Douglas Murray rips into The View over ‘softball’ Kamala interview

joining me now is bestselling author of groundbreaking books including his latest the war on the West Douglas Murray we finally have a Camala Harris interview today CNN announced that she will be sitting down with Dana Bush but the interview is not live and she will have Tim Walls joining her uh can we trust CNN to ask the tough questions and also not edit out the uh word salads we've come to expect from Harris uh we'll see um I think it's a fascinating uh thing that the Democrat nominee for president is actually going to Dain to answer any questions from the Press um of course Joe Biden has given fewer press conferences during his time in office than any president uh of recent decades uh and it looked like K Harris was trying to beat him to that record if no other uh the fact that she's doing with her running mate Tim wals uh is extraord ordinarily interesting and I'll tell you why it's for this reason we don't know any details of what camel Harris would like to do or intends to do if she gets the most important job in the world in November uh we don't know what her fiscal policies are going to be what her trade policies are going to be we don't know have any detail what her border and immigration policies are going to be and we don't have any uh knowledge at all of what her foreign policy uh is going to to be and the problem uh of Tim wal or indeed CA Harris appearing with one without the other is that the other may say things which their running mate doesn't know or hasn't heard about and that'll be because they're making it up on the fly so if you were to have a sit down just with Tim walz and say now look do you agree with everything in C Harris's uh foreign policy he might uh have to reveal the fact that there is no foreign policy and might just make some stuff up then of course the Press would say to her if they ever get a chance to sit down with her again and as I say um it seems to some extent unlikely that she does ever want to sit down with the media they would say to her well Tim wal said this about your foreign policy and and then she'd have to try to make something up on the fly as well so it's very clever uh of them to decide to sit down together because uh that way they can contradict each other but less well there is also this transformation of Harris from a staunch leftist who had the most liberal voting record in the Senate to this tough Law and Order Pro America figure um she's now claiming she doesn't support a fracking ban despite in the past saying she' bring one in on day one she's uh backing away from Electric Vehicle mandates and she's suddenly in favor of a border wall Douglas should be wearing a Maga hat soon uh it's very interesting of course she wouldn't be the first politician to promise absolutely everything and uh say contradictory things uh in the run up to trying to get everyone's vote in November but the interesting thing about camela Harris is is is less the contradictions uh than her what Basic Instincts she seems to have had about politics as she's expressed them in the past this claim that she's now in favor of a border wall uh doesn't seem to me to be uh uh flip-flopping it does seem to me to be absolutely typical uh election season um pandering but what's more interesting is what she said about the border wall uh any time before when she's been questioned about it uh I just watched back uh uh earlier today one of her um appearances on The View um a um how can I describe the view to non-americans uh it's like Britain's loose women but less cerebral um it's um it's like uh I mean it's it's a very it's a very unfunny funny light daytime show and so of course she presented herself to these fans of hers on the panel to ask her softball questions some years ago and on that occasion K Harris said uh in one of those jokes that no one else finds a joke but she finds absolutely hysterical that she says uh there that she's very interested in and has dealt with international criminal bodies and in uh and in going after those people she found that uh the interesting thing about International uh groups is that they operate internationally and she found that absolutely hysterically funny and laughed like mad um for ages but the point is that she said and she said in that interview said well interview in that softball thing she said the border wall wouldn't stop these International gangs and then laughed manically well the thing is is that everything she tried to say and that interview was borders and walls don't matter that they don't do anything well if that is her view and it seems to have been her view until yesterday um that seems to me to be a fairly settled view she thinks that that that it isn't doesn't really matter if you have a border or a border wall um because of international things um so I don't really buy this late conversion to a wall at all no I think they must have some sort of internal polling that is alarming them particularly about the big issues like illegal immigration in the US so yeah we're seeing this about face uh just quickly I want to ask you about Donald Trump winning the endorsement of former Democrat Tulsi gabbard who famously ended kamala's last run for president uh she's also helping him prepare for the debate with Harris um how crucial is the upcoming debate and who has more to lose um well of course if the polls some of the polls are correct and C Harris is ahead then the sense would be that she had more to lose uh tulsy gabard being brought on board by Trump is very interesting because as I say car Harris has put herself forward for so few interviews and so little scrutiny uh aside as I say from the Geniuses of the view um that that actually Tulsi gab is is particularly useful because because because she was running against uh Harris some years ago in the primaries she's one of the few people who's actually uh been against Harris on a stage and demonstrated very effectively how to take Harris down by using uh what we used to call facts now if Tulsa gabard can uh can help Trump to find a way through she's actually probably the best qualified person to do so as I say because she's one of the very few people who's actually actually gone up against Harris otherwise uh um I mean nobody knows knows really what to do against her because just no one has had a chance true now let's talk about the extraordinary Rescue of a hostage held by Hamas since October 7 CED farahan aladi was one of eight Arab bedwin Israelis abducted on October 7 and was rescued from a tunnel in what the Israeli military are calling a complex operation in the southern Gaza Strip there were joyous scenes as he and his family uh were you reunited in hospital the the family were running to his bedside after hearing news of his rescue uh Douglas those who say Israel is a apartheid state really need to explain to us how the whole country is celebrating the rescue of an Arab Muslim bedwin well first of all I mean it's just wonderful and remarkable news uh as the months of gone on and on there's been so much fear about uh the well-being or even whe whether the hostages like him are alive and it's so heartening uh to every Israeli and everyone outside who cares about about human life that that that this um this man should have been saved as you mention I mean it's a bad day for the Israel apartheid uh Lobby um because they have to explain as we're seeing in the pictures there how a Muslim bedan father uh can be surrounded by his children at his uh bedside being treated by an Orthodox Jewish doctor in this allegedly aparti State um uh so so yes I mean it's it's it's a it's a wonderful thing in itself wonderful to see him home and reunited with his family and obviously everyone hopes that the rest of the hostages will be able to have the same uh Happy conclusion to their appalling uh treatment by Hamas uh but yes it's it's a bad day for all those people who want to continue to lie about Israel and who who pretend that the society is something that it just isn't and uh you know Israel is a society where Muslims Jews Christians and others all have equal rights and Hamas of course wants to take away every one of those rights and has done everything it can to do so and we saw in some of that footage uh him um taking a call from Benjamin Netanyahu uh whilst in in on his hospital bed so uh some rare good news in that region today now I want to ask you about K Dharma he's still railing against uh what he calls right-wing extremism let's have a listen a Mindless minority of thugs who thought that they could get away with causing chaos smashing up communities and terrifying minorities vandalizing and destroying people's property Douglas we've seemed to have heard very little condemnation of the lawlessness and violence in the noting Hill Carnival that just took place there were 334 arrests eight people stabbed and the media too were at pains to uh paint this Mayhem as as mostly peaceful and enjoyable day have a quick look at this uh clip from Sky News UK and they said a man believed to be in his 20s has been stabbed his injuries are not lifethreatening but overall it's been a really peaceful and enjoyable day Douglas this is not the first time there has been trouble at the Notting Hill Carnival but um I'm perplexed not much condemnation from the political class and even the authorities though they've made a lot of arrests uh AR exactly naming and shaming the uh those who have uh been charged with offenses no I mean I mean there's only one way way to really understand this and this astonishing double standard which is the Notting Hill Carnival is one of the holy days of diversity obsessed Britain and you're not allowed to in any way insult or blaspheme the holy places on this holiest of days um the nting hill Carnival every year has stabbings and uh break-ins and and outbreaks of lawlessness and police officers are molested by so-called Carnival goers and the police just stand around and get molested and it happened again this year um if of course I mean if this was a non holy day in the diversity can uh calendar and it was white Working Class People who are of course all far-right racists now of course uh if it was white workingclass people it would be a totally different story but no this is one of the great holy days of diversity and so so they Sky new news went there in the same uh way that CNN famously did during the George Floyd riots into the uh area of mostly peaceful violent protests you know and the city behind you can be burning down but it's a mostly peaceful burning down and on this occasion you know yes a parent was stabbed pushing their child in a pram but it was a mostly peaceful stabbing you see because it was all about diversity and as we all know diversity is our strength always uh before you go uh I want to ask you about Mark Zuckerberg he's admitted that meta that's Facebook and Instagram were pressured by the Biden Harris uh Administration to censor covid-19 content that they wrongly claimed was disinformation the timing of all this is very interesting what do you make of Zuckerberg's uh about face here cuz they seem to be quite happy with uh the censorship and the suppression of news uh but is he perhaps fearing a second Trump term and what that could mean for meta it's interesting I mean it's one of those sort of stories where sort of years later after everyone knew something somebody admits that the thing everyone else knew uh was true I mean everybody saw in real time uh what happened uh with Facebook and other platforms uh in relation to covid misinformation and of course misinformation and disinformation uh turned out to be things that uh that uh you know weren't wanted to be uttered on social media by the governments it was an extraordinary overreach as it was in the case of the hunter Biden story which Mark Zuckerberg also mentioned uh uh his platforms have been told not to run because it was disinformation only for us you know all to find out very shortly afterward that actually it's far from disinformation the laptop was true the New York Post knew that anyone reading the New York Post knew that um mark Zuckerberg and his um clever uh you know employees Facebook and things uh however didn't seem to know that uh but they've realized it four years later Rita so I'd imagine we can look forward uh to sometime in 2027 or 2028 Mark Zuckerberg uh telling us that for instance uh Joe Biden wasn't an entirely fit candidate for run to run for a second term as president and they've just just realized it and uh they they're sorry that they helped cover up and say that all that stuff was fake news it turns out actually the news was true but thank you for the apology four years later we can look forward to this only about only about you know only the uh the greatest social media Platforms in the planet zinging information to us uh at the Press of a button uh only they uh can be found to have about a 4-year uh uh wait time to catch up with everyone else it's wonderful yeah yes and just thank God they're not in any way political particularly meta it's not like the uh Zuckerberg uh donated $400 million of his own money in 2020 to help uh fortify that election uh Douglas Murray thank you so much
