EA College Football Simulations Game 23 North Texas @South Alabama (8/31/24 Prediction)

[Music] welcome to the Port City Mobile Alabama home to the South Alabama Jaguars Hancock Whitney stadium and we have been fired up about this match all week there's just something about the night cap after a day of wall toall football it just seems this is when chaos ensues as we'll see a squad from the AAC the north Texas breed taking on a team from the Sun Belt the South Alabama jagar EA Sports college with you alongside David P and Jessie Palmer time to get this game started underway here it comes from inside his own five he was looking for some Running Room not much to be found as he stopped at the 18 the jagar off will start this game off and these guys involve everybody in the passing game and N more prominent than this big fell the quarterback knows he's going to be under in this game so who do you look for the tight end so nice to have a security play [Music] went to the running game on first down now here they come again Red Pass it's complete tackled but he has a first down you know often times these slot receivers they're not the biggest guys in the world but they're really good at finding the Open Spaces in the middle of the field and you saw that guy attack the defense in the perfect spot making life easy for his QB St this one from the 30 on First and 10 wide on their hand they're trying to make plays right trying to make you miss there's nothing better than closing that Gap and sticking that head right in that guy's chest and causing a fumble couldn't ask for better field position for this offense takes the hand off it's Evans across the 25 he's got room and it is a chunk play a huge gain on that one before the defense brings it to an end yeah I tell you what I'm always keeping track as a defensive coordinator of where they're running the football you can see they ran it to the right do they like this matchup is the right side of their offensive line really good I'm going to be paying attention to that cuz that's a big gain I got to make sure I shut this down the next time they run it to the ground he's got it again strikes to blow gets it all the way down to the 2yd line he was fighting for that end zone and this running back right now is sending a very clear message he doesn't want to just be known as a guy that can run around you or run away from you he wants you to know he can lower the shoulder and get those tough yards if need be North Texas will come to the line with a first and goal they'll try to get it in with the run and he takes it in for the score touchdown mean green follow the blockers the offensive VI will take you to the Hallelujah land and I tell you what most of the time Reese it requires a little bit of skill to find that hole and you know Slither through a little crack that was not a crack that was wide open didn't take a lot of vision cuz the blocking was [Music] outstanding lining up to tack one more onto that lead and he's got the extra point and it's 7even nothing to start this one quick strike offense on that three-play scoring drive and finish to deal with the short touchdown run from the two the kickoff team out there and ready to go he'll take the return and try to improve the field position and they'll haul down the returner to start us on the next Drive the Jaguars offense ready to go back to work as it turns out the fumble on that last Drive set up the touchdown David and there's no bigger stat football than turnovers you turn the football over they turn it into points Jesse that is not a recipe for Success good news though they get another chance right they can make amends with this drive right here that's all that's important you've got to execute you've got to lock in got three on first down it's second and seven Lopez to pass he finds a soft spot in the middle and he's knocked down immediately but not before he moves the chains I really like this slot receiver and I understand he's not the biggest guy in the world but he just runs really good routes and he's always under control he can run option routs he can run double moves he does a great job cutting and he's dangerous after the catch nice weapon to have work in the middle of the field here's the handoff and he'll run across the sidelines after the good gain man when I can run the football like that on first down and create G second and inches and and stay way ahead of the sticks and and be in a position now where I can throw the football or run I will have a lot of success on the offensive side of the football here comes the offense on second down off the play fake got his man quickly the Jaguars will have a first down these routes have some reads and adaptability built in and the big fella found that cushion and made the play man it's so awesome how much offenses evolved they know exactly what they're getting where to sit down quarterback tight end on the same page gets the first down wants to throw on first down off the play fake finds his Target down the middle and he was fortunate not to lose yardage on that play able to wedge it back to the line of scrimmage nice job defense you always hear people talk about tackling the catch you saw it right there there was nowhere for that receiver to go once he had possession as a result no game let's see what they've got on second down he's looking to throw nowhere close on that one as he got drilled trying to deliver the football and now they face third down there's a good example of how pressure on the quarterback can affect his accuracy there was no way that ball was being completed now facing a third and long Lopez wants to Fire and the quarterback is snowed under third and long situation we're bringing an extra DB on the field and we're telling our front guys to pin your ears back get the and they get the job done [Laughter] the team good company up way and the pass complete but there is AAG down on the pl see what that's about and the off will take the penalty move the ball forward and save the down from the gun running back on the move they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one so you get stucked on first down you had an idea IDE of what you wanted to do on second but I'm guessing it's back to the drawing board now yeah you got to figure out who you are and what you are uh what's your next best play or what is the defense going to do they've been aggressive okay well if they've been aggressive throw that def ball if they've been sitting back I might sneak a draw in here looking to throw it's Morris finds his tight end how about this backer in pass coverage and bringing the big hit stick with him too that's a great example of the defense there tackling the catch as soon as the big fell caught the ball down he went not picking up the first third down conversions are a huge stat and this one would be a doozy if they can pull it off from the gun wants to pass can't make the connection on third down thanks to that tough hard-nosed pass defense and now it's Fourth Down third and long situations are really hard to convert the defense knows it's going to be passed the pass rushers are getting up field you're under pressure you don't have timing and as a result now fourth down North Texas will have to punt it away he ought to be able to use his first punt to pin him deep and it looks as if there will be no return here as the punt goes out of bounds South Alabama has it back to Jaguar offense going to work leaves it with the running back picks his way and gets four out to the 27 man down on the play as the officials take a break to let him be checked out after the productive first down play it's second and six now the play fake and it'll be incomplete this defense is physical and pass deep what a hit by the defender that's a good throw and that was going to be caught but how about the defender dislodging the football from its intended target nice job balls at the 27 this offense facing a third and long here's the snap looking to throw and the pressure gets there and down he goes at the 18 that's a bad sign for the offense you're trying to throw screen passes to try to negate the pass rush from the defense that time the pass rush even got home on a screen pass and the Jaguars line up to punt it away this will be a second time they've had to kick it away he's got great speed and the punt team gets down there and gets the Return Man On The Ground North Texas sends the offense back onto the field they'll have another opportunity to extend this lead after punting last time David and it's important to put that punt behind you it's it's over let it go get back to what you were doing that built this lead P yeah and defense obviously they won a few Downs uh that last drive so we got to put them on their heels here maybe mix up a few Personnel groupings and try to show them some pictures they haven't seen yet North Texas in the hurry up they're trying to slow that Rush down with the draw and they drag him down but not before he picks up the first down great job by the quarterback the running back and the offensive line really selling pass that's step one if you're going to run an effective draw it's got to look like pass and then boom you sneak it right to the running back gets a big gain and gets a first down they'll snap it from the 39 first and 10 used the play fake now to throw strong pass rush gets to the quarterback and they get him at the 46 but when it's a play action pass that quarterback he really has to sell the fake he can't tell his offensive lineman's getting beat right away while he's selling the fake he had no [Music] shot big first down sack for the defense brings up second down to the air it's Morris and that's going to fall to the ground incomplete that was a physical matchup there third down coming and the big tight end a lot of times that's a bigger Strike Zone a bigger dude and you can tell they put the hit on him and that ball came out and it came to the turf nice job playing physical by this defense I'm not positive but that first down marker might be in the County going for it all Bron inside the 10 and he takes it all the way they couldn't stop him touchdown North Texas quarterbacks love receivers that can get separation but that amount of Separation uh is a little excessive I agree Ree and I think the defense needs to have a little powwow on the sidelines and talk about what just happened because that was an absolute busted coverage on the back end defense can't keep playing like that on to attempt the try and the extra point pushes to lead to 14 a very efficient five playay scoring drive and they finished with a big play a touchdown strike from the 46 just about set to kick it away he'll start the return inside his SP he was looking for some Running Room but not much to be found as he stopped at the 18 guys we'll have another look at this South Alabama offense to say this has been a and the heat gets there and they get him down at the 14 yd line well I think one of the biggest reasons why this team is finding themselves in a hole here in the first half is this has been a sack party they can't keep the defense off of their quarterback they haven't been able to get the ball deep down the field throwing it with the consistency they want because they can't keep their quarterback standing up straight they need something that goes forward this time on second and long from the 14 Lopez to pass gets it out fast they make the stop but not before he takes a chunk out of what they need to move the sticks well I know the tight end did some good things after the catch but got to give the quarterback credit too for the location of the throw because he put it out in front of his big man he was able to make the catch and accelerate creating some distance there between him and the defense on third down he'll try to pick it up through the air he's got his man he'll get it up to about the 32 yd line before he stopped and it'll be first down that's got to feel really good for this quarterback it's early in the game so these third Downs are big you're trying to get your offense into a rhythm and a flow nice job reading the defense of beautiful pass the Jaguars have it with a first and 10 used the play fake now to throw fires to the big F and he'll make his way out of bounds after the solid pick up I like this tight end he does a really nice job on his route running he's been beating man coverage he can find the soft spots and zones you got to get him involved wide outs oh wed up in a [Music] bunch from the gun the running back has it they'll get the first down it's spotted on the 49 well at first you don't suce see try try again right it's been really hard for this offense in this game to run the football but they finally break off a big run there that could be the play they need to really generate momentum and get this run game going the Jaguars are rolling down the field he'll do it himself they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one and as a defensive player you see so much option nowadays and so many different variants of it and you got to play very very disciplined sound football and you could tell he knew he was responsible for the quarterback he goes and gets him sits him on the ground creates a tackle for a loss lost one on that last one it's second and 11 the playaction fake lost one deep down the right side and this is dropped incomplete pass he had a huge gain in his fingers and he couldn't hold on what a play by the defender there guys in his own end zone the offense has taken a shot and if that Defender was just one step behind that would have been a touchdown but the hit forces the incompletion Lopez wants to fire buys a little time trying to make magic on the scramble and he scoots his way to the first down and then slides to avoid the hit nice way to H for the QB he a really good scrambling get first down and get that is a win and the Jaguars moving quickly to the line from the gun the ground game they get him down but he does pick up three to the 32 yd line I'll tell you this is a running back who's very very dangerous and the defense did a good job but they got do a great job g t guy that can break into home runs three second and seven from the gun he leaves it with the back defense there to stop him after a gain of three but he is inside the 30 to the 29 they probably feel good about their field goal chances from the 29 but they'd love to convert this third and short from the wants to pass under pressure and down he goes at the 33 what a great job by this defense setting the tone early in the first half they've been hitting the quarterback early and often make him feel uncomfortable make him feel that pressure keep getting him on the ground that's why they built the lead they'll try to cap off this drive with the field goal he's going to try to knock one through from 49 yds away oh and he missed it no good and after the Miss it's still a 14-point game [Music] North Texas takes possession the mean green offense will return to the field that last Drive really productive David wound up with a touchdown they'll try to do it again yeah so I don't expect this offense to change too much Reese they had a great Drive they got the touchdown everything working I would expect him to keep pushing this ball downhill and just imagine if they could put another touchdown on the board right here they could Capt so much momentum in this game with backto back TDS went to the running game on first down now second [Music] down looking to pass it's Morris using the quick game and the defense makes the immediate tackle but he has enough for the first down well they pick up the first against Zone coverage I think a big part of this for young quarterbacks out there is if you're going to be throwing into Zone coverage you got to throw on time you can't stare down receivers because the entire defense has their eyes on you so you can't Telegraph where the ball's going you've got to hold it to the very last possible second try to freeze Defenders with your eyes and then throw the ball into open areas of the field anticipating where your guy's going to be moving keeping the eyes down field still on his feet at the 45 he turns this into a nice gain and gets down to avoid the hit this is why everybody grows up and wants to be an offensive coord coordinator and not a defensive coordinator because he can do that he drops back he's supposed to pass but you know what I'll just scramble around and I I'll just go get plenty of yards and pick them up and put them down and I'm faster than most of your other guys too so good luck stopp him out of the shotgun they go to the ground crosses the 30 got away he wasn't far from taking it to the house and that'll be the final play of the first quarter that's the end of the quart and North Texas has the lead really strong performance so far to be able to build a lead here in the first period as we look at the stats North Texas has it going to work with another first down they'll give it to him again defense there to stop him at the 20 let's give him three yards on that carry well man there's some big hitting going on in the trenches right now this defense they take a lot of pride in stopping the Run let's keep our eye on them throughout the course of the game and see if they can contain this running attack North Texas in the hurry up now they're going to throw it got his man on the right they were able to get him stopped just shy of the first down marker really need to pick up this conversion and avoid having to settle for the field [Music] goal the run from the shotgun wrestled to the ground after picking up the first down North Texas will come to the line with a first and goal looking downfield it's Morris trying to get to him and he Sprints to the end zone touchdown mean green that's the kind of skill that makes guys Stars the improvisational skills the blinding speed the ability to make the big play and make defenses look silly just straight silly I mean what do you want me to do you put a guy that that's that athletic that fast at the quarterback spot now you're telling me to defend the Run defend the pass defend the scrambles I mean goodness gracious I I don't I don't know what you want a defense to do there's no stopping that guy ready to try the point after and with the extra point they pushed the lead out a little further they took it 68 yds on that drive and he found his way to the end zone from the seven to cap it about to kick it off after punching it in for the [Music] touchdown here's the return from inside is 10 really disciplined job by the coverage unit to get down there and make to stop at the 19 the Jaguars offense ready to go back to work they're down by 21 points but you got a touchdown here and you and the quarterback goes down at the 11 yd line you got to be impressed with this defense early in this game guys they've got a big lead because they are getting after the quarterback they've already generated multiple sacks they thought coming into this game they could take advantage of this offensive line and that game plan is working to perfection this pass rush has just been Relentless and you can bet your bottom dollar there're about to bring the heat again off play action using his feet to buy time he'll pull it down really nice stop there from this senior leader it's just so nice to have a QB under Center nowadays in football you can trust these guys you put so much on their plate and you tell them go get positive yards when it's there and a lot of these guys are such great athletes they do it with ease you make up the game plan and not a lot on the play sheet for this third and long from inside their own 20 he tosses one high and deep down the left side it's complete a huge pickup and they'll do more than move the chain they'll move that thing more than 30 yds down the field before he's finally sto the Jaguars racing to the line in the hurry up Lopez to pass oh he loves to fire down field and he cruises his way to the house touchdown Jaguars and what nice play design you get your Speedster you put him in the slot usually get a better match up and then what do you do you fade him towards that sideline run a go nice ball thrown way out whyde he just runs underneath it and just too much speed couldn't catch him gets in the end zone for [Music] six Pat unit on the field and after the extra point they're now down 21 to7 quick work on that scoring drive just four plays and they pay it off with a strike from 38 yds out lining up to cover the kick after that touchdown drive on the run from inside his own five he was looking for some Running Room but not much to be found as he stopped at the 18 North Texas sends the offense back onto the field unloads to the wide out complete to the right he'll get it up to about the 32 yd line before he stopped and it'll be first down as a Defender you use the sideline as the 12th man that's another guy you know the play stops there he can't make a catch great job by the wide receiver fighting for a space catching the ball and staying in bounds they'll snap this one from the 32 it's first down they'll put the tight end in motion the give out of the gun and he's able to shed one tackle and gets a pretty good pickup listen defense is about energy it's about passion it's about physicality they need a little bit more of that get the guy in the ground you can't let guys break tackles what could have been set up with a long yard situation now it becomes an easier situation because you couldn't get him on the [Music] ground they'll run it from the gun and the defense snows him under after a very short [Music] game they've got it at the 41 third and short trying to keep the change moving trying to pick it up on the ground they make the stop with this running game moves to change as they get the first down and that's all you want right you want that first down understand the situation understand I got to get North and South get a first down get a new set of downs North Texas really has it going on offense off the play fake on first down to throw makes the catch and steps out of bounds but sure to the first down Mark North Texas in the hurry up dropping back it's Morris fires to the wide out in complete and he threw that one up from gron into traffic fortunate to get it back man you know you always look back in games at single plays that turn the tide with this defense now trailing by two possessions if they could have just caught the ball and gotten that pick that potentially changes everything in this game that was a missed opportunity it's a draw he gets it to the 38 yd line and they'll pick up a fresh set of downs well this defense is on its heels right now especially trying to stop the run they're just not being physical enough they give up another run right there for a first down someone's going to have to step up and make a play North Texas has it going to work with another first down they're getting this guy lathered up and I think they'll give him two on that one second and eight coming up you know I think a big part of this isn't necessarily scoring a touchdown on that plate but you're just trying to get your offensive line in the rhythm of the game what those Big Fellas get lathered up picked up two yards on that last one they need eight on second down he's got it on the right he's brought down but there's a flag on the play let's see if it stands and [Music] those so the decision has been made and the coach will take the penalty line getting set on second down he's looking to throw makes a connection hard hitting tackle this receiver is so dangerous out in space and it's a nice job by the QB getting him the ball early on the curl route you see once he has it he's got some wiggle he's got some shake makes some Defenders Miss and gets up the field they've been really good moving the chains on third down now one yd away from another first down on this drive quarterback on the keeper that just never had a chance as they controlled the middle of the field and stopped him in the back field on third down well they were trying trying to set up the option but the quarterback had no chance did you see the defensive tackle penetrate what a great first step he shot right through the offensive line and got the tfl now on fourth down they'll try to come away with three never a doubt for this big-footed guy 49 yd field goal is good that lead just keeps getting fatter in this kickoff team doing a little running on the move from inside is five really disciplined job by the coverage unit to get down there and make the stop at the 19 South Alabama has it back the Jaguar offense going to work finds a little bit of space gets three to the 22 and a lot of times you want those big plays you want those Splash plays but sometimes you're going to take some losses you're not going to run the football overly well but if you continue to run it you can at least create some balance you at least have the of it otherwise you're just going to abandon it and now it's just going to be a passing game gets it out quickly and maybe he'll get back to the line of scrimmage but no more than that using him out of the slot he is just been Unstoppable and I love putting Dynamic athletes in the slot that I can move around that I can put in motion that I can I can make him go in or out I can put him off the ball so you can't get hands on him and they've really featured this guy guy today third and long and he'll try to throw for it and they get to the quarterback and knock him down back at the 16 and if your job is to irritate to confuse to hit to make quarterbacks feel very uncomfortable this defense is definitely doing their job six sacks that's the way to make the quarterback feel like he's having a hard day he's had no response this offensive line has no response just a sack party the Jaguars send out the punt unit fair catch called for and made North Texas takes possession the mean green offense will return to the field maybe they couldn't pay off that last drive with a touchdown now they move the ball down the field and executed like they wanted to until they stalled out and had to settle for a field goal I think if you want to take the next step two here and score a touchdown you got to start finding more creative ways to get your best players the ball let's see if they can do that here halfway there on first down it's second and five motion from the offense the give to the backat smashes through and he didn't have a whole lot of operating room after the Juke not much room to run I like feeding my guy I like getting my running back touches feeding the ball so he can break some of those big runs but I'm also okay with these little ones set the tone stay balanced they'll try to snap it quickly back to throw it's Morris fires to the right HS it in really good surge for this offense they move the chains and he's got it at the 34 this is exactly why third down is practiced every single day third and short third and medium third and long it's money down for a reason you got a lock in great success by the offense so far on third down North Texas in the hurry up out of the gun they give to the back he showed it all there a little lucidness a little power and he's got the first down looks as if we have an injury on that last play and we'll take a break to check him out north Texas really has it going on offense from the gun they'll give it on the inside they make the stop after a pick up of three balls at the 18 got three on first down at second and seven they give it to him again defense there to stop him after a pick up of two down to the 15 [Music] we'll see if they go back to the run here on third [Music] down from the gun wants to pass snags it works his way to the four yd line and they'll have it first and goal well they caught the defense off guard with that play right there here they are in field goal range is third and short you know the odds say it's going to be a run instead they throw it they get a big Play Now set up first and goal North Texas will come to the line with a first and goal receiver on the Move gets the touch pass and he won't be able to push his way in he stopped at the one and these little touch passes man they're just the easiest completions ever for quarterbacks Palmer I bet you would have loved being able to just Flip It Forward that counts as to your completion percentage which is good and then it's all run after the catch so pretty easy for a QB you wouldn't have been the only All-American in this booth David if I were allowed to put have Butch passes when I was playing quarterback I'll tell you that it is so hard to defend it's so hard to seal that edge especially when this guy's Full Speed Ahead coming around the [Music] [Music] side third and goal from the one and we'll see if they try it again through the air after the incompletion quick touch pass to the receiver touchdown North texus and they'll put that scoreboard operator to work and put six on the board man it's not an accident they're featuring this guy his second receiving touchdown of the game that's your job as a coach find my Playmakers get them the ball so they can do damage and have games like this right here he'll try to tack on one more point the kick is up and good and put one more on the lead that drive covered 55 yds for the score it was capped off by a Oney touchdown pass the kickoff team out there set to boot it away he'll bring it back from inside as five didn't find any crease in that kickoff coverage and he'll be stopped at the 17 guys we'll have another look at this South Alabama offense they'll run the RPO and Fire to the right [Music] second down here and maybe they've got time to get one more snap off before the two-minute warning we've made our way to the two-minute warning and now they'll try to at least cut a little something off of this lead before the break second down coming up Lopez wants to fire throws to the wide out incomplete thanks to the great defensive pressure there that sort of threw them out of rhythm well the quarterback knew where he wanted to go with the ball it's intended target just wasn't open so the quarterback made sure he put that football in the STS that last incomplete pass has him staring at a third and three they'll try to get the first through the air unloads it downfield Reon end on the left side and a giant chunk of yardage picked up there and they're down to the 24 I know it's early in the game but defensively after that play you know you have to tackle the catch when this guy gets the ball in his hands he is so dangerous after the fact so it's okay for him to make catches just got to get him to the ground quickly this offense has to be feeling it after that last one and it'll snap it first and 10 just outside the 20 he's got his man across the middle and that's where they'll Mark him but a very productive play and they'll move the chains this defense is being challenged and this secondary in particular and I know ad DB made the tackle there but we're only in the second quarter and already this quarterback has over 200 yds passing and the Jaguars will snap it on First and 10 from the Red Zone looking for a man catch open down the middle and good coverage by the defense just a short gain well we knew coming into this one the tight end was a big part of this offense and you've seen it early in this game they've moved him around they've thrown it to him in a lot of different ways defense is going to have to make some adjustments trying to stop this guy going to work on second down in the red zone is still some ground to cover to pick up that first down makes the catch and he will score touchdown South Alabama man nice job getting the passing game going this is big man going to the half and listen I know you're trailing but build some momentum maybe this second half we can keep airing the football out cutting into this deficit and who knows what the heck will happen [Music] now they'll line up for what they hope is automatic and with the extra point they're down 3114 so that scoring Drive took only six plays and they finish it off by connecting from 10 yards out so they got the touchdown and as they kickoff really important for the defense to shut them down here and he takes this from inside the five not a lot of space to be found good Hustle by the coverage team and they stop him at the 21 North Texas sends the offense back onto the field they've got time they've got the lead and David is sort of like a doctor first Do no harm Do no harm but also momentum is hard to create and sometimes hard to stop you have it so Jesse don't do anything stupid to create some momentum for the other side I think a lot of this comes down to your quarterback and whether or not he's making good decisions in this game if yes be aggressive if not let's just take the lead into halftime and get ready for the second half a strike downfield can anyone catch him touchdown mean green and once he got loose it was all over how about the day for this young fell three receiving touchdowns hey defense that guy's good we might want to do something about it let's send two at him let's send three at him we can't let this guy continue to beat us time and time again they'll try to add another to their lead and the extra point will tack another one onto this lead this offense Prides itself on going after you and they did with that long touchdown pass to finish off a two-play drive the kickoff team out there getting [Music] set here he comes from inside his own five didn't find any crease in that kickoff coverage and he'll be stopped at the 17 the Jaguars offense ready to go back to work now they're backed up here Jesse wonder how aggressive they're willing to be I think it's going to come down to how much confidence they have in this quarterback and his decision making because you cannot throw an interception at this part of the field with this little time play and I think that's conversations you've had with a young fellow on the sidelines being like what are you comfortable with right here that we can run maybe stay aggressive but make sure I don't make that mistake grabbed in the middle it's Ivory and oh he was Off to the Races after the catch and they finally drag him down a timeout is called as this offense tries to find a way to get more points on the board before the half to the air on first down quick completion on the out route they make the stop but there is a flag on the field we'll see what that's all about [Music] defense and the defender just way too handsy on that last play you could see all the contact as the ball was in the air you simply can't do it and the referee's caught it Lopez to pass he's taking the shot and he'll make the catch at the 15 we've got a timeout in the waning seconds of the half maybe a chance to get off a couple more plays running out of time here in the first half they're going to have to be efficient to put some points on the board before the break he'll set up to throw didn't have much of a choice there but to get rid of it got got to give the defense a lot of credit man cuz they've come into this hostile environment and they've quieted the crowd down with some of the plays they're making they've got a nice lead right here and they're making it hard for this quarterback to go to work on second down they'll try the field goal to get the points before halftime he'll boot it from the left side and from this distance that angle ought to be fairly easy and the kicker delivers the three to salvage that drive I know they're trailing going into the locker room here at halftime but kicking that field go gives them a little bit of a jolt a little bit of a boost of momentum that they can carry with them into the second half and there's a lot of football left to go here I can't wait to see what [Music] [Music] happens that late in the half field goal always gives you a little boost going to the locker room and they'll need to finish off these final few seconds and not allow them to answer from inside his own 10 he'll try to help out their field position we played two quarters here time to go to Kevin Connors in our halftime update guys it is tough to beat the pageantry and quality of play so far today in Mobile the passing game for both sides has been outstanding on point unrelenting they've excelled in the short game the intermediate game and especially on the Deep ball all in all a thrilling display of offensive Firepower and these defenses have a lot to discuss here at halftime and with that let's head back inside Hancock Whitney Stadium the Jaguars will kick it off to start the second half he'll start the return inside is five nice job executing all of the assignments as they put a stop to that return at the 22 North Texas takes possession the mean green offense will return to the field keeping it on the ground to open the second half just enough there to get it to the 25 a pick up of two after picking up a couple at second and eight moving the running back trying to get the D to tip its hand unloads to the wide out Toof spot in the middle and he's down at the 41 that's a first down wow the quarterback knew he had to get that one to his receiver quickly on the end route did you see the velocity on that throw the offense lines up at the 41 with a first and 10 used the play fake now to throw deep shot for the end zone and swatted down by the defense to stop the scoring opportunity sometimes as a quarterback when you're feeling the Rhythm and you're feeling yourself you just want to keep taking shots right this guy's already thrown three touchdown passes he saw a look he liked decided to Let Her Fly haven't seen a lot of ball fall in complete especially deep down the field that one did but I'd expect this guy to keep letting it go they'll go back to the air on second down caught in the back field it's Evans he's brought down quickly minimal gain there still a bit short of the first down listen running backs are not just running backs anymore you're going to be a wide receiver in today's football and a great job sneaking out of the back field getting him the football letting them get some positive yards passing game very effective on second down what about here on third moving the running back forcing the defense to adjust it's complete and the defense able to drag him down but not before they'll recycle that down marker defense is about learning the plays third down what do they like to do how do they do it so far the offense having a little bit of success but the defense now you got to figure out what they're doing North Texas really has it going on offense the give from the gun he's dropped behind the line of scrimmage that'll be a loss of three yeah and listen the offense has had their way and they've had so much success and so much production but listen at least the defense got a rep you know maybe this gets you some a spark maybe this get you some energy maybe we'll see a little bit more light from this defense yeah they may not win the game but I think this defensive coaching staff at this point based on how this game has gone they're just trying to find things to build off of maybe that's something they can point to as they get ready for their next opponent of think they did right things that they got to do more consistently moving for trying to wear down this defense a seventh play of the drive it's third and one to the ground to try to move the chains and boy is he close to that first down maybe just a couple of inches short and that's a nice stop by this defense nice job stopping the Run setting up for four and inches listen this is a no-brainer if I can't get inches I don't deserve to win I I'm coming downhill I'm playing physical I'm picking my play with it's quarterback sneak fullback dive whatever it is that we do great and I'm going to get my inches he won't be able to return this one as it goes out of bounds South Alabama has it back the Jaguar offense going to work and to settle for the Chip Shot field goal last time Jesse they had love for this one to pay off bigger yeah it just comes down to execution too did a nice job out in the field stalled a little bit once they got down to the goal line so they just need to be a little bit more crisp here did yeah and listen I I think the first part was the most important part you got to put the drive together first to get down there now when we get down there focus on execution and getting six points after the quarterback and receiver failed to hook up they'll try it again on second down Lopez wants to Fire and he will be sacked at the 6yd line I think this quarterback now at this point is looking over to the sideline saying hey can we just not throw it anymore I mean my guys they can't block for me I've got no chance back here we need to just run the ball from this point out guys this offense is already reeling down multiple possessions really need to cash in on this drive on Third and long a check down would be the Last Resort it's caught downfield and he almost ran away from everybody on that one a huge pick up on that play and they just want to give this guy a chance to make a play on third down and more times than not he is going to deliver he's so good so efficient such a good route Runner got the speed got the complete game so you definitely want to highlight him and especially on those Downs that matter the most if something's not open Quick underneath find him he'll make those contested catches the RPO fire complete to the left he gets those chains moving gets it out to the 42 yd line well offensively they knew they were going to have some matchups they could take advantage of in this one and all of a sudden this quarterback has now over 300 yards passing in the game defensively David he has got them on their heels and he's been showing you a little bit of everything he can throw it all over the field to all different receivers to his tight ends to his running backs really has the ability to spread it around and now over 300 yds still still some time left and he can put up even bigger numbers and heck go chase some awards man get some postseason Awards get an allamerican just put up a day great play by the cornerback he was just way too physical at the point of attack he beat his man trying to block him and he tackled that receiver on the screen the Jaguars come to the line in the hurry up from the gun the running back tries to hit the hole he's dropped behind the line of scrimmage that'll be a loss of three offensively you want to run that counter right to try to take advantage of hyperactive defenses but just poor execution not a good job of understanding where I need to go when I bounce that thing backside and it bounced outside you want to take that thing inside so the offense needs to operate a little bit better and maybe not run as much counter because the defense got in there pretty quick they've got the screen set up defense was not fooled by that screen to the back and they'll stop him short of the marker it'll be fourth down down man this defense is so athletic in their front seven they're able to fight off the blocks on that third down screen play make the tackle Now setting up fourth down and the Jaguars will line up to punt it away he'll try to really get into this one a fairly short distance here toward the sidelines not his best work North Texas sends the offense back onto the field David the punter got some work last time they'd like to keep him on the sidelines in this Drive yeah it's not something you want to say very often you don't want the putter out there this offense need to get back lathered up and get a little bit more a r best way to do that identify where your best players are and just get them the football give these guys some touches to Kickstart this offense solid pickup of four on first down it's second and six to throw it's Morris receiver looks it in it's complete five finally run out of bounds but he has this offense rolling with a first down nice job by the receiver there running the drag route against Zone coverage finding the soft spot making it easy on his quarterback to get the completion he turns it up field and he moves the sticks they'll snap it from the 36 they've got a first down the give to the back you'll take four yards on first down every time second and six it's the m of this offense and they really put a lot on the offensive line to go out and really try and establish their dominance and their assertiveness and they've done a good job of that early in this game running the football after the productive first down play it's second and six he's looking to throw fires to the wide out got his man he will step out of bounds but not before the big pickup and a first down for this offense and a really good job focusing on the catch a lot of people get lost on their feet and trying to stay in bounds but did a good job catching the football first and then getting that one foot they needed in bounds North Texas really has it going on offense wants to throw on first down got his man in the middle and there might have been trouble if they hadn't gotten to him immediately completion a little short of the sticks it's second down going to run it it's Evans that's what you expect from a senior don't give them any extra yards great tackle [Music] there and now on on third down after that last [Music] run back to throw it's Morris looking to buy time he's going to run it picks up the first down and gets down to avoid contact this quarterback doing a lot of good decision making on that last play first off nice job extending but then understanding what the coverage was understanding nobody's open and then going hey look I can go get this myself and finally not only am I going to get this first down I'm going to take care of myself too I'm going to slide I practice this all week little baseball slide action we got a fresh set of downs and he's brought down after a nice game well it just seems like everything is working for the offense on this drive another nice game this time on the ground North Texas has it going to work with another first down they're looking to pass from the Red Zone throws to the back on target The Tackle is made but he's got it first and goal from the six this offense is just so dynamic because they've got Playmakers at all the skill positions right we just saw a big play in the running game now we see one in the passing game there's not one dude that you can key on here if you're on defense to try and slow them down North Texas will come to the line with a first and goal he's looking to throw got it he's all the way down to the 2yd line just spectacular execution there and I love when my quarterback sees Zone and knows exactly where to go with the football sees the wide receiver running the drag route knows when to throw and pulls the trigger for the easy completion they've moved it forward to the two now it's second and goal the offense showing motion from the tight end trying to get a read on the D he'll keep it himself well one of the reasons this offense likes the option game with the quarterback is to use his speed and try to attack the perimeter of the field the defense though not having any of it you saw the contain on the play forcing him back in the middle of the field and they're able to grow him for a huge loss they've gotten pushed back but it's still third and goal to the air it's Morris now improvising they won't let him in had a nose for that end zone but he will be stopped short you know these goal line situations the field starts to shrink it's easier to key in on these guys that you know can fly at the quarterback spot defense was locked in nice job on the third and goal and for the second time tonight they'll Trot out the field goal kicker right down the boulevard it's good and now the lead is even bigger 1 South Alama 7 [Music] they keep pushing that lead out and the kickoff team's getting some work on the run from inside his own five he was hoping for something a little more Dynamic but they get him on the ground at the 20 guys we'll have another look at this South Alabama offense they'll throw it on first down here he goes breaking the pocket he'll pull it down and run and he has a solid gain on the play before sliding you see a lot of quarterbacks get in trouble when they start forcing things he did a really good job he wanted to throw the football you could tell drops back nothing open it's okay I'm just going to take off get what I can get and here comes the offense on second down motion by the back forces the defense to adjust Lopez to pass finds the tight end the Jaguars have enough for the first down no reason to panic when you see those extra bodies coming just find the big tight head well and the great ones do that I think the great ones are okay you want to Blitz I know my answers I'm all right I'll stay patient find the matchup this time it was the tight end finds the tight end throws a strike gets the first down coming out on first down with the play fake he's got an open man found a bunch of room and got it to the 44 yd line and Jesse he just keeps piling up numbers over 350 yards for the game and I feel like from the get-go race this guy's just been in a great Rhythm all game long he just seems like he's dialed in and man he's been accurate throwing the rock the give to the running back from the shotgun he's dropped behind the line of scrimmage that'll be a loss of three well the linebacker showing you read and react he knew exactly where that running play was going and he beat the football to the line of SC image and force the tfl last play was a near disaster now dealing with second and 13 trying play action he's going to let one fly down the middle slicing and dicing through this defense and they've got it down to the 23 and your number one goal on your lit is to get to the quarterback make him feel uncomfortable and they didn't do it they didn't get home quarterback had a little bit too much time you could tell felt too comfortable didn't even get a hit on him the Jaguars will line it up on First and 10 used the play fake now to throw getting some heat Rush coming in hot and they got him at the 29 the defense is just killing it success after success after success if I'm the offense I got to change something up or my quarterback's going to be forced to change because he's going to be in the injury t they'll try to keep that sack from Wrecking this drive here on second and 15 they'll Run play action fires to the big fella they make the stop trying to pick up just a little bit at a time to get to that first down marker and that's why play action is going to be big in this game you saw how it just freezed the second L of that defense just for a second and allowed the tight end to work himself vertically down the field but how about this guy after the catch right so hard to bring down what a weapon Lopez wants to fire quickly complete and sure tackling there to keep him from getting to the first down marker oh he just needed to stretch the ball out a few inches more and he would have picked up the first down it was a great individual effort there on third down getting back a bunch of yards and now they're in a position to go for it here on Fourth now on fourth down here comes the field goal team split the upright it's good [Music] after putting three on the board the kickoff unit ready to go on the move from inside is five didn't find any crease in that kickoff coverage and he'll be stopped at the 17 first snap of this drive will come from their own 17 to the ground with the back they'll wrestle him down just short of the first down I don't even think they're going to bring out the change to measure this one and talk about spreading the ball around everyone getting a chance to show off the hands based on the number of targets we've [Music] seen one more period to go and we'll see just how much fight they've got left in them now on second down from the gun the running back looking for room that'll move the chains it'll be a first down for North Texas all right nothing flashy there he just did what it took to get the first down it's first and 10 from the 31 from the shotgun the inside game finds enough room to get three out to the 34 this is so nice to know you can start off on first down with positive plays positive yards hand the football off set up a good second down after the three- yd pickup they come to the line Second and seven from the gun leaves it on the inside with the back a strong tackle and wrap up from from the [Music] [Music] junior how bold will they be on third down after that last run wide out in motion wants to throw it's Morris fires to the middle couldn't quite haul it in they almost had their first pick here late in the game I mean sometimes you overthink it sometimes running the football on Third and short with the lead is not the worst thing in the world keep that clock ticking but now decided to go for it setting up a fourth down and this looks like a situation where you should putt the football fourth down and the punt team sends it the other way he'll call for the fair catch here the Jaguars offense ready to go back to work trying to start the drive with a pass he's got his man and the defense had that one well covered just a short game there and defensively this is exactly what you want right you got the big lead so you can play Big Zone coverages just keep the ball in front of you keep your eye on the quarterback rally to the football gang tackle and you're going to win this game got some of the work done on first now let's see what they have on second down that friends is a busted play incomplete it's a nice adjustment by the defense here with a big lead in the game you're putting extra DBS on the field knowing the offense has to throw to get back in this one in the fourth quarter so your best cover guys on the field and they force an incompletion on the last one couldn't find his man last time and that leaves him with a third and six from the gun wants to pass he'll off one deep down the left side and try you put points on the board on third down now they're staring at Fourth Down the offense has got to find something here in the fourth quarter you can tell pressing a little bit they need that big play they want that big play to try to make this game a better ball game took the shot unsuccessful but I wouldn't be surprised if they take some more of those on Fourth Down going to the air he'll try to do it himself he will not get it a fourth down down stop for this defense as they try to assault this one away off play action on first down not the type of accuracy you typically see from this senior quarterback I'm a little bit surprised they're still throwing the football here this late in the game with this kind of lead they're on first down taking a shot Falls incomplete but obviously they're still seeing matchups that they want to take advantage of in the back end of this defense so they're letting it fly to the air it's Morris and he really needed to hold on to that one but it was not loose and third down is coming and as a quarterback you've got to be able to take advantage of the situation you were given the ball in tremendous field position you've thrown two straight incompletions you can't squander this opportunity you need a big play here and guys they really need to take advantage of this field position on Third and long from the gun wants to pass throws to the wide out complete downfield field the stop is made but this offense is threatening first and goal from the nine well this guy's been a go-to guy for this offense all game long we've seen that and here on a critical third down late in the game with the lead guess who shows up with another big one that guy North Texas will come to the line with a first and goal looking to throw got it touchdown North Texas and a stomping has commenced and this offense continuing to put up points this game's Out Of Reach you know you're going to win but still throwing the football still finding that connection I imagine there'll be some salty handshakes at the end of this game lining up to add another exra and with the extra point they pushed the lead out a little further quick work on that scoring drive just four plays and they Capa things off with a 9yd touchdown pass kickoff team is on the field they'll try to drive this one deep from inside the 10 yd line he'll bring it back really disciplined job by the coverage unit to get down there and make the stop at the 19 South Alabama has it back the Jaguar offense going to work fires into traffic intercepted and he's going to take it all the way touchdown mean green dude this you didn't think it could any worse right you thought this game game's over as it is anyways offense still throwing the football still trying to make plays and the defense just continues to pour it on gets the pick makes its way all the way to the end zone lining up to attack one more onto that lead the kick is up and good and put one more on the lead they'll kick it off and send that defense right back out there to try to score again after the pick six from inside his own 10 let's see what he gets not a lot of space to be found good Hustle by the coverage team and they stop him at the 21 guys guys we'll have another look at this South Alabama offense going up top on first down short throw to the sideline picks up just a little awesome body control and great job too knowing where he is on the field to make sure he got his feet down in Bounds at this point this guy's been open all over the field and if I'm the QB man I keep throwing him the ball now on second down Lope has to pass got out of trouble and throws and the pass is incomplete Jarred Loose by the hit and I've been there fellas this is no fun if you're a quarterback all game long you've got guys in your lap you've got guys chasing you all the way across the field you just never feel like you can get in the Rhythm because this pass rush is in your face all day on third down going up top makes a down the middle and he's going to be just short of the first down it's going to bring up a decision for this coach down in the fourth quarter it's too late for empty possessions they'll go for it on fourth down they'll try to pick up the first will not get there a fourth down stop couldn't order better field position for this offense and he got a hand in there knocks it away incomplete well it's a nice job by the quarterback getting the ball out of his hands quickly on that RPO he saw something he liked just not on the same page with his receiver last play didn't go as planned now second and 10 from the 26 they'll throw again after the incompletion this time he's got it he gets it all the way down to the 5 yd line a terrific catch and run before he stopped and with that pass right there dude he goes over 350 on the day nice performance this QB's been dialed in [Music] North Texas will come to the line with a first and goal and he'll get this one back to the line of scrimmage but no farther than that can the D deny them on second and goal fast motion from the offense with Jet Sweep pass he had all kinds of company as soon as he got it he had to fight his way back just to get to the line of scrimmage really good job by the defense seeing it and going and getting it nice job understanding the touch pass it can happen those guys go Motion man I got to understand safety's got to see that start flying down getting ready to play that nice job by the defense being ready for that play they'll look at throw on Third and goal touchdown North Texas and the punishment has been extended and this always is the debate of where you fall it's your job to stop me or I should get conserved because this offense obviously has had themselves a day and apparently their day is not over they're going to continue to keep scoring and the defense better do something about it they'll try to add another to their lead and the extra point will tack another one onto this lead a very efficient five play scoring drive and they punctuated it with the 5yd touchdown run the kickoff team on the field as they'll send this one away he'll bring it back from inside is five really disciplined job by the coverage unit to get down there and make the stop at the 19 the Jaguars offense ready to go back to work Lopez wants to fire he finds his man they stop him almost immediately short gain there and still a little ground cover to pick up the first you complete some of these hitch throws early you're setting up the hitch and go later on you can pump fake that and then the receiver can pette right up the sideline that might be a home run play for the offense that completion leaves us with second and medium he's looking to throw flips it out in the flat and the defense holds firm no pickup at all on that play this offense is going to try and stretch the field vertically and horizontally they did there throwing it to their running back but the defense they were in perfect position to make that play for no game a third down try for the offense from the gun wants to pass they get up rush and it pays off the sack at the 20 well the defense is not taking their foot off the gas they've got a huge lead we're early in the fourth quarter and still they're getting pressure on this quarterback registering a sack and the Jaguars will send out the punt unit they may have to pay him overtime he's punting for the fifth time today he'll get away another punt he's been really active today and no doubt he's going to earn his varsity letter North Texas takes possession the mean green offense will return turned to the field this offense has really been clicking in the game so far Jesse nope h on the ground life ball and he coughed it up and good thing he got it back himself what a lucky and wait just a second the officials going to take a second look at this one so the officials take a closer look and the replay Booth will overturn the call hand off from the shotgun and he's almost to that first down Parker there saying he's a little bit short they might want to bring out the sticks and measure but it looks as if he'll be just short of the first down third and short coming here right from the Midfield [Music] strike they'll try to pick it up on the ground they convert on third down as he gets it to the 46 yd line third inches everybody knows what's coming but it's so Dam hang hard to stop and you better get penetration with that defensive line that didn't do a good enough job running back Falls forward and does his job North Texas has it going to work with another first down using his legs it's Evans and he'll step across the sidelines after making a good gain on that one yeah and that's exactly what you want to do late in the ball game with the lead establish the Run EST was the physicality and you know what helps that clock up there it continues to tick so let's see if they choose to keep the ball in the ground and stay conservative and run that clock trying to impose their will with the Run tackle is made but not until he gets the first down this guy's been running hard all game long in the fourth quarter now with that last run he's now at 99 yds rushing one more carry away from potentially reaching that 100 100 yard Milestone that all running backs covet North Texas really has it going on offense hand off from the gun not a whole lot of room as he gets a couple inside the 30 to the 29 and the defense doing a great job committing to the run when you commit to the run like this obviously you can give up some plays in the passing game but you got to stop the run first picked up two yards on that last one they need eight on second down when they've got him looking run now to pass going to try to get it himself Nifty little Scamper on this one enough for the first down and he slides in safely defense is all about creating negative plays and he does a really good job at the quarterback spot of not taking sacks like that's a great job he wants to throw the football the clock goes off he takes off and gets a positive game they have just bloodied their nose on this drive all on on the ground it's first and 10 he's dropped behind the line of scrimmage that'll be a loss of three nice job by this defense listen you got to understand they're going to run the football they're going to try to milk the clock Jesse they got the huge lead haven't been a lot of good plays for this defense in this game so far so can they build on that one can they create some turnovers here in the second half to get back in this game dropping back it's Morris got his man he's brought down quickly minimal gain there still a bit short of the first down when a defense is in own coverage Jesse they want to react how do you react to a hoer coming out like that one not much you can do because this guy's got a cannon you saw all the eyeballs on defense on that play they were waiting and anticipating that throw but when you've got an arm like that it's going to be tough to stop that cow Gets behind those pads picks up four on the plate but it's still a fourth down and three and this field goal team has been busy this kicker comes out for the third time tonight absolutely perfect and they just tack on a little more to this gargantuan lead they're really starting to extend that lead as they get ready to kick it away again and he takes this from inside the five really disciplined job by the coverage unit to get down there and make the stop at the 19 South Alabama has it back the Jaguar offense going to work just a short pass to the tight end and that was some kind of collision between a couple of big bodies there and he stopped from getting the first down right on target with that last pass now it's second and medium Lopez to pass unloads to the wide out he's got it and the explosiveness the big Gainer gets it to the 49 yd line and this offense has got to kick it in high gear now making a big play that is great but we got to go up Tempo we got to go fast we're trailing big in this ball game we got to put a lot of Drives together and maybe even get lucky with an onside kick it'll be a first down from the 49 yd line he's going to pass dumps it off in the plats stopped after making the catch I want to get my running backs the ball in space as much as possible sometimes it doesn't work in the running game but I can throw it to him I can try to create some space out wide dump him the football let him make some catches and see if I can't get some big plays out of it second down here and maybe they've got time to get one more snap off before the two-minute warning we hit the two-minute warning and this offense is desperate to make something happen and do it in a hurry they'll line up for a second down play he's looking to throw it's complete good job running that route to get past the sticks because he got nothing after the catch this guy's having a a game that feels like half a season for some he's over 450 yards and he is so dialed in with his offensive coordinator and play caller with what they want to do and how they want to attack this defense it seems like every single snap he's read the coverage he knows exactly where to go with the ball hit hard just as he released it on first down and just couldn't get it to the receiver they've already got a bunch of sacks on them today and another quarterback pressure this offense has to try got to find a way to get the ball out a little bit quicker to protect their quarterback a little bit more whether it's screens whether it's draws whether it's rle in your quarterback something has to change for this offense to protect the quarterback a little bit better he's close to the first down but they're going to Mark him just a little short and listen the defense playing really conservative right you got the lead but here's what I'm trying to do I'm trying to get sacks I got to get to the quarterback like I got to make sure I'm getting him knocking him off the spot patting my stats by the way got a lot of sacks late in games and we had a big Le but that's okay that's what you're supposed to do keep competing defense the aerial assault continues got his man quickly really nice job there by both guys the throw and the catch to work that defense and get the first down really nice job there by the quarterback understanding that it's Zone coverage on third down you're going to have to find someone working into a soft spot get the ball out of your hands quickly make an accurate throw and pick up the first well done Lopez wants to fire they're trying to get to him they get enough rush and it pays off the sack of the 20 the defense puts the exclamation point on the day they have had a wonderful day man doing everything great just you could tell they were dialed into what was going on and now just throw another sack in the equation hitting the quarterback being disrupted they've been all over the field they've got some serious work to do to keep that last one from messing up this drive second and 19 bu's on the Move he's got it and they make the Stop and this offense has it inside the five and they are threatening and it's always interesting when you get into this garbage time and if it really matters or if it doesn't and depending on who you talk to it matters but that's a big passing play they they just needed a lot more of those in this football game so they could score some point points cuz this offense it was a disappointing day using his legs to buy some time and he crosses the goal line and gets the touchdown but way too little way too late but they still do count it for six good for them they put together a drive they they got a touchdown it's been a bad day I mean this is a day they're going to want to forget they're getting destroyed but at least you get some positive vibes maybe maybe finish this game on a little bit behind note a little [Music] bit lining up for the pat hit that one with some aggression for the point after almost ready to kick it away after scoring the [Music] touchdown he'll bring it out from inside his own 10 nice job executing all of the assignments as they put a stop to that return at the 22 and here we go final play of the game right here the quarterback takes a snap and takes a knee [Music] now [Music]
