PWHL Team Names & Logos Officially Revealed!

hey everybody it's Neil here from post to poost yesterday we got some pretty big news in the hockey world it was the names and logos of the women's league the pwhl I have some strong opinions and I know I'm not the only one cuz I've read Twitter and Reddit and Facebook and all the places online where people have been leaving comments and there have been some harsh ones so let's dig into this let's look at the names the logos and give our thoughts I will bring up the first image that I saw which was on Twitter which showed all six of the logos and all six of the team names and I guess just based on the logos we don't know the names there is one technical name in there I guess two rather so actually maybe let's skip to the next one we can actually get the names here so this was the second IM that I saw the team names I did see the logos first but we got the Boston Fleet so the Boston Fleet name is probably a Miss for me I don't really like that at all it's easy to say which is good they know that's a positive but Fleet like I I think they mean that from a a ship standpoint like a like a fleet of ships like in the Navy that is cool but the name Fleet like I remember the Fleet Center I don't know if you guys remember that I think that's what it was called let me look it up yeah the TD Garden was once known as the Fleet Center so it's just a weird name for me I understand why it's there it does make sense I just don't really like the name I don't like the word it just Boston Fleet it just sounds weird for a hockey team it has no connection with sports it's a weird name for a sports team we got the Minnesota Frost I love that name I think that's really cool I also love their colors I guess I didn't really touch on the Boston colors they're they're decent okay they're decent but I really like the Minnesota colors Frost it's got a really cool tight face as well so that's awesome and then the Montreal Victory or the Montreal vikto I guess as you'd say in French maybe uh don't really like the name because it is Prim like it's it's spelled in French English-speaking people aren't going to know how to pronounce it in French I don't even know if I know how to pronounce it in French I I believe it's vikto maybe it's something else I don't know but it's victory um so the Montreal Victory essentially in English it's a cool name I just they they're leaning too hard on on the French I think and I mean it's Montreal it's Quebec that's what they do I completely respect it the Montreal Canadians are my favorite team however this is a global Sport and at the very least a North American sport specifically for the pwhl so I think maybe a more English focused name would have been better or just one that's easier to say for english- speaking people as an English person obviously I have a biased opinion but uh even though I think I know how to pronounce it in French most English people won't and the only reason that I might know how to to to pronounce it in French is because I live in New Brunswick it's a bilingual Province it's right next to Quebec so I've seen that word before um but I'm still not sold on the word I think they could have gone with something just a little bit easier to say yeah maybe a controversial opinion in there but um it is what it is New York Sirens I like the name it's kind of uh you know there's there's a lot you can do with it logowise uh mascot wise Graphics wise there's it's a cool it's a cool name for a team like a like a sports team not amazing but not bad I would say this is kind of an average team name Ottawa charge I actually really like that name I think you could you know that that fits into uh football that fits into soccer that fits into hockey uh it's not a word that's often used in football or or um you know or hockey unless you're talking about the penalty but it's the team aspect it's you know you're making a charge for the net you're making a charge for the goal whatever I think that fits in nicely with with any sports and and hockey is is totally fine so I like the word charge we'll get to the logo here in a little bit because I have a different opinion on the logo than I do the name but I like the name charge I think that's decent Toronto scepter I don't like that at all um it is just weird it's just a weird name Toronto sepas like that's the best name that you can come up with for Toronto it's Toronto it's the the most popular and most visited and probably Sports iconic city in Canada and septer is the name it's just a weird name I don't like it it's it's just weird it's just weird I don't like it let's go one of the logos so the Boston logo is really cool I absolutely love it it is a anchor to tipped sideways and it's got some waves in there it makes up the bee it's obviously very reminiscent of the Harford Whalers logo it is not the Harford Whalers logo tipped on its side okay it looks like it but it's not it we don't have the whale tail we don't have the H inside we've got the hook and the jaggedy sharp edges of the anchor it's not the Harford Whalers logo it's very close I think it they've received lots of inspiration we'll say from the Harford Whalers logo but as it is regardless of the Harford Whalers existed or not individually it is a really really nice logo I think it's fantastic it is the perfect uh sports logo that is simplistic but also is very like intelligent it's just such a it's it's a very very good logo Minnesota I I think this is an excellent logo as well the the name Frost it gives you a scenario it gives you a feeling you can feel the chill and you get that visually here from this logo as well it's an F it's got it's almost like it's been in a blizzard and it's like the icicle is coming down but it's so windy and it's so frigid that it's like coming at an angle so you get that just a little bit of scenery that a little bit of perspective here in this logo and it's in it's kind of like the the B for for Boston the F for Minnesota is just a simple logo it's really cool the Montreal logo I think is probably the best of all of them and I I said earli that I'm a Montreal Canadians fan I'm trying to keep this completely objective I think it is a wonderfully executed logo again still not big fan of the name but I love the logo it is so incredibly well done it looks like a shield it's got really interesting colors with the dark blue and then the red which is what we want from Montreal but then the off-white I think it would look good on a t-shirt it's like you're going to war you're going to battle you've got this Shield I like all the little inres in there it's a very very well executed logo very simplistic very very good the New York Sirens this one I'm a little bit torn on it's it's goofy it's fun it is a bit New York I love the colors the colors are amazing I find it a little distracting a little bit busy you can see the end in the Y there making kind of that cube in the background giving it from giving it some Dimension which is cool but the additional s on sirens on the left s and the right S I understand what they're going for there and it does make sense in terms of the name but it really like it makes it really busy on the edges of this logo I think if he made those extra s's a staged gradient like this the Middle s section if you made that like a bit of Darker orange and then the outer one a bit of a lighter orange maybe similar to the gold that's in the background that's that's um encapsulating the the shape in the background just a stag gradient of of some kind just showing a little bit of Separation right now it's a little bit too muddy in that whole word the Ottawa logo I don't like that at all I think that's a complete ripoff of the Calgary Flames or the Cleveland Cavaliers you know pick or choose I think if the colors were different it might be acceptable however you've got the gold in there or the yellow you've got the red in there it's a c with some some stuff happening on the left hand side I mean it's just another variation of the Calgary Flames logo kind of and the Cleveland Cavaliers logo as well same colors basically it's more burgundy than it is red but still I just I I just don't like this I think that it is way too close to other professional sports logos I think they could have done something better you know you put someone on a horse and you put like a big what are those called Jou like the J when they joust whatever that that thing is called I don't even know put that on there put a big Shield or you know someone going to war like that's just I don't know it doesn't do it for me I think it's not necessarily visual plagiarism but it's pretty close uh the Toronto logo is a little odd I love the colors like blue and gold that is they have some of the best uniforms I think I think it's going to look so good but the logo is it's really tall and awkwardly shaped that would be an amazing shoulder patch logo like that would be the perfect shoulder patch logo on there so good wouldn't change a thing but primary logo it's a little awkward for me so I I don't really like the name I don't really like the logo but I love the colors I think of all the colors they had probably in the top three for sure but um yeah I'm not not a huge fan of the logo I want to move on to the I guess a public post that was made on Twitter by the pwhl and it just says style unmatched and then it has a bunch of names and stuff y y y but look at the images that were that were posted by the pwhl it's of the players wearing t-shirts which are awesome they look really good but they're mirrored like sometimes when you take a selfie with an iPhone or whatever phone it's mirrored but they didn't switch it back before they posted this and just I think that is just what's going on this is a professional sports League yeah it's new but still it's a professional sports League you're telling me that you can't hire someone that's that's like how do you not notice that how do you how do you post that that's a mistake that's a to me like someone who works in content management and and social management social media management like that is it's not a fireable offense but it's like it's a big slap on the wrist I'll say that it's a big slap on the wrist I just can't believe that someone posted that without the awareness I've seen it looks ridiculous like it looks absolutely ridiculous you're showing off The Branding for these teams for the first time the word marks on the on the t-shirts you've just announced these teams okay these are new brand new teams and you're not even going to flip the orientation back to to unmirror it so it's properly oriented so you can actually read it Like H not good not good at all anyways that's that's pretty much it all the images that I have of uh of that announcement so far so I think if I were to rank them I'm not going to make a separate video I don't think so I'll just uh I'll rank now actually maybe I will make a separate video cuz I need to sit on these a little bit so I'll make a I'll make a ranking video maybe in next coming days or a week or so uh I'll rank the logos and the names in One video not two videos in one video I'll sit on these a couple of days and see where my head's at in terms of what I like the best but what Down Below in the comment section what do you guys like the best uh did any of these stand out to you as you know above and beyond all the rest what was the worst let me know your thoughts Down Below in the comment section I am very very close to officially being out of this place that I've been living in for the last 4 years so the next couple of videos that you'll see this week are will be the final videos from this location all future videos uh will be from my new location and I'll start filming there early next week so if you I I ask for your patience and the eess e echo of this this video and the Audio I apologize um and then hopefully that's a little bit better in next week's video when I start filming at the other location and it might take me a while to get the background set up and get
