Welcome! hello everybody Welcome to the road World football show I am Patrick Dy joined by Denny Carter on Tuesday September 10th the regular season is Raging many are saying it is week two after the 49ers put a bow on week one by I would say demolishing the Jets I mean we've seen more convincing victories we've seen larger margins of Victory but extremely convincing win for the 49ers against the Jets we're going to talk about the CMC rug pole as it is being called by me um we'll talk about what is going on uh with the 49ers pass catchers if anything Denny um what we did or didn't see from Aaron Rogers Allen Lazard LOL what I put in the show sheet yeah then we're want to talk about a little bit about Thursday night football because that's where some of the biggest news stories of the week are Devon aan uh stay healthy for one game challenge he failed it he did we'll see what again we'll see what the bank examiner of course has to say about that we'll see what my pastor has to say about that well I haven't I haven't been for a while I'll be honest but I might have to go um we're talk about the skinniest Tua anyone has ever seen because that's Denny's favorite topic um evolving thoughts in the bills receiver core what's going on with the Rams after puk's injury Isaiah likely ad of the life out of a lifetime question mark and the Panic meter on things like the Packers offense the Falcons offense the Browns offense the Seahawks offense amandra St Brown now there's actually one other good pass catcher in the receiver core Jaylen Warren but Denny we have to start with Christian mcaffrey and I'll start I'll make it a personal question for you um on a scale of one to 10 Bank examiners combing through old emails asking childhood friends for receipts um just generally surveilling your home like your deck in your golf course that you have in your backyard yeah um where are you at with how bad that CMC late scratch was you was for you last night scale one to 10 Bank examiners didn't he it was the opposite of that I'm sorry for me but I had him Jets at 49ers Reaction: Christian McCaffrey’s surprising inactive status, SF pass catcher trends, analyzing Aaron Rodgers and the Jets offense in a fraking dynasty League where you don't draft people yeah no I I actually was able to move the bank examiner to Virginia I I I actually got the police to move him to Virginia so uh so for now I'm good I I would never take CMC come on I never obviously I never would either I got him on the cheap in a dynasty League a few years ago where people were starting to panic about his career being over so I have him I had Victory sewn up 14 Team league literally all I needed was like a normal CMC night and then at at 7 o'clock we get the news oh he's not he's scratched he's not playing I like whatever real bad for me if I still have Brandon iuk and George KD don't worry about it how I got so overweight on the 49ers I'm like surely they'll combine for 11 points they did Brother uh I was seriously screaming at the TV I was actually this is not a bit I was screaming at the TV yeah we've been there I've been there uh It's Curious you say Brock pie is a total fraud yet you drafted every 49er skill position I said that's why I said don't worry about it the KD thing was way before pie auk was before pry too this was about we were kind of rebuilding for a few years I was having to take best player available it's annoying to have so many 49ers I will say um to be so reliant on any team so so terrible to have the highest scoring offense in the league oh you know you know what is it's such a the whole thing is a scam man you watch this game it's a scam you see Jan Innings yeah yeah all right says keep throwing to throw to Kyle Yi nine times it doesn't matter who's in the offense that's what I'm saying it's a scam it doesn't Jordan Mason the same as CMC we saw it it's so I yeah I guess what I don't think you've thrown to Jan and you quite enough yet can you do that seven more times okay yeah sure yeah AB mean but that makes look at I know know we don't like Kyle shanan on some levels but on this level he's good he's good it only works against poorly coached teams the second he plays a real team they get blown out of the building by the Ravens they lose to the Chiefs and the Chiefs don't even play well it doesn't work it does not work I mean with Jordan Mason taking basically every single carry for the ners they were sixth best in Rush EPA for the week you know aside aside from Kyle Shanahan clearly being the best coach in the league Denny he's not a good coach right you you take away all the good stuff and you and what what are you left with you're left with only bad stuff hi from Kyle shanan easily being by far the best play caller in the NFL I don't even really think he's that good so see what's going on Kyle you got me again Kyle you got me oh yeah he got you good he got he got me real real good so did you see anything interesting with these 49ers pass catchers there's another thing about kosan it drives me crazy yes Brandon iuk didn't practice much this summer dude he's been in the system for five years I know I'm quite confident he can play 70 snaps draw eight or nine targets or whatever I know probably in s Gardner a prison last night yeah but D act I he barely I can only target him two times Max we don't even know if he knows how to play football anymore so anything or is this like a one game unrepeatable um pattern that we got from the 49ers pass catchers last night with iuk being e and no CMC I mean look iuk ran a route on 27 a 32 dropbacks like he was out there but the Jets play a lot of um uh a lot of zone defense and that usually means it's a Debo night and so therefore and thus it was a Debo night yeah um auk doesn't do it he doesn't do it against zone so if they're playing a Zone heavy team just kind of check your expectations for the week because that's just usually that's what happens uh I do want to say I see this idea on the internet about George k being um used as a blocker more last night he ran around on almost every single drop back um so he's involved and they just don't they just don't look to him I mean it's just it's just as simple as that um yeah I mean uh Jennings was a weird thing last night but overall I think I think when they're playing a man heavy team you go with it's an auk KN and when not it's steo night it's that simple were you listening to the broadcast last night did you like have did you hear Joe Buck I wish I had written it down I really wish I had like recorded or written down he did really get to the essence of Kyle shanan I think did you hear the Spiel he had basically Kyle likes to draw up cool stuff more than he likes winning like he actually like had that Spiel at one point he did Joe Buck understands the man and and that's it you know that's it and by the way Kyle Shan I like the hair I know I gotta be honest I actually do like the new it's a good look it's a good look did did who uh who was it uh did Aman say that Shan Hannah is mistaken for the lead singer of Incubus um maybe yeah I I caught that as as an older Millennial my my ears perked up at Incubus I forget the incubus singer's name is I should have Brandon Boyd yeah Brandon Boyd that's right um Brandon Boyd no Brandon Flowers am I right only Millennials for remember yeah but K he's moved on from The Vaping aesthetic to I don't even know what you'd call this aesthetic um like now now he looks like the dad of the vapor that's true he looks like the dad there's there's a point in every Dad's life yeah usually when the final kid is like 17 we're like Dad has long hair all of a sudden and dad dad only wears hats now even though he's not balding like why does Dad always wear hats and have long hair yeah it is I it's time to take off the hat Kyle if you're listen you got good hair take off the hat off the hat one good game against another Elite defense Denny Carter but we didn't see a whole lot from Aaron Rogers last night I I honestly wasn't that concerned he certainly looked better physically than Kurt Cousins did uh he had the classic free play it was his 18th free play touchdown since he became starter in 2008 the second most in that time span is Joe Flo with six Baff about the rest of the league only Aaron Rogers seems to understand that you can do this um he did it to Perfection with Alan Lazard but what did what did you or did you not see Rogers last night uh I I mean I thought that his arm was as Lively as I remember it you know um I don't think he was nearly as mobile uh as as he was he was not as mobile no he was is true being graded on the cousin scale quite mobile being graded on the Roger scale far less mobile right we'll get to that in a minute with the cousins thing but yeah yeah I mean you know clearly like he's old and he's coming off this Achilles and the the the idea that we talked about in the offseason that going to be a lot of checkdowns going to be a lot of passing and very little running very little creating out of the pocket I think that that looks like it's going to hold up um I was looking at just before the show I was actually looking at Team ad do and uh the Jets were near the bottom so 20th on the on the day on the week so uh you know lot lots of lots of short passes and uh I think that should be good for for Conlin for Bree Hall and you know maybe for Garrett Wilson the the Lazard things a little weird I actually wrote up Lazard uh for I see I see you already cringing uh for the regression files which you can check out on the on the site so really good stuff really really good stuff thanks uh only Garrett Wilson out targeted uh Alan Lazard against the 49ers of course Lazard had two touchdowns one on that free play and one in garbage time from Tyrod Taylor so take that obviously with a grain assault he was targeted on 28% of his routes um and Mike Williams barely played so I guess for now Alan Lazard is locked in to the wide receiver 2 role in New York yeah what was that all about they spent all offseason leaking to every National reporter like we really wish we could cut him can and basically asking reporters can you like give us permission to cut out you know it's he's an Aaron guy you know and and so he's gonna succeed like I don't know if Jeff yet Denny his second touchdown was with Tyrod Taylor curious I I know I I don't know what Jeff Jeff Janice is doing but I bet you he could suit up tomorrow and catch four balls from Aaron Rogers I mean they just they they just they have a have a a connection you you can't measure it didn't Garrett Wilson had kind of a weird night I'll say I think honestly it was because you alluded this on Twitter his weird aesthetic he didn't look good he did not look good what was that all about seems like a very nice young man he wearing like a rain coat under his jersey the worst he looks worse than any receiver I've seen in the modern era I don't know what it is he's wearing like Brett Favre a Brett Favre style Jersey from 1996 is he is um the helmet is like old like classic helmet that like Deon Sanders might have worn and like for the Falcons like I I don't know what's going on with this guy some somebody needs to help him out with his uniform he looks awful he does it does not fit well the schedule does not fit well by the way for Aaron Rogers you get the Titans in week two who just totally eliminated Caleb Williams that might have been more of a Caleb Williams than a Titans thing of course you have the Patriots who just eliminated Joe burrow maybe more of a burrow thing so those matchups could go either way then you have the Broncos which do have a really good pass defense you have the Vikings and Brian Flores that appears somewhere in Europe says the games at 8:30 a Eastern uh then the bills then Mike Tomlin it's a tough schedule for Aaron Rogers to begin his Jets career probably none tougher though than what he saw last night so we'll see how it goes for the Jets but the skill cor man it's not good it's as thin as we thought like when alazard is out there like getting targets like like they need ad they need they need Devonte Adams so I know we're not trying to overreact but we need to react after week one and one of the reactions for me is realizing that Alan Lazard is not going anywhere like he saw nine targets that's I think that's a real thing going forward well I I don't know true or false Alan Lazard just posted a season high for yards for yards yeah yeah maybe maybe but I mean you know Mike Williams is dust obviously hold we don't need one literally one game come on man this guy this guy's not coming back yes he is he's only like 29 and you okay I can't emphasize this enough Alan Lazard is friends with Aaron Rodgers that's the big problem for Mike Williams is that he hasn't had any time to build that chemistry and that is the bigger concern I feel like than his physical state because I think he'll probably physically be fine and this podcast will be fine but we just have to take a real short break we'll be right back after this let me just look it up real quick and it's Dolphins bills it's an absolutely amazing game uh real real good game we got coming up Thursday night could be a better game um if everyone plays we got some of the most important players already questionable thankfully one of them is not Josh Allen his left-hand injury whatever it is the testing came back negative might be a nuisance on a Bills at Dolphins Preview: De’Von Achane and Raheem Mostert ailing, expectations for Tua Tagovailoa and Dalton Kincaid short week but he's gonna play Devon aan though isn't practicing Raheem moard is not practicing Jeff Jeff Wilson lays in weight Jaylen Wright after being healthy scratched lays in weight uh seriously mate for Deon aan and uh real real you did not show the haters um the haters said you couldn't stay healthy for quote literally one game we got it then we gotta give credit to the haters you do have to give credit to the they were right he could still play it's thankfully not a serious ankle injury but it's the short week it's just someone always gets stuck with the short week it's a horrible time for the Dolphins and the bills to be on a short week but we don't know anan's status we don't know Raheem moard status what do you even is there anything to say other than that am I I'm just kind of setting the scene can you even give analysis on the situation yeah no I think so I mean I think in deeper leagues you pick up Jeff Wilson just in case um Jeff Wilson is the clear rb3 Jaylen Wright would mix in I guess he would be active at least he was a healthy scratch for folks who' missed that in week one um you know whether whether it's aan or moster who is out if one of them misses then Jeff Wilson I think you know would be in line for like 10 touches or something I mean they you know he's a system knower and Mike McDaniels trust him I will say rohim moer played through his injury on Sunday not effectively and once the adrenaline wears off it's a chest injury that could mean ribs that could mean pectoral or something he might just not be ready on the short week seems like he's ahead of aan when it comes to playing but it seems like neither guy is like you can you can't say with either guy was definitely out they both seem genuinely questionable and basically the only thing you can do is keep it lock to roll.com I'll say if moster plays then I think Jaylen wri the ad if uh save's reversed then I think it's Jeff Wilson I think the the interchangeability there is pretty clear Jeff Wilson's the early down backup Jaylen R is the aan backup I mean of course anan's playing a lot on early Downs too yeah make it overly simplistic I do think it's a little a little tougher than that um that makes I mean the fact that Jaylen wght was a healthy scratch probably means that he's he's a little while away I I did hear people oh H was a health scatch in week one last year and so okay all right then play him in week two see how that goes wow then he already totally over it it's September 10th and I'm writing a show notes Craig Carter totally over it I'm over it Denny's over it uh I tell you what you're not over skinny Tua did you get everything see everything you hoped and dreamed of with Tua Tonga aloa and his newly impressive Physique in week one against the Jaguars you know he actually didn't play well I gotta say um he was way below as expected completion rate which is which is absurd which is like never happened before um he had a Skyhigh uh pressure to sack ratio which he never has um and I think it's actually because he's more mobile and he tried to get away and and he couldn't uh you know so you know maybe maybe we're getting we're getting used to our new body you know maybe that's that's what's happening oh dear shouldn't have taken a drink then you should not have taken a yeah um but yeah no it was it was a 317 yards and a touchdown from Tua and it was terrible like you know like no no no I mean like it should have been a 400 yard three4 so you're saying he left meat on the bone he left so much meat on the bone the whole Dolphins team woke up after that Travis etn fumble again un unfortunately a career altering fumble for Travis etn it'll never be the same it's also week one altering fumble for the Dolphins oned after that thankfully for Tua he was he was playing a quarterback who is somehow more mid than he is so that help that helps what are the film Bros saying about Trevor Lawrence are they still coping they still potentially maybe finally crying they're cop they're coping so hard they do well guess what if Brian Thomas was eight feet tall we wouldn't be having this conversation well he's not oh man never will be oh yeah yeah I well let's see I did see one where it was like he threw a ball ahead of the receiver and so that was a win well guess what they had two false starts it Mets literally every team every week I me the Ravens had the Ravens had four in their first series Trevor Lawrence had three drop I mean Pat Mahomes had like seven drops a game last year and still easily won the Super Bowl man remember that highlight reel of oh yeah all of all this almost highlight re catches where it was like well if they just would have caught this then Trevor Lawrence would have thrown for 8,000 yards every reer were Randy Moss then he would have set the single season passing record for the Jags last year really makes you think um Denny game one game of data makes us think on the bills skill core Dalton con Kade speaking of crying and coping caught one pass the Bros aren't worried on him either yet though I mean all the rates are good he's running so many routes dton con k I know he's never been good he's running a route every single now what uh trying to strip away the arice what did we see with the bill skill core Eric smolski did say not to worry so much on Dalton con because he was running a lot of routes um he was drawing really really tough coverage again this is one game but any takeaway so far from the bill skill Corp this whole thing where a tight end uh craps the bed and then we say well he was covered that doesn't that doesn't hold any water really do it for you I'm sorry like Mark Andrews face face coverage on Thursday and so he didn't do much well okay I mean I thought he was good I thought that he could overcome something like that so you're saying the second of tight end gets defended like they're actually good it's over yeah oh whoops uh so yeah I mean look this bill I I just want to I want to be really clear and I I TR I tried to be clear about this in the summer maybe I wasn't uh this bill's offense um is gonna stink for Fantasy um well except for one guy who's going to be the best player in no right right obviously outside of Josh Allen and he's going to get get his every week James Cook might get his nobody else is getting theirs this is this is a really really bad offense for fantasy and let me tell you why real quick uh so under Joe Brady last year they were a massively run first team on Sunday against the Cardinals Brady's bills offense was a stunning 12 12% below their expected dropback rate wow add nine rushes for Josh Allen to that equation and you get nothing for the receivers so like Keon Coleman had a 21.7% Target share that's awesome for a rookie in his first game it's also meaningless because it means what was it seven targets okay so we're we're talking like Arthur Smith Light here with with the uh with the bills and so can Kade look can Kade next week 98% t uh route route share 28% Target share he scored four fantasy points that's how it's going to go this year I will ever so slight slightly pushing back this both plays into and maybe sort of a future narrative I think they had like two pass attempts in the first 20 minutes of the game there was a lot of weird stuff wasn't Josh like two for two at one point like 30 yards like late in the second quarter they had some like really really strange game strip going on and then the second half they were much more recognizably the bills but part of that was that they were weirdly playing from way behind so they did actually start passing then it seemed like there were some really strange game script uh but still part of that was by choice playing into your concerns there but they do they were they were trying to be conservative established I I was I fear that they are this year's Chiefs from the regard and that s a jumo there's never be a true number one but I do think the skill core is overall more talented than that Chief skill core was last year yeah that maybe the Sorting might actually amount to something here and there are gonna be like one or two guys like Keon Coleman clear Shakir that we can actually at least get into the top 48 but they are certainly looking like last year's Chiefs where it's just you're never going to know any given week and blah blah blah blah blah yeah right I mean you know you're going to have weeks where one of these guys pops off because of a big play but I'm just telling you volume Wise It's G to be really hard to figure out this bill's offense and probably really hard to figure out I mean it might not be worth figuring out like you know like Curtis Samuel I I have no interest cut him immediately it's fine yeah I mean whatever that was that was a fun summer Lark yeah it was I'm hopefully being a little no I'm telling you man we're talking regularly we're gonna have regularly have like 25 Josh Allen pass attempts we might in the Mala of the midseason I will say I pulled up the schedule at the Dolphins the Jaguars at the Ravens at the Texans AKA a lot of potential shootout maybe yeah so maybe the schedule will save then it does Jets Titans Seahawks that's like where okay we're GNA mess around just run the ball try to stay healthy around Halloween but then then it picks up again Dolphins Colts Chiefs well let's see what we it's gonna be it is going to be an inconsistent ride I think it's the only thing we know for sure with this bill's offense uh Denny do we know anything for sure with the Rams skill core puka a out at least four games cannot return before week seven because the Rams have their Buy in week six um all the film Bros all summer like Demarcus Robinson I'm like guess what he's terrible it doesn't matter uh but now puka immediately hurt Demarcus Robinson very much matters what is the Fallout from the pukan injury in the ram skill court right well I mean it's uh 40% Target share last week for Cooper cup and that won't continue but something close to that will it yeah I was gonna say it might no I mean I I'm talking like we're gonna have Cooper cup will for as long as nkua is out Cooper cup is going to see a Target share north of 30 okay he's GNA see 10 to 12 targets More News & Notes: Ranking Rams WRs after Puka Nacua’s injury, ceiling for Isaiah Likely every week every single he had 22 against the the Lions that's classic mid game stuff like the guy gets hurt whatever it's hard to come up with a new game pan on the Fly just throw a Cooper every play I do agree like that was just about the injury but I do think like 10 to 12 is probably the floor the absolute floor I I I you know I mean I I would be 10 10 would mean that the Rams run away with the game and kind of establish it in the second half um but yeah I mean uh getting back to the the Rams in general here uh Demarcus Robinson is the clear wide receiver to he had seven targets the other night um Tyler Johnson appears to be the wide receiver three and remember he could matter because the Rams run an insane amount of three receiver sets okay now I guess that might change with nikua out but if it doesn't you're talking about cup Robinson Tyler Tyler Johnson as the top three I think this is really bullish for Kobe Parkinson who was mentioned in the Russian files because uh great usage okay uh um I'm trying to find here uh in the in the column but um yeah so against the against the Lions uh 83% route rate uh caught four of his five targets you know we we know this we know this profile of a tight end who's out there all the time not particularly great but this is a team 5% over their expected dropback rate on in week one they're going to be past heavy when they can be right so I I think that uh I I think po Parkinson becomes a must play in 12 team leagues honestly trying not to repeat too much I said on the Monday waivers podcast with Kyle but I made a point to Kyle I do I frequently make I love to make is that when a guy gets hurt mid game what you see post injury is not always what you're G to see the following week because you had a game plan then you're kind of scrambling you're kind of AD living now they know puku is out for week two the game plan could be different AKA might not be Tyler Johnson maybe for some reason Tyler Johnson was just the guy who was up and ready like tutu Atwell is still on this team you're right get involved it could just be a different flavor than what we saw against the Lions altogether uh but you know they they tipped their hand seemed like Tyler Johnson tuu Atwell plays a different position than most receivers so I do think tuu is the name just not to totally forget yeah but I it's not like we're gonna be playing tutu and 12 team redraft I actually don't know was tutu at well active I actually don't know if he was act I had to confirm he was still on the team he is still on the team I don't remember he I don't think he was a healthy scratch well yeah he didn't he didn't no way to find out no way to find out true no no but uh just what we saw isn't necessarily what we'll get to you they're playing from behind on the road like in a track meet type environment kind of strange times yeah it doesn't look like Tut two ran a single route we'll see where that goes tell you who ran some routes in week one and uh tell you who drew some targets and caught some balls and actually converted some aards then he was Isaiah likele is he the ad of the century at a tight end position that just lost David a joku to a high ankle sprain I mean the Cowboys are claiming Jake Ferguson's going to play through like a MCL sprain we'll see about that tight end was atrocious in week one absolutely atrocious even with the major caveat that Isaiah likely is gonna have a very difficult time ever replicating that game this season um he an extremely good ad at the tight end position where yeah likely right so this comes after an offseason where Todd monin and Lamar Jackson and John haral they were they were adamant about like likely he's going to be more involved and I heard that and said whatever he's a second tight end he's not going to be involved because honestly they said the same thing last year and he he wasn't until Andrews went down well they they meant it they meant it and you know obviously he made the regression files how could he not um but uh but you know and then he made it in the negative column but he's still a good uh because he was out there a lot so he's not gonna be as good as he was last week interesting it's true uh against the Chiefs ran around on 70% of the dropbacks um the Ravens played two had two tight ends out there on 31 of their 80 plays against Kansas City uh I I think that to say like you know oh this isn't going to happen again is dismissing something that is going to be a thing you know obviously he's not going to catch long touchdown every week obviously he's not going to be targeted 12 times but he's a thing and he's proba their second best pass catcher on the team behind Z flowers the thing that was most compelling to me about Isaiah likeley in week one this could have just been because they identified a matchup they really liked or something that his usage grew as the game wore on and as the Ravens you know were in winning time like like the go-to moments of the game was throwing to Isaiah all the most critical moments he was throwing to ISA Isaiah likeley and again maybe it's just because they really like who he was lined up on or something because there's so many idiosyncratic factors to go the stuff but that's where it wasn't just the catches or like the yards that they're both career highs that really made me go whoo it was that wow like every important play Lamar has thrown including the last play yes yes and that was a very compelling data point I thought by the way on the on the Rams just real quick producer Adam confirms that tutu Atwell was active uh this week against the Lions oh well active in name only we'll see if he can play more in week two um we'll see if we have more to talk about when we come back after this break spoil alert we do it's a match up between two of the brightest young quarterbacks in week two on Sunday Night Football watch Caleb Williams don't watch us week one and the Bears face off with CJ strad in the Texans in Houston coverage begins at 7 pm Eastern only on MBC and peacock I think it's also an MBC univers though by the way um anywhere you get your MVC you're gonna get Sunday Night Football and tell you what I really hope we get a better Caleb Williams I may be horrible Overexposed on DJ Moore I I actually think it'll be fine uh I I you know the the offense the AL Bear's offense was I think a good game plan he missed on a couple shots that would have made his statline look palatable um he targeted DJ Moore and Keenan Allen relentlessly so I I I I'm still confident in this Bears off I totally agree I think it was a just a really obvious case of first start NS that he looked really good to the eye test and was just slightly out of sync and one week maybe it's too much to ask ask to get fully in sync I I'm not panicked yet about Caleb Williams uh but am I panicked about any of these other guys didn't he we're gonna talk about we're GNA go through the panic meter and teams players offenses that are concerning week one performances this one wasn't necessarily concerning performance it's very much a concerning situation though the Packers without Jordan Love For What the next three to four weeks at least um and Malik Willis who would you might have already called the League's worst backup heading into week one had literally one job to do throw a Hail Mary and instead he just like ran around till he got sacked um it was very very ominous portent for this Packers offense and just how severe of downgrade is this Panic Meter: Skill position players with the Packers, Falcons, Browns, Seahawks + Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jaylen Warren for a really T talented receiver in skill core what is the Panic level at for Jaden Reed Christian Watson and Company without Jordan I I have a I have a hard time believing that the Packers are actually going to go with Malik Willis um they they I I would guess that they will um I do too to be honest they'll go with Sean Clifford who's on their practice squad uh there's just there's just no way he's he's not an NFL caliber quarterback the team cannot win with him under Center they probably can't win with with SE Clifford's apparently like as bad so uh yeah I don't know Malik at least has that NFL level athleticism it was to on the nose though where he came out there and just got sacked like dude just throw the ball I mean from a fantasy standpoint you know you start Josh Jacobs because they're gonna give him the ball 40 times um and then that's it that's it's Panic time I do agree it's like it's it's Panic time you can't you cannot start Christian Watson you like I'm I'm dead serious can is Christian Watson maybe the only one you can start no no no no no if you're gonna start anybody you start Jaden Reed because he's just goingon to stand at the line of scrimmage and just get pelted by Willis Willis is not even going to know Watson's on the field like Christian it's over it's over like the Packers season is essentially over unless Malik Willis can pull out a miracle and win one or two games here producer Adams says he was listening to Matt LEF flor's press conference yesterday and was basically saying he wouldn't answer when he was asked what percent of the Playbook has Malik Willis absorbed at this point uh do you remember what the Titans did with Willis when he had that spot start against do I ever the answer what they did Denny was nothing they did nothing to do absolutely nothing I don't I've ever seen a quarterback quite so handcuffed like hamstrung they just no trust that he can execute even the simplest play I have no idea you know you should get you should get a viable backup I I actually think the best case scenario is that Ryan tanah Hill comes out of retirement or whatever Tanny are they trade for Josh dobs like about everything else we'll get into that in a minute Andre yosias um against the Kansas City Chiefs yosias for sure this is absurd Christian Watson or Romeo dos actually I don't know I guess I guess Watson actually I'll tell you this I'm not starting darn Al Mooney over Christian Watson that's because I cannot unsee the Atlanta Falcons offensive performance against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday good defense but maybe the best defensive mind in the NFL and Mike Tomlin not who you want to be facing when you come back from your tourn Achilles tend in but we saw all the same stuff like all the nextg stats stuff like was like Christian Kurt Cousins literally didn't Sprint question mark like he didn't like take a snap under Center I think they ran like one play action play they do not think he can push off of his right foot where has torn Achilles tendon so as a result no one produced Robinson got 23 touches and kind of produced the it was just a horror show for the pass catchers except for Kyle Pitt scored a touchdown had under 30 yards I think where is your Panic level at with Kurt Cousins where and I forget which show I already said it on the charitable takeaway is that Kirk needed to come back just get a game under spell like get past that mental hurdle like okay I can trust my body again the Achilles isn't gonna blow like I I'll be more free in week two but that's the charitable interpretation what is your interpretation of what we saw from the Falcons something's wrong with cousins because uh over the 22 uh sorry the 2022 and 2023 Seasons um uh let's see only six quarterbacks were better in completion rate over expected than cousins right on Sunday uh he was 20th among 32 qualifying quarterbacks um so that that was really abnormal for him um cousins had the sixth lowest time to throw in week one uh the the whole Atlanta offense is a mess you talked about the lack of play action almost total lack of play action Atlanta was 5% below their expected dropback rate on the day 56% neutral pass rate um that that is not a Kurt Cousins offense that is not what we were thinking in the in the summer I will say the the only saving grace is Ban Robinson 78% route rate he caught all five of his targets saw 18 of 21 running back Rush attempts for Atlanta so he's going to he's going to get there it's going to be good for him but I I really do think it's a it's a hugely it's a it's a it is a time to panic it is it's just time to panic um the Drake lendon thing it's not it's not happening Kyle piss is not happening um until until Michael penx gets in there this is one situation where it's about as concerning of one game as possible I I think Panic is warranted I won't truly Panic until after the second I just want to see if this scenario I've concocted in my mind comes true versus Kirk just didn't know what to expect from his own body because every they always talk about you know coming back is like getting hit the first time whatever so it's the hardest test just knowing that you can still play football like your body's not gonna crumble you got hurt but you're healthy now so I want to see how it looks in week two man it's Vic fangio like they're gonna be teeing off on this guy probably it's very very concerning and this this it was not called it was totally unrecognizable Kurt Cousins offense even if it's only for a few games that's very bad it means you're losing like a chunk of the fantasy season it didn't look like a problem that was getting solved in a few weeks it just didn't this looked like an offense that didn't think its quarterback could move yes like you said it was kind of boring out of the St like if you can't move your pressure rate's gonna be super high the offensive line is going to look bad even if it's not bad if the quarterback nothing makes an offensive line look worse a quarterback who cannot move yeah also deeply concerning the Steelers were not afraid of cousins at all um they played two high safeties at one of the lowest rates of the week um they really jammed up the middle of the field according to their their their coverage stats um they basically said like we know you can't push it and so we're just going to clog the middle of the field and good luck and and you saw it I mean every time he threw to the middle middle of the field the off um you know it was into double and triple coverage it was every throw it was like a an old school Baker May field throw where you'd be like oh that's a pick that's a pick that's a pick you know it was it was that sort of that sort of day so it's Vic banio then it's the Chiefs every schedule I pulled up by the way looks like impossibly hard so far I haven't seen one schedule that looks soft the Falcons have yeah Vic vanio and the Eagles the Chiefs Dennis Allen and the Saints that's he's getting sacked nine or tenen times against the Saints on week four I really think that penx is going to play I'm not that's not a B I do too I really really do too and um I can't I made a political analogy on Twitter it was like an event where it's like all right I didn't know it was happening but I saw this event now I do know what's happening it's only a matter of time I feel like that way with the Kurt Cousins benching it's it folks uh by the way this isn't on the Panic meter but you mentioned two high safeties and part of your crying and coping with Anthony Richardson was like guess what guys the safeties will never be higher than they've been in league history in week two and before the show you inform me actually the safeties are already quite high and then it might be totally over for one Craig Den scar yeah right so so you know he Anthony Richardson throws two two of the like greatest deep balls in the league history on Sunday against the Texans and you know as someone who faded richon I'm like well that's not going to happen again because every team's just going to play two high safeties the whole time against Richerson well I looked at the numbers I I crunched the numbers and did the math and it looks like the Texans ran more to high safeties than any team in the NFL on Sunday so uh the say we we talked before the show the safeties cannot get high enough for a guy who can flat-footed throw the ball 65 yards oh they cannot you they said the safeties may be lining up in Isle 10 in the in the St they got to leave the stadium in order to stop the de the Deep ball for the love of God yeah that was that first touchdown to Antonio Pierce I I know hyperbole is the name of the game in our industry but hard to think of a better throw I've ever seen than that like remember one genuinely insane one preseason throw from Mahomes to Tyreek that's right that's the only one that might be better but other than that I can't think of one just in terms of like physical impressiveness like I just don't even know how that throw was possible he never even planted no he was like fading away he tried to plant and the the lousy Turf gave well well I mean that was that was another throw where he threw it and I'm like pick that's nope instead it's a thermonuclear touchdown yeah producer out the Victor half uh Clarence Hill Dallas Cowboys beat reporter tweeting near halftime everyone is bored it's not a joke he's like he said the fans are bored he said the Press is Bored like it's just a horrible game absolutely atrocious Cleveland browns offensive performance against an elite defense a Dallas Cowboys defense especially in the first half half last year was making everyone look terrible making everyone look out of sync but man DeShaun Watson just it seems like his abilities have left him The Supporting Cast is not good The Vibes could not be worse where is your Panic meter on the Cleveland Browns in their offense um if the Browns were to do the right thing for the team they would bench to Sea Watson right now and start jamus Winston in week two do I think that that's like a like the ultimate soltion probably not but he's got to be better but they can't they can't because they're paying him the GDP of Germany so you know that's that's going to be an issue going forward um just talking about this Browns offense in general um 4% over their expected dropback rate against the Cowboys uh okay the one this there is some silver lining I do want to say there's Silver Lining here 76 offensive plays for Cleveland against against the Cowboys that was the third most on the week okay and that is almost perfectly in line with last year where they consistently ran over 70 plays on offense to give you an idea the Colts were around like 45 okay so huge huge gap there now it didn't amount to much because deshun Watson didn't complete any passes but but I'm telling you that the offensive environment for this offense if they can get stabilized play from Watson which I doubt or if jamus Winston comes in and can do something there the offensive environment is good like real good Amari Cooper don't give up on him he was this close to a long touchdown late in the game he's going to he's going to be good because of the offensive environment Jerome Ford for as long as Nick chub is out he's gonna get there I'm telling you that that this should be good it's it's just that Watson cannot even play average at this point it's just not it's just not happening David and joku is a potentially enormous loss as he has that high ankle spring I'm sure he'll rush back from that maybe he only miss a game or two one another Silver Lining this is the first schedule I've pulled up all week that looks reasonable at the ja Jaguars versus the Giants at the Raiders at the commanders so there's some Runway there to get some momentum sure this is not too physically it's not the same to Shawn Watson and him and Kevin stefansky just cannot agree on what this offense should no no no because Watson never just drops back and throws it he drops back and he scrambles and he goes back and forth and back and forth and he takes the biggest hit you've ever seen every single play and stefansky said on Tuesday he came out and said look Watson took way too many hits he cannot be doing that so I don't know if that's going to change anything I I I doubt it but um it it's it's a it's a match made in Hell honestly between Watson and and stefany it just it just doesn't fit I will say Jordan aens appears to be the tat end one with and joku out and so in this what I believe is a fantasy friendly environment Akens could be a thing Jordan aens who went nuts in the playoffs with Flaco was yeah that's right it was the playoffs like an 83 yard touchdown I watching DeShaun Watson on Sunday I genuinely thought like dude is this like guy like trying to get hurt on purpose it kind of I kind of bought it kind of felt that way like it's like you did not need to expose yourself to that hit there was Zero up like why did you do that I mean he had to be peeled off the turf like eight times in the game he looked like someone who was praying for a sprained SC joint saying please to sprain my shoulder please it's uh yeah I I do yeah about jome Ford real quick he saw 12 of 14 running back carries uh for the Browns he ran r 65% of the dropbacks he saw seven targets he's going to be a scam but a but a good scam for Fantasy I wasn't panicking about this next one but apparently you are the Seattle Seahawks I was panicked in the first half then the second half like all right whatever we're not GNA do that we're gonna do the stuff that actually works and they did it and it actually worked but you were apparently panicking about our Seahawks who we were all in on all summer Denny you tell me it's already over give me the the grizzly details I guess and maybe Reason for Hope all right so we thought yeah hey you know Ryan grub coming from University of Washington going to call a lot of pass plays going to be aggressive it was the opposite of that okay the Seahawks were almost as runhe heavy as as Arthur Smith's Steelers 12% below their expected drop back rate they had a meager 42% pass rate while leading against the Broncos um like again like we talked about with the uh uh who was it the the bad offensive environment uh you know freaking uh the bills the bills it's it's like the bills because a 28% Target share for Tyler Lockett meant seven targets okay so I think that it's second they play the Dolphins in week three it's all gonna be fine they're they're gonna throw Gino Smith's gonna have a career high for dropbacks in week three oh we're hoping we're hoping really really I had one final thought there that is really irritating me I can't remember now but I'm not panicked about the Seahawks yeah just that was a game they're playing a team they know they knew could not win even though it was close they knew they weren't losing to Bow Knicks like so it's like kind of why even though they were losing early in the game kind like why get too crazy that's why I'm citing the expected rate I mean it's not it's not just that they would run heavy they would run heavy for the script but by the way my summer draft strategy of surely Devon Anan and Kenneth Walker will make it through one week healthy no looking and absolutely yeah in utter utter shambles I KN I knew it I knew right when when Ken Walker jumped from the seven yard line into the end zone I was like he's hurt Denny I'm really yeah I'm really confused about this one but when the bank examiner again he went over my exposure levels or whatever and he saw the Devon Anan and Kenneth Walker again good receiver in the receiver core ran Ros Brown who's never once had a talented receiving team oh man now appears to have one in Jameson Williams and did talk about the all Bank examiner team in week one ARB was on it um did nothing had one of his least productive games of his career trying trying to put kidding aside how concerning is the rise of Jameson Williams from monrock played two different positions essentially but he's a guy who just didn't need any more Target because the name of his game was dominating receiver targets I know Sam Lor we need to dominate the receiver targets that might not happen now how concerned are we for ARB very very look I got everything wrong obviously I've lit I literally whiffed on every single call in the offseason the one thing I got right was that Jameson Williams is going to be a major problem for St Brown and leapa um and and so far it's looking like a major problem for St Brown and lorta so Jameson Williams against the Rams uh 32% Target share 68% air yard share okay that is crazy he ran a route on 92% of Jared G's dropbacks uh and get this pet four of his nine targets came within nine yards of the line of scrimmage so it wasn't just a bunch of Hill Marys that's bad that's bad that's real bad I I am look the countdown is on until Aman Ross St Brown is is tweet is uh posting from The Art of War okay because after Jameson Williams emerges as the wi receiver one so so so man yeah a guy who can take a short Target and actually do something with arp's like I don't know you could do you can't do that wait you don't have to fall down that's stupid you're supposed to go seven or eight yards and fall listen Jameson Williams is is in it to win it he means business like he he got banged up and and came off you wouldn't have seen that last year or the year before uh so I I'm I'm very very bullish on on him and and uh I think the St Brown thing could could be an issue I'm not saying that St Brown yeah he was drafted as a wide receiver 45 he might follow like that onew borderline it's kind of a bad outcome that's the bad outcome I feel like for Aman rock where it's just not the volume is still there but it's not every week guaranteed because they have another guy that can actually like you can build a game plan around Jameson Williams and what he can do with the ball and down the field so it just might not be he was he was supposed to be Mr consistent am manra might not be as consistent the final guy we're on top about are we panicking on Jaylen Warren who Two Carries he was hurt for a lot of the summer was a game where they're playing with a lead it's a game that was quite established and he was not in Arthur Smith's week one plans can we chalk it up to injury or are we chalking it up to it El um well Mike Tomlin said on Tuesday that jayen is quote healthy enough which obviously means he's not healthy at all yeah that's not good so like barely probably can walk so that that should factor in here I I think this is probably as bad as it's going to get for Jaylen Warren um just to give folks an idea of the usage in the Pittsburgh backfield uh Naj Harris 38 snaps 20 carries 12 routes against the Falcons Jaylen Warren 22 snaps Two Carries nine routes so Naj Harris had more routes and that's important uh uh Cordell Patterson nine snaps and four carries so he actually out carried uh Warren now the good news longterm for Jaylen Warren is that the Steelers were 15% below their expected dropback rate Pat when they when the uh when they were leading in this game the Steelers pass rate was 36% uh so they are going to you're on mute I'm sorry you're on mute say Mike tomlin's been waiting for this day for 15 years finally you know certified ibly I do not have a good quarterback like we know or I don't have to pretend a Young quarterback might be good and I can finally just never pass the ball having a good quarterback was the worst thing that ever happened right right and so again like with the bills like maybe with the Seahawks you're gonna have an offense where George Pickins is literally gonna have to have a 35% Target share if he's going to be a thing like a wide receiver too and that I think that that is not out of the range of outcomes I think it will happen I actually do think he will 35% well yeah I mean listen man who else who else do you target I don't know I mean yeah they don't have anybody else so that that that is that is a good point but but overall I mean this team if they don't have to throw it they're not g to throw it so what where does that leave you and Jaylen Moren I'm confused oh on Warren I mean you can't play him right now I think things have to change um he's he's in demonstrate Health territory got to demonstrate health and I think Patterson is not going away yeah he'll go away he gets really tired he's the classic guy every week one I've never seen cat look this good no he's kind of like Tamm Hill then by the end of September like cat's wearing down already yeah yeah I mean he's old that's true um I I I mean in in redraft you can't play him you're hoping in best ball that he gets back eventually uh but it's not not looking
