right through the final pick Tatum Bethune right through the top pick Ricky peera and I'll give you my my just kind of honest assessment of what I think we're looking at with each guy um just all my all my my kind of my my my my uh you know thumbnail sketch of each each rookie thus far all right let's start with the undrafted class and we'll Terique Owens start with Terell Owen's son Tariq Owens I'm truly amazed that Tariq Owens looks as polished as he does I mean this guy did not play any football until he was really a senior in senior in high school he went out as a sophomore but he told us during the pro uh local pro day that he attended that he really didn't really didn't try to be a football player or get any real playing time till he was a senior in high school and then he wound up playing at a junior college and then playing in Missouri um and you know and now he's in the Niners Camp um and he's super raw but he is the son of Terell Owens and you know call it whatever you want to call it but he inherited tremendous physical genes um from from Terell I mean Terell is just one of the greatest greatest specimens physical specimens that anybody's ever seen and his son is not doesn't have the same height and is not quite that explosive but he is a professional caliber athlete and he he actually has shown some good things in this Camp so far and he really doesn't look that far away from contributing so um I'm really eager to see what Tariq does in the preseason I mean there's a chance that Tariq Owens despite how raw he is makes some plays in the preseason um and but he's I gotta think that he's you know he's not GNA make the roster but he could be targeted for the practice squad he's about 61 but he's got good physicality really good um quickness big hands explosive Runner um you know he looks the part he doesn't have big time vertical speed and he doesn't really have Nuance to his route running um he doesn't get in and out of break smoothly you know he he he has all kinds of false steps uh throughout but um and he's gonna have almost an impossible time right now getting open against NFL corners but as far as a developmental player two years from now could be really something um don't forget about Tariq Owens all right let's move on to Cody Sher Cody shraer Cody Schrader you can tell is a favorite of juice a favorite of CMC um you know the players really understand that Cody shraer is a ball player this guy was the first team all running back at Missouri the SEC where there's all kinds of I mean Alabama's Got Deep crer Runners Georgia's got a deep Cropper Runners Tennessee's got a deep Cropper Runners A&M has good Runners every all these schools all have good talented athletes it's an incredible conference with amazing depth and yet Cody shraer who went to Truman State and then walked on at Missouri uh was your first team all SEC running back and you can see in this Camp why um the Niners like him you know he's quick to the hole he's knows what he's doing he he's you know re got great football IQ uh he's 59 about 215 pounds he can break tackles you know in a lot of ways he's got a very similar build to Christian mcaffrey I think Cody shrader's got a great chance to make this team as an undrafted free agent and you know what of all the you know the more I watch this kickoff for return play the more I think that Cody Shader could be the gift from God um the football Gods may have blessed the 49ers by giving them the perfect Return Man for the new rules in Cody shraer why do I say that well you know it's it's like kind of like a squib kick now they're going to try to make you field the ball off the surface so it's got to typically be a running back or somebody built low to the ground he is built low to the ground as a running back it's got to be somebody who's got good hands he's a receiver with good hands um it's got to be somebody I think with a little bit of heft because you know you're you're going to take two or three steps and then there's going to be contact um and I just think that in a lot of ways he could be ideally suited physically to be a really good Return Man in the new under these new rules so look for that in the preseason um un drafted free agent number three Mason Mason Pline Pine you know you know I know you guys are gonna get tired of hearing me tout these nobody rookies but Mason Pine is really good um you know I would say minimum he makes the practice squad I think it's very very likely he makes the active roster 68 great hands moves well um needs work as an inline blocker but you know 10 and a half inch hands mechanical engineering major super smart all kinds of athleticism former basketball player um he looks great he doesn't look good he looks great he's their biggest tight end and yet he's a receiver um he plucks the ball naturally with his hands I he just looks really good Mason Pine looks really good if you said to me right now what do I think's gonna happen I think he's gonna make the team I think he's gonna make the team um I expect him to have a good preseason he looks good Drake Nugent uh Drake nent another undrafted free agent the center out of Stanford out of Mi Stanford you know out of Michigan by way of Stanford um small guy you know 61 definitely an inch or two shorter than your than you want um but man he's fiery he plays with leverage he's smart he's experienced um he's a guy who's you know was the was the was the center on maybe the best offensive line in college football they had a dominant Run game nent did it in the Big 10 he did it in the Pack 12 um there's a lot to like there now he's a little short and he may get over overwhelmed by some of the the big time bodies that he's going to face on the other side of the line of scrimmage but really good college player with good experience good toughness and good smarts and I'll take my chances there I really like his potential I'm eager to see what he's got in the preseason um another undrafted free Tanner Mordecai agent Tanner morai you know I I I won't pretend that um I'm not I won't pretend you know that I'm not a super fan of morai I 446 speed um his college coach told Brian greasy that he more than any other player that was coming out of Wisconsin this last year in the draft was the guy he would have beat pound the table for you know 446 speed he's a leader he's experienced he put up two really big offensive years in Sunny dyes' SMU offense then transferred to the Big 10 um final college game threw for 378 yards three touchdowns and no picks against LSU in the relia quest bowl like five weeks after he broke his throwing hand there's a lot to like uh with Tanner morai and so far we've only seen glimpses but he looks really good I think there's if he gets a shot in the preseason don't be shocked if Tanner morai outplays um Josh dos don't be surprised if Tanner morai outplays um Brandon Allen you know would not surprise me in the slightest if that actually happened um another another guy Jaylen Mahoney that I want to talk about is Jaylen Mahoney uh Mahoney you know is a is a a safety who looks really athletic um haven't seen him tons but he's he moves around like a really good athlete so I'm I'm really I'm really eager to see what he looks like uh when the season gets rolling if he can make the team Evan Evan Anderson Anderson the other undrafted free agent to me looks like a ton I mean this guy's 34350 pounds but his movement ability and strength at that size is amazing so I love what I see with Evan Anderson all right let's get into the draft picks Tatum Bethune Tatum Bethune really the last three or four days Bethune has made a number of plays against the run I'm really eager to see what he looks like in the preseason against live bullets because he looks like a very good run Defender uh Jarrett Jarrett Kingston Kingston they're playing him at offensive tackle he had a brawl the other day with t y McGill Kingston is a really interesting player because he's got great upper body strength and he's a weight he's a powerlifter um he's got a little bit better feet than I think people thought because he was thought to be maybe a guard or Center the Niners have played him at right tackle Jacob Jacob Cowing cowing is small and there's durability issues there but man he looks good at 5'8 and 75 180 pounds uh Isaac gendo is Isaac Guerendo gonna have a hard time making this team you know he had a severe hamstring injury um he he doesn't have a lot of Natural Instincts as a runner he might be the perfect return guy as well um because of his power speed combination gendo is intriguing he had one practice he had two or three highlight runs where he looked really overpowering and fast and then he went down with a hamstring injury and he looks like he could be out a month um ma Malik Mustafa made an Malik Mustapha interception the other day that was just Savage he reached up and oneand grab of a ball intended from dobs to Renardo green Mustafa looks like he can play strong safety or free safety Dominic Dominick Puni puny has been running with the ones at Right Guard um I think there's a very good chance that puny uh winds up starting at Right Guard Chris Forester told us this morning that puny before the the OTAs learned all of his installations watched all of his install videos memorized them he says he's never had a guy work that hard um this guy's smart he's tough he works hard Dominic puny might be the guy who Renardo Green starts right away Renardo green I think is gonna start right away as well I mean he's gonna he's a he's another Alpha he's a really good cover guy I think he can play in the slot or he can play outside and then Piera you know we Ricky Pearsall haven't seen Piera in the one one-on ones we've only seen him in 11 on 11 I think he'll start doing some one-on-ones tomorrow I'm eager to see how he does in the one-on ones but his route running is refined and his hands are pretty good so I would say peol is um you know a guy who's definitely exciting and the and the the uh the chemistry that Brock has with peol is clearly evident at this point all right we are brought to you by pig and a pickle the best barbecue in all of Northern California check them out in Emoryville and C of Madera they're open seven days a week from 11:00 a.m. till 8:00 p.m. or until they run out and this video brought to you by sharp corner sports cards and collectibles 205 Cypress Avenue and Pacific Grove California um call Anthony Katan at 831 521 5264 and thanks to all of you
