Oh a sea scallop is a Center for refugees and asylum-seekers people that come here they generally said that it feels like their family and their new home and it feels like a safe space somewhere that they feel careful we help them to integrate into their community by supporting them with classes and of course a cafe that they consider relaxed and also provide language for them we also have a food bank but we give destitute time seekers food parcels and a boutique where we give people that have newly arrived with no clothes in their possession except the ones that wearing we give them clothes in a dignified manner I was Asylum here and it was very very a hard time so when we arrived here it was on the charity like you know Oasis to help us about the clothes and things by just running the the beauty shop and and I working at the voluntary I think this one is important part of the Oasis community because a lot of people who arrived from another country to UK usually they don't have clothes shoes and then you know something warm to wear so they cannot find it because if they go another you know charities they have to pay and they don't have money so here we just help them and give them a clothes free to be honest I like my my job here I love it [Music] we've had three lots since we've been here volunteers in the community and to volunteer here today and they're painting the sports hall which was really needed so there's lots of different groups we also have a lot of individual volunteers and they can come from the refugee and asylum seekers community as well as the local communities which is great because it brings people together so we wouldn't run without the volunteers and otherwise it'd just be to members of staff somedays trying to do everything and always use more or aunties and just to offer more particularly smaller English groups and things where they're not they're learning English without a formal setting you're lots of people who go into tons and tons of classes and then not actually practicing their English in a social setting when a volunteer with a way accessible many here I run the women's group on a Monday morning and we do a variety of things depending on needs etc informal English groups also largely discussion but it's a bit of teaching and I have a women's talk some discussion about recipes and feminism you never know when you're going to hear some horrific story or so many go to be aware these so all you can do maybe it's just to be and try and be sensitive to it and give people the opportunities the openings to talk if they wanna see it is very [Music] is a great thing I'm really proud of the stuff but we have not thought I would tell you but they are amazing team they will go that extra five miles to do something they will come in and help outs they never give up and they will do that extra bit our clients as well they are amazing herself [Music] [Music] there isn't another one like this it's a you know dropping sector a community center where there's no agenda this is just a very relaxed sort of family atmosphere or anybody can come through something like the nicest actually it makes it a very warm friendly place today we have people who've been part of Oasis enough about work and they come back to say thank you they come back and say you made a difference you know so that's that's all we're so good a lot of people I think I'm coming to help a refugee but they'll walk away and actually they've picked up some fantastic skills themselves I love doing it so many fantastic people and you know it's it's very special oh you're very privileged to be able to whatever help people think of it is amazing so we're thankful for everything and it doesn't have to be a big gesture little gestures all build up and make a big difference the logo voices is meant to be a drop of water and the ripple effect never underestimate what one person can do I think that that is really important [Music] [Applause]
