I Stayed at a Hotel Built on an Active Volcano

behind me is an active volcano yes active as in could erupt at any moment this is kiloa the most active volcano in the world last erupting just 2 months ago with its longest eruption lasting over 60 years long in 2018 the volcano was spewing lava at 26,000 Gall per second and an earthquake of a 6.9 magnitude causing over $230 billion in Damages and still someone decided to build a hotel on that same volcano and yep I'm dumb enough to stay the night and while we wait to see if I actually make it to another day I have three simple goals in mind number one I want to get as close as humanly possible to this volcano two I want to see the lava tubes three I I'm going to get a trinket for my wife I don't know it's she keeps telling me I need to stop filming these videos where I almost die it feels like a good gesture so you know if I make it this is the Volcano House a hotel built directly on top of the volcano it's very accurately named so behind me is actually the hotel and restaurant that's where I'm going to be staying volcano Hotel there's like a 100 yards of trees left here before you're actually just in the volcano I mean one eruption and this thing is it's toast it's gone so yeah while I'm thinking about what my final meal is going to be tonight and taking a tour of the volcano Hotel I decided it would be a good idea to find a park ranger and put myself at ease I mean it's not like the volcano is just going to go off at any moment right what are the odds that goes off any day it can happen in 5 minutes this is Greg experienced park ranger and native to this island can I can just erupt in 5 minutes I'll be asleep in the volcano house and it could just go crazy you could be you could be running on on a trail and boom foreshadow and the last time it erupted was in June yeah crazy it's always good to know where they're at and and how to get back out of the park we only have one entrance so that actually wasn't that comforting said we basically have 5 minutes if this thing starts to go off and it could happen at literally any moment they've had to take buildings down over here because the crater keeps getting bigger and bigger and the land just keeps falling in at the edge eventually the path I'm walking on will not exist anymore also he straight up said the volcano house will eventually be a part of the volcano like it's inevitable they built that thing at the edge of the volcano and I'm staying in it tonight that could be tonight there's only one road out of here so yeah I'm not feeling great about getting closer to the volcano at this point oh yeah baby let's get this bread okay yeah it's a it's a pretty sick view I mean at least if it goes off I'll have a front row seat to my impending death I'm sure it will be beautiful I'm going to give you guys a room tour but first I'm going to go check out the lava tubes the best way to get to the lava tubes from my hotel was to take a short jog meaning the hotel could soon be a lava tube honestly aside from the fact that this volcano could absolutely destroy anything in its path including me this is this is actually a pretty beautiful hike I mean it feels like I'm inside Jurassic world all right I think I'm approaching the lava tube enter at your own risk all right holy smokes waa this is crazy oh gosh yeah I just about ate it oh my goodness this is pretty cool I'm not going to lie this is a good one for the bucket list this lava tube was made up of you guessed it lava and uh over time ice gets in here and then expands and then no wait it's Hawaii dude that's complete BS we're in there's no way there's ice in here well according to our overlords at Google lava tubes are created when lava flows beneath the surface and is actually the second most common type of cave found all over the world yeah this is basically History Channel my next stop is by far my most risky yet Four Mile round trip so hopefully I get back before it gets dark I want to get as close to the volcano as humanly possible possible and apparently there's a path that will take you directly on top of it easily one of my worst ideas I mean you heard that Ranger this thing could go off at any moment and here we are oh my gosh is that not the most terrifying path you've ever seen in your life bro that looks like death is just looming I feel like I'm trying to be funny to hide my fear I don't need to remind you guys that this thing could go off at any moment you could be running on on a trail and boom this went off 2 months ago that's not that long ago guys I need to stop filming videos like this truly I need to which one should I do next I'm in the middle of this volcano which feels really risky I need to get to the other side but you want to know it's not risky starting your come on that's cool god well that is until this volcano eats these flowers for breakfast it is time for a room tour first things first we've got the bed it's actually kind of a big bed it's a king bed kind of bouncy I like it there's a safe as well the safe does not work so there's that a nice big couch I thought this was be creative framing I'll show you the couch the bathroom there's just it's not a it's not a space you really want to be in or really show anybody why do I show you guys the bathroom and I mean come on that view and of course a work desk going to get a lot of work done here I'm going to go eat some food I'm starving time to go eat pizza folks look at that my hair is I'm not even going to try and fix it that is what I'm going to dinner with that's how tired I am I decided that since this might be my very last meal that it better be my favorite food pizza all joking aside the restaurant actually overlooks the volcano as well and I couldn't help but think about how insane it would be to just be sitting here eating a delicious pizza and seeing lava spewing at high speeds not scary at all all right this is one of those classic Moment of Truth situations I feel like I'm way too nonchalant about these now like I just go to bed and I'm like I'm going to wake up tomorrow one of these days it's going to be way more sketch actually I don't know if you guys remember but the worst cruise video truly terrifying waking up in the middle of the night and just feeling the boat Shake if I wake up in the middle of the night and this boat is shaking it's not a boat it's the Earth good night please don't lava me I'm the off there we go lucky for me the volcano held off for another day good thing cuz if I died K would have killed me don't forget to watch
