Let's Talk About Megumi | JJK 268

spoilers for jjk 268 but I want to talk more about this ending and why I liked it and if Megami might have Shrine now so in my last video I talked about why I like chapter 268 and specifically why I liked the end of this suca battle because I thought it was really poetic that gay had tied together all of these themes and narratives he'd been building across the entire manga but specifically I talked about that through the lens of yuji's character development how he was a stark contrast in foil to suguna and watch that video If you want to hear me Yap about that but something I didn't mention in that video is how Megami also played a vital role in that and I thought his character growth was beautiful again especially as a foil to everything that sua represented because again he is the epitome of selfishness right throw everything away in the pursuit of your own ideals your own desires and he reached the tippy top of society of jiujitsu by following that right which is why he looked down upon everyone else in his mind he had found the secret he knew had to live because might makes right and he had never been beaten right but now he has been beaten he has lost not only the battle but the ideological battle as well and again I already talked about through that uh about that through the lens of Yuji but Megami is also a prime example because megami's entire thing was deciding to live for other people that's what caused him to finally fight back and he even admits it in his little monologue to sua saying you know what there's a ton of people in the world and I know that might sound obvious but I am going going to live for them instead of myself Megami couldn't be compelled to fight back to want to have a will to live for himself because he'd lost too much he had nothing really worth Clinging On to in that regard but he decided you know what I'll fight back for you Yuji for you nobra for you you know everyone right so I thought that was just beautiful suguna is not only defeated By Yuji who represents all of those things but also in tandem with Megami who has also chosen the selfless option and together they bring him down I just think this is extremely poetic and Beautiful from this kid who largely didn't have agency in the direction of his own life throughout his entire life right I mean from the moment he was born his fate was kind of decided as the Crown Jewel of the zinan clan I mean he was literally going to be sold to them by toi right to be trained and you know groomed essentially his role had been pred decided right but Gojo did kind of save him from that as did toi right and Gojo specifically being the one is also very poetic as the six siiz Limitless user who was similarly raised and groomed to be the clan head and you know the um this weapon right uh and while Gojo did protect him from that somewhat uh megami's life was still kind of predetermined right he fulfilled his role as a Jujutsu Sorcerer And then this uh being stripped of his own agency is taken to like the utmost extreme when his body is literally robbed by sua right and he is forced to commit the most most heinous of Acts killing his sister killing his surrogate father um it's no wonder why he had completely given up right this kid who really didn't have a say in his own life and you know it's not that he decides to you know pull himself up by the bootstraps and really fight back that saves him no it's his own selfless decision to say that you know what even though I do want to give up I can live for other people a true act of selflessness again to just completely foil everything super stands for and I touched on this a little bit in my previous video but I just absolutely love this tandem of moments this metaphorical onew punch from Yuji and Megami rejecting their roles rejecting what they are supposed to do and instead choosing the selfless compassionate Impe route instead and that being what led to sua's downfall because he could never predict that that would actually happen because he doesn't see the strengthen it right and in yuji's case um like I said I touched on it a little bit but I just want to bring it up again the fact that even after he had Suk a dead to rights he still said like you can join me like you can go on and live in me because I understand why you are the way you are you know not that he knows the reasons per se but he just understands that that could have been his story as well if not for his grandpa so even in spite of everything Yugi was still willing to make that selfless act of giving Suk a mercy one last time but anyways yeah I'm finding myself appreciating this chapter even more and more as time goes on and yeah I know know people have their complaints and everyone's open to their opinion but I do think that especially given some more time I think people will look back and appreciate this more especially on the whole aside of just like an isolated chapter which I know a lot of people have talked about this so I won't give the same speech but you know I feel like a lot of people's experience is shaded by kind of the week to week leaks you know hype release schedule situation and I think especially if you can take a a step back um you may appreciate this a bit more but in addition to that I have gotten some meami specific questions so I'm going to run through those as well and this first one comes from Sonic vids who says what's up with look what looks like to be scars on meami they seem to be in the same position as suca second eyes but there's another one on his cheek so here's the visual aid again just for anybody that didn't notice but yeah I love these cars I think they're absolutely badass and you're correct I think these are representative of sua's eyes due to that transformation because these very much look like suk's you know big old mask type eyes and then this one on his cheek I think is also representative of an eye it's just his other eye on below his normal one so yeah I guess it's just kind of you know kind of from the trauma from the literal scarring of that experience next up amnesia says do you think that Megami briefly using tin Shadows on sua after Yuji reached him is meant to parallel the kinaku choke scene in shabuya and personally no I don't really see the parallel there um I get where you're coming from of course but I just don't think since those circumstances weren't really the same you know Megami was in there he was just like in in the depths and had given up right and decided to fight back whereas ghetto we weren't even really aware that he was still in there right that was just kind of like an instinctual reaction type of thing I think what Megami did was more an intentional active choice I do however think it was paralleling this moment as you can see here where Gojo gets caught off guard by the shadow after he black flashes sua and knocks him out and mahara steps out it's basically like the exact same pose and then these next three I'm going to talk about all at the same time because they're all dancing around the same subject but just startup top here from uh DeQuan he says do you think Megami can potentially learn Shrine since Suk used it repeatedly in his body and even got the world cutting slash while he was in there Yuji got it from sug using way less in his body and then from rakem how strong do you think Megami is after the time Skip and do you think he can still use the tin shadows and Shrine and then finally from Brooklyn how strong will divine dog totality be now so let's start with these top two about this idea of could Megami get access to Shrine the same way Yuji did now I actually did talk about this before but it was a long time ago so I'm going to give it a little refresher here um but I may have gone more in depth in that video so potentially check it out if you want but I think it's possible because um like DeQuan mentions up here uh meami has had basically way more exposure to Shrine compared to Yuji right uh suguna was in control of yuji's excuse me megami's body far longer than he was ever in control of Megami and yet Yuji got access to the shrine right so we don't know exactly how that process works is it a factor of just purely time is it a factor of exposure or strength of exposure but I think you could make a lot of cases that Megami should likely get it since yui got it however there's one big caveat to that and that is the fact that Yuji didn't have a curse technique to begin with so it's at least possible that Yuji was kind of like a blank slate that you could etch a curse technique on but 's case it might be well he already has 10 Shadows so you can't overwrite that if that makes sense now I'm not saying I know the answer to which scenario it is maybe meami could now have two curse techniques or maybe he just couldn't get Shrine since he already had 10 Shadows but it's definitely possible for him to have Shrine and even if he doesn't have Shrine he still should probably be like way more powerful now just because of the presence of sua's special great jiujitsu in his body that was the reason that we were given for why Yuji has been such a prodigy in the form of jiujitsu why he has been able to pick up things so quickly it's because his body has been used to that like let's just call it aura or Talent from suca so again just the exposure level that Megami has had now should certainly give him a boost regardless of if he actually gets the technique or not now can he still use the 10 Shadows yes I think absolutely the only question becomes like which shikami does he actually have access to now my best guess would be that whatever happened in suk's body is now true of Megami meaning mahara is gone um you know several other shikigami are gone so Megami will only be able to use what he has left but he will be able to use totalities which takes us down to Brooklyn's question here so the Divine totality the Divine dog totality should be insane assuming he could probably put mahara in it along with everything else right so yeah I think potential man has definitely become an enormous problem
