welcome to Jacksonville Alabama a hidden gym a few miles from the border of Georgia and home to the Gamecock of Jacksonville State where these fans are fired up for this showdown about to play out on bur snow field maybe you need a little caffeine or maybe the sheer energy of this matchup will keep you wide awake as we know anything can happen when you kick off after dark as we'll see a squad from the sunb the Coastal Carolina Shanta clear taking on a team from Conference USA the Jacksonville State Gamecocks for EA Sports college football I'm reys Davis joined here in the booth by David poock and Jesse Palmer and guys let's get this thing [Applause] started he'll bring it out it's right gets it across the 20 to the 21 and not quite what he would have picked up just taking the touch back so Jacksonville State's offense will have the first possession of the game and here he comes the guy who pulls all the strings in this attack I think what makes him so unique he has such a good understanding of this offense always seems to know what the answer is to the test always in control the receivers know they're going to get the football everybody believes in this dude and that play is essentially like a jet sweep right this offense is going to run the football conventionally they'll do it between the tackles they'll do it outside but there's a lot of different creative ways they can get their Playmakers the football in the running game and I think that was an example of what you saw right there kept it on the ground on first down let's see what they do on second touch pass on the Jet Sweep looking for room at the 40 really nice pick up there as they have it out to the 44 with a first down the offense making a statement early in this game they're going to open the entire play going to show this defense so many different looks and try to keep them on their heels I love that play call you could see the defense wasn't sure what was going on from the 44 yd line the offense snaps it on first down and a nice job by the running back finding space getting downhill making the good run great job finishing with his pads good spot after that y pick up on first down it's second and three trying and playaction fires to the tight end and they make the tackle but he has plenty for the first down no reason to panic when you see those extra bodies coming just find the big tight head well and the great ones do that I think the great ones are okay you want to Blitz I know my answers I'm all right I'll stay patient find the matchup this time it was the tight end finds the tight end throws strike gets the first down off play action on first down gets rid of it grabbed on the outside it's brown and he'll step out of bounds after a very productive play I'll say this man in college football you see a lot of bad tackling you didn't see it right there that was an awesome job first off being there at the point of attack once the tight end made the catch there was no doubt he was going down great job form tackle going to run it it's Lewis and he's knocked down but not before moving the chain and listen the offensive line has to do their job but a really good job by the running back understanding where his hole is go hit it get the first down don't mess around nice job following his hole getting positive yards and the game coocks with the first and 10 on the move it's Turner shoots it to the left got him down field and he was loose and in the open field and on his way a tremendous pick up on that one and those slot receivers nowadays they're little water bugs man you you can play Touch football in an elevator to lose to these guys because they're so quick and so Dynamic get open and catch the football the Gamecock have it in scoring position on first and goal they'll try to get it in with the Run he is going nowhere stop at the line of scrimmage everybody talks about DBS they talk about dropping in coverage and not being physical that DB begs to differ great tackle coming up playing physical like a linebacker can the D deny them on second and goal he'll keep it himself he bullies his way all the way down to the 5 yd line well the QB decided to keep it that one and listen if you had his athleticism you'd want to keep it too almost every time they run these types of option plays but he's just going to have to do a good job of understanding when to hand it off when to pitch it and try to keep this defense on their heels and read his keys he's got a lot of talent just got to make sure he's making the right decisions moving forward stagged in the end zone touchdown game what a nice job by the offense first drive of the game they matriculate it down thei will put themselves in a go tog go situation on third down it's not going to be easy throwing it but they win the match up accurate throw they [Music] get ready to try the point after and the extra point is good and it's seven nothing so it's an 80 yd drive and the score comes on a 5yd touchdown pass the kickoff team out there set to boot it away he'll bring it back from inside to SP nice job executing all of the assignments as they put a stop to that return at the 22 so the Coastal Carolina Shanta ca's offense has the ball for the first time here are our impact players for this game and it goes beyond executing an assignment to make an impact in the game yeah obviously we were talking to both coaching staffs this week and we asked them who needs to step up and play well they immediately pointed to these guys right here they are the key for their respective teams yeah and they don't always show up in the Box Score but these are the guys are the leaders these are the guys getting everybody organized and have to play well for their team to succeed the shot that clears want to move [Applause] quickly they'll run it behind the big guys on the left and he does a really nice job finding open space and making a good gain before the stop is made listen you you got to be able to know what what play to call and what hole to go through like the line blocks for a certain hole good job getting through the hole getting what was blocked getting a nice positive gain making your situation really good on the next down they'll run it from the gun they are on the move down to the 32 and they pick up another first down and that's back to back now we've seen this running back get it done on their opening drive of the game that last carry got the first down so if I'm the off coordinator right now I love the way my old Line's playing and I love the way this guy's toen The Rock I'm going to give it to him again they'll snap this one from the 32 it's first down dropping back it's Basco he's got him in the flat and they pick up just a few on that completion well he comes up with the reception but not a lot of room to run after that yeah and I like the QB doing this I mean I'm going to find ways to give him the football and can Miss and I'm going to bet most of the time that my guy is a little bit more athletic than that defensive guy defense won this battle but I like trying to get this guy the ball in Space the pull and throw off the RPO finally pulled down but not before moving the chains for a first down and a big key on that throw to the slot receiver guys is putting the ball out in front the location of the throw is what helped that guy get extra yards after the catch and the shant to clear is getting set on First and [Applause] 10 from the Red Zone he's going to throw it he's right on Target and the defense holds firm no pickup at all on that play nice job defense you always hear people talk about tackling the catch you saw it right there there was nowhere for that receiver to go once he had possession as a result no game offense gets set for second down he's looking to throw he's got his man he'll get it all the way down to the eight yd line and the defense is feeling the heat when you play zone coverage everybody drops back everybody has eyes on the quarterbacks you're not really looking at the wide receivers a lot of times so they can slip in those little cracks and the quarterback can really make precise throws great job great play great throw great game back to the air one more time got it and he was dying to push his way in there but he's knocked down at the three well when you're running the drag outout against man coverage like that as a quarterback you got to put the ball out in front of your target when you do that you give the guy a chance to then Advance the football up the field pick up a first down like they did right there they've got it down to the three now it's second and [Applause] goal on the ground and will cruise into The End Zone touchdown go to Carolina the best running backs are the guys that can just sniff out the end zone that running back showed you all of his freakish ability on that play getting set for the point after and it's up and good they marched 79 yards on the drive and close the deal with a three- yd touchdown run all tied up and just about set to kick it away on the run from inside his own five and the return man showing great vision to be able to find some space and put his team in much better field position gives it to the back on the draw they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one well the offense trying to catch him off guard a little bit running that draw play but the defense wasn't fooled everybody stayed in their Lane and they're able to get the tackle for loss didn't get much done on that first play of the drive it's second and 11 to the air it's Turner quickly complete he almost picked up the first down on that one but he'll be just a little bit short you see it more in more smaller wide receivers I don't care about their size anymore I put them in the slot I let them get a good match up they're so quick people can't get their hands on them they make plays and I feed them the football these are guys that have a lot of catches throughout a season off the play fake throws to the wide out and they fail to hook up on third down defense did a great job third and short on the opponent side of the field they're expecting quick throw everybody they dug their heel on the ground they're able to break on the ball Force the incompletion and the Gamecock will bring the punt team onto the field [Applause] bringing it back it's Graves they'll get down and put a stop to this return they'll mark it at the 32 Coastal Carolina takes over and here comes the offense David they'd love to do what they did last time and put this one in the end zone you ain't lying they did a great job the offense was clicking everything went well Palmer they executed and got the touchdown and they really were in a nice Rhythm as well and I'd love to see that here on the next drive too just keep doing what you're doing everything seems to be working and you seem to have this defense on their heels they'll snap this one from the 42 it's first and 10 looking to move it through the air just a short pass to the tight end I'll tell you I love the play call on first down here you're just trying to find an easy completion and the shortest throw on the field for the quarterback is finding your biggest Target and that's the tight end nice job now here on second down see if they keep tossing it around the run to the right he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple well he was trying to do it all by himself at the end of the day it's a tackle for I mean the number of tackles he broke at some point somebody's got to get blocked to help the guy out a little bit mean the defense was like a bunch of zombies on that last play they just would not stop chasing that ball car spotted right at Midfield as they try to convert third and short they'll try to pick it up on the ground and they did not let him get to that first down line it'll bring up a call here the shot the clears will call on their punt team he ought to be able to use this first punt to pin him deep making sure there's no return on that one as the punt sails out of bounds Jacksonville State has it back and the game Cox will go to work last time David it was one two three kick the last drive that three and out sometimes that puts your defense in a bad spot and you got to get a drive together here so you don't wear the defense out I just think Dave too predictable that last Drive they got to do something here to get this defense on their heels first down for this offense not a whole lot of room there three yard maybe second and seven tried to pound it on first down now back to the line gets it out fast he's close to the first down but they're going to Mark him just a little short you know David this is really what game managing is nice pick up on second down to help them on the next play yeah I think people look at that negative sometimes finding a quarterback that's a game manager no use your brain set up good situations I'm I'm way more successful when I can keep those sticks at a more manageable situation and I'm not as predictable on a third down a quick tackle made but he's got ready for the first down it's tough on the defense there third down your in zone coverage everybody's watching the quarterback and you're trying to make a break on the ball but he just got it out of his hands too quickly and the throw was too accurate really nothing you can do there and it's now a fresh set of downs they'll try it over the left side he's dropped behind the line of scrimmage that'll be a loss of three so first down didn't exactly go according to plan let's see what they can dial up on second down reys I got him right where I want him okay I'm going to throw the football now I can get back in shotgun forget the running game stuff we're going to play a little pitch and catch and see how good that secondary is the give to the back couple of guys there to get him on the ground well the defense may have been caught off guard a little bit on that play it was second and long they weren't expecting the run so now we've got third and manageable and they've got to be wondering to themselves is this offense going to try to run the ball again here now on third down after that run scanning the field it's Turner spits it out to the back gets it out quickly and they wrap him up but not before four he gets it up on the catch for the first down man it is such a weapon to have running backs that can not only run the football but can catch it as well and a nice job there David finding the match up one-on-one with a linebacker little angle route to get the first down yeah and those angle routes are hard to defend because the running back looks like he's going out first so when I'm a linebacker I'm like oh crap I got to catch him and then he breaks in really quickly and a nice throw to Thro in front of him and get the first down yeah and I think you've just seen how the back has so much confidence in this guy catching the ball too right receivers aren't open tight ends aren't open he knows he can find him running out of the back field or if he lines up a wide receiver this dude can get open and he can make positive things happen after he has the ball the RPO it's complete and a good job in coverage there as they stop it after just a few my old coach said you'll never go broke taking a profit take what's there take the yards and never complain they've worked it down to the 30 this defense Standing Tall trying to force a field goal try they'll try to get it through the air he finds his man good job running that route to get past the sticks because he got nothing after the catch really nice job there by the quarterback understanding that it's Zone coverage on third down you're going to have to find someone working into a soft spot get the ball out of your hands quickly make an accurate throw and pick up the first well done off the play fake on first down and he's feeling the heaten he will go down final play of the first quarter and not the way he wanted to end it we've played one and we are right back where we started all tied up after the first period as we take a look at the stats they fought to a stand still in the first let's see if someone can get the edge in the second quarter now the offense has to overcome the negative play after the defense comes up with a sack finds a man on the right they bring him down a solid pick up to put them in position to pick up a first down nice job by the quarterback and receiver working the curl route receiver got his depth and he fought back to the football helping make that completion a whole lot easier here they come facing third and long from the 20 looking to throw it's turner He's Got It On the Run they make the tackle but he's got a fresh set of downs and it's first and goal from the seven defenses are put in such a tough spot when offenses get in third and short because the whole Playbook is open and they go with the pass I love it they sneak the pass in there nice success great job by the quarterback getting rid of the football getting the first down now set up first and goal with the run on first and goal he'll be brought down at the 5 yd line and this defense is on it heels we'll see if the offense can punch it in on second and goal caught in the back field it's brown he's all the way down to the two yd line just spectacular execution there I like this tight end he does a really nice job on his route running he's been beating man coverage he can find the soft spots and zones you got to get him in a third and goal call here from the two let's see if they can finish the deal the give they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one man it has been a long drive offensively I just feel like you got to pay this off and be aggressive you're down close punch it in for a touchdown here po yeah and inside the three yd line I think I might try to finish this off with a touchdown I ate up a ton of clock wore these guys out now they'd have to go the length of the field missed he got it and with that field goal they now have the lead [Music] after putting three on the board the kickoff unit ready to [Applause] go he'll start the return inside his five he was hoping for something a little more Dynamic that they get him on the ground at the 20 Coastal Carolina has it the Shanta CER offense headed back to the field from the gun they'll try to impose their will tried to fight his way through that tackle but he's brought down awesome job up front by this defensive line being so good at the point of attack and eating blocks eating some double teams that allows these linebackers to run free unencumbered and get to the football they got nothing on the last play it's second and 10 back to throw it's Vasco and he got smacked just as he released the pass it's incomplete it's hard throwing in the pocket man you got 300 lb dudes falling all over the place they're trying to hit you that time the pressure got to them and it forced the incompletion if they can convert here that type of play can really give you a shot of momentum on third down going up top good timing on the quick out oh he just needed to stretch the ball out a few inches more and he would have picked up the first down he was a great individual effort there on third down getting back a bunch of yards now they're in a position to go for here on four and the shot to clear send out the punt unit this will be the second time they've had to kick it away makes a move he was hoping for a little more Running Room but they're able to get him down at the 45 guys we'll see what Jacksonville State can get going on o they're going to open this drive with a pass quick completion on the out and that defense is there to guide him out of bounds after a short gain yeah and he runs a quick out route and this is a timing route quarterback has to trust and throw the football you could tell theyve thrown this a time or two nice job nice success now on second down PS it fires to the left tackled at the 45 after the 5yd play it's enough for the first down now here's this offense with a fresh set of downs power football with the Run nice move to keep running and the first guy couldn't get him but the second one does but not until he picked up the first down all right well look I know the defense was feeling real good about their run de coming into this one and how they've been playing up to this point but finally David the offense breaks through and they finally generate something positive on the ground and I can't tell you how easy it is when you're going to throw the ball consistently and I know it I'm going to pin my ears back and I'm going to get to the quarterback it makes life really easy on a defensive line but when you can have balance now the defense doesn't know what's coming they need more of this if they're going to be successful on offense tip ball put it up for GRS and I thought he had it but somehow it slithered through his fingers now on second down after the incompletion looking to throw it's Turner finds his tight end they ripped off seven on that one now a third down and three well we knew coming into this one the tight end was a big part of this offense and you've seen it early in this game they've moved him around they've thrown it to to him in a lot of different ways defense is going to have to make some adjustments trying to stop this guy Ball's at the 27 it's third and short can they avoid making that fourth down decision they'll try to get the first through the air got his man quickly and they'll finally get him down after a terrific pick up he might have expected to see this DB up in his receiver's kitchen instead nice little Zone and they pick up the first man offenses are getting so good at seeing the holes in the zone knowing you're in zone knowing where to sit down how to make it an easy pitch and catch for the quarterback and that's what it was on Third and short takes the hand off it's Lewis a seven yd pickup it'll be second and three keep pounding away at this defense and make them play the run if you can get this many a chunk they're going to have to commit more guys to the Box more guys to the run then you open it up for the passing game operating in the Red Zone here on second down quarterback on the keeper and he's loose and he'll take it to the house touchdown game I definitely like being the quarterback coach this guy cuz he makes me look good I mean he makes me defend the whole field as a defense and all the weapons and all the options and then he can do that he can take it himself glide into the end zone and get six on to attempt the try and with the extra point they pushed the lead out a little further that drive covered 55 yds for the score and the Capper on that drive the 10yd touchdown run the kickoff team out there getting [Applause] set here he comes from inside his own five nice job executing all of the assignments as they put a stop to that return at the 22 Coastal Carolina takes over and here comes the offense to the air it's Basco the deficit here is just 10 points David So a chance to answer here of time left in this football game no need to panic this offense just has to put a couple Drives together and listen the defense will get this back and get some stops F and get you the football back and I think I think here too David you have an opportunity to keep the pressure on the opponent yeah they just went down and scored but you score here and this game still tight you keep their feet to the fire so an opportunity here to keep applying that pressure the give to the tail back and he surges up to the 36 yd line and they'll move the chains all right defense that's that's what we can't do we can't give up this many chunk yards on the ground got to commit more guys to the line of scrimmage got to get those running backs on the ground that's way too easy Bill snap it from the 36 they've got a first down he's looking to throw it C in the back field it's Bennett and that will go backwards a negative play in that defense on high alert that time love the awareness by the defense here they're trying to get the running back the ball in space but the defense was expecting it they had guys in position they located the football and they went and gain tackle line getting set on second down he's looking to throw quickly to the tie down he's brought down solid pick up but a little bit short of the first down so an example of a tight end doing a little unheralded work to set a much better third down situation and I like the QB here ree I like the decision where I understand let's get this football out let's get some positive yards and then get to third down and we can still have a better situation now because we got rid of the football and took the yards that were there now the play fake and they couldn't make the connection on the long shot third and short like that on your own side of the field you're just looking for a quick hitter you're trying to get the ball out of your hand quickly but the timing completely off there for the offense and the ball Falls incomplete the shot that clears will send out the punt unit fair catch called for and made Jacksonville State has it back in the game Cox will go to work on that last Drive defense had no idea what was happening run or pass net wound up in the end zone Jesse yeah you saw the experience in this offense that last track too on that touchdown everybody on the same page these guys have repped these plays over and over in practice and in games and it's working yeah so I got to find a way to disrupt it I got to find a way to maybe be more aggressive maybe Blitz mess up this Rhythm they got going he'll pull it on the re nice move there and he's tripped up but not before picking up the first down quarterbacks like this are what makes college football so special today it seems like we see these unbelievably athletic quarterbacks all across the country week in and week out making plays like this guys that are true dual threats that can hurt you not only throwing it but can hurt you running it as well they'll throw it on first down and it's incomplete if you're going to take a hit like that you might as well hang on to the ball yeah and you use these running backs so much in the passing game now and you expect him to make those plays for you to make those big explosive plays out of the back field just got to make sure he concentrates and see that ball come in after the incompletion let's see if they go back to the air on second and 10 from the 33 picks up the first down and a really nice run and pick up there before the defense avoided disaster and stopped the really big play and that is just an attitude run running it right up the middle right into the teeth of that defense the Gamecocks are flying down the field the back goes in motion to the air it's Turner takes the easy throw in the flat and a good job of coverage by that defense just a short pick up you know sometimes even a short gain like that can be used to set up something bigger later on no doubt Reese they can pump that and take a shot down the field and don't worry they're going to go back to that same play cuz they know this guy with the ball in his hands is dangerous he makes one guy Miss he can take it to the house motion from the offense on second down wants to throw it what a job to lay out and make the catch you know this sophomore has a big arm and there were some revolutions on that one man I I love those guys that are willing to put their body on the line and he does it right here man just lays out that Ball's coming in you can see it from several yards out making that play laying out keeping the football from touching the turf great concentration great effort by the receiver they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one so you get stuffed on first down and now you have the offensive coordinator thinking a little bit yeah we're probably going to have to throw it now in this second play but what are we going to see defensively now that they know we're throwing might they Blitz us do I have to leave more guys in Block there's a real cat and mouse game going on right now between these two coaching staffs he'll try to pop the draw Jes his way for more and he's able to bounce off one tackle for a solid pick up and as an offensive coordinator you don't need the perfect play with this guy as your running back he's going to make the play perfect for you because he makes everybody miss spin moves hurdles stiff arms speed whatever it takes to move the sticks and score touchdowns third and short from the 28 let's see if this is four down territory or if they just pick up the first here from the gun wants to pass he's got an open man and they reacted well to the completion but it was too late to keep him from getting the first down the magic bean is spinning out of control already over 200 yards in the first half yeah they're being aggressive offensively throwing the football trying to take advantage of this defense on the back end they've got their quarterback right now in a group now from inside the Red Zone grabbed in the middle it's cuber they stop him just short of the first down but it will be second and inches coming up looks as if we have an injury on that last play and we'll take a break to check him out going to work on second down in the red zone is still some ground to cover to pick up that first down looking downfield it's Turner he makes it a catch in the end zone touchdown Jacksonville State that tou gives his team a pretty significant lead at this point and that's what you want you want to start fast you want everything to come out start clicking make some plays it doesn't always work that way but when you do man the energy the crowd everybody's into it now the other team better respond lining up to add another and the extra point will tack another one onto this lead so it's an 80 yd drive and they get it into the end zone with a sixy touchdown pass kickoff team is on the field they'll try to drive this one deep on the move from inside is five and the coverage team able to make the tackle Coastal Carolina has it the Shanta CLE offense headed back to the field after giving up that score now it's incumbent on this offense to kind of get a back and forth going Jesse in this game they got to put some points on the board here there's obviously a lot of football to go so it's not necessarily Panic time just yet but I'm getting the ball into the hands of my best Playmakers on this drive I hear you Jesse but not panic time have you seen my defense I mean I'm not trusting them to get a lot of STS so he puts a lot of pressure on this offense wants to throw on second down got his man in the middle brought down at the 26 after a 15yd pick up there's got to be a sense of urgency for this offense right now they're trailing they're going to be kicking off to open the second half so they need points they need to go Tempo maybe that last first down gets them a little bit of confidence and the shot to clear is in the hurry up looking for space it's Bennett defense in the right spot they stop him after a gain of two to the 28 and sticking to the run I tell you what a lot of teams that are really good are really stubborn and they continue to run the football even with little success so this offense is going to continue to focus on running the football you can tell second down here in maybe they've got time to get one more snap off before the two-minute warning we've reached the two-minute warning and this thing has been onesided and they hope to at least have something to feel good about going into halftime they've made third down offense a key it'll be tested on Third and long from the 28 looking for a man it's Vasco and a missed opportunity on third down as the defense knocks it free and fourth down is coming up this is a point where you just got to be able to focus and the critical down and distances in this game like that third down right there when it's a good throw you got to make the catch you've got to be able to make that play the shot that clears will punt it away on fourth down he'll try to really get into this one here's the fair catch but there is a flag on the field we might have to do this one again so the decision has been made and the coach will take the penalty man oh man those types of penalties just drive defensive coordinators crazy was fourth down now first down and the defense makes the immediate tackle but he has enough for the first down oh man did he turn that one loose and fired it into the teeth of the zone and you know as a quarterback Reese when you're throwing it to the perimeter of the field on these curl routes you've got to have some heat you've got to have arm to to get that ball out quickly into the hands of your receiver before all those Defenders can get to it man this QB's got a Canon working that left side now just what they were looking for and he's got him set up in business at the 35 with the first down using him out of the slot he has just been Unstoppable and I love putting Dynamic athletes in the slot that I can move around that I can put in motion that I can I can make him go in or out I can put him off the ball so you can't get hands on him and they've really featured this guy today and he unleashed the RPMs on that pass man this sophomore has an arm and what an individual effort making a beautiful catch diving out and snagging it ree just laid his body out and that's a huge gain after the spectacular reception and the Shanta clears have it with a first and 10 makes the grab along the sidelines but it'll be a little short of the first down the Shota clears looking to take advantage of this Red Zone trip on the run it's Vasco he looks that one in nicely defense makes a stop but the chains move in it's first and goal from the eight there's a timeout called as this offense tries to find a way to draw a little closer this offense needs a little something to feel good about going to halftime a chance to chip away here on first and goal they want to throw it fires to the end zone and that one's going to be over everybody's head and incomplete well that last incompletion is a good example of why your timing has to be so good as a quarterback because the windows they open and they close so quickly in this part of the field defense rose up deep in its own end on that last play now a second and long coming he's looking to throw caught behind the line it's Coleman and he Motors into the end zone touchdown shot to clear and I tell you what that passing touchdown man that bark this whole team like The Comeback is more than on now like they got the touchdown they cut into the lead you want to get a stop and go into the half get all the juices all the excitement and be like listen the passing game's rolling we got this The Comebacks in full effect lining up for the Pat and the extra point is good but they're still down 2414 they put it in the end zone with a 12pl scoring drive and he takes this from inside the five didn't find any crease in that kickoff coverage and he'll be stopped at the 17 guys we'll see what Jacksonville State can get going on o they've got some time to work with here Jesse and if they get a first down they might really get aggressive I'd be aggressive right out of the gate I'd be throwing for a first down if I get it then it's pedal to the medal I'm in that two-minute mode to try to score a touchdown or get a field but I do think this is a situation where you also have to understand that I have the lead going into the half I've got the momentum so don't do anything stupid here let's see what they've got on second down back to pass it's Turner that one never had a chance incomplete good and find his man last time now they'll have to convert third and four from the gun wants to pass got it in the middle it's Lewis makes the grab and it's enough for the first down before he's dragged to the ground it's all about critical downs and distances on defense you want to be great unit defensively you've got to be good on third down and in the red zone for this defense giving up a third down like that that is just a gut punch to the air on first down that's reeled in it's right they'll knock him down and that'll take us to passing game for both sides has been outstanding on point unrelenting they've excelled in the short game the intermediate game and especially on the Deep ball all in all a thrilling display of offensive Firepower and these def defenses have a lot to discuss here at halftime and with that let's head back to the guys at JSU Stadium kickoff and kickoff return teams on the field and we are just about ready to go in the second half from inside the 10 yd line he'll bring it back he was hoping for something a little more Dynamic that they get him on the ground at the 20 Coastal Carolina Tak over and here comes the offense starting this third quarter on the ground pass the sticks and he may get more and they'll finally catch up to him but not before a big chunk of yardage is picked up man that's excellent blocking there on the left side of the line they were able to get great push get off the line create a little bit of crease for that running back they just created a wall he had all kinds of room to run yeah I might I'm might go back to that one and call that one again it works so well looking to go up top on first down caught in the back field it's Bennett didn't pick up a lot there moved it Forward just a few well he made the grab but the doors closed quickly after that and I like this I want to find my running back but man he's got to do a little more damage after the catch I need I need a stiff arm I need a spin move I need something where he can make that guy Miss can pick up a bunch of yards and maybe get a big play out of it out of the shotgun they go to the ground and he'll pick up the first down after a tough run there well you wonder if one of the adjustments they made at halftime trailing in this game was to try and get the ground game established David and they're off to a good start here dang right stay patient you don't have to worry about it you don't have to press just try to get scoring Drives together don't abandon the Run he'll come out throwing on first down tight end finds a soft spot really good concept there to get things going and use the tight end early yeah I mean just such a great job on first down setting up an easier second down understanding I don't always have to push the ball down the field but see the tight end make the throw know it's not a big G but makes life really easy on the on second down wants to throw it's Basco quick strike complete he's run out of bounds but he's got enough to move the sticks well the offense trying to attack the perimeter of the field in the passing game and how about the the sweet feet by the receiver on that play who doesn't like a little dash of the yarts with their football a little ballet moment there and the Shanta clears want to pick up the tempo trying to cap this drive with a pass and this will be incomplete a big hit there forces second down couldn't make the connection last time let's see if they throw it again leaves it with the back and they drag him down but not before he picks up the first down and a great job by the offensive line if you're going to run the ball right at the middle you better control the line of scrimmage you can see the center the guard the tackles doing a good job getting on their guys just enough where this running back can get into the space and make the big game the shot that clear have it with a first and goal he wants to throw it makes the grab and he won't be able to push his way Ino the one second and goal for the offense he's looking to throw it's incomplete he was shooting for the end zone right there I love the coverage on defense in the Red Zone everyone's got their eyes on the they're flying to the football and you saw that there on the incompletion so they're on the one Y Line the incomplete pass on second down maybe you just Tred to drive it in on the ground this time let's it go to the end zone and he's got it touchdown Co and third and goal I'm giving it to my playmaker you let your quarterback make this decision whether he wants to run it in or right here he sees the opportunity his wide open hits him in stride for the easy touchdown and it looks as if they've buzzed down replay wants to have another Peak at that last play after taking another look just to confirm everything the official on the field got it right play will stand and it's up and good as they draw Just a Touch closer they marched 79 yds on the drive it was capped off by a one- yd touchdown pass a lining up to boot it away he'll bring it back from inside his SP nice job by the kickoff team everybody stayed in their LAN will stop him at the 16 Jacksonville State has it back and the Gamecock will go to work p and fired complete they make the stop trying to pick up just a little bit at a time to get to that first down marker this offense has a second down play trying to make that Rush think on the draw play here and chunk plays on the name of the game and they get one here before the defense finally makes the stop man this guy's a playmaker and he does not need a lot of space really nice job that time letting the pass rush get up field so when he got the football there was just green grass out and ahead of him and he made the defense p and when I got a guy like that man I just got to find ways to get him past the dline right and then the draw play is a good way to do it let them run themselves up the field then you can see he's got some serious speed a lot of speed in space is always a good recipe for offense got stuffed on first down it's second and 10 to throw it's Turner fires left it's complete not down immediately but a big gain down to the 45 and because the receiver was able to drive back to the QB on that curl route against man coverage he was able to create a little bit of separation between him and the defender and that was a big key in getting that first down and the Gamecocks are moving quickly down the field the give out of the gun and this one will be stopped for No Gain maybe that stop is a good sign for this def maybe the defense is starting to figure it out obviously offense has been running the football with so much success something has to change that was a good start they got nothing on the last play it's second and 10 to the ground with the back a pick up of eight now to convert this third and two trying to pick up a first down they move the tight end all over the playaction fake he unleashes a long one third and short in college football today you see so much more pass than you used to the offense stays aggressive and I think they stay aggressive because they know they're in field go range they got that three in their back pocket the Gamecock will line up to punt it away this will be the second time they've had to kick it away how about this it's out of bounds inside the 10 and they're going to mark it right around the five yd line what a great job there he's going to pass makes the grab over the middle and the defense in to stop that one for a short gain they've done a really good job creating the matchups they want out of the slot yeah dude get that guy matched up on a linebacker that guy matched up on a safety keep him away from the corners by putting him in the slot get him the football let him make plays PS and fires complete to the right and there were no creases or crevices to run through and they shove him out of bounds catch by the big Target those big tight ends you can tell in football are just becoming more and more of a weapon on every single team third and short they've got them back up inside the 20 and the D can get the ball back here he'll do it himself hey get him on the ground after he gets enough to move the sticks this quarterback is so dangerous and it looked like the defense had him coralled it looked like they were ready for him to keep the football but that quarterback is just too good he's like a water bug so good short area quickness able to make guys miss then go get the first and the shot to clear has come to the line with a new set of downs back to throw it's Vasco using the quick game and the defense had that one well covered just a short game there a defense man it helps you a lot when you can be a linebacker or corner body and you see the QB throw the football now I can break on the football right away and limit gains like right here on this play after the short completion let's see if they go back to the air on second down he's looking down field catch in the middle it's Coleman they make the stop after the catch and still some work to do to pick up that first down and I love when my quarterback sees Zone and knows exactly where to go with the football sees the wide receiver running the drag out knows when to throw it pulls the trigger for the easy they'll try to move the chains on Third and short from the 27 snap it to the back he'll have the first down as he gets it to the 28 yard line before he stopped I don't need it to be pretty I just need my inches third down in inches nice job by getting the first down always fall forward play physical don't get East and West stay north and south nice job by the running back offense has it at the 28 on first down running back goes in motion he wants to throw looking to the big tight end a strike downfield off he goes you want to talk about Shifting the field in an instant he's got it all the way down to the 10 yd line it's a beautiful pass and catch I love the job the quarterback does manipulating the defense with his eyes he Froze that safety and that allowed his receiver more room to work his route the shot that clears will hustle to the [Applause] line grabbed behind the line it's Tucker that completion will take it close to the 5 yd line they'll mark it at the six going to work in the Red Zone they can pick up the first down without getting it into the End Zone from the gun give on the inside he works his way all the way down to the three and the defense is reeling boy they'd love to pick up this conversion and go to work with a first and goal dropping back it's basal touchdown go Carolina they looked finished but they're all the way back and they have the lead this game must be moving so slowly for this quarterback he sees everything two or three beats ahead way ahead I mean it's been been really really easy I better get some more hits on him I better do something to make him feel uncomfortable cuz right now it's just like oh you're running that yeah that's easy I mean he's he's already read your mail you better change the address do something different he'll try to tack on one more and the extra point is good and it's a point lead almost ready to kick it away after scoring the touchdown on the run from inside zone five and the returner is stopped guys we'll see what Jacksonville State can get going on own these guys just took a punch now we'll see if they can deliver one Jesse Yeah it's turning into a bit of a fight here in the second half all of a sudden so let's see what this offense has let's see who can step up here and make a play and I'm not concerned about the other offense just do you do what you've done to be successful throughout this game picked up two yards on that last one they need eight on second down he's looking to throw buys a little time and he avoids the hit and slides after the short game well great job there by the defense because they weren't able to get him sacked right away but you saw the coverage in the back end no for the quarterback to throw the football didn't get the sack obviously you don't get the negative play but you also don't give up a big one you're feeling pretty good about where you are right now in this drive so third and short from inside the 20 you convert here and this drive takes on a different complexion get it out on the screen he's R out of bounds but not before turning in a big and moving the sticks for a first down hey man sometimes you get the perfect play call at the perfect time that time the defense blitzing offensive line allowed everybody to run up field and they slip in the running back screen and behind it there was nobody there to make a tackle and this offense generates a massive play unloads to the wide out got his Man Down field look at that toughness just running through everybody and they were looking for a chunk play and they got it the explosive picks up more than 30 this quarterback has been really good today has been on top of it seeing things really really well that pass right there put him over the 300 yard Mark that's a pretty good day and the Gamecocks racing to the line in the hurry up to the air it's Turner floats it out in space and just a short safe pass play they pick up a few listen running backs are not just running backs anymore you're going to be a wide receiver in today's football and a great job sneaking out of the back field getting the football letting them get some positive yards little bit more to go after that last completion they'll try to pick it up on second down he's looking to throw makes the grab it's cuber they make the stop right there good pickup it's still short of the first down the game Cox are in the Red Zone musling ahead on Third and short tackle was made after the first down well they needed two yards to get that first down that's exactly what they got great job of execution no secret about it just got to be physical get a hat on a hat low man wins all the cliches to get that third down in short and the Gamecock have it with a first and 10 looking to move it through the air and he dropped it it looked for all the world like that would be a catch and he just got to exided oo I don't know guys did he hear footsteps running over the middle of the field where all those Defenders are looking I think that might have got in his head that might have been a reason why he dropped it and the incompletion brings up a second down for this offense unloads quickly headed to the end zone touchdown Jacksonville State and with that one they jump on top here in the second half that's his third touchdown pass of the day the defense has no clue how to respond right now no and the defense has had absolutely no answer he's been on the money he's been on fire making the right decisions and just carving this defense now they'll line up for what they hope is automatic and the extra point puts him up by a field goal so a drive there of 85 yds and they finished it off with a 17 yd touchdown run kickoff team lining up to send this one away he'll start the return inside his SP didn't find any crease in that kickoff coverage and he'll be stopped at the 17 Coastal Carolina has it the Shanta cleer offense headed back to the field comes out throwing on first down finds his man it's Coleman he's brought down solid pick up but a little bit short of the first down I think really good wide receivers do a good job of making every rout kind of looked the same you could tell he this looked like a vertical route so if I'm a DB I'm bailing and all of a sudden he sits that hitch down nice job by the wide receiver create enough separation to create a positive game catch in the middle it's Tucker and he was just a couple of steps away from taking that one even further after the catch and with that one he's now over three bills for the game and there's two reasons why reys he's made good decisions and he's been accurate through throwing the football all game long well look what's happening now old Uncle Mo has hit the transfer portal and is changing Sidelines give to the running back we'll give him a couple on that one second and eight coming up and the defense doing a great job committing to the run when you commit to the run like this obviously you can give up some plays in the passing game but you got to stop the run first time winding down in the quarter as they come to the the [Applause] line looking to pass it's Basco finds a man on the left they get him on the ground and that'll be the final play of this third period and you want to talk about his favorite receiver it might be everybody based on the number of guys getting touches in a chance to show off their hands in the passing game when you're dealing with a deficit like this it's all about somebody stepping up to make a play and you might as well start here in the fourth quarter they'll try the run and they picked up nine on first down it'll bring up second and short [Applause] [Applause] they'll Run play action got his man to the left really nice job there by both guys the throw and the catch to work that defense and get the first down I'll tell you what that's great execution between the QB and receiver they look like they could execute that throw in their sleep quarterback took his steps threw it on time great route by the receiver nice job securing the catch now inside the 20 first and 10 from the 18 what a snag by the defense looking for more room the 40 running inside the 20 and with the interception he'll take it all the way back touchdown game cop just one moment and all of a sudden the Fortune's turn you're in a position where you're about to give up points and now you fli that around and you put points on the board perfectly executed what are you do in an interception first guy blocks the intended everybody else starts to for the wall where the ball's going nice blocking nice interception nice return for the touchdown they'll try to tack one more on their score and the extra point extends the lead to double figures at 10 they're about to kick it away and the defense probably can't wait to get back out there after the pick six here's the return from inside as 10 he was hoping for something a little more Dynamic that they get him on the ground at the 20 Coastal Carolina takes over and here comes the offense RPO complete to open the Drive he make the stop after the catch and still some work to do to pick up that first down this is the moment for this offense to put a drive together it doesn't matter what's happened up to the point of this game but you're trailing right now you've got to put some points up on the board this is where all 11 guys need to be playing together as one kept it on the ground on first down now back to the line dropping back it's Vasco quick completion on the out route he's really close to that first down marker but they stop him just a bit short and these quarterbacks have to really trust their wide receivers that they're going to be disciplined and run to the right route when they're throwing that ball to the outside like that because those Corners are sitting there on the inside and the worst thing that could happen is to miss inside and that quarterback can going the other direction on Third and short the power run here and with that effort they pick up a fresh set of downs they have it at the 34y line well the good news is is you got the first down running it there on second and short but the bad news is you're down by quite a bit here in the fourth quarter and two three four y gains aren't going to get it done you've got to start chucking this thing vertically to get back in the game they're going to ride this running back they can rely on this guy to pick up solid yardage when they needed and he's out to the 43 after the nyd pickup on first down here's second and one he's looking to throw fires to the wide out wide open down field and they'll finally catch up to him but not before a big chunk of yardage is picked up it's so nice as a quarterback when you've got a guy like that working for you in the slot has such a good fi to find the Open Spaces in the defense just makes life so much easier for his quarterback and the shot to clears want to crank the [Applause] tempo the give to the running back from the shotgun gets it inside the 30 down to the 27 a pickup of six hey five to six yards a pop I don't know you guys are really good at math but that usually equals a first down every couple carries so don't forget about the Run game keep them honest pound that rock sixy pickup on first down leaves him with second and four back to throw it's Basco a shot toward the end zone touchdown shot to clear and they add six more to the board with that trip to the house laid in the game and the idence is building if only there's enough time to finish time is ticking but man you gave yourself a chance now now the defense go out do your job we got the moment if you give me the ball back I'm going to win let's go defense Pat unit on the field and with the extra point every little bit counts as they get closer they put together an 81 yd drive and they cap things off with a scoring toss from 27 yds out about to kick it off after punching it in for the touchdown here he comes from inside his own five just never had a chance to shake loose and he'll be brought down at the 24 Jacksonville State has it back in the game Cox will go to work how about that last drive just carved him up in the air David yeah and how about that quarterback you gave him the ball and he delivered the goods great job taking apart the defense Jesse on that last drive he really did David I mean that was a master class in just reading coverage and being accurate they've got it at the 37 it's first and 10 wide receiver coming across in motion from the gun the're running back looking for room really nice stop there from this senior leader yeah and he's shown you a little bit of everything today he shows you why he's a really good back and the lines pave some holes and he's he's right at 99 yards and the way this game's going with the lead he's going to get a few more touches break that sentury Mark and when you do you have a great chance of winning football games looking to throw it's Turner dances away from the heat trying to make magic with his feet picks up the first down and gets down to avoid contact nice job by the QBs sitting back in the pocket you can tell he wants to throw the football go through his progressions nothing home take off and slide I love the slide at the end don't take a big shot the Gamecock come to the line with a fresh set of downs they'll run it from the gun gets it past to marker what a good run there he has enough for the first down man it's so nice to have a guy that you can depend on like this this offense is built around him for a reason just a a good running back you could see gets north south doesn't dance picks up positive yards breaks tackles he's just a really good player and that's why this offense runs through might as well give it to him again knocked down at the 25 yd line picked up 10 there and gets a first down it's a point in the game I think as a coaching staff where you really challenge your offensive line to go win the football game right we've got to lead late we're going to run the football and the defense and everybody in the stadium knows that's what's going to happen can we run the ball down their throats and impose our will that's what this offense right now is trying to Do complete downfield and they make the strike connection and they've got it down to the 13 yd line on Red Zone chance last couple of plays the offense seems to be just one step ahead David yeah and I'm going to have to do something to disrupt the timing the Rhythm I got to do something that they're not expecting because right now they got the run and they got the pass working so this defense they have to find something new to kind of confuse this offense and he is just engulfed at the line by this giant defensive tackle great job contain by this defense and in order to do that the end man on the line of scrimmage defensively has got to be able to set the point and force the football back into traffic that's exactly what happened operating in the Red Zone here on second down from the gun running back gets to give works his way down to the 10 yd line after a pick up of three the terrain gets rough this deep in the Red Zone third down they can't pick up the first without scoring looking for a man it's Turner and it's taken away by the defense and they desperately needed that turnover and he's brought down and this defense gets the ball back for its own man we needed that so bad we needed the football had to get a stop forcing a turnover best case scenario off back on the field trailing in the fourth quarter time to go win it Coastal Carolina has it the Shanta cleer offense headed back to the field they took it down the field for a touchdown the last time they had it and now an opportunity to take the lead in this football game so they got to be feeling good they did their part score defense does your part Jesse this offense keep that momentum I would say stay aggressive here and just keep doing what you're were doing on that last drive right well whatever was working for you just go back keep using those same Playmakers to allow you to go down here and score a touchdown looking for room it's Bennett and they'll stop him after a minimal pick up they're strong and they're strong defensive tack they're strong there're such big jokers in the Middle where they just lock out those offensive linemen and running backs listen they don't have much of a chance when you got that 300 plus pound guy grabbing you around the shoulder pad you tend to go to the ground pretty quickly from the gun the running back has it and they did not let him reach the line gain it'll bring up a decision here the shot to clears will punt this one away they'll look to pin him deep he just wanted to get it out of there from his end zone a fair catch is called for and made just across the 50 yd line guys we'll see what Jacksonville State can get going on o that last Drive was a punch in the gut throwing the pick in the Red Zone Jesse yeah it just seemed like there was some miscommunication down there in the Red Zone David this drive the qban receivers just have to do a better job being on the same page yeah and I think you pull the positives right we moved the football down the field we had a chance to score but we can't let those opportunities slip between our hands let's go get some points kept it on the ground on first down see if they stick with that plan on second he leaves it with his back that's what you expect from a senior don't give them any extra yards great tackle there here on third down will they go back to the running game quickly complete just what they' hoped for on third down as they've got a first at the 32 boy the defense really needed to get off the field there and they just couldn't do it and it's a fresh set of downs man that hurts when you're trailing late in the ball game you need those stops and you get them to third down you get them to those critical points now they get the first down you don't have many left you better get aggressive finds the tight end and good coverage by the defense just a short game this tight end just creates matchup problems no matter how you try to defend how about the catch radius on him too so as a quarterback you don't have to be perfect when throwing it to him just got to get it somewhere in his vicinity and he can come up with the catch off play action throws to the wide out and that's going to fall to the ground incomplete that was a physical match up there third down coming and now let's see if the offense can itself out after the second down missfire grabbed over the middle it's brown he knew exactly where he wanted to go with that one and they've got enough for the first down he has been the go-to guy on offense all game long and under critical third down here in the fourth quarter surprise surprise guess who they go to that guy and the Gamecock look to keep this drive humming they'll try to keep this clock moving on the ground they make the Stop and they give up five yard on the run it's down to the 11 and this is a perfect situation this is a situation if you asked me to be in before the game the coaches would have been in heaven I got the football I got the lead on their side of the field nice gain on first down same exact script do it again run the football run the clock let that thing tick down and if we add points we add touch game Cs and they take it in for six more points and this receiver is on fire he's got all the skills that you look for in a big time Target that's already his second touchdown of the game lining up to tack one more onto that lead and the extra point extends the lead to double figures at 10 about to kick it away after scoring the [Applause] touchdown on the move from inside is five he was hoping for something a little more Dynamic but they get him on the ground at the 20 Coastal Carolina takes over and here comes the offense boy three and out last time David they'd like to be more productive this time around yeah in the last Drive nothing really clicked no rhythm got off the field really really quickly they need to put something together here Palmer David bad execution on that last drive so they got to take a collective breath and start playing like a unit on this drive and the shot to clear has come to the line in the hurry up back to pass it's Vasco right down the middle all kinds of room to throw that one in there he gets it to the 31 yd line a big play for this offense and this is sort of like a pinball machine the numbers keep tick tick ticking up he's closing in on 450 yards yeah Reese and there's no defense for perfect throws and that's what this guy's been delivering all game long you know the coverage hasn't always been awful but this guy just finds a way to thread the needle wants to throw on first down gets it out fast he's run out of bounds but a big play on that one and it'll be a first down out routes are very much about timing that you got it's got to be a quick decisive movement from the quarterback as soon as he sticks that foot in the ground you know he's breaking out throw it right now so he can go make you a play great pitch great catch the shot that clears will have it first and 10 they'll throw it from the Red Zone intercepted you can't give points away when you're a QB you have to understand I got to be aggressive and it's in the red really tight Windows man the one thing I cannot do is turn the football over I got to make sure I get points really poor decision great play by the [Music] defense Jacksonville State has it back and the game Co will go to work with Jet Sweep pass pass the first down marker and still running and they're getting it rolling with that play to the 42 yd line this defense really needs to be careful and they have to play with great eye discipline understanding where the football is at all times moving forward they have got to know if this guy has the ball because he is dangerous in space that last play is the kind of thing the offense can really build some momentum on and now they've got it first and 10 inside the 40 quick pass on the jet motion a strong tackle and wrap up from the junior timeout called there by the defense desperate to get the ball back and save as much time as possible you got to believe they just want to run it take care of the football and keep that clock moving on second and nine from the shotgun now here's an inside GI defense uses a timeout quickly trying to get that ball back and preserve time for their offense and you know when we talk about great third down defenses it really starts with them getting stops on first and second down you've got to get those stops early in the drives to set up third and long so that's a missed opportunity on that second down by this defense across the 25 touchdown Jacksonville State and they'll put that scoreboard operator to work and put six on the board and you know late in the games offenses sometimes get conservative when they got the lead and they got the ball I love this offense they were aggressive they got another score added to the lead now you're trying to Salt this game [Music] away ready to try the point after and that extra point is a big one they now have a thre possession 17-point lead in the fourth lining up to cover the kick after that touchdown [Applause] Drive looking for an alley from inside his own 10 nice job executing all of the assignments as they put a stop to that return at the 22 Coastal Carolina has it the Shanta cleer offense headed back to the field gets it out quickly and they pick up just a few on that completion well and here's the problem offensively because you're trailing by so much so late in the game the defense now is going to be playing big Zone coverages and they're going to allow you to throw the ball underneath in the middle of the field rally to make a tackle and bleed the clock it's going to be hard now for this offense to claw their way back in this one looking downfield it's Basco receiver it in it's complete and he's knocked down immediately but not before he moves the chains he is having a day already visited the end zone three times and he might get back there again soon David I mean just crazy he he's getting open they haven't had an answer for him you think at some point you go all right he's not going to beat me anymore but the defense continues to give up yards and he is like yes please unloads to the white out got him down field they'll get him down but not before he crosses the 50 he's down to the 49 you know the defense doesn't have an answer for this slot guy right now they may want to think about bracketing him having a Defender play to the outside and to the inside probably some sort of Zone coverage where you're trying to get two bodies forcing the quarterback to have to go somewhere else with the ball and they'll spike the ball to try to save as much time as they can and here comes the offense on second down he's looking to throw he uncor one deep what a spectacular grab there as they try to finish this game with a little something to feel good about touchdown coal hauled it in and just kept right on running to the half Hallelujah l and a nice touchdown continuing to fight continuing to play this one it's pretty much over down multiple possessions this late in the football game it would take a miracle but nice job by this offense continuing to fight push the ball down the field make plays getting set for the point after and the Pat will draw them one point closer a very efficient five playay scoring drive and they finished the drive with a touchdown toss from the 49 time is against them still down by two scores but they'll line up for the onside kick few anxious moments there but the hands team true to its name as they make the grab and get the ball running out the clock a mere formality between them and a victory as we have Victory formation coming quarterback will take a KNE the defense can stop it one more time but we are close to be in all she wrote e for e e e e e e e for e e for
