what is going on everyone my name is Jared hos and welcome back to another edition of NASCAR mailbox this weekend we're going to take a look back at the action at Michigan International Speedway if you were watching the NASCAR cups Series race at Michigan International Speedway on Sunday you only got to see one stage before rain came and delayed the race until Monday morning fans were upset on social media begging for 1 pm start times so they had that window to get the race in and like I said beforehand there was not any rain in the area where there could have been a chance to get the an official race on Sunday in but NASCAR had this race start later on and that ran into the window where the race had to be delayed and he had quite a few fans that didn't show up on Monday now I'm a proponent of 1M starts as well but the big problem is is you've got TV is the ruler of everything in NASCAR because here's the biggest thing NASCAR ran a season more or less without any fans in 2020 they don't rely on ticket sales more or less to survive they need the TV deals to survive that is why you see so much of these you know 3 pm starts why are we starting 3 pm on the East Coast well like I said they want to have the end of the race to bleed into prime time because advertisers are going to be spending the most money on that because that's when most people watching on TV and I get that for most of the schedule but I would want to change one thing only have a couple races of year races where you do not have lights like Michigan like Pocono like Watkins Glenn and making that 1M start time an event that has been the keyword for these other new changes that been relatively successful I've been in Chicago if you look back at the recap coverage of Chicago you hear that e word quite a bit that an event why not are we making like a Michigan or a Pocono which is seems like an already event with fans flocking to the racetrack and saying it's an event here we want to make sure we get the most of the race that we can and not you know wait around before rain comes in understandably that's going to be a little bit few dollars lost on NASCAR's end if they run beforehand because you're not getting much ad revenue from the TVs but I feel like the solution is you only have one or two of those races that are 1 pm starts that you know you can't have you don't have lights at those tracks you can't just be like oh we'll just run it at 800m kind of like with Kansas this you know Kansas and some other tracks that have been rain delayed because you know what those fans they paid good money on it and those are your die hards that's who you're trying to get after as well I understand TV brings in a lot of casual fans but those fans that are at the racetrack are the ones that spent money to travel there to Lodge for tickets for concessions and you know merchandise all this type of stuff they made an investment into the sport and this is how they're paid back I wish there was just a couple races you have 1 pm Market is event as this is a fans experience this is why you want to come out the racetrack we make sure to get it in done as we can markting is that I think it would be successful but understand this I wouldn't be shocked if it doesn't happen because TV rules law because that's where the money's at for nasar and this next question comes from CSX train fan 319 they ask why did Kyle se's flaps flaps fail and Le Joy's flaps didn't keep the car on the ground well if was a flip tastic race this past weekend you had two almost identical flips happening in the back straight away with Kyle SE and Corey lejoy I'll start with se's flip um it didn't help with Chandler Smith making contact with him and pushing him into um basically being airborne and with the weather that's going on in Michigan you saw the the uh rain that came through on Sunday and I mean rain was affecting the weekend you had a a strong system where wind Gus can get up they're pretty good and also you had the factor of Chandler Smith hitting him and that's going to make that's going to affect the aerodynamics of Carr and guess what it doesn't matter if you're going 15 miles per hour or 215 miles per hour there's always a chance if you hit something right you can still flip in a thing and like I said they still look similar but I would more contribute that to being involved in Iraq Chandler Smith making just the right contact into Kyle SE compared to Cory Le Joy flip it seems like this nextgen's car if they get him a little bit past perpendicular the rear being a little bit more you know basically facing five o' they started to get airborn and I looked very similarly at the Harrison Burton flip and Cory lejoy the cars were at a relatively same angle when they started getting airborne and Harrison Burton probably had some help with the contact sure but seems like with these designs with these next gen cars you get them just a little bit to 5:00 perpendicular in the track and you've got the the winds in there you're going to have a car that's going to flip over um even when you have roof flaps deploy like that so I'm no engineer I'm not going to tell you this is what needs to be done to Next Gen car but it seems that has been a Common Thread with that so far with these two flips is seems like the launch angle um that seems like a ba it's a baseball term but uh it's going to happen with those aerodynamics there's going to be a point where something's just going to blow over on that point but so two different factors that caus a Rel relatively similar looking flips thank you very much for watching as always like And subscribe that really helps get our content out to you guys and as always until next time make sure to have a great race weekend what's up hi
