My Thoughts on JJK 268

all right so since we've had time to sleep on it let's talk about jjk 268 but spoilers beware all right so as I'm sure you've seen 268 has had a very polarizing response with I feel like the loudest comments being the ones that are negative which is often the case right so I wanted to provide you know my little bit of positivity in this because I really liked this chapter and the people that disliked it are more than welcome to that opinion the only thing I want to push back on which is the case when you get to a large enough fandom there is just going to be some subset of toxic fans and so you know you just have to tune them out because just because something doesn't go the way you wanted it to go or you theorized it to go I mean especially in my case right doesn't make it bad right it just makes it different gagay had something else in mind so I feel like a lot of people that are upset are coming from that type of place and not from like a actual critical place if that makes sense and there is a Nuance there and it is murky so you know y'all forgive me and again I'm not saying you can't have enjoyed this chapter that's completely fine if you did but to call it bad writing or stuff like that I think that's just not fair because that's just you know again completely subjective at the end of the day but I think gagay has more than proven that he is a competent writer anyway I digress the point is I wanted to talk about things that I liked about this chapter and I think this was a beautiful and poetic end to the suuna in Yuji fight uh I know a lot of people said it was anticlimactic and it kind of like just sua went out with a poof but like that makes no sense to me this fight has been going on for over a year and we even knew at the end of last chapter the editor said like this is ringing the bell on the end of the fight with yuji's Divergent fist black flash which I thought was an incredible final move it was yuji's iconic move right the guy without a curse technique first learns how to do Divergent fists due to his like unique understanding of cursed energy and then of course the man chosen by the black Sparks he combines those two the same way he took out mahito right and there's a ton of fascinating parallels in what's happening especially with the mahito situation and my favorite is the way gagay spun it on its head with the I'm you that he said to mahito now being to suguna you're me and it just shows like the growth that Yuji has had right he no longer views himself as a cog in this world Bound by others expectations for him and the role set upon him to be this sacrificial lamb for sua right no he throws that all away because he realizes the parent value and life is regardless of role or meaning right and so he turns that on its head by saying sua even though I have you dead to rights even though you already turned down my compassion I am still going to let you live on with me because the only difference between you and me is that I had my grandfather you know it's totally a nature versus nurture thing and this is just the entire theme that gay has been building toward this entire manga right the one to teach you about love is Yuji the one who should the one who has no reason to help you but in spite of all of that is still going to give you a chance because he recognizes the why of why you're different and that's because you didn't have anyone in your life you were alone true strength and the loneliness that it brings right all of these things were tied together so well in my opinion and this is also why especially after having slept on it I don't think sug is gone I think Yugi did ingest him or whatever you know I think he is a Silent Passenger within you yui because I think that is the beautiful and poetic way to end the story now I could be wrong maybe he just evaporated but considering Yuji did give him again that second chance I think he would have just forced it upon him at that point but we'll see anyways I thought the sua fight you know starting with Gojo and all the way up to that black flash was incredible people are saying he's a fraud he's clearly not this man was an absolute Beast for you know 50 some odd chapters however many it was and to go out again with a Divergent fist black flash from his nephew who is the one teaching him about love beating him in the ideological battle and showing him that might doesn't make right you know he crushed suguna both physically and spiritually like I said ideologically so I loved all of that and I loved all of the homages to like Full Metal Alchemist and just you know all of the the goats when it comes to the Shonen mangas but uh yeah I thought this video was going to be one minute and I have been gapping for like five straight but I really loved this Climax and this ending to the whole Suk Yuji Dynamic that this entire manga has been about and the lessons that gay has been lying underneath the entire way um but what I will say is obviously we only have three chapters left the hakari urum um ending was a bit disappointing and underwhelming to a lot of people and I completely understand that uh I know a lot of people wanted to actually see what happened in that fight but instead uru may just off offs themselves so uh people disappointed in that I get it people disappointed that you know we didn't get to see the merger there wasn't a Kaku or a Gojo comeback I get that but that's where I'd say that like you can't let what your set expectations were since that didn't happen dictate you know how good or bad what happened actually was and again there's a lot of nuance and stuff like this so you guys are going to have to give me the benefit of the doubt cuz obviously objectively bad things can exist and again it's subjective at the end of the day so if you didn't like it that's fine but I did like it so that's my two cents on it and again I just wanted to share that because what I've seen has largely just been a sea of negativity so I wanted to kind of like push a little push a little hole in that bubble for some positivity regarding this chapter but anyways like I said this video is far longer than I intended it to be so I'm going to stop yapping for now we'll definitely be having more videos coming out over this break week analyzing different aspects of this chapter but wanted to go ahead hype so far uh we talked about how highly rated this is but I've really enjoyed it uh if you didn't see it I probably wouldn't recommend jumping in with us starting with episode 11 you should do yourself the service of watching it from the start but again like I said uh if you watch this video soon enough you have time to watch the first 10 before we're going to pick back up uh but yeah
