we need a little bit more time we don't have no kids with us right now we got to pick them up by what Tuesday is it Wednesday or thday Tuesday so 3:00 okay well um thank you guys for having me here um I was like what do I talk about it's talk about me to share with you ladies because I've always wanted every time you go to a summon or you go to a conference they get up here and they tell you all the bells and whistles about the Glorious side of running a business well there is no glorious side that's it especially when you're mom so as you guys know I am a widow um my husband passed unexpectedly back in 2018 at that time I had three kids under the age of five my go yes now we have we survived that we're going in another season of Our Lives creeping mom doesn't know anything um business is growing trying to figure that part out so um after my husband passed two weeks afterwards my job who I started working with from the time they grow ground on their school buil their business from parent handbook employee handbook I did everything the owners were absent two weeks after my husband class I get a phone call we think we should stay home with the kids excuse me I have no income no income um what I'm going to do well you know what I did it was October 31st iow I poured me a glass of [Music] tequila in a Yeti Stu I looked at my three babies and said let's go trick- or treat we just moved into this neighborhood I didn't know anyone no one we walked out we started trick- or-treating my kids was like let go my I got okay we're going to crawl behind him let's go and I start talking to everyone in the neighborhood because now I have no income and I have three kids after I put those kids to bed that night I went on the patio and I cried my ass out I said Lord you wrote this story I need to see the next page I need to sneak peek I need to figure out what I going to do he said you know that business you started in 2010 you keep pushing aside I'm going to need you to start running huh I don't run where what where I'm going get up and run I said okay let me go and pull everything back out that I put aside opened it up I just start from the beginning next day I sat down my mom and I said Mom I'm not going back to work she was like girl what you talking about I said I'm not doing it you want to know why I'm not doing it because no one's going to understand the Dynamics of my family I don't want anyone telling me that I can't be at a at a play I don't want no one tell me I can't go on a field trip I don't want to have to ask permission to take my kids to Jamaica when I feel like it I want my kids to know I was there amen their life has already been upside down they lost their dad they got to navigate life with a one one parent household and that one parent is going to be president so she went off and told my grandmother so my grandmother looked at her and said I've always told you that girl was different leave her alone she know what she's doing my aunt oh my goodness we had just bought our house been our house for one year we cleaned out my husband's 4 on 1K to put a down pit on the house we had no nothing he just started a job at publ about to hit his 90day Mark so we can get all his benefits life insurance policy and everything I got nothing all we have is one check coming in the house and that's the kids social security everyone said oh go and apply for food stamps I got denied why because my husband worked his butt off to make sure he had some money in that pot for his kids and the system said said ma'am you make to you got too much money coming in the house we can't give you food stamps man we just went through my whole all my bills what do you mean well well I mean you have a house yeah but I got to feed these kids well food stamp is a supplement okay no problem I'll figure it out because that's the hustle of me my kids are not going to starve so time goes on I'm I get up and I'm going Network after Network after Network after Network my goal is to make sure before I leave out of a room people know who I am if it's not me personally it's my business I'm searching social media I'm finding people that I would that I've been following where are you at I see your success I want to be where you are cuz that's how you grow a business plant yourself in room and you can tell when you enter a room if it's where you should be at or not but also before you leave that room you have to you have to say to yourself did I make that first step or I'm waiting for someone to approach me if you're in a room and you're waiting for someone to approach you then your mindset is not right I'll pull up on somebody quickly hey girl how you do hi my name is pish I want own bus you got to know it all I'm going have a whole skill I may walk away they be like who is that but when they hear oh I need child care event like you know that there that crazy girl that came by and just kind of like oh that's how we okay but if you don't know me somebody does so as I'm building what happens Co we have a whole calendar full of events everyone's canceling and rescheduling and this and that and I'm like Oh my goodness Lord what do I do what do I do he said stay focused this is your downtime this is what you're going to start working on because there there's something over this hump that we're at right now I said okay let's go what are we working on everyone the favorite word that year was pivot pivot pivot we I'm pivoting into I started looking on social media other companies that were in the same area that I was in what they were doing I'm like I'm not teaching nobody kid they they only doing two I'm not two I'm two I don't even kids I hate somebody so I started looking at okay let me see what type of events do we have coming in most of the time we have weddings all right you know what I'm going to do I'm specializing in weddings and he said yes you are let's start building so I spent that whole time during Co spending time with my kids talking to them explaining to them but I'm explaining it to them about what Mommy's doing because one thing that I do know and I do believe and I and I encourage all moms and everything is that we're doing it for our kids yes but do they understand what we're doing do they understand how our business runs I tell my kids all the time you may be on vacation I'm not always on vacation if my hands is not on this computer at least one time a day while we on vacation there's no money that comes in B because Mommy doesn't go on WE I'll take you we'll go cruising but one day on that cruise I may have to send a contract or I may have to follow up or I may have to take a phone call that doesn't mean that I'm absent that means I have to keep the money to keep coming in door yall like cruising and they like cruising my daughter told me we haveen been on the cruise you want to
