Why Jimbo Fisher should Coach for a Group of 5 School

[Music] Jimbo Fisher has said that he's not counting out a return to college football he really pulled the Wolf of Wall Street and said I'm not leaving I'm not fing leaving K since we're the closest one to this how you feeling about that about say y'all boys go I I got this fight it doesn't surprise me cuz look I I think I mentioned this on a previous show but it seems throughout the year that he didn't mind getting fired he didn't really seem to care I mean the results definitely weren't there and I mean come on he knew that he was going to get paid 80 million if if we fired him right he was going to get paid 80 million to not do his job I mean does that not sound appealing to anyone I mean regardless of whether he actually was okay with getting fired or not the Love of the Game is is is undeniable in some people and I mean I'm sure that Jimbo still has feels like he has years left in him regardless of how the how his tenure in College Station ended um I'm not surprised that he wants to come back I'm not going to deny that he's he's an elite recruiter I mean somehow he managed multiple like top five classes the number one class of all time you know that year and then followed up with a five and seven season he there's definitely a a school probably in a group of five or maybe even a smaller power four school who would take him on I'm sure and especially because he would be only one of a handful of coaches who can say that they've won a national championship I mean Harbaugh is already gone sabin's now gone so you have you have Kirby Smart you have Dabo you have Mac Brown and Jim right like am I am I forgetting anyone like I mean that's that's something that that holds some weight unfortunately it did in College Station some people didn't want to fire him because oh he's w a Natty well that was way back when when college football looked completely different back when the I formation was still a viable method of gaining yards consistently you take that but it's it's it's not anymore right offenses have changed the game has changed there's a transfer portal right there's nil maybe Jimbo's just taking this time to readjust get used to some of these things as he um maybe has to just changed his approach but I know I I I'm not going to wish poorly on him should he go anywhere even though his time here in College Station wasn't the best uh it it doesn't surprise me though that he wants to come back yeah uh you know honestly with with Jimbo I I think you know clear heads prevail you know what I'm saying and I I truly believe that like with having the I mean he literally stepped into his next role having the controversy of Florida State now this is going to sound like I'm defending Quin uh Quin Jimbo Fisher here because I am now here's the thing I know some things that normal people don't know about what happened in Florida State and I'm just going to say I'm totally on Jimbo side regardless if people or not I'm going just put it like that I think any grown man every man woman and child has a number how many zeros can you put on that damn paycheck incorrect John Wick did not have a number that was the whole point of the movie well my my thing is man is like Jimbo Fisher is a national championship coach Jimbo fer constantly put out great defensive players in the NFL regardless of what former players I want to say like you play for him he helped develop you it is what it is he's a great recruiter like you said K he constantly puts out good quarterbacks I don't care what anybody says the SLE quarterbacks that he put out in the NFL you can add Kell M to that because he did play Max Johnson and Conor wigman are starters for both of their prospective teams like he had a and Hayes King exactly there's three right there off the rip so you can't tell me that this dude is a terrible coach because of the way that things happen and when you go down you go down as a unit like it just is what it is and it starts with the head coach first and then it trickles down from there the thing about Jimbo Fisher relaxing not forcing his way back into college football chilling out the one thing that Jimbo didn't want to do was adapt to the way that the game is being played today mhm you saw it at Texas A&M and you definitely saw it at Florida State the year that we won the National Championship is the year that we were so stack with talent that we just forced the ball down your throat we had two good running backs a slew of great wide receivers a Heisman winning the the best freshman quarterback of all time that we've ever seen because he won a national championship in the Heisman nobody can compete with that you know Jamie Swinson was the best fresh quarterback we've ever seen play and a stack defense every single year that he was there now you let this guy he he sat back he relaxed he didn't force his way back into college football and what's going to happen in my opinion and this is the only way that he can be successful again is to take the road Les travel go to a Max school try your hand at like a Kent State rebuild their program do do what Bronco menen Hall is doing right now with with New Mexico rebuild a team that has been historically bad or at least get them to a bowl game and then work your way back up try your hand his recruiting prowess when I don't know if you guys have ever heard Jimbo Fisher well of course you did CLE but like he can get you fired up like he gets you very convinced that you can go out there and run through a brick wall yeah and it it's handled exactly that way in recruiting as well so when he says don't count him not you know he's not counting on to return to college football I think was the was a right thing to say he he didn't really give a straight answer you know he just alluded to like yeah I mean when you're away from it for this long and you get that itch again you want to scratch it and of course all of us do as as a former player you don't think like I think I could go out there and just run through people yet until like the first couple of snaps and then my my ass is dog tired and ready to go and be like yeah I ain't built for this no more but all of us feel like we can do things that we probably are not able to do right um but at the end of the day I don't I don't mind his approaching back to this he's not being forceful about it and it seems like he's going to come back a little bit more humble knowing that the two situations that you just left were the Florida state thing people were frowning upon you there and then Willie tagger kind of you know took that pressure off of you you get somewhere in new like Texas A&M complaining about that you know you wanted better facilities in Florida State and then you had it had a couple top recruiting classes and then those kids end up all transferring out and the whole debacle at Texas A&M happened I get it man but those are things that you can put your feather in your cap with a smaller school look I'm going to be able to come here we're going to be able to recruit well and I'm going to be able to steal players that we probably shouldn't steal and I'm going to be able to put together a great coaching staff just game playing better you got to get with the times man the the old even Nick Sabin he had to adjust to the times that's why he brought in so many different coordinators the Lan Keens of the world and the Bill O'Brien those guys brought different schemes and he just worried about the defense because Nick Sav is a defensive guy Jimbo you got to get back to playing you know really hard-nosed football and getting a creative offensive coordinator in there maybe you know hopefully this doesn't happen but the Kenny Dillingham of the world if something happens to him at Arizona State that'll be a great pickup for him to go to like somewhere like Kent State pick up Kenny Dillingham who's or or or will well will I think willstein is gonna get a head coaching job after this season if they do well but you know those type of guys bring them in to run that spread offense the you know the RPO schemes and all that and get you some athletic quarterbacks like you used to getting and and and help A team out that's that's where I see Jimbo Fischer's career going and maybe he could find his way back in a you know if a Eli drinking Wiz or something decides to get a better job somewhere then come to like a Missouri and make them a Powerhouse or you know I don't think the Jonathan Smith experiment is going to work well up there in Michigan State maybe that's a place that you go you'll be in a hot bed of you know uh the Michigan and Ohio of the world if you go to a Kent State you already have that pipeline so I that's where I see him at man I don't know if I'm very off-kilter by thinking that but I think that that's the the best path for him at this point no I I agree and and I I'll just add one more quick thing I mean you look at um a guy like Tom Herman who after he was fired by Texas he spent I believe a year as an offensive analyst with the Chicago Bears then took another year off from football and is now the head coach at Florida Atlantic right it was you know a fall from Gray sure because he went from Houston getting a a five the first festar recruit to ever commit to a group of five School in Ed Oliver at the time to making the jump to Texas beating uh Georgia in in the Sugar Bowl and then getting fired like a year later to and having Casey Thompson do that too yeah I mean now he's at FAU it's it seems plausible that that if Jimbo does come back to coaching despite having won a Natty uh I I would I would guess that it would be at a group of five school just kind of based off of what it seems like others are doing and the demand for a coach who at his last destination was a little bit outdated and it's not like he's not used to it I think before he became a head coach he was San fr's head coach yes and that's where he graduated from and played ball at as well so yep and he's from West Virginia who knows what might happen with West Virginia if West Virginia's what's their coach's name Neil Brown Neil Brown if if Neil Brown ends up beating pit State they have a good season and they go to a big 12 championship and winning that you don't think bigger teams are going to be wanting to snatch him away Jimbo go back home go to West Virginia coach there you you're gonna already have the biggest pipeline ever is you being from that state M so Pat M would be a big fan of that oh yeah he would oh yeah he already had West Virginia number four y so anything to close us out of here sour send us home with Jimbo I mean again he was a coach for both of y'all I say that now and he's gonna become Florida's newest head coach KN knowing my Lu I don't I don't think that would happen he's complete the ECG Trifecta if if that happened I would have to call Dante that same day and be like you good bud like no I'll never forgive Jimbo now no you can't you can't just do that bro I defended you for this yeah I defend you all these years for this brother for this Damon uh but no I mean so kind of the full statement was quote there's only so much you can hunt and fish before you want to get back in uh I'll be watching a lot of film this year and see if there's right opportunity for me to get back into it next season so right there off the line of I'll be watching film kind of shows like what teams are either gonna you know move on from their head coach whether they're really good and the head coach gets brought on to a bigger school or they're really bad and they need a new head coach and also probably again just this year of or this off year to kind of like what you said KH just adjust to the whole new nil uh transfer portal you know maybe just if if he becomes a head coach just focuses on the defense and does exactly what s does just brings in talented offensive coordinators go deal with it or maybe he even just starts out as a defensive coordinator get his feet wet only has to worry about dealing with you know defensive recruits all that stuff and then again just small little baby steps until he's either back at a head coach at a small school a big school whatever I think this is just the year for him to get accustomed to all the new stuff that's happening um with niil and transfer like I mentioned earlier kind of you know see what schools need help or could use help again with the whole watching film whether it be as a defensive coordinator a head coach good or bad I mean dude's got pretty good Accolade accolades of winning a national championship having multiple good top five recruiting classes one of them being the number one so the dude's got a good resume right now he is just taking a year long Worth to figure out what his potential Next Step would be yeah yeah I mean I feel like all the power is kind of in Jimbo Jimbo Fisher's hand right know I mean people would be stupid enough not to go after him I mean his resume speaks for itself I wouldn't judge him on one bad stint with Texas A&M I mean that's that's they gave him a lot of power there too and yeah and it's not like it was all bad I mean A&M was arguably snubbed from the college football playoff in 2022 so it's like you know it it wasn't all bad I know that the last few years were bad CT with a loss to App State in Kyle Field but I mean let's not act like he's a terrible coach right like a group of was part of my prediction Texas A&M and and Georgia were going to be Alabama in the same year that was bold as [ __ ] and it Happ yeah I mean a group of five team would be incredibly blessed to have a coach like him Grace their campus again I will gladly take him yeah I mean even even power four teams I think would like him over their current option so yes yeah I don't I mean s If he if he goes to S if he goes to Florida they they're going to be good because just the just the fact alone that he'd want to get back in Florida State so bad oh it'd be beautiful I'd love every moment of it and& m I would name my first Jimbo I being Nam Jimbo it' be the Best of Both Worlds and I I don't think and if I remember him and chis ball do not get along either like they can't stand to be in the same room with perfect I see I don't see why you you got the Miami thing too he going Jimbo you mind if I call you Jim I know you're a big fan I know you watch this every week you know what must be done that's a quarter of the schedule right there dedicated to three teams that he wants to get back on listen can uh just just do whatever you can to keep DJ lagway please well here's the thing if if he gets hired I think that he he could hold on to a player like lagway I was the recruit about say I can't handle losing Billy and that's my biggest fear is if we lose Billy we lose lagway I don't care if we lose Billy if he's good great if he's terrible get rid of him but I can't lose lagway bro you know what Jimbo's gonna do to DJ he'd be like NFL NFL NFL NFL NFL NFL really brother yeah you want to stay here I got you you might not be good next level but I tell just ask Agway What
