IF YOU HAVE BEEN SHUT DOWN BECAUSE OF IT. BUT NOW IT'S THE CHILDREN THEMSELVES STANDING UP HIGHLIGHTING JUST HOW SERIOUS THIS PROBLEM IT'S IS NOT JUST ABOUT THE KIDS MAKING BAD DECISIONS. >> IS THAT DEFENDANT THAT SOME BUSINESSES ARE THESE PRODUCTS? NOT ONLY BECAUSE IT'S ILLEGAL, BUT BECAUSE IT'S DAMAGING OUR COLD. >> DETROIT PUBLIC SCHOOL STUDENTS, PART OF THE DETROIT POLICE LAW ENFORCEMENT EXPLORER PROGRAM MAKING THEIR VOICES HEARD AT A TOWN HALL WEDNESDAY NIGHT AT THE FARWELL RECREATION CENTER, CITY LEADERS AND ACTIVISTS FRUSTRATED BY THE AMOUNT OF VAPING MARIJUANA PRODUCTS THAT STUDENTS HAVE ACCESS TO BUSINESS. SO INTEREST OF THE CHILDREN. >> AND, YOU KNOW, SOMETHING ON AND THAT THE TEAM BASED PRODUCTS ILLEGALLY. >> LAST WINTER, WE REPORTED TO YOU THAT A COOK A SHOP WAS SHUT DOWN RIGHT ACROSS THE STREET FROM PERSIAN HIGH SCHOOL FOR SELLING TO MINORS. AND IT'S ACTUALLY A LOT OF THESE EXPLORERS THAT WORK WITH POLICE TO GO INTO THE STORES AND SEE BILL SELL TO KIDS. WE HAD LIKE A. >> FOR 73%. LAST YEAR. WE DID A LOT OF. INSPECTIONS FOR 73% OF THEM. ACTUALLY, SOME OF KIDS AND FRUSTRATED PARENTS AND GRANDPARENTS WITH STUDENTS IN THE DETROIT PUBLIC SCHOOL SYSTEM. >> HAVE ONE MESSAGE FOR THESE BUSINESSES. NOW, ACCORDING TO DPS SUPERINTENDENT, DR BEATTIE, THERE HUNDREDS OF DRUG-RELATED INCIDENTS OVER THE PAST FEW YEARS INSIDE THE SCHOOLS, SOME RELATING TO DRUGS THAT LOOK, A WHOLE LOT LIKE CANDY. HE HAS CALLED FOR CHANGE AT THE STATE LEVEL. WE'RE LABELING AND PUBLIC AWARENESS CAMPAIGNS, PRINCIPLES. WE'RE SEEING ISSUE FIRST HAND. I CAN PULL UP RECOGNIZING IT. >> BECAUSE IT'S BECOME A PROBLEM THAT WE DON'T KNOW GUMMIES OR IN MARIJUANA. SO THESE LEADERS HAVE COME TOGETHER TO TRY TO PUT A STOP TO THIS. SO STUDENTS CAN BE THE BEST THEY CAN BE INSIDE THE CLASSROOM THIS SCHOOL YEAR.
