EA College Football Simulations Game 21 Boise State @Georgia Southern (8/31/24 Prediction)

welcome to Statesboro Georgia and what many refer to at the prettiest little stadium in America and home to the Georgia Southern Eagles but trust me it can get a little ugly if you come in here and you're not an eagle there's just something about the night cap after a day of wall toall football it just seems this is when chaos ensues as we'll see a squad from the mountain West the boisey State Broncos taking on a team from the Sun Belt the Georgia Southern Eagles for EA Sports college football I'm Rees Davis joined here in the booth as always by David Pollock and Jesse Palmer guys let's tee this one up Georgia Southern will kick it off to get things started he'll bring it out from inside his own 10 he was looking for more Running Room but none to be found as he stopped at the 3 the Broncos offense takes the field to start this game off and this big fella can beat you in a number of different ways in the passing game David yeah so much fun to have a guy that I can rely on that can beat guys over the middle of the field that can beat manto man coverage just gu the Ultimate Weapon and I love that this guy has an awesome catch radius you don't have to be perfect as a quarterback when you throw to him he can make you look good second down coming up halfway there on first down it's second and five keeping it on the ground with the running back he picks up maybe a couple before he stopped right at the 30yd line third down coming [Applause] they'll need three yards here on third down to keep this opening drive alive they'll try to pick up the first through the air finds his big tight end he will step out of bounds but not before the big pickup and a first down for this offense the Broncos come to the line with a freshh set of downs from the gun give on the inside is theun back game of four brings up second down after the productive first first down play it's second and [Applause] six looking for a physical attack from the gun and he didn't have a whole lot of operating room after the Juke not much room to run and runs like that are like body blows in a boxing match four five sixy gains early turn into 20 30 40 yd gains later they really wear down defenses and they test their physicality in the Dead center of the field as they try to convert this third and short they'll try to pick it up on the ground he's got enough to move the chains and they'll spot it at the 47 and I think on that last run play on third down here early in the game they're making a statement that we believe we're the more physical team and we're going to run the football even if you know it's coming at you nice job they got the ball at Midfield I expect to see more run plays coming up they'll ride the running back and leave it with him carrying the ball with an edge and hammering his way to the 40 this running back just doesn't go down easy it's just difficult for defenses to get him on the ground not overly huge but if I'm an offensive coordinator I'm going to continue to find ways to feature him and just you know what let his talent do the rest good spot after that seven yd pickup on first down it's second and three going to run it it's Genty just a solid stop by this sophomore third down coming they'll come to the line for the eighth snap on this opening drive facing a third and [Applause] short throws to the wide out it's caught gets it into the end zone but there is a flag down we'll see if this one is coming back so the decision has been made and the coach will take the penalty eighth play on this opening drive coming up and they need a third down conversion fires to the wide out all kinds of room to throw that one in there and you can see the offense just feeling itself they've got it down to the 21 we knew coming in that they wanted to push the ball down the field and they waste no time getting at it and I love that man I love being aggressive early setting a tone sending a message to my team listen we're going to attack down the field you better be ready for it this offense comes out gets the big completion way down the middle of the field comes out throwing on first down got the Quick Pass and he'll run across the sidelines after the good gain well this defense is you used to seeing this fullback just slam up on in there trying to block people now you release him out of the back field to see if you can catch the defense off guard operating in the Red Zone here on second [Applause] down out of the gun the running back has it oh he gave him the limp leg and he'll race it to the house touchdown boyy State a methodical Drive Soul crushing Spirit breaking and it ends in a touchdown and listen I know everybody wants the big plays the big long touchdowns and all that stuff but putting a drive together like that is very difficult to do time and time again and it's demoralizing for the defense great drive by the offense he'll try to add another to their lead and the pat makes it 7 nothing so an 82 yd drive there and the Capper came on the run to The End Zone from the 13 lining up to cover the kick after that touchdown drive to kick it off here he comes from inside his own five really disciplined job by the coverage unit to get down there and make the stop at the 19 so Georgia Southern's offense will try to get something going with their first possession and how about this matchup of a couple of guys who just don't get tired and and don't mind being handed the football Jessie and I love this matchup too because in modern football it's all about throwing the ball and spread and Tempo and Aid offenses let's go back to toading the Rock old school two of the best running backs in the business year and the defenses now like they know the challenge they know these guys are going to tow it they got to be physical committing guys to the Box not letting these running backs have success today Georgia Southern in a hurry from the gun they'll try to impose their will and he's a real Nowhere Man tackled in this no gain land stopping the run is very high on every defensive coordinator's list making the team onedimensional nice job stuffing the run on that play right there facing a third down and short from the 26 [Applause] Williams will pass got his man quickly that's the kind of play that can really get you going as they get it out to the 36 and that wasn't easy pitch route on third down with tight coverage the receiver doing a great job shielding the defender away from them catching it and getting the first Georgia Southern about to snap it on another first and 10 [Applause] they'll run it out of the shotgun and I think they'll give him two on that one second and eight coming up brings up second [Applause] down they get to the line quickly he wants to pass it on second down they've got the screen set up didn't have much room to run and not a whole lot of help short game there and still plenty of ground to cover for the first down well this offense will screen you in a variety of ways they'll throw receiver screens tight end screens the running back screen also a big part of what they like to do like you just saw there they've got it at the 41 third and short trying to keep the chains moving from the gun wants to pass gets it out quickly nice pick up there gets him the first down and sets him up at the 45 yd line hard work pays off Guys these offenses work so hard week in week out working on those critical down and distances third downs and having that conversion this early in the game that's got to feel good for this offense the eagles look to keep this drive humming leaves it with the back they'll pick up four second and Six coming up second down tried to pound it on first down now back to the line on the move it's white and the defense holds firm no pickup at all on that play this is a defense that we know takes tons of Pride stopping the Run that's where it all starts and ends with them and you saw a great effort on that last play and the Eagles headed quickly to the line [Music] Williams looking for a man fires to the big fella and he couldn't quite get to the marker and that's going to bring up a fourth down just not able to shake enough Defenders and comes up a little bit short and I think a lot of times on third down ree you bet on your guy when you're an offensive guy you say okay he's going to break a tackle he's going to get north and south and somehow get the first down nice tackling by the defense understanding where they had to get to and forcing the fourth down punt goes out of bounds and a really nice job as they stick them deep in their own end they'll mark it around the 10 they think they can create space here with the run to the right what a Nifty run there to pick up the first down it's so nice as an offense to know you can generate explosive plays by handing the football off to this guy he has got incredible speed they'll snap it from the 26 on first down they're getting this guy lathered up defense in the right spot they stop him after a gain of two to the 28 2 y brings up second picked up two yards on that last one they need eight on second down they'll Run play action unloads to the wide out complete to the left he's run out of bounds but not before turning in a big pickup and moving the sticks for a first down play action does so many things when you run the football and run the football and have success it slows everybody down not just the linebackers and the safties and make them come up but the defensive line they're thinking run as well slows down the pass rush gives me a little bit more time to develop routes and make it really easy on my quarterback off the play fake on first down to throw he's got it inside the 25 and they'll finally catch up to him but not before a big chunk of yardage is picked up and they took a shot I I like it make the big play once you start getting closer to the goal line you start running out of space Jesse now this big Play Down in the Red Zone in a scoring position yeah and it was a nice job too David of the quarterback letting the coverage dictate where he threw the football that wasn't a force that wasn't a predetermined decision that time he was looking at the safeties who was reading whether it was zone or man he found his matchup and here they go now they got the ball down in the Red Zone when you're a defensive guy and you want to fire in you want to go hit the quarterback but you know if I fire in he's just going to give the football up you got to be patient you got to understand what your responsibility is then you see when he keeps the football you got to go tag him but the problem is these guys are such good athletes they're so hard to catch once they do pull the football but it's kind of like the hidden hat trick you know where's the ball it's underneath this one no I pick this one up no it's gone it's under this one nope there it is it's gone and I think that might be an example of the running back maybe trying to do a little bit too much everybody wants to try to bounce the ball outside and hit the home run but in college football at this level you just need to do a a better job taking what the defense gives it they line up and it is a long way to the sticks from here looking for a man it's Nelson good timing on the quick out man and that's just making it way too easy on the defense they're laughing at that short they're like really okay we'll just make an easy tackle and Jog our punt return team out on the field we're going to make it that easy for us and on fourth down they'll try to salvage the drive with a field goal no good and the margin remains at seven after the minut well that's one the kicker would like to have back that's a kick he should be making [Music] in Georgia Southern has it back and here comes the offense again they reached deep in the Playbook used almost all of them it seemed Jesse and still ended up having to punt last time and I think on this next Drive David you can go back to some of the stuff that worked that last drive too find the things that you had success with you just got to be able to build on yeah and just break that extra tackle you know make that extra play make the guy Miss put a drive together so you can finish with some points George the southern in a hurry he's going to pass fires downfield caught over the middle it's Walton he's brought down but there's a flag on the field let's see what the call is the officials offer the deal and the coach accepts it they will take the penalty fast motion from the offense from the gunun running back on the move they bring him down but a solid pick up to put them in position to pick up a first down the 3 yd L brings up second down and on second down for this offense [Applause] on the ground with the counter nowhere to run on that one he loses four on the carry what a good job by the defense to force that play outside and it's tough when you're a defense and you like to play fast and aggressive those counter plays are usually something that's good to run at them but if you can be smart and stay sound and stay home and understand when people start pulling your direction forget the fakes the other way you can stay home be productive get big plays like this for your defense and he's not going to make it the defense denying him the first down at the 36 yd line now fourth down Georgia Southern brings on the punt team this will be the second time they've had to kick it away they'll get down and put a stop for this return they'll mark it at the 32 boyy state has it back ready to go to work on offense to throw it's Nelson they're trying to get to it fires into traffic it's picked off and they'll close in on him after a good return on the interception what a big game changing play I love when you see defensive players they jump on the ball like they were the offensive guy so aggressive going and getting that pick creating some big Mojo for your [Music] team fly get set first [Applause] down rush coming in hot and they got him at the 29 how nice is it as a defense when you can drop seven guys in a coverage only Rush four and still get home that makes you feel good if you're the de coordinator Georgia Southern in a hurry trying to make that Rush think on the draw play here he's brought down but not before they pick up the big first down beautiful play call offensively at the perfect time in that situation the defense obviously expecting pass so they sneak the draw in and gash the defense both teams wanted to establish the run and they have done exactly that in the first quarter lots of time left and we're ready to get back to it and open the second period they've moved to the 16 it's first and 10 they're going to ride this running back he's all the way down to the three showed it all on that run but right away after picking up a first down they go right back to their playmaker at running back and I love the push they got up front getting a hat on a hat opening a huge hole for the back and you become so hard to defend when you can run the football successfully on first down you're starting like that now what opens up play action now you're making me play pass and run this offense if they can create that run physicality now it opens up everything else yeah what a great job by the defense you got to understand it's physical time right they want to run the football and they start getting inside the five nice job getting penetration getting the tackle for the loss after getting knocked back it's second and goal from the four now they're going to throw it pocket starts to collapse ball into the end zone and it's intercepted and it just turns out to be a missed opportunity you get the ball in the red zone and you turn it over momentum it plays a big role for teams and especially for offenses and when you have chances like that when you're down in this area of the field you've got to be able to come away with points even if it's not going to be a touchdown you are not leaving this area of the field without putting at least three up on the board missed opportunity for the O boy he State ready to send out that offense well let's see if this drive goes better than the last one they were in and out quickly after the quick pick David yeah first play big mistake man now let's get this offense in a little bit of a rhythm maybe before you open it up again Palmer or do you trust him right away uh he seems to me like the guy maybe that just needs to kind of get into the flow of the game so maybe you get the running game going here and just give him some easy looks to let him get lathered up cranking up a drive like that can really get you going it's first down from the 44 he wants to throw quick strike complete and a nyd gain on first down leaves him with second and short up brings up second down off the bootleg to buy a little space not much of a chance there he just had to get rid of it to avoid the [Applause] sack went up top on second down that leaves him needing a yard here on third down fires to the big fella that'll be enough for the first down as they stop him at the 43 yd line David that is a great security blanket for a quarterback to have a tight end to make those conversions dang right find the big fella on Third and short Dependable clutch nice hands first down and the Broncos have this offense rolling the give to the back and the defense finally makes the stop after the sweet run and good gain you know as a defense you can have the right call and the right guy in the right spot but that guy's just too good and how about the running back on that play just making it happen breaking off the huge game it's tough to get these guys on the ground the Broncos come to the line with a new set of downs quarterback on the keeper he's there to make the stop it doesn't matter what Run play you have called if you're running it inside or outside if the defense gets penetration everything is done and you saw it on that play right there great job by the dud now on second down dropping back it's Nelson going to try to pop one on the screen finally run out of bounds but he has this offense rolling with a first down well they pick up the first down there on the screen I love the offensive line there allowing the pass rush to get way up the field they completely baited their guys made them think that they got beaten that they were going to get the sack and then they sneak the running back SC right in behind them and pick up the first Power football ball with the Run they'll finally get him stopped at the one yd line what a run there well it's a really nice job of the offense mixing it up on this drive we've seen some nice plays throwing it and how about that one running it too great push up front and the Broncos are threatening on first and goal they'll try to get it in with the run into the end zone he goes touchdown Broncos this defense is going to have to do a better job being physical that's two rushing touchdowns they've now allowed they have got to be better close to the line of scrimmage [Music] ready to try the point after for the extra point and with the extra point they pushed the lead out a little further they put together an 81 yd drive and they capped it off with a one yd punt about to kick it off after punching it in for the touchdown kick one away he'll start the return inside his SP he was hoping for something a little more dyamic but they get him on the ground at the 20 Georgia Southern has it back ready to go to work on offense now we'll get a chance to see if they can answer that last score trailing by 14 Jesse Yeah and at this point of the game I feel like offensively you should go back to what's been working for you in this game don't be afraid to dial up plays that you've already had success with running it and throwing it it's okay to repeat plays down 14 at this point and I would also say Palmer kind of understanding that my defense is not playing great so I know offensively I got to put some good possessions together here make something happen on this side of the football finds his way ahead for five and now they've got it at the [Music] 28 Georgia Southern in a hurry they'll try to bully their way for the first brought to the ground but not before getting it up for the first down and I just love when guys go exactly where the sticks are you could tell ran with purpose finished through the sticks and got just enough for the first down and a nice job up front too right good communication everybody knew where they had to go hat on a hat work the double teams and get some push holds and fires complete to the right they make the stop after the catch and still some work to do to pick up that first down I really like this slot receiver because of his shiftiness and you see that on his route run really really nice job creating separation for his QB a lot of urgency for this offense Williams will pass pass trying to burn this defensive back it's caught and what a job to get the foot down and make it a huge gain along the sideline and as a quarterback you know when you're throwing a corner route the football is going to travel a long distance so you've got to have great time you've got to get the ball out of your hands before the receivers come out of his break you've also got to put a lot of air under the pass so the wide receiver can locate it you can tell this quarterback has thrown a ton of these routes in practice takes a hand off it's white you'll take four yards on first down every time second and six that's a really nice play it's impressive when it's first down and the defense thinks you might be running the football you still can line up you can get some movement at the point of attack and find a little crease for your running back linebackers moving trying to confuse the quarterback solid pick up of four on first down it's second and six from the gun running back gets to give they'll give him one to the 28 yd line and that's what you're trying to do as a defense limit those damages when they run the football get them on the ground short gains to set your defense for positive situations down the road a little less room to work with now as the ball is at the 28 and it's third and long gives it to the back on the draw he got a bunch and looked close to getting a lot more but he's got the first down well that's kind of the advantage of third and medium right is the defense you keep him guessing you can throw it you can run it that time they hand it off they pick it up and you can see the d drop back a little bit it creates a little bit of space the running back blasts through gets the first down out of the shotgun they go to the ground how about that the Herman run inside the Red Zone he's got six it's down at the 12 the Eagles will hustle to the line motion from the offense quarterback flips it ahead quickly to the receiver and he was fortunate not to lose yardage on that play able to wedge it back to the line of scrimmage great heads up awareness by the cornerback on that play he saw the receiver get the ball he shot downhill and made a nice tackle boy they'd love to pick up this conversion and go to work with a first and goal they go to the draw and they're able to get a third down stop here see if they go for it on Fourth yeah and that's a really good job by the defense cuz when you get in that third and medium area listen you got to be worried about the run and the pass did a good job playing both got it stopped now forcing a fourth down now looks as if they'll settle for the field goal [Applause] try it's good he hit that one right down the middle 14 [Music] [Music] after putting three on the board the kickoff unit ready to go on the run from inside his own five couldn't find a way to create that Broken Field field as he stopped at the 25 the Bronco offense back out there ready to give it another spin hand off to the single running back makes one man miss and he runs through one tackle and picks up a few when running backs Square their shoulders up it's when they have the most power you see him Square his shoulders up break tackles be strong continue to plow his way forward just making it really easy on everybody in this offense by breaking tackles that kind of pick up on on first down and you can take a shot here on second and short at the 45 on it way and he almost ran away from everybody on that one a huge pick up on that play those outside runs if they can get the edge like they do great job by the Right Guard right tackle getting the edge and now what does this do this makes cornerbacks come up in tackle safeties come up in tackle as opposed to linebackers and big defensive players you get your guy out space where he can use his speed and his physicality against guys that usually cover and don't come up and make tackles they' hoped to come up with explosive plays and they used one there to set them up inside the 30 first and 10 they weren't able to get that one off it will be a delay of game delay of game offense the offense couldn't get the snap off in time and it'll cost them after the setback the offense gets set for a first and 15 sweet cut there they'll get him on the ground after a pick up of three to the 2 second and the running back didn't get much there nice job by the defense you can tell they're focused in on this running back on this run game being physical getting knockbacks and limiting his carries after trying the running game on first down they come to the line on second down on the ground it's Genty finds just enough room to pick up a couple down to the 26 at the 26 yd it's third down [Music] they're close enough for a makeable field goal from the 26 but they'd love to convert this third and long back to throw it's Nelson fires to the wide out got his man to the left they get him down but this offense is set up first and goal from the nine and that is a huge conversion on Third and long for the offense I think a lot of people thinking hey we're just going to try to get a couple yards help our kicker out here to kick a field goal but instead they get a massive play and now all of a sudden they're thinking touchdown here first and goal they'll run it on first and goal and maybe he'll get back to the line of scrimmage but no more than that maybe that stop is a good sign for this defense maybe the defense is starting to figure it out obviously offense has been running the football with so much success something has to change that was a good start defense rolls up deep in its own in on that last play now a second and long coming they'll keep it on the ground right up the gut looking for six he'll pick up three before he's down at the six this has been really good for the defense too it's kind of the Ben don't break mentality right really Bo up with your backs against the wall if you can win this next third down try to force the opponent into a field goal that's a win if you're on defense the eighth play of the drive coming you'd hate to settle for a field goal it's third and goal going for six and he wanted to get the score right there but it falls incomplete and that is a huge missed opportunity for the quarterback you've got your guy wide open in the end zone you're not under pressure you just got to hit him that ball got away and that's one he'd like to have back and for the second time tonight they'll Trot out the field goal kicker from the left hash and this distance ought to make that angle pretty easy to handle righted to give it enough Body English but he missed it after the miss the lead still at 11 that's just a chip shot that's just a field goal they got to make [Music] guys Georgia Southern has it back and here comes the offense again they're going to have to be more aggressive in this drive you can't expect to win this one David kicking field goals now especially when you're trailing you got to have a little more urgency and maybe a little more aggressiveness Jesse and field goals are not going to get it done down the stretch yeah you're going to have to take some shots no doubt bottom line when plays present themselves you just simply got to make [Music] it Georgia Southern in a hurry off the play fake on first down makes his [Music] connection second down coming up Williams looking for a man and he really needed to hold on to that one but it was not loose and third down is coming and now let's see if the offense can bail itself out after the second down missfire on Third and long he has to throw for it let's it Fly he's got an open man and perhaps a touchdown saving tackle as they get him down at the 37 [Music] the they'll rush to the line clock stopped for the first down they'll set the chains and wind the clock he's looking to throw it and the physical play there forces the incompletion on first down Z second down here comes the offense on second down they're going to throw it again good quickness to grab it off the balance all the way down to the 25 yd line they move the sticks it's first down how about that heads up play you're coming out of the back field and all of a sudden the ball's in your bread basket yeah how about that just seeing the ball tipped up reflected in the air the running back's like all right I I'll take it I'll make the catch that goes down in the stat book as a catch this first half of offense won't go on the Highlight Reel so far but starting to get things moving it's first and 10 makes a grab and he's dragged down nice job by the defense staying glued to him getting him on the ground as soon as he catches the football knowing he's a threat I'm not going to let this I get out of my sights nice job by the D they're about to snap it for the seventh time on this drive Williams will pass out of the back field he's open and they wrap him up but not before he's got enough for the first down a timeout is called as this offense tries to find a way to get more points on the board before the half Georgia Southern about to snap it on another first and 10 they're threatening to score and they'll throw it fires to the tight end and not much doing there as that defense runs him out of bounds must be nice for this quarterback knowing he's got this type of athlete playing the tight end position that can work the middle of the field form he's a guy who can stretch it vertically as well but this is a guy the QB will look for early and often in this game quarterback wants to throw on second down looking to scramble and he gets it just beyond the line of scrimmage before he gets down there's a Timeout on the field tight game here late in the first half welcome to the frustrating reality of college football like the guy at the quarterback spot he can just do that pull it down get positive yards makes the defense have to account for him every single play looking to the end zone that one was way too far for anybody to catch except ticket holders and that's just a huge Miss opport on offense QB missed his guy wide open in the end zone you might not get another clean look like that in the rest of this game and here they come going for the first down on Fourth and two the snap sets up to throw he's got they make the tackle just outside the end zone but it'll be first and goal from the one that's a great example of the receiver knowing exactly where the first down marker is he got the depth needed to get so once he was able to make the catch he already knew he had it now a fresh set of downs Williams looking for a man he's got it in the end zone touchdown eagle and I tell you what that passing touchdown man that should spark this whole team like The Comeback is more than on now like they got the touchdown they cut into the lead you want to get a stop and go into the half get all the juices all the excitement and be like listen the passing game's rolling we got this the comeb back's in full [Music] effect lining up for the pat for extra point and with the extra point they cut the lead to 1410 precise Relentless execution on that 13-play scoring drive it was capped off by a one- yd touchdown pass the kickoff unit about to go to [Applause] work looking for an alley from inside his own 10 finds just enough space to cross the 25 let's mark it at the 27 yd Line running out of time here in the first half they're going to have to be efficient to put some points on the board before the break that's what you expect from a senior don't give them any extra yards great tackle there first half in the books time now to join Kevin Connor in our halftime update gentlemen youve had yourselves a superb broadcast so far today in Statesboro and I get it a lot of coaches will say the difference between winning and losing comes down to stopping big plays and getting big plays but if you ask me it's more about how good you are on third down and how efficient you are in keeping drives alive those two stats can help you break the will of even the best defenses and help you come out on top and with that lent send it back to the guys inside the prettiest little stadium in America the Broncos will kick it off to start the second half K one away just into the end zone and he'll bring it out stopped at the 17 and he's probably second guessing that return Georgia has it back ready to go to work on offense they'll open the second half on the ground able to pick up a couple before he's dragged down at the 19 Georgia Southern in a hurry wide receiver shows motion quarterback touch pass on the Jet Sweep just searching and working for the Running Room as he gets it out to the 26 all right so not a home run play for the offense but I do like the creativity and I like how they're going to stress this defense and do it in less conventional ways now looking for that first down on Third and short from the 26 they'll stick to the ground looking for the marker he'll make a play on third down he's got enough for the first as they mark it at the 32 man those little chunks keep annoying the crud out when you're on defense it's just putting them in Easy situations chewing up four to six yards at a pop like that puts you in a bad situation as a defensive coordinator what do I call either way priority number one we got to stop the run to the air on first down that's caught it's Burgess man down on the play as the officials take a break to let him be checked out let's see what they've got on second down Williams will pass quickly complete defense on skates that time they finally drag him down the 42 and I love the quarterback's a hit him in stri man hit him where he can catch the football and continue to run and do more damage after the catch like he did right there Georgia Southern really efficient on offense gets it out fast good solid pickup there now they can start to smell it with a first down at the 31 nice route there by the tight end making it real easy for his quarterback to find an easy [Music] completion and the Eagles will line it up on First and 10 out of the gun the inside hand off looking for a crease coaches always harp about staying ahead of the chains and when you can run with that type of efficiency on first down man you are doing just that got eight on first down now looking at a second and two they'll go to the ground that ought to be enough to move the chains and give Georgia Southern a first down it's great awareness by the running back understand where the first down marker is and doing whatever it takes to [Music] get they're down to the 20 first and 10 from the Red Zone looking for a receiver using the quick game smashes through the tackle and he'll run out of bound just short the goal I wanted to get it in but couldn't quite get home that's just really nice catch by the big tight end throwing those Ms up there catching the football Georgia Southern will have it now first and goal used the play fake now to throw nowhere to go and the ball is loose picks up the ball and tries to make something of it well the offense is able to avoid disaster right there problem is they fumbled it but thankfully they were able to jump back on and not have a turnover defense roll up deep in its own end on that last play now a second and long coming Williams looking for a man got his man quickly and there is able to get him down I don't know who on defense is going to cover this guy honestly he could be a problem for this defense over the middle of the field and passing third and goal from way back there from the gun wants to pass he's got it on the move and the defense had that one well covered just a short game there you know the tight end's going to have to do a better job of separating and giving his quarterback a place to go with the football that time just couldn't create it and as a result as soon as he made the catch he was brought to the ground setting up fourth down and here comes the field goal unit for the second time tonight right on target the first time now he'll try another from 24 yds out right down the boulevard it's good 14 GE 1 [Music] [Music] after that last field goal Drive they're set to kick it away from inside the 10yd line he bring it back he was looking for more Running Room but none to be found as he stopped at the 23 boyy state has it back ready to go to work on offense looking for space it's jenty brought down at the 33 but not before he gets 10 another good run man he has been picking up yards in bunches today Jesse showing off all the skills and he's showing no signs of slowing down David this guy just gets better as the game goes on he is a beast and this set of downs gets started from the 33 first and [Applause] 10 gets it out quickly nice pitch and catch there and they'll have enough for the first down wo boy this freshman quarterback has a hose did he Zing that thing in there and the Broncos one to move [Applause] quickly off the play fake on first down to throw he looks at one in nicely they stop him just a link or two short of the first and man what they can do on second down here you know that's a great job by the receiver on that curl route there's a lot of receivers that finish the route and they just stopped and that allows the DB to close the gap and then knock the ball away nice job by that receiver continuing to come back to his QB and they drag him down but not before he picked up the first down this offense has to get this guy the ball in as many ways as possible he showed you all of his tools on that last play the Broncos have it with a first and 10 might as well give it to him again after the pick up of nine it's second and one how nice is it as a play caller when you've got a running back as good as this guy right I mean you can just dial up conservative run calls nothing has to be too tricky too fancy you just know he's going to go make good things happen even when it's not blocked properly he is still finding ways to rip off long runs this guy now has over 150 yds rushing in the game doesn't look like he's slowing down guys he's R out of bounds after the big gate and they are in business first and goal we've seen really nice balance here on this drive quarterback's three for three he's picking this defensive part they've also run the ball well too and here they are down close to the goal line this defense has no idea what's coming next and the Broncos will try to put one on the board on first and goal they'll try to get it in with the Run and they Corral him at the 2yd line all right they've shown this formation a lot of times especially in the first half now what do they do they show the formation pull some guys and run a counter backside beautiful play design way to adjust in the second half they've moved it forward to the two now it's second and [Applause] goal go straight ahead he's dropped behind the line of scrimmage that'll be a loss of three now listen the defense won that play as an offense here the key David you can't go backto back negative plays you got to be smart with the football here looks like you're going to have to throw it you just can't force it you got to make sure you're playing with that clock in your head can't take a sa and I think this is a situation where I spread you out I get more speed on the field I make the defense to CL he snares it in the end zone touchdown Broncos and how about the offense they spread them out everybody spread wide easier to read a defense when you do that they find the matchup they want and they get rewarded with the score lining up to attack one more on that lead and with the extra point it's 21-13 they marched 78 yds down the field and they cap the drive with a four yd touchdown pass the kickoff team takes the field to boot this one away number5 set to kick this one away and he'll just take a knee and this drive will start at the 25 Georgia Southern has it back and here comes the offense again out of the gun the inside K tackle is made at the 28 after a pick up of three small game I know but again the defense knows he's going to run the football he's willing to run the football not just drop back and pass make him on to the Run game you got to do a lot of this Georgia Southern in a hurry [Applause] quick release on the RPO there to make the tackle but the big throw is good enough to give them aever down we see another catch by this guy this defense is going to need to do a better job of tackling the catch in coverage I know they want to slap the ball away but if you can't do it and force the incompletion you've got to at least make sure you're able to drag him down to the ground as soon as he catches the ball coming out on first down with the play fake and the ball comes out what a disastrous play does it always seem like that ball is on the ground for like 30 seconds you got 17 guys running at it in slow motion like I got to get the football offense very lucky lucky to get that football back they'll try to put it in drive this time on second down from the 22 Williams will pass gets rid of it finds his big tight end so an ex example of a tight end doing a little unheralded work to set up a much better third down situation and I like the QB here Reese I like the decision where I understand let's get this football out let's get some positive yards and then get to third down and we can still have a better situation now because we got rid of the football and took the yards that were there on Third and long he'll need to loosen up that arm brings it down on the right side you know sometimes as a play caller you just don't have to overthink things I've got a guy who's faster than your guys and he's just going to run straight down the field I'm going to throw it way down the field he's going to make the catch and we're going to score a touchdown and that's pretty much what just happened there [Music] they opt to go for two to try to tie it up right now he's looking to pass buys a little extra time he's into the end zone two-point conversion is good and we've got a tie game [Applause] [Music] all tied up from just about set to kick it away kick on the move from inside is five not a lot of space to be found good Hustle by the coverage team and they stop him at the 21 boyy State ready to send out that offense they'll throw it on first down he makes a catch and they'll spot it at the 38 and that'll be plenty for the first down and because the receiver was able to drive back to the QB on that curl route against man coverage he was able to create a little bit of separation between him and the defender and that was a big key in getting that first down the Broncos in the hurry up they'll run it to the right shakes off a tackler and the freshman does a great job using his technique and getting the man on the ground at [Applause] y got three on first down at second and seven the run from the shotgun really nice run there good solid pickup and they'll move the sticks with a first down well no surprise I mean with the way they're running the ball early in this game they're just going to keep doing it and they're just not hammering out two three four y gains they're gashing this defense you saw it right there and the Broncos will have it first and 10 from the gun he leaves it with the back and he's able to bounce off one tackle but still not a whole lot of running room up four brings up second down after the productive first down play it's second and six hand off to the single back at the 35 he's open all kinds of Running Room they make the tackle but he's got a fresh set of downs and it's first and goal from the seven I love that play call this offense is going to run the football they're not just going to do it between the tackles but they're going to attack you outside you saw that with that handoff they get to the right they get him in space using his speed good play call after that huge gain now a chance to cash it in from just outside the five they'll keep it on the ground for first and goal Relentless tough running gets it down to the four and down here near the goal line you got to be physical and this guy's proven it today Palmer they've given it to him he's put it in the end zone twice already I'm going to keep featuring him so you know the defense is going to be keying him too right because he's hurting him a little bit in this game already they're going to be finding a way to try to get some penetration anticipating this guy to touch it again he works his way all the way down to the three and the defense is [Applause] reeling they relentlessly move forward now it's getting down to qu's Third and goal back to throw it's Nelson they're bringing Heat and the quarterback caught up two and sacked at the 12 just a great job defensively making him go go through his progressions and he really didn't have time to do it and that's exactly what you do in zone coverage you drop in your spots you read the quarterback's eyes make sure you take away that quick stuff and a great job rushing the passer and getting the sack and they're going to head out the line up for a field [Applause] goal between the upright it's good and guys after the field goal now they have the lead4 GE 21 [Music] [Applause] so they're lining up to kick it off after that last Drive put a three spot on the board and now the defense will try to shut him down bringing it out he's brought down at the 16 would have been much better off to take the touch back Georgia Southern has it back ready to go to work on offense how about that last drive just carved him up in the air David yeah and how about that quarterback you gave him the ball and he delivered the goods great job taking apart the defense Jesse on that last he really did David I mean that was a master class in just reading coverage and being accurate the Eagles are in the hurry [Applause] up Williams looking for a man got out of trouble and throws quick strike complete and they make the tackle but it'll be enough for a first down and we'll see if they get another playoff here in the third these two quarterbacks have produced as we check out their numbers after three one more period to go to see who can make the winning plays and come home with the victory they've got it at the 37 it's first and 10 and a good solid pick up for the defense Cuts him down at 4 brings up second down after the productive first down play it's second and [Applause] six off the play fake he's going to let one fly down the middle and he's got it at the 15 yd line and the tackle was made but not before that completion gets him 30 plus and how about the big strike down the field I love when offenses take shots down the field try to make big plays now they're set up in the Red Zone Georgia Southern really efficient on offense [Applause] quick completion to the right and a good job of coverage by that defense just a short pick [Music] up going to work on second down in the red zone is still some ground to cover to pick up that first down he's looking to throw throw makes the grab it's white that completion will take them inside the 10 to the N yd line they were able to get the ball to the running back in space but that space just evaporated a great job by the defense man it's tough to get those guys on the ground they're so used to being having the football as running backs and making plays and being Dynamic so usually one guy not going to get him to the ground you want many guys swarming to the football try to get that elusive gu touchdown eagles they move on top here in the fourth and some of these guys make it look so easy but these are tight windows down here man there's not a lot of space on the field and he drops back knows exactly where he's going with the football throws it in there makes the play and more importantly now his team is in the lead in the fourth quarter ling up to add another kicker on for the extra [Applause] point and the extra point is good and every Point counts it's now a fourpoint lead in the fourth [Music] score almost ready to kick it away after scoring the touchdown [Music] now he'll bring it back from inside to spot nice job executing all of the assignments as they put a stop to that return at the 22 the Bronco offense back out there ready to give it another spin guys that last trip a little disappointing having to take the three yeah I think Jesse you see so many offenses talk about getting yards and the tempo and all the stuff they do was a nice job moving the football but they got to get in the end zone this time yeah and I think to do that they just got to be more physical at the point of attack get some push up front they need to be the best running team in this game to win didn't get much on first down it's second and nine looking downfield it's Nelson throws to the wide out a strike downfield and the explosiveness the big Gainer gets it to the 49 yd line man if I'm a defense I got to find a way to get some more pressure on the quarterback or disrupt their timing in their Rhythm I can't give them these big chunk plays through the air I got to be maybe a little bit more aggressive or do something a little bit different the Broncos want to crank the tempo looking to move it through the air unloads to the wide out got his man downfield and they are finding some space in this defense he's got it down to the 25 and I love when you understand when I'm supposed to put some RPMs on that football you could tell he's thrown over the middle of the field he knows he's got Defenders there I got to throw this thing in there quick fast in a hurry nice job by the quarterback looking to go up top on first down and it's incomplete if you're going to take a hit like that you might as well hang on to the ball the big tight end man tries to make a catch and you could tell extends for the ball but great job by the defender getting in there making the hit dislodging the football out as the same time as he's going to catch it and the big tight end couldn't hold on to it one back in the back field he gets to carry [Applause] ball is at the 20 they'll try to convert this third and short from the gun wants to pass firing to the right complete put it right on him sweet play good pickup and they'll move the change with the first down and there was no question in that scenario that's where the quarterback was going he knew he had his receiver in a matchup that he liked running a route where he would find himself opening nice job between those two fullbacks got it they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one and he is stuffed and I think the reason these stuff there is think about it the only time you really give the ball to the fullback is short yarded situations the defense knew it was coming played it fast played it physical and stopped them for a big loss going to work in the Red Zone they can't can't pick up the first down without getting it into the end zone give to the running back he is going nowhere stop at the line of scrimmage stopping the run is about physicality it's about I'm bigger than you I'm stronger than you up front really nice job by the defense showing their strength bowing up stuffing the run really need to pick up this conversion and avoid having to settle for the field goal trying to move the stick on third down through the air touchdown boyy State and they've moved out front here in the fourth boy State that's number two on the day having a day I mean you know he's going to catch the football and you know he's going to make plays after he catches those are the kind of guys that you feature and you find them and they produce like this you keep finding them [Music] [Applause] needs this one to push the lead to a field goal and it's good and he pushes the lead to three he marched 78 yds down the field and they finish it with an 11 yd touchdown Dart they're lining up to boot it away kick off and he takes this from inside the five nice job executing all of the assignments as they put a stop to that return at the 22 Georgia Southern has it back and here comes the offense again forced out of the pocket on the run and he'll slide to avoid the hit a Nifty pick up there I think he did a really good job first of all keeping his eyes down field you could see he wanted to throw the football but when it's not there Don't Force It tuck it down get some positive yards Georgia Southern in a hurry the playaction fake he lobs one high down the left side and they'll finally bring him down after he rips off a huge play and now he's in the 400 play 40 that's a pretty good day at the office when you're putting up over 400 yards his defense hadn't had a lot of answers they've crossed Midfield at the 45 with a first and [Applause] 10 he'll keep it himself and this one will be stopped for No Gain really nice job by the defense playing responsibility football making sure the quarterback couldn't make any of his reads making sure the picture is not clear getting downhill getting the quarterback on the ground no huddle here for the offense from the gun the ground game and he's able to shed one tackle and pick up pretty good yardage listen you you got to be able to know what play to call and what hole to go through like the line blocks for a certain hole good job getting through the hole getting what was blocked getting a nice positive game making your situation really good on the next down wants to throw on third fires to the right he's got it they'll get him stopped just short of the end zone but they're in business here with the first down and on that third down that play is set up to beat man-to-man coverage you see the receiver the ball gets thrown out in front of him and he's able to get away from the defender make some people Miss use the speed setting up first and goal and a touchdown here would not only give them the lead but in the fourth quarter that ramps up the pressure turning to the running game on first and goal touchdown Eagles they've got the lead here in the fourth and this offense really showing their physicality running the football when it matters in the fourth quarter in crunch time to take the lead in this football [Music] they'll try to add another to their lead extra point and the extra point is good and every Point counts it's now a fourpoint lead in the [Music] fourth about to kick it away after scoring the touchdown [Applause] here he comes from inside his own five just never had a chance to shake loose and he'll be brought down at the 24 boyy state has it back ready to go to work on offense here's the handoff finds his way ahead for three out to the 27 yd line up brings up second down after the three- yd pickup they come to the line Second and seven he'll try it again still running at the 40 they'll get him on the ground at the 46 and it'll be a first down this offense all game long has been running really well and I'm really impressed by how well they've recruited at the running back position they've got some Dynamic players coming into the game at different points spelling each other keeping each other fresh they're hurting this defense and the Broncos moving quickly to the line here's a quick throw out to the left they stop him almost immediately short gain there and still a little ground to cover to pick up the first on second down will they go back to the ground [Applause] game looking for room it's Genty and a nice solid pick up there before the defense wrestles him to the ground I think that was an example of the offensive coordinator trying to help out his quarterback he's trying to keep these third Downs management you know you throw the ball on second down and it's incomplete now you've set up third and long and now you're set up to fil let's see if they keep it on the ground here on third down they'll try to power their way ahead he gets it oh so close to the first down marker but I think he's going to be a touch short man I think back in the day this is a no-brainer you're putting the football and believing your defense but analytics all the time now telling you to be aggressive I'm interested to watch this play obviously if you're aggressive you might could run this clock out and in the football game and not have to put your defense back on the field how about that defense rising up and stopping him short on fourth down looking for a productive play on first down out of the gun to give to the back and he's a real Nowhere Man tackled in this no game land if you're the defense you know that running back is the guy you've now got to stop he's had a lot of touches in this game yes he's made a lot of plays but you've got a chance to win here if you're going to do that you need to take him away he'll try to pop the draw he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple defense doing their job getting that last stop and now third in California not a lot of play calls to convert this so defensively let's get off the field now the clock's running we need to give it back to our offense with as much time as possible now trying to keep this drive alive on Third and long from the 45 Williams will pass pressure coming he'll throw it working that left side now they'll pick up enough yardage for the first down they've got it at the 30 and you just get the feeling that this defense has to find a way to get off the field and get the football back at this juncture of the game trailing late if they're going to win Georgia Southern about to snap it on another first and 10 [Applause] on the ground trying to pull the plug on this clock tough sledding there as he picks up one to the 29 at this point of the game the offense has the lead the offensive coordinator knows they want to keep running the football so he's going back he's looking at his playlist and he's saying which runs work the best for me in this game what can I lean on right here to make sure we win this one time is on their side and they're going to wind that play clock all the way down now the play fake moves away as he feels pressure on the run and he'll slide to avoid the big hit yeah I think you're just seeing the experience this guy has right he's so poised and initially he's flushed out of the pocket nothing's open and he doesn't panic he's not throwing it away he's not sliding early he just knows where the defense isn't and is able to attack that space with his speed get a positive play they'll move the running back to try to force the defense to adjust quickly complete good job running that route to get past pass the sticks because he got nothing after the catch well this defense has given up some big plays in this game so far but they've got a lot of Talent on that side of the football someone has to step up here make a play get a stop and put their team in a position to win and the Eagles racing to the line in the hurry up we've reached a two-minute warning this offense trying to milk this clock and keep time on their [Applause] side defense showing plenty of pre-nap movement of their own the Eagles are flying down the field wide out in motion leaves it with the running back and a good solid pick up there before the defense knocks him down quick timeout called by the defense stopping the block to save as much time as possible for their offense wouldn't be surprised to see them go right back to the run on second down and maybe put this thing away the give to the back a strong tackle and wrap up from the junior timeout called there by the defense desperate to get the ball back and save as much time as possible not a lot of ground to cover and not much to defend a big third down in the Red Zone they'll try to run for it that ought to be enough to move the chains and give Georgia Southern a first down defense uses a timeout quickly trying to get that ball back and preserve time for their offense and as they come to the line they have the lead and they have the clock on their side first and goal and they'll take a knee and this has to feel great for this offense to come out here in front of your home crowd and make as many plays as you made he's going to build a lot of confidence moving
