10 Reasons To Get Excited For iOS 18 & iPhone 16 Lineup!

The iOS and iPhone 16 Dilemma so this is a super interesting year for the new iPhone 16 lineup as well as iOS 18 and 18.1 and apple intelligence because it's a little bit confusing as to what people will be getting with what Hardware with what software what feature sets so in this video what I want to do is talk about some of the things that are going to make getting an iPhone 16 absolutely worth it but then also talk about some of the features coming to iOS 18 and 18.1 for those people that maybe have just purchased a brand new iPhone 15 and don't want to upgrade and not worry about Apple intelligence and those types of features and so I will list some of these features out I'll also mention what Hardware will be supported by these features so you guys are aware of what you're getting and what you're not getting and my goal here is to kind of express to you guys exactly what is coming to which iPhone with which iOS version because right now as I mentioned it's a little bit convoluted and I want to clear things up so let's get into [Music] it so the first feature is actually going to be a very cool one and it's been evolving ever since Apple pay was Tap To Cash first announced so first we got Apple pay and being able to use you know the NFC chip and iPhones to pay em mergence and things like that and then most recently in 2022 Apple allowed iPhones to be an actual payment terminal so if you had a small business you no longer needed to get one of those Square tablets or needed to get a specific POS system you could actually take payment directly from a credit card onto the iPhone itself but now there's a new feature coming to iOS 18 that's going to be supported by any iPhone that gets iOS 18 and that's going to be ta to cash now tap to cash in retrospect is going to be the same exact idea but instead between two different people you're able to then use your phones to exchange money up to $500 before getting approvals so let's say maybe you guys all go out to dinner and somebody picks up the bill and then you owe somebody $40 for your dinner you can actually tap to cash them directly from your phone then it'll show up on their phone in their apple cash and then be able to them be withdraw to their bank account or added to their high yield seams account Etc so tap the cash I think is going to be one of those features that a lot of people will be using moving forward the second feature that's coming to all iPhones running iOS RCS Support 18 is going to be RCS support and what RCS support is and we have a whole video which I'll link down below if you guys want to check that out really explaining and demoing what RCS looks like is that it's going to allow iPhones and Android phones to communicate with a lot less restrictions whereas we see with imessage and being able to text between two iPhones is very easy whereas as of right now with iOS 17 the texting experience between an Android phone and an iPhone is very broken and Apple has done this on purpose because they want it to be the best experience iPhone to iPhone so what RCS allows which stands for Rich communication Services is that allows you to send full resolution images and full resolution videos as well as being able to see the little actual typing indicator and being able to react to messages so it's almost like a iMessage experience but it's still green bubbles so apple is making it known that you are texting a non iPhone but the experience is just way more fluid which opens the door up to more people maybe adopting Android rather than iOS because especially here in America that friction between iMessage and non iMessage on iPhone versus an Android phone is a big deal for better for worse so now kind of open opening that up and letting that be a little bit more accessible I think is a huge feature coming to iOS 18 another really Reduce Motion Sickness cool one that's coming is going to be reduce motion sickness and that's going to be in the accessibility settings of iOS 18 and I'll show you guys how to pull that up but basically what this is doing is for those people that like to use their phone maybe in the backseat of a car or they're on a training commuting or even on an airplane there's a lot of people that get motion sickness I for one I'm one of those people that if I'm a passenger in a car it is very hard for me to use my phone because I start to get a little bit sick and you know get car sick and things like that so now what doing is introducing this new motion sickness protocol which adds these little beads on your iPhone screen and uses the gyroscope and the accelerometer to kind of go against the grain so if you're moving One Way those dots move the other way which ideally reduces motion sickness and Apple's done a bunch of studies that this is going to help big time so if you guys are somebody that really doesn't like using their phone in the car and but wants to be able to use it in the car now you can during those long road trips and try to avoid all that motion sickness now another feature coming to all iPhones New Home Screen running iOS 18 is going to be the new customizable home screen which is going to be a really nice feature that people have been wanting pretty much since the iOS 1 or you know iPhone os1 which is what it was called back then and basically what you're allowed to do now with the home screen is that you can put apps anywhere onto the iPhone grid same thing goes with widgets and you get a little bit more customization when it comes to being able to change the color and the themes of your icons now it's not full customization which you've seen kind of in the past with the shortcut trick and things like that but you're able to not only change the color from a light mode to a dark mode but then also you can change the Hues of each of the applications albeit you have to keep the same theme in terms of the Hue color for all your applications so I like to keep mine in just dark mode because I think those icons are cool enough but you get a little bit extra customization on the iPhone home screen for the first time ever which is being able to now move those icons wherever you want so you can have an open space in the middle of your home screen which is cool to see so a little extra customization is never a bad thing and another nice one that's New Mail App coming with iOS 18 and 18.1 to all iPhones is going to be the new mail application now there are some AI features in the mail app which only the newer iPhones are going to get which we'll touch on in a little bit but now we actually get a real categorically organized mail application which is what I've been wanting for a very long time I have never liked the Apple Mail app I've always thought it was a little janky a little bit kind of weird to use and I usually gravitate towards using the Gmail application and things like that so now having a normal inbox which priority inbox and then kind of promotional mail and then some maybe mail that you don't want to deal with now gets nice and categorized inside the mail app in iOS 18 so definitely looking forward to that one similar to the mail Reminders App application getting updated the reminders app is getting updated with iOS 18 and it does come with some features that are going to be for everybody running iOS 18 but then also there are some AI specific features where it plays with Siri very nicely but for those people that are just getting iOS 18 you are able to now have the reminders app sync with your calendars app which is something that again I cannot believe it took this long for Apple to do something like that but now you are able to let's say remind yourself to get groceries on a certain date and then it'll also show up as a DOT on your calendar so they are talking to each other for the first time ever with iOS 18 as I mentioned the features that I just talked about are for all iPhones that are are able to run iOS 18 iOS 18 Support so that'll be from the iPhone 10s and 10s Max all the way to the brand new iPhone 16 Pro Max which should be releasing towards the end of September SOS Messaging but now a new feature coming to is 18 is going to be satellite SOS messaging so Apple introduced satellite SOS with iPhone 14 lineup and they were kind of using it as an emergency SOS Beacon so people are out hiking or in the wilderness or anything where they don't have service and they need to contact emergency services they're able to use satellite messaging to indicate to those Emergency Services where they are how long they've been gone and things like that to be at the end of the day rescued by this and now what Apple's doing with iOS 18 is expanding on that and making it a little bit more usable and not just an emergency situation so now you're able to use satellite SOS with regular messaging if you are in a situation where you really need to get a message out and then not have any service you can use satellite messaging to relay that message via a regular iMessage to anybody you see fit now Apple mentioned with the iPhone 14 launch that satellite SOS was something that they were going to charge for eventually they mentioned Pricing of SOS? that it was going to be for free for 2 years and we're now kind of coming up on that your threshold so we're not 100% sure if Apple's going to be charging extra for this or what that looks like but as of right now with iOS 18 satellite messaging is something that you can do and as of right now it's included in whatever pricing you have with your iPhone but let's see if Apple actually ends up charging people for that but I do want to mention that you need to be running iOS 18 and have an iPhone 14 or newer for this to work so now let's get into some of those AI Apple Intelligence Support features and unfortunately as I've been mentioning right now the only iPhones that are going to be able to have apple intelligence will be the iPhone 15 pro and pro Max as well as as iPhone 16 lineup of phones from the regular 16 all the way to the 16 Pro Max apple is saying the reason this is happening is because you need at least 8 gigs of RAM to run Apple intelligence and unfortunately the iPhone 15 and 15 plus do not have enough RAM in order to run this so if you are using one of those phones and you do update to iOS 18 you will be getting the features I mentioned earlier but you will not be getting any of the Apple intelligence stuff you will not be getting any of the new series stuff which is very unfortunate and then also keep in mind that the Apple intelligence stuff isn't actually coming out until 18.1 so if you do buy yourself a brand new 16 Pro Max it's going to come pre-loaded with iOS 18 which will not have apple intelligence so do not freak out eventually Apple will release 18.1 probably sometime in October and release Apple intelligence in all of its glory to everybody that has those newer iPhones that do support it so the first New Notes App feature that's going to be coming is going to have a much smarter Apple Notes application and this is going to be across the board so again this works probably better honestly on the iPad because you have a much bigger canvas so iPad OS 18.1 will support things like smart scribe which I guess technically is supported on iOS 18.1 as well but it works much better with an apple pencil but basically what it does is that if you are handwriting notes or handwriting a message and it'll basically take that handwriting and make that handwriting a little bit more legible A little bit cleaner while still using like the essence of your personal handwriting which has been working marvelously with 18.1 and it makes it just easier for other people to read so if you are somebody that uses notes in a collaborative format being able to then handw write and get smart scribe enabled because me personally I have terrible handwriting so now with other people reading it they'll be able to read my terrible handwriting because Apple's fixing it in the back end using Apple intelligence and then in that same light notes is just getting overall smarter for instance you're able to set variables from a math notes perspective so in this demo I have right here I'm able to say maybe I was trying to split a bill probably not the most efficient way to split a build but this is a great demo to show you what you can do and basically what you can do is set certain variables so you can see that I have Jill and Amanda and Kirk and things like that they each spend a certain amount of money on a dinner Bill and then I added that all up and then evenly divided it by four to see exactly how much the perfect division was and I did all that by just creating variables inside a Notes application so being able to do that is going to work wonders not only in maybe an education setting but also in your personal day-to-day being able to set variables and then solve those variables in certain situations and it's coming to Apple notes with iOS 18 as long as you're running an iPhone that's newer than the 15 pro and pro Max some Clean up Feature in Photos other really nice Apple intelligence specific features that will be coming one is in the photos application and it's going to be the new cleanup feature inside the photos app it's very similar to those applications that we seen on the Google side like magic eraser basically if you take an image or take a photo with your iPhone or even any photo for that matter that's imported into your iPhone you can then remove different aspects of that image to clean it out if it doesn't make sense for that to be inside of that image so let's say you take a group photo and there's a couple other people in the background maybe on a beach or something that's a demo Apple used you can just physically erase them with the cleanup tool and then that cleanup tool is also going to replace the markup tool inside of Mac OS with Mac OS AOA and one thing to note is that's still not out with 18.0 that'll probably be a feature coming with 18.1 Contextual Knowledge in Native Apps and then as I mentioned earlier each native application is going to get a little bit smarter from an AI perspective so the mail application the reminders app the calender app everything is going to work very well with Siri internally being able to then kind of remind you when things are due or maybe if you are at the grocery store it'll tell you hey just remember to get broccoli or things like that so it'll just make your day-to-day easier from an Apple intelligence standpoint and then New Siri finally we do have to talk about the new Siri as of right now the new Seri is available with 18.1 beta so if you want to run the developer beta of 18.1 by all means do that the beta 2 is a lot more stable than the beta 1 beta 1 really made your phone heat up but now with beta 2 it does work a little bit better as of right now Siri does give you a little bit more from a contextual standpoint it's a little bit smarter a little bit more reactive it answers you a little bit quicker I have a whole video comparing iOS 17 Seri versus iOS 18 Seri if you guys want to check that video out because we do find out that honestly it is a little bit smarter but not by much as of right now but as this starts to evolve it does get better and that's what I've personally noticed from day one when I upgraded to 18 .1 it was just okay but now a couple weeks later 18.1 Siri is actually learning from how I speak learning how I text and it's getting a lot better overall so I'm sure Apple intelligence will continue to grow as more and more people use it and as you personally use it more often and then also we do have the chat GPT integration and Apple has made it very clear from a security standpoint that it will only go to chat GPT with your ChatGPT permission on every single occasion so if you do want to go to chat gbt if it's something that maybe you ask Ser that it doesn't know contextually based on what's in your iPhone it'll then be like hey hey do you want to use chat gbt to find out this information that you asked you can either press yes or no if you say yes it'll go to chat gbt and then report it back to you and then turn off that connection completely so for those people that are worried that chat gbt will be learning from you I'm sure to some extent they will be but Apple's making it very clear that security is at the Forefront making sure that everything is on device so those are the Final take main reasons why I think Apple intelligence as well as iOS 18 and the new iPhones will be worth it because you do get a little bit more overall it is just very unfortunate and I don't really know another situation where Apple spent so much time on such like a top level feature which is Apple intelligence and then not allowed like the newest iPhones to be able to use it right the iPhone 15 and 15 plus unfortunately like I keep mentioning if you purchase one this past year you will not get half the features that Apple's going to be mentioning or has mentioned at WWDC and will mention on stage come at their glow Time Event now I'm not going to go Ahad and recommend that you just get rid of your iPhone 15 plus because you just got it and that's still a perfectly good phone and iOS 18 on that version will still be good enough but if you somebody that wants to take advantage of the Apple intelligence of the AI then maybe it is worth it to trade it in and upgrade to a new iPhone 16 but also keep in mind if you have an empowered iPad from 2020 or 2021 or even if you have an M1 MacBook Air you will still have some version of Apple intelligence built in there because all you need is an empowered computer or an a17 Pro or newer enabled chip on an iPhone but let me know in the comment down below what you think do you think Apple doing this is a little bit weird do you think they could have actually gotten Apple Intelligence on the iPhone 15 and 15 plus or do you really truly think that it there is a hardware limitation to those phones that Apple just cannot add it to there I wish Apple maybe at least even gave us the new Siri animation but I think Apple's trying to differentiate each one so people know what they're getting and what they're not getting let's see exactly
