DONALD TRUMP HAS CRITICIZED THE BIDEN ADMINISTRATION AND CLAIM THEY ARE WEAPONIZING THE DEPARTMENT AGAINST HIM AND WERE WASHINGTON CORRESPONDENT VINAY SIMLOT EXPLAINS WHAT THE ATTORNEY GENERAL SAID MONDAY. >> ATTORNEY GENERAL MERRICK GARLAND DEFENDED HIS DEPARTMENT'S INTEGRITY AND HE SAID NOW IT'S MORE IMPORTANT THAN EVER TO PROTECT THE DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE FOR INTERFERENCE. WE WILL NOT ALLOW THIS DEPARTMENT COULD BE USED AS A POLITICAL WEAPON. THIS SPEECH BY ATTORNEY GENERAL MERRICK GARLAND COMES AFTER FORMER PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP CRITICIZED THE DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE SAID THE DEBATE IN FRONT OF MORE THAN 60 MILLION AMERICANS A WEAPONIZED. THE JUSTICE DEPARTMENT, SPECIAL COUNSEL JACK SMITH IS PURSUING 2 FEDERAL CASES AGAINST FORMER PRESIDENT TRUMP. TRUMP ACCUSED PRESIDENT JOE BIDEN AND VICE PRESIDENT HARRIS OF ORDERING THE INVESTIGATIONS, WHICH THEY'VE DENIED. THEN THE ONES IT MADE THEM GO AFTER AFTER WATERGATE, THE DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE MADE RULES TO INSULATE THE DEPARTMENT FROM POLITICAL WORD NORMS ARE A PROMISE THAT WE WILL FIERCELY PROTECT INDEPENDENCE OF THIS DEPARTMENT. REPUBLICANS, INCLUDING PENNSYLVANIA REPRESENTATIVE MIKE KELLY SAY IT'S FAIR TO QUESTION WHETHER POLITICS IS INVOLVED IN THE DEPARTMENT'S DECISION MAKING. I DON'T THINK THERE'S ANY ENTITY IN THIS GOVERNMENT THAT YOU NEVER BE OFFENDED THAT THE AMERICAN PEOPLE QUESTIONED. BUT THE ATTORNEY GENERAL SAYS THE QUESTIONING HAS CROSSED OVER TO CONSPIRACY THEORIES AND DANGEROUS FALSA JUSTICE DEPARTMENT WILL NOT BE INTIMIDATED BY THESE ATTACKS. FORMER PRESIDENT TRUMP IS FACING 2 FEDERAL CASES THE JANUARY 6 CASE HERE IN DC IS DELAYED WHILE A JUDGE TRIES TO FIGURE OUT. >> WHETHER FORMER PRESIDENT TRUMP IS ENTITLED TO IMMUNITY THIS SUMMER.
