Aaron roders and the Jets taking on the 49ers oh Rogers back in his hometown big oh no Christian mcaffrey oh that started well for the Jets and here's Aaron's first ever completion Dominique as a jet to Garrett Wilson yeah they find a nice man-to-man match up but you notice that's a tough window tight window throw Garrett makes a great play right there it's encouraging but we saw a lot of tight window throws for Aaron tonight this one drive was the best Jets moment in a decade that this was a 14 yard gain on a third and seven and suddenly it looked like they had it going and then Bree Hall finding the only hole he would have all night long takes it in for a touchdown the Jets have a 73 lead Aaron says to Garrett Wilson hey five it's going to be like this all night all night long he was dead wrong about that second quarter Jeff Saturday Jordan Mason look at the Gap he had to run through right there like the Red Sea parted a thing of beauty just walk it up there for 10 two plays later on a second and 19 Jaan Jennings is is so ridiculously open I don't have an adjective for it how does that happen I mean you see at least they got pressure no wa oh man that is dirty first and goal that's Debo taking it in the ners taking a lead they would not relinquish they would actually have the ball for about an hour and a half real time then we got Brock pie we got Kyle YC dwood why is he this open you know what a couple plays before that he was wide open on the sideline and and the great coaches come back back to it found him wide open on the sideline the Jets coaches didn't seem to be aware of it n that's Mason punching he had 28 carries 100 see that just go back and watch that play on Loop for you right there you want to break your own heart just go watch that play he had 147 yards then what happens here that's a tip and that's Rogers first pick Jeff tis it's the same thing tight window throws you're not going to always get lucky you're not always going to have success sometimes you get unlucky with a great defensive play turn to a turnover ners up 26 not look happy meanwhile now he's got a free play here Aaron Rogers throws his 18th career touchdown on a free play and that one is vintage Aaron Rogers there's not a quarterback in history that we've seen this happen to more often yeah Al Lazar chose to catch that one and so it's 2613 that was rogers's first touchdown as a jet then an incomplete pass on a fourth down and that's all she wrote 49ers dominate 3219 the final after here's Aaron we expect uh greatness when we step on the field um there were moments for sure moments it felt really good but not sustained you I think a lot of stuff's correctable which is great for coaches frustrating for for players because we know how close we were SLR but no time for that we're going to move on to Tennessee quickly and then we got a game four days after that so tough opener for us travel-wise and schedule wise no excuses we got to play better I got to play better you know we'll bounce back they whed today and and that's the reality of it and um we got to find a way to get better you know the great teams will bounce back from this and that's what we plan to do we'll be better 100% like I'm I'm not worried I me give like I said give San Francisco a lot of credit I'm not worried offensively I'm not worried defensively we'll um we'll get we'll get it fixed oh I feel so much better now I'm so relieved I was really concerned about that game last night dwood but then Robert Sala tells me he's not worried about the offense and he's not worried about the defense even though they both looked absolutely atrocious last night so I just feel so much better now that I've heard that hold up before we start with with I just want I just wanted this to be said too this is the guy after BC put a beat down on somebody he was feeling himself wanted the 49ers at full strength they ran for a buck 80 without the best player the number one pick in most fantasy drafts was watching hey man get him full strength wood that's my man floor is yours you know what I blame you greeny I blame you because you were adamant on me being here on Tuesday yeah because you just felt in your soul that we were going to it was going to be a joyous occasion maybe you jinxed this whole thing is is that what happened here I like I I just listen just getting back to the game um no don't bother I was preferring it when you made fun of me all right now let's try and be serious here for a moment because I don't know we're a real show uh Aaron Rogers let's start with that we will do this in some sort of organized fashion Aaron Rogers is the most important from the Jets perspective the 49ers look like the best team in the NFL last night and we will get to them in a minute but this was Aaron Rogers return after 500 and something days yeah what did we see from him last night starting with dwood I listen I I actually was encouraged considering the fact that Aaron Rogers hadn't played in in a competitive game since 2022 was he Rusty yes did he look a little you know sluggish yes but that's to be expected when you haven't faced you know what we call live bullets in in that amount of time I think Aaron roders is only going to get better from here you saw some vintage Aaron Rogers play particularly the couple throws to to Alan Lazard and and the touchdown that's Aaron roders that that's him over his career but greedy at the end of the day Aaron Rogers didn't have enough possessions the 49ers dominated time of possession ran rough shot all over this defense so it's hard to get that that good of a gauge on eron Rogers when he wasn't on the field that much yeah it was actually the lowest or smallest whatever the term is time of possession that Aaron Rogers has ever had in his 225 career starts and I would agree with this from this point the velocity of his arm all that was good like you saw I mean that that's not going to go away for Aaron Rogers the issue was you got Bosa and Floyd putting pressure on them the offensive line got put together they looked off and out of sorts so Rogers looked a little happy fetish right like he's moving out of the pocket he's not really set delivering the ball you can tell a difference in Aaron Rogers when he's just standing in and delivering the ball but he's not going to be the Aaron Rogers back in the day in Green Bay where he can go scramble and pick up 1450 yards so he was playing from the pocket more he will not be the Jets problem though make no mistake he's not going to be there I mean the premise of us any of us who thought that the Jets were going to be good the premise was that defense was going to be dominant and you're not going to have to ask Aaron Rogers to do too much they asked him to do a lot last night and he's not going to be able to do that and the one of the difficulties about having Aaron Rogers and when you bring him in the way that the Jets did is you seed a lot of power and decision- making over to him and he likes a pretty stagnant straightforward offense my arm and my decision- making is going to be good enough to overcome it wasn't last night and I agree time possession is somewhat on their defense ability to stop the opposing offense but time possession also comes with converting third downs and they had a hard time with converting some of those third Downs in the early portion of the game because Aaron Rogers sets them up we're going to use our formation to get them to declare man or Zone if they're in zone we'll spread them out and then we'll pick them apart the problem with spreading them out is Nick Bosa right there and they couldn't slow him down if they're in man we're going to make these tight window throws it worked to Garrett Wilson in the first half then you keep trying tight window throws sooner or later good defenses are going to make plays and that's not a recipe to beat good teams they're going to knock off some bad teams they're going to be competitive with okay teams but if they want to win a championship they're going to have to get more sophisticated with their offensive game planning yeah see I'm confused cuz I was told by a lot of very smart NFL analysts that work for this network that the Jets defense was Elite and that the offensive line was fixed and that they had all this and it was just add quarterback and everything will be fine I don't think that's how it works and I think what you know the whole highlight Dominique's talking about tight window throws yeah Aaron Rogers best there ever was at the tight window throw but it's a heck of a tough way to live and you're watching on the other side the 49ers with the best play caller and play designer in the league in an offense that more than half the league is running right now what are they doing on every single play they're getting Guys open and if you can't design an offense that gets Guys open in this day and age you're going to be at a disadvantage so they have to make some fixes on that side of the ball the defense my goodness I mean like like that should be okay who had a better night than Hassan reck sitting at home watching a defense unable to stop the 49 I couldn't help I couldn't help this morning waking up hoping that Hassan reck was going to do a Stephen a laughing video just wake up look here's the thing right like the team they played last night was in the Super Bowl last year the Jets are still theoretically a Super Bowl Contender what we saw the other last night was an actual Super Bowl Contender and I think a reminder for everybody a lot of season left could still be okay but you can't just expect to all of a sudden out of nowhere be a team that never makes the playoffs and all of a sudden be a Super Bowl Contender there's a lot of work that goes I I agree with that here's the here's the breath of fresh air for the Jets fans though Salah was with was with Shanahan so Shanahan knows all the weaknesses of his defense right and he exploited he exploited everything about if you looked at the design the Run game design for San Fran last it could not have been this I mean the amount of of touched before I mean after the line of scrimmage for for this young kid is insane I mean when you run for a 180 yards it's not because the defensive line is getting you know getting pressure or or putting any there was no emphasis for that you think about Mason's ability right here this this goal line play y'all you're three yards outside everybody in the building is near the line of scrimmage you see one safety in the middle of the field he gets touched as he's walking into the end zone this is angles this is tight end and receiver blocking down the two Edge or the backside guarden tackle are basically turning Trent Wiz nobody has to move anybody that is design that is a well executed game plan that played into the hands and so the Jets aren't going to get exploited like this every week they they run into a buzz saw last night and it only got worse so I I I turned to the two gentlemen on this side of the table because both of you played on the line of scrimmage I I'm not an expert I'm just a fan who's watched the game all my life if I if someone were to watch that game and say the reason the 49ers won more than anything else as great a coach as Shanahan is and all the rest of it is that on both sides of the ball they dominated the line of scrimmage the Jets couldn't run the ball at all Bree Hall had nowhere to go the Jets offensive line was thoroughly dominated by the 49er defense and the Jets defensive front which has been at times now they gutted it to go out and acquire Hassan reic who as you said was probably last night on that yak laughing his behind off watching as the Jets defense looked just atrocious but the reality is this the game is decided on the line of scrimmage and the ners dominated it on both sides would that be an accurate appraisal of what happened absolutely absolutely they they dominated in the but I will say this that is something you can get fixed yes that is something you can get fixed it's early in the season the 49ers or listen they're the defender NFC champions they they're a championship ball club and they showed it last night and so if you the if you're the jet obviously you want to hang your head on we got a defense that that's going to hold teams down a quarterback that's going to be able to make our our offense confident they just got to fix the run defense that was the that was the gist of the game last night they got gashed by the 49ers in the trenches you can fix that you can fix that I I will say I am more concerned about the Jets o line than I am their dline I think their dline will fix I think Sol I think he can fix that side of the ball they have proven they would have to go through an entire season for me to believe they're not as good their offensive line to me look slow even early like inside Zone to the left and the backside tackle can't even get a get his hat that is a scary place to be cuz listen y'all said it I think on Monday a 40-year-old quarterbacks don't get healthier old older offensive linemen don't either bro and you're asking them to do things physically that are difficult anyway those backside cut that to me was concerning I'll say this about them getting dominated up front you guys keep saying it can be fixed and maybe it can be but and you tried to put the coaching aside as if it does not matter right I would say part of the reason why they dominated is because Kyle Shanahan approaches the offensive line the same way other coaches approach skill players I know my guy does this well we're going to find a way to get in a position to get in this angle that he likes to get him this block that he prefers we saw over and over again that these guys had perfect angles where they would start the motion in that touchdown they start the motion to the front side it's a designed cut back and so all the D linemen are trying to get over the top to get to the front side of the play and then they start coming back and kdo and Debo waiting for them to come back and the line already has the angle so while they did get beat down it's not because they're soft it's not because they're not tough It's because they are getting out schemed and the answer to that they didn't have one all night long look at these plays these are not hard blocks to make no disrespect great lineman but some so many of these plays are not hard blocks to make and I think that was the story of the night back to the receivers so many of the passes caught by the 49ers big windows so many passes caught by uh the Jets tight window throws you just have to rely on your I love when you talk o line to be clear it be excting for real if I understand what you're saying you're telling me Kyle Shanahan out coached Robert Salah and Nathaniel Hackett last night which would have to qualify as one of the least surprising things that is that will happen in the NFL all season long so that that's what we saw last night Graziano yes or no yeah I mean yes look Kyle shanan was ready for that game they had their guys other than mcaffry they had their guys back right Trent Williams Brandon auk it was it was sort of the best the 49ers had felt about their team in a while because they had this mess of an off season uh and they were ready Robert Salah is a former Kyle Shanahan assistant coach like he he know he probably knows how to coach against him we see that very often in the league the the former assistant doesn't do well against the head coach the 49ers are great like that's not that's not the problem like the Jets you could have I I actually did pick the Jets but but obviously like the 49ers I think were favored in the game and for good reason were the point is if you are the Jets and you go out and get Aaron roders you are not trying to win a wild card spot you're not trying to finish second in your division you want to be a team that can compete with the likes of the San Francisco 49ers and try and win a championship and I think last night week one long way to go shows you you have work to do yeah but but I think patience is is important here because they win seven games like with some awful QB play they're going to win games like you can't panic because they get beat by one of the best teams in the NFL the way they did they will figure it out you just got to you have to have some patience
