a little different knowing it's the last ride so yeah I'm I'm definitely really excited Jaylen Lucas seems to be okay at playing football yes sir explosive explosive guy you know he's a human joystick for real so yall watch out man y watch out for Jake anything that he does that's going to help open things up you think for you or kaziah or the other guys I mean he just adds another skill set to the offense I mean you know he's a guy that is very dangerous in space he can run through the tackles and he can you know catch kicks and catch the ball in general good so yeah yeah he's definitely a weapon running back in I mean I I love how versatile we are you know what I'm saying we got the big guys we got the the scat backs you know we we pretty much have everything we need to be a successful room so I'm I'm excited about what we're about to put on this play about dancing definitely a weapon you know what I'm saying he's a young guy coming along really well you know he's learning soaking everything up but yeah he's one of those take the top off guys you know what I'm saying home run threat for sure you know I know coach yak always talks about we're on fries when it comes to you guys in the running back room and everyone's going to get their at bats but does it feel like this is your kind of time maybe yes sir no most definitely you know being the vet in the room you know I got to lead these guys the right way and the way that we're supposed to be you know what I'm saying get us in the right direction and keep pushing everybody I mean that's that's that's my goal for sure so I feel like I'm in that role you know what I mean and everybody's definitely going to be incorporated but I'm definitely going to push them boys man yes sir what are some things that you focused on for yourself training wise work-wise this this offseason I mean I'm trying to be able to be as smart as possible you know I know the whole offense now now I'm trying to learn defensive looks and you know what I'm saying obviously pass blocking running through the tackles everything I'm trying to clean all that up you know what I mean so I I really would say My overall just being smarter honestly the knowledge how do you go about learning different defensive looks that as film study is there more to what does that look like yeah most definitely film study and you know I got we got some great defensive guys that really can break it down to me you know what I mean so that's that's I feel like that's the biggest thing in that has been the biggest help for me who are some guys who've helped you out a little we got we got Edwin we got we got a whole we got a I really be talking to all them guys you know even if I do a certain rep I'll go over there and be like okay what you see you know the linebackers DJ Lundy yeah we we we definitely talk a lot it seems like you you kept on most of the weight you added before spring how how has that changed you how's the added weight kind of transformed you I mean it's always good to be bigger you know what I mean messing with these big guys so yeah I mean I feel great you know I'm excited I'm excited to put this on display for you guys to see so I'm excited about it man that's all I really could say what did it mean to you to be the one that was picked to break the Rock at the end of the summer program oh that I'm very honor that I'm grateful for that situation you know what I'm saying it's big to me know it's my last time and they see all the work that I've been putting in and keeping my head down and going so I'm grateful for it and I I I forever appreciate you guys that extra MK do you feel like that might be able to help a good bit with an extended workload potentially yes sir most definitely you know I mean we're all going to have those situations where we're going to be in the game Whoever has the hot hands probably going to touch the ball more exactly so you know it's it's definitely going to play a role you know what I mean it's going to make me feel run more confident and things like that but I definitely feel like we still going to have that you know Howa State you know how we roll it back so yeah we going we going to be good though you guys lost a lot of Talent last year you're brought a lot of new guys U they've played a lot of football is there still that sort of sense of confidence in the locker room that you might have felt last year right now oh yeah most definitely I feel like the biggest thing is this team is the the family bond we're very close-knit team and it happened in a very short period of time like we're just around each other a lot you know we we really click very well and I feel like that's that's been the biggest thing that I've been excited about cuz you know when when you play for somebody that you love you just play harder so I feel like that's going to give us that extra Edge is royell pretty vocal oh yeah most definitely yeah yeah Roy Dell he's probably more vocal than me honestly you know what I'm saying he's one of them guys that's definitely going to touch you talk to you you know what I mean let you know if you're doing something wrong and I I love that about him you know he's making me grow in that area as well given that he only been here for you know several months like for him to be that confident I guess what does that say about about him as a person I mean you know he's he's a confident guy you know what I'm saying he's ready to go ready to roll and he's ready to work he knows how to work and how to go about it so I definitely appreciate about him and you know what I'm saying learning and growing growing with them there's unlimited coachings coaching staffs now as does Yak have somebody that's helping you guys out now in the running back room that might not have been around few years ago or is same it's pretty much been the same guys we got uh Alex Alex assom back there so he he's a big help too you know what I'm saying like definitely with the backs you know we have any questions or anything like him and Yak are on the same page so he definitely could give us any type of knowledge that we need and answer any questions good thanks man I appreciate y'all for you how different is this year versus last year when been acclimated to a new program English just just there just more confident and you know knowing not really being hesitant on the field you know understanding what's what's next and just trying to help the younger guys and everybody else is around me because I already like understand what we what the standard is when you reflected on what you did last season what is that you want to improve upon and how have you gone about doing that during the offseason uh just taking extra time taking extra time of you know focusing on the technique fundamentals that I you know I want to focus on and having the other people around me that I know should do as as well as well so just overall just having you know taking the extra time and focusing on that when I can what's it like when you look around and you see AAR on one side Shah's behind you just how is this secondary going to be just confident in them you know just confident everybody around me you know and as we go during fall cam you know the confidence just going to keep on building so just having them around me you know having the support and we know we going to push each other hard so when it come to that it's going to be we got a great group even the young guys you know we we depend on them we know they can do big things for when you mentioned confidence for yourself with teammates is that just a matter of like time and building trust is you know each and every day do you got to build trust each and every day on the field off the field so just overall you just got to each rep you know just helps each other and help you understand what you know the best is what our best is and how we can our potential of being you know great you mention being able to trust the young guys has there been anyone in specific that you've really seen so far that has kind of turned your head honestly all of them been doing really good like we've been we've been on them about the defense and trying to help them understand you know what where your help at and stuff like that so but I feel like every single one of them are actually getting a good understanding of it so we I'm excited for all of them there a guy who understands the out to position what is it about a that impresses you a he he always want to learn he always looking to learn something just trying to be better you know taking the extra time to work on things that he feel like he need to be be be better at so just taking the extra time and working on and being the best version of himself for real so he just always have that mindset looking back at last season what was May like the biggest you feel you had to to uh I just feel like uh just having to understand you know the defense and trying to not be hesitant you know what I'm saying play faster and I feel like this year I can actually have the ability to do that was defense super different than what you were doing for this place it was a bit different yes so I'm just you know just learning and understanding and you know of course that's going to help me grow when riew a game film of yourself last year with s moments that you're like man I was hesitant in that moment and just how do you go about you know doing that again yeah yeah it was a couple times you know I could tell that I was you know being like questioning if I should you know do this or do that and now just having a better understanding of the defense and the guys around me that I have the confidence I don't get I can just play fast and not you know overthink about things [Music] oh
