how are we what's up long time no see and Ladies sorry I said fellas how would you assess your Camp so far know early uh yeah we're hitting downhill quick um feel good legs feel good uh definitely trending in the right direction happy with how the progressions coming along and timing up how you handling just having a competition yeah I think at the end of the day my whole college career high school career baseball stock or whatever I've always been a guy that's more compete with myself um because I know that's that's how I progress the best and continue to get better cuz at the end of the day um that's all I'm really trying to do is continue to make kicks and kick for a long time where do you feel your game is uh different here standing here today after all your offseason work from last time you sign yeah um I think over the last month between OTAs to now I've grown significantly um in terms of what my fundamentals are and my core fundamentals and I'm not going to like give you guys a dissertation on that but I know what I do I know it works and I know how I want to attack each Kick and then I think just the mental approach of last year to now it certainly hardened me and I feel like I'm in a really good spot both mentally and physically Ki return rules the new kick return rules I mean they're change they're changing every day I believe we can't lay the ball flat on the tea anymore so I think you have to put it in the cup they tell you that um I don't know I couldn't give you like a spefic specific date I just know that that's the that's the new whatever yeah I think yeah it'll be it'll be fun to see how it develops and how it plays out in preseason and then the regular season too on no no no no that's it the trying to wrap your head around the idea of doing something different than you did last year you know approaching the kickoff is got to be a bit of a challenge I think it's a challenge but it's fun because it forces guys as kickers to be athletes um and really take that ball striking and um body control into a factor cuz we're trying to put the ball between the goal line and the 20 so it offers a lot more creativity um and it's going to be interesting for everyone across the league because there's guys all all teams have quality athletes that can do it soad you stand the ball you have yeah you have to put the ball in the te yeah yep I mean are you learning are you trying out new techniques that never really had to use before um yeah I mean I think at the end of the day it always comes down to the foot hitting the ball but um it's the fun part of it it's like it's you learn something every day and that's any sport there's for the next 50 years there's going to be new stuff and younger guys and older guys are going to be figuring stuff out that was never before seen so it's fun it's cool is there talk about the touch is only yard talk yeah I don't really talk to too many other guys about it I like to keep my stuff in house kind of kind of like secret formula like not ready to put my items on the menu yet um until it comes time but I think once season gets going you're going to see similar Trends amongst guys did you yeah I've worked with a couple coaches my main coach is a guy named Andrew gance in Ohio um trained me in college and has stuck with me so I I owe a lot to him the Kohl's guys with Cole's kicking Jamie Cole Luke radkey um and then Nick Novak put on an event out in San Diego for for a bunch of guys to go out and train which was a really cool cool experience you get cler Slater last year coup is man he's the best Slater's the best I'll stand on that table till like the day I die that Matthew Slater is one of the best humans I've ever ever come across so I'm I'm super fortunate as is everyone here um even though it was only a year playing together um that's a year I'll certainly treasure forever I mean the same way he's done it for the last um teth years like just being the great dude and role model of work ethic how to treat people character father man of God um everything that Slater stands for and represents is something I aspire to be as I continue to grow you go back to the fundamentals you mentioned since the spring to now how much of that is your your preparation for each Kick team pring the kick or you speaking mechanically in the process of the kick yeah I think that's a good question good question um know no I I think at the end of the day it's it's understanding that this is the NFL we're pros and it's going out there with an attack each time and knowing that my technique and fundamentals will provide um the results I look for with deviation of error being between that margin that still still goes in um and just having that trust in myself the fundamentals and the guys around me is what it comes down to at the end of the day regarding the new kickoff the difference now you can't put the ball SL you guys love this new kickoff it's it's a kick it's a kickoff theid of it though the fact that you're mean you're kind of still learning what what it's going to be like on day one from the League's perspective how difficult does that make it the fluidity of it I mean I feel like you're getting me to say it's going to be hard I no I think it's fun I think it's fun it's another fast of the game that everyone has to grow and adapt to and that's what makes guys in this league Elite everyone's able to grow adapt and um week one it's going to be really exciting and then all the way through to the end of the season and playoff Super Bowl could end up being the end of the season you see something you never seen before so that's like the little special magic of it all um yeah's that kickers more invol who knows your guess is as good your guess is as good as mine we'll see when we get there I know you don't want to do the dissertation but as far as like the changes in fundamentals and techniques to just illustrate like was doing this the off was a little different what pick one pick one um probably just my stance longer you go if you watch it Andrew you'll be able to see it right away no TV TV to hear you'll be able to see it I know you watched me pitch in high school Andrew you got you got you know me well enough fundamentally embody yeah see he yeah you're with me you're with me I love it I love it yeah cool good awesome
