to be vastly improved but yet those areas still were big weakness for Colorado in this game they still can't run the football you got all these talented backs you got D Hayden you got the walk on who's pretty good but it doesn't matter how much talent they have at running back because when you're running behind that offensive line you're not going to have any holes to run through I don't know why any running back will consider playing for Colorado Because unless you can be a factor in the passing game and you can pass block there's not really any role for you in this offense with how bad this offensive line is at run blocking and the pass protection wasn't too good neither there were a lot of plays when shadur Sanders just had to pull a rabbit out of the hat and he had to improvise when they did give him time to throw you saw shadur Sanders go to work I mean he was looking like the black version of Tom Brady out there and Colorado does have one of the most talented wide receiving cores in all of col football you saw that tonight you had Travis Hunter Jimmy horn Jr who went over a 100 yards anytime you can get two 100 yard wide receivers in the game that shows you how much talent you have at that position lante Western made a couple of big plays as well you got the transfer from Vanderbilt this is pretty much a Mike Leech style team think of those old school Texas Tech teams that Mike Lee used to coach that's what Colorado offense looks like and you can win games that way as long as you can run the football when you need to and the fact that they didn't have reliable ground game damn near cost them the victory because why is it that after the two-minute warning North Dakota state has one timeout left you would think run the football forced them to use that last time out but no no no no no shadar Sanderson Company still want to keep slanging the Rock downfield which I had no problem with at the time because I wanted them to cover that ninepoint spread trust me I I I love the fact that they were still slinging the pig skin downfield because I wanted them to cover but if we're thinking about this from an actual football standpoint Colorado's clock management is still God awful and you can't do anything but point the finger at coach Prime because what are you doing still trying to throw the football when you should be worrying about trying to get North Dakota state to burn that last time out so you can run the rest of the clock and walk away with the victory this game was a lot harder than what it had to be for Colorado this team once again had a lot of moments when they looked poorly coached and undisciplined I mean sheilo Sanders I love all of the Sanders kids I love coach Prime but sheilo Sanders is terrible he's garbage he should not be playing safety because all he can about is trying to make big hits he's like a big bulky Incredible Hulk out there at safety only caring about trying to put the hit stick on somebody instead of having awareness knowing his assignment and focusing on now line big plays on the back end that's your job as the safety you're the last line of defense which means you have to be Dependable in coverage and sheilo just has no football IQ no awareness bro he's like a chicken running around there with his hand cut off he's like the second coming of Jamal Adams this is a linebacker playing safety he needs to be moved to the linebacker because he's better when he's playing inside of the Box close to the line of scrimmage he's pretty good when it comes to covering tight ends and running backs out of the back field but let him be one-on-one with a wide receiver downfield he gets cooked every single time and he's just too undisciplined as a player to have him playing that safety spot I mean that penalty that he had on third down which lucky enough North Dakota State wasn't able to capitalize off it because the defense line was able to get somewhat of a push and caused a little bit of chaos enough to make them have to settle for a field goal and this defensive line you know for all of the players that they brought in from the transfer portal to improve the interior of their dline to improve their run defense improve the pass rush I mean there wasn't too big of an improvement that you saw tonight when you think about how bad this unit was last year are they better a little bit but not good enough to be able to compete for the Big 12 Championship like how initially thought going into this year I mean this defensive line had moments where you were praying the absolute God that they will be able to get a stop man on that fourth and one I already knew when they had that other quarterback in they were want to convert and keep the drive alive because Colorado's D line just for some reason can't generate a consistent push you know you don't have to be able to get after the quarterback every single play but you got to be able to push the pocket back some there were too many throws when that cam Miller dude just had all damn day to throw and then they act like they were scared to tackle the brother man they had this man out there looking like he was Prime joh man zeling his prime man after he had that rushian touchdown late in the fourth quarter I knew Colorado had no chance of being able to cover it made me absolutely sick to watch Colorado's defense tonight man and Travis Hunter he's the only reliable thing they have in that secondary if he goes down they're absolutely cooked right y'all remember stop Meer for all the dark hard Buffs fans y'all know who I'm talking about number 23 out Corner if my m resarch me correctly wasn't this dude getting cooked all season long last year along with kand mlan didn't they bring in some more transfers at quarterback so I was really surprised to see him still out there doing the same thing he did last year getting cooked every single time he's in the game bro like Dion I love you brother I want you to succeed but you have to look in the mirror and you got to think man what can I do to improve as a head head coach instead of coming at the media for all of these BS articles that they keep worrying about they keep writing about me you need to stop focusing on what the media is writing about you and focus on coaching this team when you have a well- coached football team you don't have a lot of nasty articles written about you some of these are unwarranted but I feel like Dion is focused too much on the media's perception and not focused enough as a coach I mean with the way this team played they had too many costly penalties that were just from this team not being discipling I mean all throughout the first half they were shooting themselves in the foot anytime they was able to get a stop on third down it didn't matter because they had a penalty right after which negated the stop I mean this is the same team that we saw last year this year's Colorado team reminds me a lot of those Texas Tech coach M leech teams you know they were all offensive dependent throwing the football slinging the rock all over the field with great wide receivers in Colorado after watching this game you can definitely tell that they got one of the best deepest wide receiving rooms in all of college football jimy horn Jr Travis Hunter both had over a 100 yards receiving you had to transfer from Vanderbilt will Shepard who was doing some nice things leonte Western he had a couple of nice plays but this offensive line is not that good still it's a problem and I'm really concerned about Colorado's offense heading into their game against Nebraska next week because Nebraska has one of the best defenses in all of college football they return a lot of experience on that side of football and if Dylan Rola gives Nebraska some decent quarterback play I mean after seeing what you saw Colorado do against North Dakota State tonight how much confidence do you really have in their ability to win on the road in Lincoln because my confidence level if you had to ask me on the level of one through 10 is probably a negative five that they're going to be able to pull off to win in that game I mean this team is heavily dependent on shadur Sanders and Travis Hunter to carry the load and you see why because I mean everything around them outside of having some receivers that's about it you got some good running backs but what's the point of having them when you can't run the football because this offensive line can't push the big boys in front of them they can't create no holes in the Run game like the same things that had you screaming at the TV last year when you watched Colorado were the same things that you were probably screaming at the TV once again when you watch them play against North Dakota State they got pushed around up front they did play better in the second half but still I mean I'm really conflicted right now because Colorado did win this game but this game should have been way more in their favor than what the final score indicated like the weird interception that shadur senders through I don't think it was all his fault it was some miscommunication there but what are the chances that a defensive back Falls flou in his face and the interception happens because the ball bounces off his foot into one of his teammates hands for the pick I mean it's just certain things I look at Colorado that I say are procedural things like once again the clock management is awful Deon was burning several timeouts late in the fourth because he wanted to avoid delay of game penalties it's like some of these issues that Colorado have you can't blame on the talent Dion brought in over 40 transfers you know he's rebuilding this thing like he's running a NFL operation he's treating a transfer portal like his free agency if you're going to bring in all of these transfers you got to make sure that everybody's on the same page the communication has to be there you shouldn't be burning timeouts to avoid a delay of game you know like I love Deion Sanders but every time I watch Colorado there are some things that I see that are solely based off coaching I mean I I I really am concerned if Colorado is going to be able to beat Nebraska next week and we haven't seen Nebraska play yet at the time I'm recording this but I was just really disappointed with the performance that Colorado had tonight against North Dakota State yeah they got a win and I wasn't expecting this to be a easy game for them I had Colorado winning 38 to 24 but they still have back clock management due to Dion Sanders not really knowing how to manage the clock that well I mean why the hell are you still trying to throw the football when you got less than two minutes left in the game you need to be running out the clock man run the damn ball oh wait you can't run the football cuz your offensive line can't open up no Lanes in the Run game as a Colorado supporter I was really frustrated watching this game because issues that they had last year that should have been corrected during this off season are still prevalent sadur Sanders did is D Dizzle after watching shadur Sanders play against North Dakota state if you don't see this brother as a lock to be a first round pick next year you don't know a damn thing about football you need to go get your eyes checked because he was back there looking like the black version of Tom Brady out there I mean anytime he had time to throw the football he was dissecting North Dakota's defense I mean absolutely just picking apart that defense and he's so good to the point where during the last two minutes they allow him to call the offense not too many quarterbacks have to kind of blessings to be able to just run the offense call their own plays during the two-minute drill shadur Sanders and Travis Hunter both tonight showed why they're two of the best players in America Travis Hunter probably the best player in college football I mean that one catch that he had where Colorado once again almost had delay of game penalty he he sitting here looking at shadur Sanders giving him the seam just throw me the damn football man that forget everybody else just throw me the football and I got you brother this Colorado team is still do a die by shadur and Travis Hunter they got some decent pieces to be their Supporting Cast like I love the talent that they have that wide receiver but this defense I mean their secondary is just absolutely trash and this new defensive coordinator that they have I do love how more aggressive he is at taking RIS sending extra guys to get after the quarterback because with how inconsistent this pass rush is you got no choice but to send extra dudes at the quarterback but there were times when you know watching the first half of this game you were just praying to God that they could get a stop I mean I was watching this game at one point just say like please please I'm begging them please do something like please get a stop because at one point I thought North Dakota state was never going to stop scoring like they were going up and down to fill with fees like you would have thought that these were both FBS programs man [Music] like it's so stressful watching Colorado play it really is because I really am rooting for Coach Prime to do some big things down there in Boulder and I love him as a coach and as a person you know this is one of my favorite athletes of all time but it's just you got to criticize him you got to and I get that some of the media criticism that he gets is a little bit personal some of it is unwarranted but when it comes to just critiquing him as a head coach there definitely is a good amount of criticis Ms to be said about Coach Prime and how he goes about handling certain situations as a head coach like he needs well Mario Chris Ball has assistant coach that's only there to help him manage the clock cuz Dion I guess when he's coaching these games he isn't worried about the clock he just views these timeouts as just second chances like these timeouts are crucial and you just burn them once you get into halftime like you already down all three timeouts in certain games that they played in last year and those issues are still prevalent like listen man I had a lot of optimism about Colorado going into this season and they are one and0 but this game just it was a lot left on the table and you can't tell me that oh this week one like they're going to get it figured out JT like a lot of the issues that Colorado had in this game against North Dakota State aren't going to get figured out out you want to know why because these are the same exact issues that played them last year everybody in the secondary butt Travis Hunter is getting burnt sheilo Sanders can't cover nobody worth the damn he needs to be playing linebacker offensive line and defensive line are getting pushed around all game long like it's shadur Hunter is shadur Sanders and Travis Hunter saving the day like it always was last year I mean for as much as what Colorado has invested into this team from the transfer I expected way more this was a sloppy game and I know there's a good amount of you boss fans that are going to come at me in the comment section they're gonna say JT you you're hating on Coach prom I'm not hating on Coach pre I'm being honest I love Dion Sanders and I want him to succeed I can't stress that enough but you are just holding water for him if you can't give him fair criticism because we know this dude is far from a perfect coach I mean go look at the last two minutes of this game bro North Dakota state has one timeout you got less than two minutes in the game to go run the damn ball force them to use that timeout and knil the rest of the game out man how hard is that to to know you learned that playing Madden college football 25 like if you're a head coach and you struggle with clock management that is unexcusable because you can have better clock management never ever having any experience being a head coach before and learn how to manage the clock playing Madden college football 25 like some of these head coaches need to play some of these football games so they can have a better understanding of proper situational management so Colorado is still one to know at the end of the day maybe I am being a little bit too hard on them because they didn't cover they did cost me some cash but I mean this was a really sloppy game and a lot of these issues that they had aren't just it's week one just let them figure out the Kings you know in college football I really believe that what you do week one kind of sets the tone for what you're going to be as a team for the entirety of the season week one is a tone Setter and for Colorado your defensive line your offensive line still continue to get pushed around and this was by SCS team I can't even fathom what the hell is going to happen when they travel on the road to Lincoln Nebraska next week I mean Nebraska they got some dudes on the offensive line I mean they got some monsters on the defense line you saw what they were doing to sadur Sanders last year when he sat like five six times a half I mean these boys just might have 15 sacks in one game this was a really stressful game to watch for me it really was not only did I have Colorado covering minus n but I mean that at one point I I just question where they even gonna be able to win the game I I didn't even care about them covering I was like bro can y'all just win because I rather you not covered then you just flat out lose and got people in the comment section saying here you go JT you got this team up all off season and they lose to our FCS team in week one Colorado wins 31 to 26 I mean their their defense got stops when it mattered the most and a lot of how this game went didn't really surprise me I was never expecting for Colorado to roll over North Dakota State and if you are somebody who's only watching Colorado because of Dion Sanders you don't watch college football that much North Dakota state is a Powerhouse they are a staple of the FCS you know this was never going to be a cakewalk North Dakota State could have been playing any other team in college football like Alabama or Tennessee or LSU or somebody like that and they wouldn't have got pushed around you feel me they will at least put a couple of points on the board but if they were playing a better team in Colorado they probably would have lost by three or four possessions North Dakota State is no pushover I had Colorado winning 38 to 24 but watching this game there was a large duration of this matchup where North Dakota State just looked like the better team and this was the first game they ever had with their new head coach so for Colorado they got a lot of things that they have to clean up over the next couple of days and they got to do them very quick because this is a very unforgiving schedule North Dakota state was the only gimme that you had on your schedule this year and even a lot of people understood that this wasn't just going to be a easy gimme win this wasn't one of those FCS teams that you pay a million dollars to blowout no you pay North Dakota State a million dollars not only are they going to gladly take your money but they're going to give you l in the process so this definitely was a more competitive game than what you initially thought I didn't think that North Dakota state was going to roll over and just drop dead and let Colorado do whatever they wanted to against them but I still thought that Colorado could have covered that minus n point spread you know that really surprised me and this game was an eye opener I don't think it's one of those week one things where you just scoff over and say they're going to get it figured out after the year progresses not what you do week one kind of sets the tone for what kind of team you're going to be this year and after watching Colorado get this sloppy win over North Dakota State it's safe to say that this is going to be of those old school Texas Tech kind of Mike Leech coach teams where you know it it's just all offense throwing the football and you got to outscore everybody to win that that's what I see when I watch Colorado play Colorado reminds me exactly like those Mike Leech coach Texas Tech teams they're all offense throwing the football maybe run the football here and there but you're not going to have any defense so every game's going to be a shootout I I I mean I was very disappointed with the performance I saw out of Coach Prime and this Colorado team a lot of issues that I thought would have been fixed still a prevalent and you you know this was just a very stressful game to watch for me but this is it for this episode of the JT Sports podcast this thing went on a lot longer than what I expected it to I know I was all over the place but you you know I'm still trying to compose myself from this game because I still am really upset about them not covering that minus 9 point spread man I get that is B end you you know you win some you lose some but you know some of the stuff that was going out was going on in this game was just unexcusable and really disappointing you know but I appreciate everybody that has made it to the end of this game you know and I don't really know if there was too much of an analysis this really was just me venting if I'm just being honest with you bro because this game was just so stressful to watch I I mean during the first half you didn't even know if Colorado was going to be able to get their offense off the field I mean they were just clocking them I'm just I'm just saying they just running the football just taking their sweet time to score touchdowns on them I mean the time of possession battle I mean holy cow you talk about a one side of the fair I mean Dion went for it on fourth down on his other end of the field and they didn't get it but you understand why because I mean if you didn't go for it you know you you still weren't going to be able to stop them no way they still were going to drive the football down on you so you got to score points you got to go for it in that situation you got to be aggressive because you can't give them the ball back and you know your defense can't get a stop because they're just taking their sweet time taking all this clock off the field like I swear this was one of the fastest games of college football that I've ever watched I mean Hal time got here quick it seemed like after three possessions
