'The Deliverance' Stars Andra Day and Glenn Close On Their Introductions To The Horror Genre

hi there I'm Mary Beth mcandrew from dread Central how are the two of you fine thank you so good thank you Mary um so my first question for the two of you I'm going to start with Andre um but what is your relationship to the horror genre in general before we start talking about the movie specifically uh avoiding it usually because I already I have too active we talked about this on Set uh M Glenn and I I have too active of an imagination like it would just I usually I just feel like anything that I see I will absorb it and probably Rec created in my bedroom in a corner somewhere at night like I just um but it's interesting I think when I was young I've always really loved them I was always intrigued by them and then I got to a point where I was like all right I can't sleep this is crazy but I never I never go to them I get too scared too scared really yeah period like you when you have an overactive imagination it's like those things will follow me home so you know hell yeah um so H first off um Andre for you you carry so so much emotional weight in this film and I was curious what that was like for you as an actor to carry this journey on your shoulders so much and what it was like both on camera and off camera for you telling her story or telling this family's story uh so I think that I mean it was it was it was Heavy you know it was definitely heavy it was um but at the same time it was also a lot of fun you know what I mean so I think that's sort of the J position that on camera it was very heavy and sometimes it would definitely take some time you know as as my play mom knows sometimes it would take some time to unwind or to rev up before seeing her after scene but then the camera would turn off and I get to a watch Glenn Close in her element being phenomenal and who was also incredibly sweet and poured into everyone I get to watch Mo'Nique do the same thing who also poured anenu um Caleb mlin Demi Singleton um AJ Jenkins so I I think to be with Lee to play around with Lee so I don't it's really funny cuz I think she might be able to attest to this is that like although it was a horror movie and there's what you see on screen that's incredibly heavy we had such a fun set and it was really light and beautiful and I loved playing with these people I love the they've become like families so yeah it was it was both of those things yeah and Lee got had several um Gatherings for all of us MH yes and then Andre and I and the kids went on a boat on one of the rivers on Pittsburgh and uh did somebody did any of us swim yeah we we jumped in we definitely jumped in which I realized maybe did you get in I don't think you got in did you get in I don't think I got in in the waterous yeah no in my life as Glenn I was self-conscious unlike in my life is Alberta I think I was terrified once I was already in in the water because I hate gross things I just can't help it like so once I was in the water it was so fun swimming with the kids and and then I thought oh my God what's underneath me and what's around me don't think about that the boat was super fun yeah you had like snacks and food it was very cute I loved it I enjoyed it so much that's amazing and then Glenn you did mention Alberta's wardrobe I did love your wardrobe in this you have a pink Lacy bra sticking out I mean come on like it's such a it's so funny and so what was that like for you again like you kind of mentioned like bearing it all in a way and being able to play the I mean that was a great journey for me because as as myself I'm always self-conscious about my body and we're kind of you know programmed for that we're you know there there are these prototypes that we're supposed to you know want to be like and they're impossible to achieve so we always feel bad about ourselves um but Alberta it was the absolute opposite she no matter what what she put on um she felt like she was the sexiest person in the world and more showing she felt even better amazing well thank you folks so much I really appreciate being able to chat with you about Deliverance thank you and have a great rest of your day thank you you too
