this is the most disrespected football team in the NFL and I don't think it's particularly close I really want to talk about this today and I think we're going to do a film study in the future for the Rams defense as well because I want to know more about Kobe Turner and Ernest Jones and the rest of those guys that have built this defense with young talent and the pieces they've added in free agency and stuff this offseason and I just think that people are really badly overlooking the Rams right now I was looking at the Super Bowl ws and we're going to get into all the details of the roster and the 2024 draft and all of those things in today's video so if you're a Rams fan I want your opinion on this like who are the guys that are going to break out this year I think you have so much talent that is about to take a massive step in 2024 and yeah you lost Aaron Donald but like the team looks really good to me and like the Super Bowl odds right so we've got like teams like the Philadelphia Eagles at600 or plus 1600 the Dallas Cowboys plus 1600 the Houston Texans who obviously took that kind of Quantum Leap last year at 1600 Green Bay plus 1800 with Jordan love the LA Rams are plus 3,300 to win the Super Bowl this year as of right now using the beton app that I'm using right those are the same odds as the Chicago be and the LA Chargers are plus 3500 having just lost their two star receivers and rebuilding a team Under New Management with head coach Jim Harbor and all the things that they're looking to do right the Rams are in a much much stronger position than both Chicago and the LA Chargers and I would have the more on a Level Playing Field with the likes of the Philadelphia Eagles way further ahead than teams like like we're looking at the New York Jets at plus 25500 the Atlanta Falcons at plus 2500 these teams have a better like better chance of winning the Super Bowl than the Rams this year I disagree with that entirely I think this Rams team is superb there is so much to like about it they had a really strong finish to the season last year so we're going to break it all down in today's video this Rams team last season was seventh in QB sack percentage allowed they were ninth in points per game all season long seventh in total passing yards per game 12th in total rushing yards per game and that was with Kiren Williams missing a whole chunk of the season in the middle as well and still somehow finished in the top 12 both in passing and rushing on the offensive side of the ball then they had several breakout talents on the defensive side including rookie Kobe Turner Byron young Ernest Jones like this defense was going places last season and they spent the majority of their draft capital on the defensive side in the 2024 draft to further bulk it out and make it look even better going into the 2024 season then you look at their schedule last year they won seven of their last eight games last year they beat the Browns they beat the commanders they beat the Saints they beat the Giants they beat the 49ers without Brock pie and a lot of the starters but Carson Wentz was starting for the Rams equally so I just think it's a really well- coached team and down the stretch last year they were one of the hottest teams in the NFL they got Cooper cup back they got kyen Williams back and things really started to tick for them and had they beaten the lions in that playoff game who knows how far they would have gone look how close it was they lost 24 to 23 and if you remember they had a third down conversion for a touchdown to Cooper Cup in that wild card game like it went incomplete they kicked the field goal and that ended up being the difference that cost them that game where they weren't able to get it over the line like they had multiple chances late in that game to compete with Detroit and they just fell slightly short like they were so close and to get as you know they've got better this offseason and like like just to have them so far down the ranks in the Super Bowl rankings is way off to me so I want to run through free agency and just look at what they've done this offseason they didn't make a whole ton of Moves In free agency but I did think that they made a really really smart couple of plays in the secondary so I'll get into that I just think like to me lesne is one of the best roster builders in the NFL as a general manager and he and sha McVey in terms of the uniton between general manager and head coach I think to me from an outside perspective I'm not a Rams fan the two of them have done such a great job in continuing to work together and build this roster obviously they've already claimed one Super Bowl and now in a with a completely different roster that is almost entirely unrecognizable from the last one they're looking to do it again and I really think they're going to be back in the conversation both in the NFC West and in the NFC overall this year they can compete with San Francisco I don't know why that seems like such an alien concept so the biggest move of free agency was to pluck Jonah Jackson away from the Detroit Lions and have him come over as the starting guard for the Rams on a three-year $51 million deal now he plugs a gap in the offensive line where he will play left guard Steve is going to move into Center and I really like that move for the Rams long term as well and when you go back to free agency and you look at the guys that they lost um that means that the only real change on the offensive line was Coleman Shelton who was the center for the Rams last year moves on to Chicago then you get AA come in to play center for them going forward and Jonah Jackson will be the starting guard so not really much of a change they keep that offensive line together for the most part Rob havenstein and Kevin doson on the on the right side Remains the Same Steve aier moves into Center who was one of the best second round picks in last year's draft proved to be immediately effective as a starter for the Rams and now will take over as the long-term center for the franchise that is huge to have the guy in the building that you feel is going to replace that position long term and then to sign somebody on a three-year deal who will play left guard and all Jackson I don't know how to say his first name I did literally just realize that as I said it out loud is it allic allic Jackson I'm not 100% sure but has also developed from a mid- round pick in three years into the starting left tackle for the franchise they're building internally they bring guys in from like the third to the sixth round who develop into long-term starters for the franchise like not many teams are doing that at the level that the Rams are right now so back to free agency clearly the secondary was something that they wanted to address with some intent during that kind of free agency spending period right so they bring back Darius Williams who's now like 31 years old but he gets a three-year deal to come back to the Rams having been in Jacksonville for the past two seasons had four interceptions last season so he'll likely be a starter and probably alongside travius white as well now there are other pieces in the building that we'll talk about Kobe Turner is one of those but travius white now he's not the player that he used to be there is no doubt in my mind like like I totally accept that you know he's played I think he's played 10 games in the last two seasons he had the ACL tear in 2021 that cost him most of the 2022 season uh and then the Achilles tear in like week four of last season that cost him the rest of that year as well so he has been injured he's had lower body injuries but to bring him on a one-year $4 million deal as a former pro bowler who could come in and be the franchise starting number one corner if he is able to kind of be back at his best he's absolutely going to start for the Rams and we'll just kind of see what see what happens with it you know but this could be a pro it deal for him for one year and then he ends up signing a long-term kind of $30 million extension if he's good this year we will see but I think a two-year extension for him if he's healthy this season is within the cards and then the other one is Cam C two years $9 million for a starting who like a couple of seasons ago was looking like one of the greatest emerging safeties in the NFL in that season that he had with the commanders so he comes over he will also start for the Rams and then you get Cam kinchin in the draft and we'll talk about that but this secondary will be entirely different in 2024 to how it was last season and then that brings us on to the 2024 NFL draft right so there was a very very clear plan behind this in my mind for the Rams to focus entirely on the defense and that considering the offense they had last year and the gem that they found in pukan Aura who might go down as the best fifth round wide receiver of all time like just had the most phenomenal rookie season and a lot of people are sort of saying like maybe it was a fluke maybe like people just didn't have enough tape on him or something no he's just Elite he's just extremely good and he's going to be continue to be extremely good going forward we will have to see what that looks like long term like whether puka Aura will become the pure wide receiver one uh in the eventual like when Cooper Cup's career begins to wind down you know what's going to happen there but we don't need to worry about that yet so for this year they just have an elite group at wide receiver two Elite running backs we'll talk about Blake corm and an offensive line that is going to be one of the best if not like top five offensive line in the NFL protecting Matt Stafford and like you just have all the pieces so the draft you go Jared verse in round one who is a game recer when he wants to be now I'll be honest I didn't quite have a first round grade on Jared verse just because a couple of the G and I'm no Scout you know but a couple of the games that I watched he he kind of went missing a little bit and I kind of it reminded me a little bit of Kavon Tibido like when he's on he's really on and he can make plays that will change a game in an instant you know force a fumble and recover it in the back field that sort of thing powerful Edge rusher high energy a lot of that sort of stuff but there's other games where it's like where did he go you know so I do want to see how that plays out in the NFL how he'll kind of develop in the system but I think in Schuler's defense you know like Schuler has done an incred obviously comes from a legendary football family um but Chris Schuler has done some really good things with that defensive line in the past last few years and now obviously will'll take over as the defensive coordinator for the Rams H and what he'll kind of do with the new pieces he's got which is you know there were four players drafted on the defensive line so they get Jared ver in the first round then they traded up from 52 to 39 to get Braden Fisk in the second round and Braden Fisk was graded as the best player at the Senior Bowl in practice so he got the practice player of the week that week in the Senior Bowl just like again game recer someone's going to create a difference in the back field is going to create a lot of pressure up the middle who's going to pair with Kobe Turner and like that's going to be a lot of fun to watch again the offensive line could easily be top five offensive line in the NFL and the defensive line could easily match that even with Aaron Donald being out the door like they could still very very easily have one of the best defensive lines in football this coming season then sticking with the defense just for now cam kinchin like so the reason that cam kinins dropped into round three is because he didn't grade well in the pre-draft process but when you watch the film and actually study the tape on cam kinins he's he looks like super fast sideline to sideline uh great ball Hawk can come downhill and play against the run so again like you pair him with Cam curl and I think you have a great secondary at that safety position um and he'll probably eventually take over the starting safety role in my mind and from what I've read it looks like you're going to get Cam kinchin and cam Cur will play the that's I didn't until now realize they both have the same name anyway those two free safety strong safety and then Quinton Lake who again is somebody who has been a late round pick that's kind of emerged and developed as internal Talent with the Rams um to play more of kind of that slot nickel role so that seems like from what Rams Fans are saying and from what kind of the study says that he will probably fit better into that role and cam kinins will be the starting safety so this is one of the reasons that I want to watch some film on the Rams because I want to know more about these guys I want to know more about Quinton Lake Ernest Jones Kobe Turner and some of those other guys on the roster so I think a Rams defensive film study might be coming up on the channel cuz the x's and stuff that I'm doing at the moment is something that I enjoy so much so I want to make sure that we're doing more of that so continuing with the defensive Trend then they get Brennan Jackson out of Washington state who was labeled as Mel Mel Ker's favorite defensive end in the 2024 draft s like super athlete like really talented athlete has got the build of an NFL Edge rusher and seems like someone who you get in the fifth round that you could plug and play like yeah okay he's not going to start immediately but like this is one of those things where he'll have just as much opportunity early on to kind of work into the rotation and he'll probably come in around you know play like 30 40% of snaps or something like that but this guy has huge potential and then they get Tyler Davis as another defensive tackle in round six so four of their first six picks or four of their you know nine 10 picks overall in you know you know what I'm saying four of the first six picks that they made were all defensive linemen and the only guy they drafted offensively was Blake corm which now gives them one of the best onew punches in the running back room in the NFL I mean what Kiren Williams did to break out in last year's season was unbelievable like he had what 1100 yards in 12 games played like he was effective in the Run he was effective in the pass he was effective on the goal line like like what Kiren Williams did last season was phenomenal he played in what was it 12 Games 4 8 12 maybe 13 games including the playoffs 12 touchdowns over 1,200 yards in that time five yards per carry in the NFL the problems that the Rams have had with the offensive line in recent years they have fixed them the offensive line Looks phenomenal the Run game's going to be great and now they've got Blake corm to add to that as well this could be a team that has like 1,800 rushing yards this season easily and when you go and look at his ability to kind of contribute in the receiving game as well another 215 yards another three touchdowns in the receiving game and then Blake corum's going to be able to add to that even further as well so the only question that I would have about the offense right now when you look at this you know like Matt Stafford's taken them to a Super Bowl already no problem then they bring Jimmy Garoppolo in back up who obviously knows Mike lefur and Mike lefur gave Jimmy G his best season as a pro in the NFL in that year that he had in 2019 team with the San Francisco 49ers when lefl was the passing game coordinator so they have the pieces and and the good thing about this here is like the depth even if they have somebody go down Jimmy G is one of the like I I don't believe that Jimmy G should be a permanent starter in the NFL at this point in his career but he's one of the better backups that you're going to get like so vast Improvement in terms of like the support that you have for Matt Stafford there then you get Kiren Williams and Blake corms and now you have this incredible onew punch of like one of the better running backs in the 2024 draft playing behind one of the best offensive lines in football and some of these highlight plays of like um Alaric Jackson and Steve a and stuff getting downfield in the Run game the Rams are going to bully people on the ground this coming season now they have two guys that can do that so they're even better in that position and that's without factoring in the fact that they have puka nura and Koopa cup as like of the best receiving du Duos in football how is this team being so badly overlooked as a Super Bowl Contender and then the defense now of course you lose Aaron Donald but Chris Schuler who has been working with that defensive line now takes over as the defensive coordinator and what he did with Kobe Turner and Byron young and like the guys that have been developing in this Ram system if that work of his as a portfolio is anything to go by he's going to do a great job as a defensive coordinator and he's Don Schuler's grandson like this this like he's comes from football legend you know to into the game and is now going to make his own name for himself as the defensive coordinator with the Rams and like the development of those two guys like Kobe Turner last year was one of the biggest success stories in all of football his 11 sacks from the interior position like when you look at these numbers this guy was a third round pick last season out of Wake Forest right and this is what I'm talking about with like lesne and Shawn McVey being able to build a roster that they love because like his his contribution was immediate like he had two sacks in the first three games of the Season he had multiple games with multiple sacks and one of the things I get here is that we'll have to see how he fares without Aaron Donald playing next to him I you know you're going to get a lot less attention when Aaron Donald is playing alongside you on the defensive line again I completely appreciate that but that's why they bring in guys like Braden Fisk and I'm not saying they're going to be Aaron Donald but you have a lot more Talent immediately to refill those gaps to kind of keep pushing and keep moving on like this game he ruined into the New York Giants in week 17 almost single-handedly but to get 12 sacks in total he was second behind only mad BK with the Baltimore Ravens and Chris Jones with the Kansas City Chiefs both of which are now getting paid a fortune to do what they do while Kobe Turner is a third round draft pick who will be on a on a very affordable salary for at least the next two or three seasons then you've got Byron young who like another third round pick from last year's draft this time from Tennessee the LA Rams found 19 sacks last season in two picks in the third round of the 2023 draft 19 sacks from two rookies like it's it's just amazing to watch and this is why I want to watch the film so like if you guys sort of if there are particular players you think I should focus on or a particular game you would like me to watch drop me a comments I need your guys opinion on this team as Rams Fans and as fans of the NFL in general but I want to go and watch a defensive game maybe that Giants game or something where we can watch these guys and see how they play together because I want to know how much of an impact Aaron Donald has on on these guys being able to have production and maybe what that means for them in terms of challenging them without him this coming season so I do want to obviously pay some attention to that and I'm not naive to it either I completely understand that that is going to have an impact but when you look at this like they they traded up for Braden Fisk who was one of the most uh disruptive defensive linemen available in the 2024 draft then they've got Kobe Turner who is one of the best defensive linemen in football last year in terms of the disruptive getting up the middle getting sacks in interior pressure Byron Jones coming off the Ed they added Jared verse in the first round Ernest Jones and I don't say this lightly Ernest Jones could be the best middle linebacker in football like like he could be the best linebacker in football this coming season he's that good he's taking that much of a leap and again mid- round Talent they've developed internally they are building a superstar roster here but people just like they're not the household names necessarily so people aren't paying attention to them there is no reason that this roster should be like and and this isn't disrespect to the bears but there's no reason this should be less likely to win the Super Bowl than the Green Bay Packers or than the Miami Dolphins or like on the same Level Playing Field as the Chicago Bears who've just rebuilt the entire roster with a rookie quarterback like Caleb Williams can be as good as you want but like Matt Stafford's already won a Super Bowl and this is one of the best offensive lines best wide receiver rooms in football it's proven already I just don't see the gaps in it and I like I would love your guys' opinion on this as so like as Rams Fans like and be honest with me where do you feel like the holes are in this team I do think that depth at wide receiver is a potenti potential risk and obviously we need to see how this secondary gels together like there's a lot of new pieces in there that are already going to be like having to learn how to play and communicate together that can take some time sometimes totally you know totally appreciate that and it's a young team you know they the particularly the defense they're going to have to learn some things as it gets down the stretch as they get into the playoffs and that sort of thing but I really don't see many weaknesses in this team and I see a ton of depth across the board you know like we were talking about with the corners you've got Kobe Durant um playing behind travius white and Darius Williams or maybe he's playing in front of travius white we don't know that yet but cam kinchin can come in at safety you've got Quinton Lake that you can move around into different positions on that defense even Darien Kendrick Trey Tomlinson the further down the the in the secondary you get you've still got more pieces there that can contribute and the same is true on the defensive line now with the addition of people like Brennan Jackson in this year's draft class so I don't know man I'm looking at this like I look at the coordinators I'm looking at like the way that team is coached with Shawn McVey they've been there before they know how to do that you know they've built this phenomenal roster and and and yeah like they've lost a couple of pieces but for the most part this looks like a great football team and a really fun football team to watch and one that I think we should do a lot more study on with the film and stuff so if you guys want to see that please do leave me a comment I just I kind of wanted to show some respect to the Rams because I feel like they're being disrespected with you know great coaching great football great young Talent great emerging players and so many other things so let me know where you guys are at as fans who do you think's emerging who do you think the gu are that are going to take that massive step this year I think Ernest Jones and Kobe Turner are two of the obvious ones there um but maybe we see like 22 outwell has a breakout year maybe Blake corm is one of the best rb2s in football you know we we don't yet know but I am excited to see how this plays out because I think this is one of the better football teams in football and definitely the most overlooked in terms of the kind of Super Bowl odds going into 2024 so drop me a comment give me your guys feedback let me know where you're at with the Rams right now I appreciate you being here subscribe for the X's and O's cuz we're going do a couple of film studies let me know if there's a particular game that you want to watch and I will see you guys in the next video thank you so much for tuning in have a great day
