what up everybody that's I am your host JP this is not and this is my co-host Josh okay we're not a crime we're not a crime podcast man this is my co-host Josh hi everyone welcome back to another episode of the film Bros [Music] podcast that's my inner monologue voice that was lame that's what you hear in your head man [ __ ] yeah when I be when I be talking bro when I be talking that's what I be hearing I'm just like unfortunate because that sounded terrible outside I can only imagine what it's like inside I could jump this this chair and choke you out right now yeah no no no no doesn't work damn not even threatening damn I'm going to try it back I'm I'm going to go back to the drawing board with this my inner my inner monologue isn't inner monologuing it's not good it's just gonna be like it sounds like a smoker threatening you and you can't take him seriously because I mean you just hit him in the lungs I'm just gonna have an asthmatic attack um but if you guys don't know what we're talking about yet you guys will soon um we watched the movie okay we watched the movie that is fairly new and actually happy December everybody we're close to Christmas um I think by the time you guys are listening to this I think we're in the beginning of December the year is almost up almost 2024 we're we're getting there we're getting there I feel like this year went by really quick yeah yeah it all kind of just flew by huh that's crazy it really did it's weird it's been a good year for us here at the film Bros podcast and having these you know movies to review and having these conversations has been fruitful but with this movie I don't feel like there's you know I don't want to preface this this episode by saying like we're we're gonna have a short episode but it's just with this movie though there is conversation to be had it's kind of yeah it's kind of straightforward you kind of know what you're going to get yeah uh by the end of it there may be some questions maybe you might want to see him again maybe you never want to see a movie like this ever again who knows we're going to dig into it we're going to find out Josh if you want to let the audience know what we are reviewing today the killer 2023 I find music a useful distraction a focused tool keeps the inner voice from wandering this is what it takes my process is purely logistical if I'm effective it's because of one simple fact I don't give a [Music] [ __ ] for what it's worth I would never have involved your female friend forbid empathy please trust no one fight only the battle you're paid to fight breathe breathe calm prepare to be excited this is what it takes if you want to succeed the killer just came out uh a couple weeks ago it stars Michael fast Bender as the killer the Assassin of the movie uh Tilda Swinton as the expert Charles Parnell the lawyer um Carrie Ali as the lores um arist Howard as the client etc etc we get a long list of casts that we really don't give a [ __ ] about this movie doesn't really make you give a [ __ ] about him right um unless you actually feel for a couple of these guys not because of the fact that you care about their character but because you know potentially where the results going to end up by the end of the encounter um we got a pretty decent score I got a 86% on the Tomato Meter from Rotten Tomatoes certified fresh with a 59% audience score with a popcorn bucket spilt over yeah fair not fair um I don't think that's right well no but I mean General audiences I'm sure it's a mixed bag you you think this movie wouldn't sit well with General audiences yeah most likely that's what I'm assuming why why would you say that I mean not I mean it's kind of a big Point later on but I think just because of how slow it can be okay I think I mean maybe it's because we're spoiled or people are spoiled when they see something like this they probably expect you know like a lot of John Wick [ __ ] going on seven all that yeah but that's not that's not what he is he's just a normal guy which goes down further into the conversation but but I think that's probably why okay they see something like this expect a lot of hard-hitting moments and then they just they probably just won't get that I think you're right I think that's a factor being spoiled by a lot of uh assassin movies where it just you know they're no longer assassins they're beating up everybody they you know there's no longer undercover [ __ ] all that stuff like Kingsman John Wick what is like the big thing that they like to say in the in the movies it's like oh my cover is blown and then they just kind of don't give a [ __ ] after that they're like well what cover right so it's a lot easier um I don't I don't agree with the score I think it's kind of low for the audience score but maybe you're right about General audiences um heard a couple of these reviews and I'm just like well did they even did they even try did they even try so Direct David Fincher obviously we we expect a lot from him he's made a lot of our beloved movies if we if we remember who he is he made zodiac 7 The Social Network Gone Girl um C Etc I I mean Josh let's start with the initial thoughts let's what what do you think about this movie walking out of it um I know the first time you watched it you watched it twice I had to watch it twice yeah yeah so let me know your initial thoughts so going in I was expecting I mean I wasn't really expecting much I was I haven't heard anything about this movie like I think when it came out um it just flew under the radar um you and you know Netflix doesn't really promote or anything like that so maybe coming straight out the strike we kind of just got a was able to fly because I don't even think we saw a trailer for this we did we did I remember but I mean the trailer didn't really do much I I was just not expecting something as good as I thought and then that's why after watching I was like this was a lot better than I expected but I'm not sure how to like articulate it well and then I was like okay I need a second watch before we record I my my big draw in for this movie was Michael F yeah I think the front man when was uh the last movie he was in I can't remember it's been a minute right he's been like on he's been on a Hiatus don't tell me movies no was it the X-Men movies don't tell me it was uh what was that movie that he made um [ __ ] Assassin's Creed that put him down no no I don't think so the last movie he was in next go wins alien Covenant was 2017 dark Phoenix oh yeah he wasn't he is a exo wins yeah that's the one that's not doing too well that's the Tao movie yeah that's not doing too well yeah so yeah I guess his last one was probably alien Covenant then 2017 no dark Phoenix 2019 oh dark Phoenix alien Covenant was one of the ones the snowmen I know may dark Phoenix was the one that put him under then for a little bit probably he probably came out of that well he was the best part of that movie If I recall the movie I haven't seen it in a long time but if I recall the movie I believe he was the best part of said movie yeah yeah yeah um so we haven't seen him for a while came out of a Hiatus stars in a David Fitcher movie and and I think David Fincher and the dude that wrote the movie Seven with Brad Pit you remember that um I guess they reunited to make this movie again um which is honestly I guess my initial reaction to this movie was I thought it was well done I literally I don't feel like we've had this type of movie and I know we didn't get the B the Bang Pow pops or whatever but maybe I'm just just a good listener maybe it's just something that I I you know I'm interested in hearing the the thoughts but I think and it's going to play into a few of my points but seeing this side of an assassin hearing his vulnerabilities throughout the movie hearing like the pros the cons basically and all that of what it takes to be in this shoes was interesting to me because we never we never hear that they just kind of have everything set ready to go and then you know they're out there kicking ass um taking bullets and standing up afterwards you know what I mean and and this one you know you know mean I like realism in my movies I like you know some kind of feeling of tangibility where you know this can actually happen in real life and I think with every single thing in this movie it was played out extremely extremely well um but if you want to kind of rund down what the movie was like well we get Michael F Bender he's the killer um they don't really have names they kind of associate themselves with the killer the lawyer things like that their characters think of like clue you know what I mean yeah Michael fast Bender he's the killer he's we get a good like 15 minutes of him stalking his prey basically I think it was like 20 yeah around there stocking his prey things like that going through going through his mindset in a time like this before he has to do his job um the job goes horribly wrong it sh it rattles him makes him uh do decisions that he us usually doesn't do and then that leads to him uh his personal life compromised and leads him down the road to other things mhm it's pretty good I mean it all kind of well and then after his life is compromised he goes and starts going up the chain of command to get to the person where he needs to go and when he finally confronts him towards the end of the movie yeah what happens he just kind of at the end of leaves he just basically is like I could get here exactly he did it to prove a point Bas um so solid film I I personally I mean I guess we could start jumping into the characters obviously one of the big characters was Michael fast Bender he was the the main character throughout this whole movie um I thought he was the like the best he was a joy to see on screen again um I like seeing Tilda switon in there for the little bit of time that she was there uh Charles Barnell as well as the lawyer I think he did uh great job the girl who played Dolores too I thought she did really well on the phone he sounded like uh I thought he sounded like um what's his name the dude from State far no the [ __ ] what's his name he from he he was in Mandalorian he play Gideon what was his name oh um Carlo espan yes I thought it was him at first I was like oh that's going to be nice to see him down the line but then it turned out to be him I was like damn he really sounded like him over the phone yeah know we needed the cheap version for this movie we paid a lot for Michael Fender you remember that okay um I thought he was great there was a lot of decision in in this movie that I felt were how you said like something that he shouldn't have done and I thought that exploited the character really well where you know he's he says keep your calm keep your composure um throughout the whole movie but that is exactly what he doesn't do and I think Michael Faz Bender being able to play that inner voice in his head that is trying to save his sanity while at the same time losing his like mind in real life it's it I I lik it playing with one another throughout the movie yeah what do you think about a lot of it was a lot of it was his morality versus is what he chooses to do with it you know what I mean yeah and then his rationale when doing his job but and I think that's kind of crazy because he just sees it as a job he says it right in the beginning he's just like he doesn't give a [ __ ] about any type of politician flag whatever he he works for himself and it's just a job it doesn't matter on who's on the other end and a casualty is just that it's not a casualty to him you know what I mean so like civilian Li or whatever doesn't really matter and I mean that makes sense because I'm assuming up until that point he didn't really miss or anything like that but then he really [ __ ] up and which leads him down that whole path which I really enjoyed too like it was just a spiraling thing of like he does this it really [ __ ] him up so he decides to continue doing down this path basically cleaning up after himself mhm yeah from the mistake that he made yeah basically because he was on his high horse in the beginning where he was like I'm the best assassin I do everything the reason why I'm so effective is because I don't give a [ __ ] who the Mark is basically um and I thought that was it's great to see that happen right because you see all these other characters John Wick all that they kind of get knocked down but they get back up but you never really see what it does or what kind of toll it takes on their decisions on their craft and all that stuff and in this movie the one m stake where he could have easily fixed like he he could have probably loaded another chamber and hit him before the curtain closed but yeah what happened he got involved he got invested that was the very first thing that basically started his spiral and that was like that that whole moment and I know a lot of people say like the first 20 30 minutes is boring I I heard some people say that but the fact that the monologue started literally when the movie started and built up to that point basically let know his whole life the way he thinks the you know I literally thought he was going to hit his Mark and go home and that the movie is going to start off like that so the fact that like it was able to make me think something and then he actually missed the mark and then just to see how it rattled his character I thought fast Bender played that [ __ ] yeah it took me it took that second watch to really like analyze that too because I was just like man like it shakes them up so much for someone who's so prepared like before like spoilers for The Killer obviously because we're already diving deep into the points but he goes through the whole thing about human lives and things like that he gives a bunch of facts and then he's literally like I don't uh try not to be noticeable don't don't be on camera and if you're going to be on camera don't be recognizable things like that and then and then he [ __ ] up and it's for someone so prepared he's just not prepared to not [ __ ] up I mean to [ __ ] up so what does he do he he starts he lowkey starts panicking he's like [ __ ] [ __ ] [ __ ] and like you can see it in just his expression and things like that and I think Michael F did a great job for traying all that yeah like L CU you could tell it's funny because there's some things where he um and I'm just using the beginning because I think that's like the part where a lot of people probably missed it but um like you can see how it shocks him because you know he still avoided the cameras like he's supposed to he still did the things that he needed to do but he did it in a different way more I guess inconspicuous way than what he was doing before you know having that motorcycle helmet I understand is probably just to hide his face but he knows that's going to draw attention when they go back to the cameras yeah and that's going to you know lead people to start looking and blah BL blah blah blah so that's where you start noticing that the slip flops start happening exactly the moment when he that bullet hits that girl and he knows that he messed up that was like that [ __ ] rattled him like because I mean he was living amongst everyone for like a cool minute that's the thing like they put him through everything trying to see like he's calm and collected and then what happens when you're not calm and collected trying to act like you're C and collected cuz I mean he was like being inconspicuous whatever and then I a little detail I kind of like it's like he keeps himself in shape and things like that he was like that's a good like he was talking about McDonald's in that one scene he was just like it's a good way to get protein and you notice right away he takes off the bread yeah because bread is in protein and then he just eats the inside the sandwich and you're just like that is crazy detail yeah and he was trying to act normal and be amongst the people when really he's scoping out his Mark and then he leads down to those events which again he did really good I can't complain about Michael F Bender here no um and honestly none of the other characters I felt even for the short amount of time that they were there I didn't feel like they let down for every single scene that they were supposed to be in I feel every single character played their part I know the taxi driver was there shortlived but I think his what happened with him in the movie was a way to also show Fast Bender's downfall you know cuz he he knew that he didn't have anything to do with it that he would have left it alone and you know he was just more like loose ends but you know he was already making all the wrong decisions he thought he was making the right decision at that point and that's where all the I guess the that muffled of you know where's right where's wrong morality what he was saying in the beginning where where does that happen where does that that where is that stemming from type thing and to see that happen with the taxi driver and you know the way he played it was very you know that that sh made it hurt the way that the kid was uh playing um uh his character The Brute I know he didn't really have a lot of talking but the action scene that we seen with him honestly one of the best fight scenes of 2023 we can't even like the contrast between him and uh what's her name the the chick that she was part he was partnered with the expert the expert I like the contrast because while he's he's a big brute and does things by force she was probably the more calculated one it was just yeah so I kind of liked that Dynamic and by the end of it I was like damn that is an interesting pair to put together because if she was trying to stop that roid head from [ __ ] up the his Michael Faz Bender's like wife or whatever or what you call it and he just wouldn't listen because you know [ __ ] that I'm big and strong and whatever else there's not much that she could do but kind of like that contrast between them that yeah I I like that too their whole conversation the brains and the Braun yeah the whole conversation between them at the dinner table was honestly like chef's kiss like that [ __ ] had me on edge like I literally thought he was going to like leave her alone it just I was like damn um but then you know like he said trust nobody and it turned out to be what it was uh what what happened happened and I don't know I I like I said there there's not much to characters to go around with but at least with fast Bender I think his whole Arc through this movie really just hit very well yeah it was like I said it's it's very simple stuff like like maybe that's why I it's always something I say like it's a simple story so it allows for complex characters and thinking and that's basically what happened yeah so and then obviously I don't feel like like there was much World building I think the world really revolved around fast Bender in this uh film um I don't think that he was looking to make a sequel or plan to expand on this place no I think by the end of the movie they he basically put it behind himh cinematography wise now this is where I had a problem because Fitcher has good visuals within his movies we've seen a lot of movies where he does really good I think a big issue that happened in this movie was Netflix I think the budget couldn't handle it and there were some scenes that looked a little bit off um I seen finer work before and there were some there was some questionable scenes in there for sure and I I had to chalk that up to maybe it being Netflix's production problem or something I don't know what what' you think about that it had decent shots I think a lot of it was um just that like all the planes and stuff look CGI like when they're flying overhead or whatever and they're just like hey Michael F better look up we're going to play we're going to put a plane there then just watch like a JPEG image just um but yeah I I know what you're saying because there wasn't a lot of um uh there wasn't crazy things in here but I don't think it was too bad either no it wasn't the worst thing out there but there was a few times where I was watching I was like come on Netflix like y'all have to all you got to do is keep it together like this is literally a two like two-hour movie of like a man mostly talking and you couldn't at least make it look cinematic for that uh that I think that's what kind of worries me about a lot of Netflix projects I know like there's a few of them that I try to get into and I'm just like I I can't watch it and Zack Snider's making Rebel Moon and I'm hoping that he [ __ ] through hell in high water that [ __ ] comes out great but the fact that it could stumble a great director like Fincher in my opinion I mean it wasn't a lot I don't want to make it sound like the whole movie is like it looks like dog [ __ ] because of Netflix it's just there's a few scenes in there for sure that I was like yeah that Netflix budget really strained or the production or whatever whoever was in charge of that [ __ ] like that I don't know the final product I'm sure fer didn't look at that final product and was like yeah that's 100% my work yeah I mean maybe I mean I it's been a while since I've seen his other stuff I think the last thing I watched recently was the social network and a lot of his movies are basically just like grounded like that which I kind of enjoy about his touch yeah very down to earth very realistic because I mean Michael fastfender has that whole fight scene with um The Brute The Brute and the brute was on his ass but and it's not like Michael Fender was like John Wick or whatever like yeah he knew basic stuff basic fighting but he wasn't like it man you know what what I mean like he wasn't throwing hands like that which again he was just smart and calculated exactly while the brute was throwing big punches big swings he knew when to like move back yeah hit him with certain things cuz he didn't try to if you notice he didn't really hit him with his fists because that was going to [ __ ] up his hands what he hit him with glass bottles anything he can grab that's that's one of the things I noticed too on my second rewatch right he's like be what do he say I I can't remember what he says of verbatim where he's just like be in the moment or whatever don't anticipate something like that m and he looks down that hallway full of his like bong and glass and whatever full of his weed stuff yeah and like he leads him in there and he literally starts wailing on him with everything in sight yeah so I noticed that too and I'm like damn he really does prepare for everything trying to see if I I think I typed it down too because I I I thought that quote was like amazing but that that one that whole fight scene was crazy I thought that uh that calculation in that moment was great and I caught that that's what I'm saying is that and I'm probably going to we're going to talk about that a little bit later I don't want to damn I don't want to jump the gun I'm going to give it a second I'm going to give it a second but obviously are we are we in agreeance with it when it comes down to the the cinematography though yeah I can see what you're saying what I really liked about each scene though the The Sounds oh yeah mhm the music um when there was music but a lot of it was basic like City Human sounds and like when something needed to be muffled it made sense why it was muffled so like when he walked into the I think it's right after he gets that Amazon package and he walks inside a room and you hear all the people and then he closes it behind him and it's like muffled people and things like that like those kinds of sounds I was really enjoying I was like man attention to detail there was insane CU yeah we like a lot of people forget it won't be as loud but it doesn't mean that that sound goes away yeah so and I don't know I I really like the the the atten into detail I like that and I like the POV shots I like the when you know he puts his earbuds in and we see him in the room and the music kind of muffled and then we see the POV shot where he's you know looking at the things and you hear the noises that he hears and you know that that that played a lot of that played a lot into like what you're saying where you know things would just kind of come and go with the noises I I enjoyed that as well I thought that was very well calculated by him yeah that uh was great and then so we're going to move I guess we I guess we kind of talked about it it's I think there's only like one fight scene but the fight scene was solid the Florida guy the floran the the fight scene was solid 100% yeah I like I said hands down had to be one of the better fights of I thought that dog was gonna bite his ass dude I was like [ __ ] oh you thought he was I thought he was going to like slip up and it was going to bite his ass I was going to be like like damn to be honest I thought he was going to snap the dog's throat I thought I thought he was just going to turn around and just or something I literally I was like oh that's probably going to happen I was expecting him to shoot him when he heard him coming just yeah that that too so I thought he was going to do something like that but the fact that he kind of just left the dog I was like okay that's fair uh that's another thing right that little flame that he did with that Molotov cocktail yeah that [ __ ] was [ __ ] I was like what the [ __ ] that like the CGI on some of these uh Netflix Productions really got to get studied at this point like honestly because it's simple fire that's all you have to do do simple fire make a CGI Molotov cocktail if you wanted to but then just like the [ __ ] on fire and record it on fire like what like you know what I mean like I I don't know I don't know I'm not a director I wouldn't know um but let's talk about I guess the overall plot and how solid that was did we feel like there was a solid plot a reason for this character to go all the way through where he did yeah I would say so and then the conflict of his own character being like struggling with it and all that yeah because I mean think about it he [ __ ] up so bad he goes up the chain of command it leads him from a taxi driver to the lawyer to the lawyer to the brutes I mean to the two assassins that that had it he gets to the top and literally he's it was allo Pro point he was just like don't [ __ ] with me again mhm and then whatever and then you know by the end of it he leaves the life behind him I but the guy was just like I don't even know who you are basically yeah and like he didn't even that's the thing he was just a normal guy he didn't even know that like all that was playing out he he just he was told something and he was just like yeah just do it you know like he didn't worry about any of that extras it made me think about the connection though between everything because he was like a tech Mongol kind of guy and he probably wanted a politician dead because it got in the way of his [ __ ] M so in the public eye it's like okay yeah this guy would have died and his stocks would have went up whatever the [ __ ] else and Michael Fender is out here just like fighting for his life like I think that's kind of interesting well that that that's another thing that goes to show you is that these they pay the money they call the shots but they don't really know what's happening underneath you know um like what he said what the client said he was like what I told him was hey he's human mistakes happen right but that was tooken as oh we need a tie of Blue Ends yeah you know what I'm saying so it's the communication between the parties and the the complete like obliviousness of a character to not want to you know or have anybody to not want to check in on or really care for I guess if I guess if you're in a certain position you can really care care less what happens with those other people you know um so that I thought the plot was pretty straightforward and I thought it was uh it made sense I know um I talked to a couple people and they were I heard that they said like like why didn't he just lay low and stuff I personally thought it was because of that because he the point what he should have done was lay low yeah that's what he should have done as an assassin who messed up his mark But for somebody who didn't know what to do in that time because he's never had that happen to him he was shooking up and he made all the wrong decisions and that's what kind of made the plot start rolling what I thought was weird a little bit I guess now that we're like talking about it is like they beat up his wife and things like that and was basically like because they thought they were going to find him at the house M but like how did they know he was going back to the house the dude on the plane followed him the random guy the guy with the socks yeah his hunch was right but he didn't eliminate him because he didn't think that he was being followed oh that's why he did the layover that dude collected the Intel knew where he was going saw that he got off the plane continued to go that way to obviously collect the Intel the only thing is is that we didn't see him again so that was like one of the characters that a lot of people are going to like completely in my opinion it's going to go over their head because it he was made to play as that thing in his head where I don't know if I'm safe or not and I I I think that they just kind of after the whole plane ride they kind of kind of just did away with him and okay yeah brought in the and for me it was that's basically what happened I was like what the [ __ ] yeah he he just kind of did up and disappeared which that I thought that they were going to show him a little bit more I even thought that he was probably going to be that taxi the driver dud who paid you to follow me type [ __ ] exactly but they didn't really uh sadly they didn't follow up on it that's just I guess that's one downside when it comes to this movie but yeah that we basically wrapped up all that guess I what I really want to talk about is a good chunk of the pros and cons and one of the cons that a lot that I heard a lot of people say it wasn't for me but I know a lot of people say it the first 20 to 30 minutes are boring that the movie is boring do you agree it's just slow and slow isn't the same as boring I don't think it it's that Slow Burn yeah okay slow like that's the difference I think people get mixed up with slow and boring because a movie can be boring right out the gate I I think Sully was Bor boring it wasn't like a slow anything it was just kind of started out boring if you can remember that movie the the plane movie I like that movie I mean I ended up rewatching it yeah it grew on me but I I could consider that beginning boring and whatever else um but it was just slow and it was I can understand that and I don't know maybe that's just what that's again that's just people don't expect that kind of thing nowadays they expect Boom Bang Pow from an assassin type of movie so I I think that's just a grander scheme of things okay yeah cuz I I don't consider this movie boring do I think there's a lot of dialogue yeah I think there is a lot of dialogue that you have to listen to there's a lot that you have to uh really um hear out for because there's some things that you could miss if you don't listen to everything um I even think that I got to rewatch it a third time because you know they talk so much you kind of think that you get everything but then you're just like what the hook like how how did I get here mhm um but they I think when I watched at least when I watched it the first time I wasn't bored with the first 20 30 minutes I was actually I think that was the most exciting part of the movie and then we kind of got rolling and I thought that it was going to turn into one of those oh I got to knock down every single character until I get to the boss level kind of thing and though it did kind of play out like that it played out in a more suspenseful way where it wasn't him necessarily kicking down doors and just cracking people's heads he was still being covert about it still being uh you know an assassin you know uh what he do to the lawyer guy when he shot him three times in the chest he was like oh you know um male mid whatever non-smoker he's in a last for a few minutes and then he just dies and he's just like what the like like what I think he just said like [ __ ] or something like damn and so I don't know I I felt like everything was well calculated I think it was well uh executed the way the movie went on even to the very end and I uh I thought I was disappointed with the ending at first um when he was just like I could get this close to you and then just walked away yeah but then I was like no I I think it makes sense because he I honestly I honestly believe he understood that he had nothing to do with it and he was just like if you do have something to do with it next time but then at the same time I was like well then you killed that you know the taxi kid for what you know I was like [ __ ] dude I think the taxi kid was just circumstance he was just wrong place wrong time and even then he saw his face he had a gun he couldn't just let him go and then the lawyer the lawyer was a big part of it he made the call too and then but he only made the call because the big guy made the call right yeah so he made the call and then you know he goes to the Florida and he I don't think I think if the Florida guy wasn't as brute BR wasn't so much of a brute he probably would have had the same chance at a conversation but because he he was basically whooping his ass I'm over the conversation at that point pop up like I I get that that was one thing I was like damn he just [ __ ] killed him he could have got an information out of him but I understood that he the dude was kind of Relentless he was I would have been like I would have been like and then yeah his dog could have woken up any time which he did and then he gets to the chick and the chick is like trying to not plead for her life but she's coming to terms with it in her own way and and then you know she ends up where she ends up and then she was buying more time yeah basically I like that story about the bear that she told the second time around I understood it I was like she talking talk about him oh my God oh my God yeah that's that's what uh see and that's what I mean that's what I mean it's just too much dialogue that I feel like it loses people I I and this is what um when after I watched it because I watched it before you and um I had was kind of trying to tell you without trying to tell you what the movie's about yeah um but like it's just so much dialogue it's going to go over a lot of people's heads and I think one watch isn't going to do it for people and I think that's the good part about this movie The rewatchability of the dialogue because the dialogue is so hard-hitting I mean I caught mostly everything I like I caught mostly everything that obviously I do I want to be more thorough and I'm just like man this movie is like super good I don't think it's like certain movie that I put on a high pedestal for 2023 good but I think it reaches at a certain point when especially when it comes to uh some of these things that like Michael fast Bender says like there's one dialogue that I was just like uh oh this one the the when he's like the the need to feel secure it's a slippery slope fate is a placebo the only life PL path the one behind you if in the brief time we're all given you can't accept this well maybe you're not one of the few maybe you're just like me one of the many I was like okay and I even told you in the beginning too I think that this moov movie purposely put in some dialogue where um where he says oh this job isn't for the week like you have to be able to endure boredom like if you cannot endure boredom th this job isn't for you and I think he purposely put that in there because not obviously there's people that are going to take these long dialogue scenes and say it's boring yeah but all that boring Parts yeah all those boring parts are literally the parts you really need to listen to and I just I was just like wow like Fincher's playing chess while [ __ ] playing checkers out here basically yeah there was just a lot of good scenes like that I like the I like the line in the beginning where he's like I don't believe in fate or or I don't believe in karma or whatever and then he's like just live the life you're given basically which I mean he's right he was right he was just like he was like cuz at any moment he could be snipped and then he he misses and he shoots the chick basically enforcing what he was saying man there's a lot of good stuff here and I'm glad I took a second watch cuz yeah I I probably wouldn't have been able to articulate anything I was G to try to say here yeah and then like his justification for his kills too right the the target when he was when he said 140 million human beings are born every year give or take worldwide population is approximately 7.8 billion every second 1.8 people die while 4.2 are born into that very same second nothing I've ever done will make a in those metrics exactly I was like damn bro like you just don't give a [ __ ] you're just like oh man I'm if I put this guy down he's just going to come right back up as another person you know so it's in it's insane I I thought the justification in his mind was great did you find I know some people said that this movie was confusing did you find like it was confusing no I don't understand how it could be confusing I like I understand the dialogue and stuff can get you confused but if you're paying attention it's all pretty cut and dry man well let's uh let's take that bear scene that you were saying as an example were you confused when she said it or was it just so much dialogue by that point you you kind of just missed it well the first time I was confused I was like what does this story have to do with her situation cuz I mean for for a second it makes it sound like so there was some confusing Parts well yeah for a second though that's cuz the story was about him but I think around that time I was like what is she talking about that like like I thought it was she was talking about she was talking about herself oh okay you thought it was about her the I thought she was the Bear in that situation you know what I mean yeah but no we're talking about him he's the hunter who can't give up a kill so I was like okay and that's why it took me a second to wrap around cuz I thought she was talking about you know her side being the bear and give him a chance to walk away or whatever mhm come come to the conclusion that maybe this isn't the path he should be on and then he goes but he was just like no I'm I'm right here take your last [ __ ] meal basically right and then you know yeah because she tried to justify it she was just like it could have been a random car jacking you could have pushed me downstairs threw me in the ice but because you're so uh in invested in what you're doing you came right up into a packed restaurant yeah like he he basically is making the wrong decision again exactly he should have iced her quietly but what did he do he made a spectacle about it he wanted to be seen he wanted to be remembered I I just I was like man I was in awe of this movie with like the way that certain people were talking so I mean then there was some confusing parts and I kind of understand that for some people and to the those people that were confused bored of this movie go rewatch it give it a second watch I think there's a lot of like gems in this movie that to be honest we don't get nowadays like I said the whole beginning scene was just a big flip on its head from what the normal is nowadays anyways because nowadays what do they do they introduce the Assassin they shoot the guy's whatever dog wife child still a a kid's bracelet um and there they go on this [ __ ] RI River of blood [ __ ] killing people in cool ways Mr Nobody that one was one of my like top assassin movies that were like that whole bus scene was and he and he's supposed to be regular guy too exactly but he's probably more skilled than Michael fast exactly right well he's supposed to be an assassin but like when they get to those point I I felt like Mr Nobody was more real it wasn't like John Wick where he just can mow people down yeah so there's levels to this assassin sh and so with fast Benders I felt like he was kind of in nobody's Lane where like he he had training but it obviously wasn't going to be like it was just going to be like how to defend yourself and [ __ ] like that and when it came down to the brutes it showed how calculated he was when he knew that he was outmatched at least with the with the muscle mass and all that and how he was going to slow him down and beat him up in a different way and that was oh that whole ah I just remembered about it that whole scene where he [ __ ] lands on the [ __ ] table in his ass ah he's just like he he just gets up he's like [ __ ] I know like the chair whatever bro when I see I was like I had to do a reat like when I watched it again I was just like oh my God and he just kind of like touched it and was like like looked at the blood I was like you're sick you're sick you should have went down there should have died like a man on that stick like that was insane um but that's all the cons that I basically heard from that was confusing boring and maybe the whole cast thing that there wasn't a lot of cast but I honestly believe fast Bender carries this movie 100% I think with no other cast fast Bender literally shined throughout this whole movie there was no dull moment yeah exactly even those scenes where he was stretching and stuff I was just like interested like the form the straightness that he was the Perfection that he put into it I was like okay he really cares about this [ __ ] job yeah yeah basically oh yeah I I like the few I like that scene where he's uh where he's like there's over how many storage units in America and he has about six of six of them in Six States or whatever mhm and then he's like I eventually when the money runs out I can't wait for them to show up on a sto on a episode of Storage Wars and pack his [ __ ] yeah and I'm like they find all of his evidence he won't even bother to like burn it away well cuz when he said when the money dries up he's Assuming he's dead oh so you know when the money dries up and they see all his guns and all that stuff it's you know at that point it's it's going to say it imagine winning that kind of storage unit you you beted all that money just to get all those guns and everything and then you find a dead lawyer in there or some [ __ ] I don't know that um but yeah man other than that do you have any cons pros for this movie um no not really cons other than that yeah it was slow and it could be interpreted as boring because I mean and two hour a run time it could feel like it drags on but I think that's because of Fincher's whole focus on the moment type of deal camera movement and then fast Benders monologuing but there was fun scenes here what threw me off randomly was um rewatching it he he and Dolores are in the elevator with the lawyer in the trash bag the trash bin this [ __ ] guy was like need help with that body I'm like I've never heard anyone say that to me while taking out the trash I don't I don't know who says that randomly what no oh you haven't lived life people make jokes like that it's so dumb I you never like she laughs and I'm like who the [ __ ] says that to people like you never you never like been in a hotel room where you have like a duffel bag or something with you no oh it happens I guess I that's why when I seen it too I was just kind of like ha and then the fact that she overreacts I was just like that's hilarious cuz Yeah well yeah know I thought it was funny but it was random as [ __ ] I'm like who why do you say that yeah I guess that just comes with life experience I I've heard people do that I'm just like well not the time guy you just you know you kick the body one time you're just like shut up don't say nothing um but so just boring or can be boring can be boring it can be and just a tad confusing if you don't pay attention to the dialogue more or less yeah I would say I would I would literally put that with if you don't pay attention with the dialogue because if you don't listen you're going to miss something and if you miss something you're not going to understand what his intention and where where his mindset is because they literally laid down his mindset throughout the whole movie his inner head his monologue which is in my opinion one of the best parts his little like Angel on the shoulder if you will like is telling him what he should and should not be doing and he interprets that the way that he feels he should basically yeah I I but yeah I I can agree that there could be some boring Parts but I think the captivating part was the beginning for sure for me I think that's what really sold me in the beginning I didn't feel not one dull moment in the beginning I was like willing to be like I when I heard boring and I seen it I was like well I understand I understand why people think it's boring but I don't I don't I didn't find that yeah I didn't think that so I don't know but if there's nothing else Josh from a scale one to 10 all right 10 being the best one being the worst five being in the middle what would you rate this movie and a little summary this is a tough part because I liked it I really did like it I just I don't know if the rewatch ability is there a third time fourth time maybe I watched it twice and I feel like you know I don't want to sit through it again if that makes any sense not for a while anyway Michael Fender does really Michael fast Bender does really good here can't be mad at that he does really good he shines everyone else did really well in what they were supposed to do there is that Slow Burn there is a lot of dialogue which can we interpreted as boring I'm not saying I interpreted it that way but I understand lack of action uh a lot of it was like very good though despite lack of I think the tension was there for sure yeah I I Gotta Give it like an eight an eight eight out of 10 I don't know I don't know I feel like that's not your real number I don't I don't feel like you enjoyed it that much no yeah it was good that like I can usually take most of your like numbers I feel like this time I got to give a little push back you don't feel like it's an eight for you no no it was good I like the way you describe it and the way you think about it I feel like you're at like a six with it or something a six and a half no because it was good I did enjoy it um I just I don't know again it's just one of those things where it's like do you want a movie that's very like thought-provoking like this and you know like um what's that one what's that other movie that you like called asteroid City asteroid City where you want to think and be involved in stuff or do you want a movie where you can think about it but at the same time have a few good punches in there too and I I would like the Best of Both Worlds if I could but this one's good I can't knock it too much and it it feels fine okay because I'd personally give this movie like 8.5 I would say because I it's better than the average movie I think think I do like that aspect where you know movie where it makes you think and you have to really put yourself in one shoes to really figure it out um the POV shots in this movie were great that one scene where like the bullet like pierces the the head I I was like that's a cool shot to have seen too though there was a few stumbles with the with the whole Netflix part um even then this this for a Netflix movie is crazy I thought it was pretty good though yeah so I got to give it like like 8.5 for sure okay I I think it's not it's not the perfect movie it's just I I I I personally think the rewatchability is there because of the fact that there's so much dialogue and there's so much for you to pick up on and kind of like how you said on the first watch when you didn't see the things in the hallway or when he first looked in the hallway you didn't notice that that's what he was picking up on but then the second time you were like oh like he was you know it was calculated yeah I caught a lot of that in the first time where you know the whole calculation was there when he first you know showed up to the house and he saw the cigarettes and the boots and the dirt and then when you know he goes to the the the lawyer he Stakes it out and then figures out a way to get in there even knowing that he's been there before yeah um there's there's so much in there to pick up on the little little like habits that he kind of implements into his work and I I don't know I find it fun I think the rewatchability is there for the fact that there's so much to pick up on which is dialogue and little uh things and scenes that you probably didn't see the first time okay interesting mhh yes yes yes very good yes but with with that um let us know if you guys watch the killer let us know what you guys thought about the movie did
