Jake Haener on the importance of staying prepared and more

Staying prepared few times yeah how was it once you got in yeah I think uh you know as a guy in my position right a backup quarterback trying to figure out a good routine to stay warm um I think I could do a better job of trying to find something that I can do um in those situations just to try to like get myself ready to go and be warm and loose and ready and uh not use that first drive be ready from the jump um I felt like you know as kind of got the first drive going second Drive I felt really comfortable arm felt like it was ready to go and and made some plays um um didn't love how we started how I started the first first drive um yeah I thought the last Drive was positive and I think obviously I can make a better throw there for at to give a little better opportunity to make a play on that football yeah so you think that that was on on the throw there on the Give the guy a shot fourth down I mean yeah I mean I can give him a better ball right I could always do that um I think on those situations you just want to give give the guy a shot um one-on-one do your best to try to not have the ball hang up there for the safety to make a play on it either and um at the end of the day I need to give him better football elev they could make a play on it and not leave the ball inside Team game as a Run game whole is that kind of what you just expect the Run game to look like yeah I mean I think we're going to use fly motion we're going to use a lot of different shifts and motions to be able to try to you know have the defense change gaps and and try to um you know keep their eyes and in the Integrity in the Run game uh true uh so I think that's a little more of what we're we're going to see um you know on Sundays and look I think we got it going there on that 16 play drive for those those guys um you know on the third Drive I think 10 run plays on that drive is that yeah I mean we're going to use a play action pass we're going to be able to change the launch point for the offensive line we're going to use a keeper game as well and be you know get on the perimeter um you know and I think when the Run game can hold up and do its job and the offensive line does a really good job getting off the ball and the running back see it uh makes the pass game you know a little better for the quarterbacks what did you learn about Staying ready like what you would do different to to stay ready or stay War you know I think it's just um you know me as a pro trying to find that way and right and like it's not like I wasn't ready to go I think I think um you know just finding I've never really like this is new to me um it's my fourth fifth preseason game like trying to find a routine to be able to put myself in the best situation when my number gets called to go out there and execute and uh you know I'll continue to test and learn and grow and and get better and you know I think after you know four or five plays after we kind of got it rolling plays were being made and I just want to see myself do it from the jump that's tough too cuz you like if Finding a routine you figure something out you got to wait like a year maybe like if you look back at it you're waiting until next year yeah and there's listen there's no excuses I need to be um be a professional and be able to find my routine and be able to learn and grow um but I think you know there's some handling and some things I can do to be able to put myself in the best position to make the team successful how difficult is it when you don't necessarily know like who's going to be around you on the offense because you've been switching with a lot of different guys yeah listen like at the end of the day um I'm going to do the best I can to be able to help the guys around me operate and do the best I can to give them the best opportunity to succeed and those guys are Pros to too they prepare just like I do and uh I trust all those guys in the Huddle they do a really good job uh even the guys who just got here so they're doing a great job uh and at the end of the day if I'm not making the throws it's on me those guys are in the in the right positions at the right time and I got to find a way to ex
