On this somber September 11th in Saint Louis. Indeed, we shall not forget the tragic events of September 11th 2001 as we welcome you to Busch Stadium in Saint Louis for game two of a three game series between the Cincinnati Reds and the Saint Louis Cardinals. And it's a happy homecoming of sorts for Lance Lynn. It's been a while since he's toiled on the mound for the Cardinals back off of the for Lance Lynn and a nice addition here for this Cardinals rotation and lance Lynn welcome him back to the Cardinals rotation. It's been quite a while since the birdie right handers work. July 30th was the last time out there for lance Lynn and looking forward to having him back in the rotation. You know, he just brings a different five different energy to it. So his 22nd start of the jonathan India is the Reds leadoff man driven to center Siani going back, he'll have plenty of room to haul that in long at that. India retired on seven. Lance Lynn pitches de La Cruz the second batter in the game de la Cruz one extra base hit from 100 in his career. Boy, what a year he's had, there's a bullet to his from his knees. There's out number two. That is how you do it right there for the rookie to Jay Z. That was a hot shot. 112 miles an hour off the bat of his knees. Lance Lynn, four and two thirds innings away from 2000 as a big leaguer gunning for his 79th win on the mound as a Cardinal tonight. Now, Spencer Steer and he's off to a good start. Three up, three down, he strikes out Spencer Steers and the Cardinals are coming up at Busch Stadium for the Reds second start of the season. Third outing for Brandon Williamson as you watch Brandon Williamson, that hard cutter inside that is his bread and butter. Everything else works around that pitch. Mason wins back in the lineup tonight for the Cardinals. Full count pitch is outside. Good start. Mason N draws a leadoff walk. Here's the 01 pitch to Luke and Baker swinging this ball is in the air short left center field but on comes TJ Friedel, it will hang up. Friedel makes the catch. Baker is retired and there's one down no balls hit a strike for Goldschmidt Nguyen takes off. They got him picked off and he got in under the tag you commit on that first movement. That's exactly what he did. Put his head down, run, dived in and able to get in there easily. Right guy to get something done right here. Paul Goldschmidt in his, he has killed left handed pitching 322. The average hope he has over 1000 numbers. Not quite as high this year, but still very respectable. There's a shot in left field that's going to get down for a hit. Nguyen had to hold up just in case steer made a diving try. Goldschmidt, a base hit 1st and 3rd 1 out and Nolan Arenado is next grounded double play ball to second and de La Cruz got him double play. The Reds are able to work around the early trouble and Williamson works around the leadoff walk and there is your second out. This is Santiago Espinal. He's the Reds third baseman. That one is cut on and missed no advance by Espinol. Did he think he fouled it away? Apparently not. He's going to surrender the at bat and Lynn walks off the field with his glove on his back to back hits. That's how the top of the third starts. Reds admitted 1st and 3rd. Luke Maley zero for eight against Lance Lynn swing and a miss pays the price strikes him out. He's got three of those in the game. So here is India runner at first goes. The Cardinals will throw through the tag late Marte steals second and now they're at 2nd and 3rd with one out another strikeout. The pitch is swung on and missed and he struck him out back to back strikeouts runners in scoring position. Now he's got to deal with Ellie de La Cruz. Does it again. Strikes out three in a row after back to back hits. The big man is back and so his fastball Spencer steer leads off the Reds fourth. We're still scoreless here at the stadium in ST Louis. Now steer lines one down the right field line that's going to drop there and go into the right field corner for extra bases. He's on his way to second base and in standing with a leadoff double here in the fourth. Much better pass at that high fastball. This go round for Spencer. Steer tries to cut it at the top of the zone. Spencer goes right with it. The Reds zero for five with risk. Santiago Espinal struck out his first time. Steer takes off pitch up and away. Steer easily steals third base. That's his 25th swipe 11th pitch of the A B coming floated beyond second down base hit Steers scores and the Reds lead 10. Another clutch hit for Santiago Espinal. That is a timely hit. And what a heck of an at bat by Espinal. No. Arenado grounded into a double play. His first hand swinging a high fly ball to left center field at the track out of here. Big fly for arena his 16th of the year and the Cardinals have just tied it a glove sitting in the home run seeds are going to catch that ball every single time. Nice play young man and they will take a look at this. This was the original intent of replay, right? Boundary calls. Remember the Jeffrey Mayer home run play at Yankee Stadium, reaching over the fence supplied the power one to one our score and the Reds will have them at 1st and 3rd. Oliver Marmol is on his way out. So he's going to let lance Lynn face Elio de la Cruz here one ball, two strikes, breaking ball struck him out looking he's about three of those on the evening and save one for one of the biggest spots right here. So seven strikeouts for lance Lynn and lance one out away from completing five innings tonight. Stare, pops it up into shallow right walker says he's got room. He is something else and Then Mason win 12 swinging a foul tip held on to by Maley down on strikes, Pedro Paz and there's one down. The mix of pitches makes this fastball looks like a struck out his first time. 22 swings and pops it up foul third base side chasing it is Espinal and he will make the running catch in foul ground just beyond the Reds third base dugout that the start of third time through for Williamson swinging. He struck him out, got him with a change up and win beside himself, slams his helmet at the plate. In frustration. Williamson has punched out five through five. It's time for Matthew Libert to go to work. What a weapon this guy has turned out to be in this portion of games for the Cardinals. There's Tyran hard ground ball. What a backhand Thomas to JC is robbed two reds tonight. Oh my. That's the second great play we've seen by the Cardinal rookie second baseman in just his second game. Normally that's a base hit and Paul Goldschmidt, your batter 1st and 2nd 1 out home. A tie. Game one apiece. Fly all center well hit. Going back, still going back. Heads up the wall. Siani scores. Burleson stops at third. What a wild route by Siani and Goldsmid with a bullet off the center field fence gives the Cardinals the lead for that swing of the bat right there. Cardinals needed the big hit with runners in scoring position and who shows up? So, a two hit night for Goldschmidt, his sizzling September continues turn it over to Helsley saves leader in major league baseball game number 60. Looking for save number 40 4, 43 saves 20 have been perfect innings. Santiago Espinal stands in the way of that. Everybody up here at Busch Stadium s set the 2 to 2 Cardinals win it 2 to 1. He's perfect at home. And that's a Redbird winner and the Cardinals win this 12 to 1 as they light up the night in downtown Saint Louis
