Pittsburgh Podcast Host Can't Handle the Chicago Cubs' No-hitter

I never go first okay oh all right we have to talk about it we've been avoiding talking about it as you know I'm a giant Pittsburgh Pirates fan Ryan's team is the Chicago Cubs last night the game was 7even nothing it was what are you wearing ah show to Mania right so I'm watching the game at 6 nothing at 7 nothing we have Hermon starting I turn the game off so I go out I take the dogs to the park I a game to turn off well well for a pirate fan yes the Pirates were no hit last night uh it's the third time in five years by the way after going for 50 years the longest team not having been no hit three in the last five years hm what's the common denominator Oh Derek Shelton's manager okay so anyway here's my line the night uh the Cubs snapped their streak of over 4,000 games at Wrigley without throwing a no hitter the last one was in 1972 that's the second longest streak in major league history by a single Ballpark and what was the ballpark that had it old Forbes field at 4,773 games which no longer exists after 1970 so I just just pathetic the Pirates Derek Shelton got very testy in the in the postgame conference because the reporter asked him why did you make a defensive change when it was 11 he said it was 11 nothing why do you even care you're better than that he got they cut the feed on the interview but uh rowy tles the Pirates first baseman closed the game the third game he's closed in a week not good he's closed more games are as many games as our closer uh David bner that's not good right and by the way his ra position player yeah position player yeah I should point that out his uh his ER is in the sixes it's not horrible so everyone's joking oh he's our new closer he's a lefty pathetic but anyway very sad congratulations you guys avoided The Sweep yeah terrible yeah with a no no Cadence's title on that one was sha imada oh NADA no hitter no hit I didn't I didn't I I'm so upset by it but Ken that is that that could be a top 10er right there he was very proud of that one say say it again sha imanada imanada no hits even though a combin no know Naga that's very good that you could sell that to the Chicago Times they'll use that as a headline what is the uh Jersey say in the middle I missed the Jersey so this is my line of the night oh okay the line being a jersey Jersey uh the same brand that made the shirt that I'm wearing uh as well as my Caitlyn Clark shirt it says no hsur Ryan so the Pirates obviously no hit uh the 21st combined no hitter in Major League Baseball history but it was the first to be started and finished by a rookie pitcher so wow show toaga rookie Nate Pearson came in and pitched an inning and then Porter hodj rookie pitcher finished hod that kid's never had a tough Dan is like Porter Daddy I want to play baseball Porter uh imaga is not a rookie but okay fine I'll I'll let it go for Major League Baseball he is for major he's how old is he 36 no not that old he's like 30 it was the 14th time in franchise history getting no hit for the Pittsburgh Pirates it was the 18 18th no no in Chicago Cubs history which is now tied for the third most by a single franchise tied with the Red Sox and Giants with 18 no hitters the only two teams that have more no hitters in franchise history do you want to guess I'll guess I I know the do I'm gonna guess the Dodgers are they one or two I'm going to say Dodgers are number one the Dodgers lead Major League Baseball and franchise no hitters yeah how many 23 and then second I mean it's OB I don't think it's the Yankees It's not I was gonna some reason I don't know why St Louis Cardinals popped in my head but I don't think that's right either what if I told you it was an Al team yeah okay oh Oakland nope what if I told you it was the worst team in baseball Chicago White Socks God the Chicago White Socks Bly they had a yeah they've had a ton Wilbur wood I think was a knuckle baller they've had 20 guy named Joe we talked about or was Crowley a Yankee then I think he was a Yankee anyway I'm sure Keith L loves that uh yeah I knew the Dodgers the Dodgers have had so many pyat haven't had a complete game no hitter since John Candelaria in 76 or 77 so we've come close I was at that game we talked about it with Denny Nagel all right um good lines of the night glad we got to make fun of no hitberg that's a good one is that an actual Jersey or a mockup no th this brand I'm not sure if they're actually going to be selling it but right uh but yeah obvious shirts uh they mock that up I don't know if they're actually going to be sell or not but thanks for
