you live from the crib in La man we outside so if you hear some cars passing by or some Sirens just know it's it it's life out here uh man we were able to track down I've been trying to track this dude down for like two three years and he told me hold on man I got a lot of [ __ ] coming out I want to talk about it and we're finally here man we want to welcome one of the most iconic College athletes of all time my neighbor live right down the street stre right down the street we neighbors kid kids go to school together kids go to the same school a lot going on right now this is a really hot time for the NCAA uh particularly yourself as well yeah um where's your state of mind right Lawsuit vs. NCAA now because you're not a very outspoken person but I've been seening you kind of talk your [ __ ] on Instagram a little bit so where are you at right now with all this NCAA stuff and trying to write their wrongs and and still haven't write at all their wrongs where do you stand with it I have a open lawsuit right now against the NCAA for defamation of character okay so that's what's next for me when it in regards to the NCAA we filed the defamation character lawsuit uh few month or about a year ago but it was based on a statement that they made about about me saying that I was uh I wouldn't be reinstated which I'm technically still not reinstated right now so I got my Heisman Trophy back I'm in the Hall of Fame but I don't have any stats so the fight still continues you know what I'm saying so we're still working through this thing um but I have the open lawsuit right now against them for defamation of character for a statement that they released about me that was not true um that they also don't have proof of um and today I got a text this morning um from my attorneys that um the motion to dismiss that the NCAA filed was denied so that's obviously a huge ruling in our favor because that's the best they could have hoped for to get it thrown out of court and you know we expected that too um I expected them to not want to see me you know what I'm saying because they understand and they know um they lied and it's only a matter of time before the truth comes out and that's ultimately what's happening right now um literally as we speak facts are coming out the truth is coming out and it's all it it's all bad on NCA part you spoke a little bit before we got on air you have a big documentary a six- part documentary you want to speak to that a little bit and and and and kind of what that will entail I don't have a six-part series yet but it will be you know around there um four six8 we'll see but there there's so much information um that's going to be in this documentary it's all new information so it's nothing that anybody knew or thought they knew about my story um you know there's a lot that was covered up um in My Story by the NCAA um there was a lot of dirty [ __ ] that they did in the media um you know just releasing little things to damage my character U one of the biggest ones was basically calling me a cheater when I've never cheated a day in my life and you know my definition as a athlete of a cheater is somebody who's taking some kind of performance enhancing drug or trying to somehow directly affect the game in a way in their favor um I've never felt a drug test in my life um you know so it's it's just crazy to me that um I was somehow labeled a cheater when I never cheated um and but it goes to show you the depth of which the Inca was willing to go to paint me as the bad guy to make me Public Enemy Number One and to really cover up what they were truly doing behind the scenes which was you know continuing to exploit um athletes obviously congratulations for getting your Heisman Trophy back but when you do dig a Little Deeper it came from the Heisman trust yeah it didn't actually come from the NCAA again you mentioned earlier you haven't definely haven't been Vindicated there's no real trace of you in the SC record books they took your guys' Championship away so how hard and frustrating was it at the time because while that stuff was happening this wasn't really a social media era and again you're not a very talkative person so you kind of would just read all the [ __ ] and whatever they said went exactly so how hard was that for you it was very hard because like you said you're loing they had a louder microphone at that time than I did that's that was the only difference their their microphone was way louder and much bigger than mine um I have been saying the same thing from day one um from the time you know I was a rookie in the NFL and you know they were alleging all these things against me uh we did nothing wrong um this was all you know came from the NCA and their attempt to take down USC everything that we stood for all the the success that we had and we created there um with my teammates coaches um you know they they really didn't like um that we were flashy as a football team that bothered them um it also bothered them that we were successful um and we were also right here in La at the same time you know what I'm saying so our team was big you know we were one of the biggest you know teams in college football me your jersey was everywhere you seen the five in La still that [ __ ] went triple platinum that [ __ ] was everywhere and it's unfortunate because um you know everything that all the hard work that we put in on the field y'all know you put that working on the court in the locker room in the wait room with your teammates with your dogs there there's nothing that can break that Bond one um because that's something that will last forever and me and my teammates to this day when I went into the college Hall of Fame a few months ago in Las Vegas a bunch of my teammates showed up and surprised me which I wasn't expecting and when I walked through the door it just it was like family all over again you know what I'm saying it's like it's like yeah we didn't even miss a beat got right back to cracking jokes on each other you know what I'm saying having fun you know doing all these different things and so um you know that's a Brotherhood that we built and it's unfortunate that this story has kind of overshadowed you know the success and what we really was about um during that time period man so you know it was tough for me um but like I said being labeled a cheater I think was was the toughest part you know going through that and also having to go through different stadiums in my career and hearing people chanting cheater liar you know all these different things and in my head I'm just I couldn't believe it nil has been a huge topic over the last few years NIL something we all missed out on um obviously they're trying to make a little bit of progress although money is not actually coming from the schools yeah or the NCAA it's coming from outside resources what do you still feel like needs to happen to just write this ship I mean the NCAA is a billion dollar instit football is the main driver basketball right behind it they're making billions top of billions of dollars thinking that a diploma or is equal to all the money they're making which it's not what do you personally feel someone who's been through the Ring of the NCAA and and still kind of telling your story with that what do you feel they need to do to start writing their wrongs overall well I think the first step was nil allowing players to make money off their name image and likeness because from day one you already owned your nil it was just that when you got into college football or ball basetball now you were stripped of that stripped of that ability and so that's what really the Supreme Court ruling was over um 9 nothing which basically said what you guys are doing is illegal and now fast forward to um literally a week ago um the settlement that the NCAA settled with now players being able to be paid by the universities by the schools that was the next biggest hurdle because now what that means is players will be considered employees and so when you're an employee you can collectively bargain you can unionize um and you can start to work towards better you know work conditions like any other job that you might have right any other place and and so that was the the biggest issue was the players and the kids were not protected and they had no unionization they had no representation right um and you think about all the things that's wrapped up in that right um and it was the players that were being exploited and also at the same time the money that we were making was being used to go pay for coaches facilities presidents athletic directors new buildings on campus everything yeah when you see a new building I mean I never forget you know we seen the the new basketball stadium you know go up um you know around the same time period as we know when we were winning I was like I wonder if we had something to do with that not something a lot to do it was funny too because there's supposed to be some huge robbery between SC and UCL and there is I think it's more for the students and the fans but I was a huge fan of you guys cuz I was a football guy first so being able to see you guys right down the street and what you were doing it was it was just always so impressive and like you said in the city with the Lakers mhm Clippers weren't that good back then but USC was it USC was the draw the celebrities were there like I said your jersey was everywhere like you guys really had a strangle hold on La and your three years at USC and we had I mean like you said it's the environment we created on that football field um like you said celebrities on the sidelines um you know Stadium packed 93 94,000 ERS rapping about y'all in college yeah it was you know the only thing you can compare that to is the U right because the U was that they were that team before us and I I never forget you know growing up as a as a young kid wanting to play in college and I was such a fan of everything that the U was doing the players they were flashy they were they were um they had swag um they I mean they knock knock your head off like you know just everything about those teams and you saw some of the celebrities on the sidelines there and it was like dang college football can do this you guys are a 2K version of that and and that's what the NCAA has always been afraid of because when you start to have teams that start to separate from the pack now the in feels like we might lose control right and they never want to lose control they always want to be in control and so think about those teams I mean we were Ultra powerful you know what I'm saying and we in in in in a good way obviously but again that's the thing that ncla has always wanted to guard against is not allowing the players to understand their true value and and allowing these teams to get too big to where they start to Branch off bigger than the programer the program EXA you uh Unleashed something on the NCAA recently on the Instagram post Jack's going to read it yes sir this is what the NCA was always afraid of the PO is in the players hands now and always been there they just wanted you us to remain ignorant and continue to believe in the LIE that your degree is a fair trade the truth is college football is Big Business billions are profited of college athletes every year while the players are given bread crimes and left to struggle through their lifelong pain and injuries I've had former teammates who've committed suicide and injuries sustained in college football college football is at the top of the food chain is it king of the world of college sports period the NCA plus University's powerful conference's benefit of college football and basketball and his players through the exploitation of nil they have always fought hard to keep players from knowing their true power and value but times have changed and people are starting to finally wake up the power of information is real and your days are numbered NCAA and I will be there to watch you bleed out with my trophy in one hand and the knife in the other that's right remember who cut you remember who cut you cut you remember who cut you with Jack reading that that's something that's been inside of you for a long time because as we stated previously earlier in the interview they've dragged you they demean you your family uh you know called you a cheater a liar did everything they possibly could and you've kind of just had to sit back and take it so to be able to get that out is somewhat vindicating yeah absolutely man and you know that's obviously been on my heart for a long time that came from the heart right um there was no ghost riders know nobody that wrote that I wrote that from the heart you know what I'm saying and that was before I got my Heisman Trophy back um I always knew I was going to get it back um the same way when I was in high school I said I was gonna win the Heisman Trophy before I even knew what it would take before I even knew the workload that was going to be required to go into it I just knew I could win that and the same way that I manifested it into my life the first time is the same way I manifested it right back into my hands the second time and this is something that has been like you say it's been you know on my heart for a long time I've been fighting this thing for 14 years um you know it's been unfortunate but um you know here we are and every is happening everything I mean literally everything is happening the way that I thought it would happen um there I knew at some point the facts and the truth would come out right it's just a matter of time you can only you know continue with aive for so long right you can only shout for so long I mean the NCW was was Ultra powerful back then you got to understand they're the almighty and the issue is they're the judge and the jury so very different than you know when you go to regular court and they have an actual jury that's separate from the they are the judge in the jury so whatever they say goes whatever they want to do to you they'll do to you um and you'll get caught up in this spiderweb of just you know issues in in different ways that you have to go back and fight them one it's going to cost you a lot of money because they got billions of dollars that they make every year and you know they can just wait you out you know for as long as they want until you either just run out of patience or money and so my running back coach um in 2010 filed a defamation of character lawsuit against him before I did and I was my plan was to wait until that case settled I thought it would take two or three years it took him 12 years they just settled the case a year ago he won he won and yeah he won got paid um they paid him 8 million and so but with the n they did was they made him sign a non-disclosure agreement so that it would get swept under the rug and nobody would find out so they've already lost one case right in this sit on this story and so you know now we've seen all these other things happen all these other dominoes that are fallen and so now you know 2024 is the year of Truth 2024 baby year of Truth [ __ ] better running High new college football game coming out you was on 2007 cover yeah uh with everything going on now you know how big the game is I can't wait for it to play they owe you some money huh yeah they they owe me a lot you know what I'm saying they owe me Al lot you know but you know how ironic is that you know what I'm saying you look on NC you see you look on that cover you see my picture and NCAA yeah over my chest yeah how ironic is that how full circle is that right now you know based on what we're talking about um and the exploitation you know that the NCAA was able to get away with for so so long and you got to understand you know there's this word that they have been able to create in every single you see it everywhere this word student athlete so this word student athlete I literally just heard Snoop Dogg say it on his uh his Instagram post talking about the uh the college bowl game that he has but people don't understand this word student athlete was created out of response to two um two lawsuits or two workers compensation claims one uh they both football related uh the first one a guy died uh from football injuries he sustained and then the second one was a running back from TCU who was paralyzed on the play uh from the waist down and the families filed for workers compensation um for the obviously because you know they're trying to take care of the family members and the medical benefits yeah they probably couldn't afford it back then and so the NCAA being who they are saw this as an issue for anybody that would come after them to try to file workers conversation claim so this guy Walter buers who worked for the NCA at this time created this word student athlete um basically as a legal defense word that they could use in court um and to get away with not being able to play players for injury sustained in college football and so when people say student athletes you're saying student first athlete second right for so long even though you got a scholarship to go to college to play basketball or football they still were selling you know they still were saying that you come here to be a student first and the football or basketball you choose to play is an extracurricular activity so that's why they considered it an amateurism sport right and so this word student athlete was created by this guy Walter buyers um out of response to these two workers compensation claims because they knew that anybody else that came after uh if there were any other cases that came after them they would do the same thing and so this all has been about just exploiting players and exploiting athletes um you know to the point to where they will create words secretly in plain sight and not even and you don't even know every time you say student athlete you that word is you're hurting the hurting the athletes you say that ex crazy I would be remissed without mentioning our brother Edo Bannon man shout out Edon you know what he's been able to do and the doors he started opening and the eyeballs and the attention he brought to this only helps everyone else such as yourself process absolutely that was the start and I mean how many years ago was that 30 30 years ago was it 30 actual lawsuit yeah no that not sorry I think that when he played no it was a long time ago it might been 20 years it might have been about 30 years ago yeah but and and it took them it took us that long to get to where we are now you know what I'm saying and that happened 30 years ago but I mean that was such a big momentum shift you know for players um you know versus the NCAA but yeah man that was that was massive that was huge no don't speak much came from the video was 2009 it happened because he saw the video game and saw like the players players being players being put on these video games being exploited yeah you know and you're not getting anything from the EAA nothing not a DME them games are good I mean there was never a college basketball game but the football game was always dope basketball gameb it was decent it was good [ __ ] it wasn't football game football game was dope yeah always been dope you uh with two things one I don't know if you ever heard this but you were so cold when the movie boys in the hood came out yeah people thought that was you on that running back scene have you have ever heard that I have heard that a few I ain't GNA lie I heard that a few times like that was that you this when he was in high school that's how cold you was bro first of all it's one of my favorite movies bro no question but but yeah that's that definitely wasn't me we talk we talk about the basketball the Evolution how the game is growing yeah how would a Young Reggie Bush in Current NFL, RB Contracts young Reggie Bush look in the league right now I mean first of all you look like you go you know yeah first of all they want you know my I was considered a small running back back then and so in the time period when I came into the NFL they still wanted a big running back and a small running back too to you know Mike all exactly and so my OG who was in there before me was de mallister okay dece was about 230 at that time I was 205 lbs soaking wet but you know now they want the running backs that can do everything and that's who I was I was a running back that did everything I would my my rookie year I had 95 receptions as a running back um I caught the football all over the place also return punts kicks and ran the football and so those are the guys now that you see that are now the every down backs I was just a little bit ahead of my time but had I been in this era now especially with the way they play defense cuz the way they play defense now is just wide open you know who remind me of you Swift kind of reminds me Swift yep yep I love watching him in college too he was a dog in college and you know he had he he had that one that cut that one step cut and go and get up the field um but yeah I love watching him man but you know if I was playing in this era right now you know seeing just with the way the shift of the way offense is played is played more spread out now when I was in the NFL when I got into the league they were still using fullbacks fullbacks are non-existent anymore we don't have fullbacks in the league anymore another receiver now so that period so that that position is completely gone and so now everything has gone more to a more spread out four receivers three receivers um some tight ends are considered receivers right and single back sets and that that was perfectly tailored from somebody like me who has speed vision can catch the football can kind of create a lot of issues for linebackers and so if I played in this era I mean one mistake is six yeah it's it's it's game over but um you know I'm also a fan of of just seeing you know how much faster the game is played you know because I do believe the game is just being played faster it's a more QB driven League you're seeing more dual threat quarterbacks come out now which I love and black qu and black quarterbacks um you know I think was it this past year or the year before um was the first time we had two black quarterbacks starting the Super Bowl Jaylen Herz and Pat Mahomes so you know I love seeing this this evolution of the Dual threat quarterback my son plays uh flag football but I got him playing quarterback literally for that reason because I want him to be able to utilize all his skill set if I could go back to college and do it all over again I'll I'll play r i play quarterback you should see how fast his son plays basketball one of my sides boy you see how fast he is on the basketball court like he just tell it's in him he' be taking off I'm like oh that there's blood's even with running backs being a Hot Topic right now and and a lot of teams trying to figure out how they can get a key running back to be successful it's still the lowest paid yep what's your opinion on that it sucks man I hate seeing that bro because um you know yeah because running backs take the biggest beating they take the most contact on every single play and um you know it's it's a it's a very very tough position to succeed in especially now in this day and age and stay healthy and stay healthy that's the other that's the biggest issue right is staying healthy um you know most running backs especially you know we talk about this era running backs you're always outweighed always by the linebackers by the D lineman um and so you got to think every time you run through that through that line you're hitting there's seven or eight guys that are way bigger than you that you got to run through and so by Nature that position is not designed for you to last long just by Nature um you know I believe though there that there are still some great running backs out there that can carry the load um that can be the Difference Maker you know I think as much as I've loved the speed of the game and where it's gone and how much as a passing game I think we also need to get back to running the football a little bit more too because that balances out you know what you can do on offense you know if you have a good attack from the running back uh from the back field that's everything for the qu that helps the lineman too yeah exactly L hate dropping back every exactly L hate dropping back 50 60 times a game they they like you know they big they want to put their weight on somebody they don't want to go forward you know so when you going backwards all the time you know that's not that's not fun how's your body I mean High School College Pros I mean we'll talk about the accident you had uh the slip you had but how was your body overall so my body now is is is great man I feel I feel amazing um you know but when I when I retired from the NFL how long you been out uh it's going on six years now yeah man it's going on seven for me I might even be a year off it might seven years for me um but you know it's crazy how time you know how fast it just goes man you know the game it's a young man's game game not going to wait for you um but you know for me I played 11 years in the NFL as a running back which is a long time yeah and I was fighting through my my last two years man I was fighting through some pretty bad injuries and mostly all from my left knee mhm um so I torn my PCL medial miniscus I've had micro fracture surgery and I've torn my lateral miniscus as well and so all those you know injuries you know required a significant amount of time period as you guys know to come back from and you know what the issue was for me was coming back from those injuries as fast as you have to come back you got to bounce back that right that next year and you got to be just as good as you were the year or somebody else is coming to take your spot and so over time you know I just I couldn't get myself my body back healthy enough in order to play you know football so I retired and I was dealing with a lot of injuries from my left knee um I saw a bunch of doctors um uh pretty much all of the doctors I saw told me I needed knee replacement surgery and you know that in your 30s that's crazy exactly and and and that was the biggest um you know discussion I was I was asking the doctors well I'm only in my I'm still in my 30s to do it again so if I get it now I have to do it again and knowing how active I am am I going to be back on the Shelf in the next 15 20 years and so um they obviously all said it's a big possibility you know so you know now I'm faced with this dilemma of what do I do right and so I went right away started doing research uh started looking for answers um you know started doing started working on my body for for one most importantly I started putting work into my body and and I think that was something that I I truly needed I needed to put more Focus back into my body getting strong getting healthy and so I started doing that um and I connected with this company Victory insoles um they have these carbon fiber insoles that I lo that I use every single day and these insoles um are amazing and I would recommend them to anybody especially athletes but um they've been able to give me some technology and some extra extra lift on the left side that just helps balance out my walk and then from there now that my walk is more balanced out now more about me you know getting my body back stronger and healthier um but you know as far as the the pain that I was dealing with on a daily basis man um it was excruciating and it was one of the worst things you know that that I've had to go through because it was a daily pain and when you're in Daily pain it affects you mentally it affects how you respond to people it affected how I responded to my kids my wife and you know I saw things that I just needed to to fix about myself and and about my body that would help my overall health yeah yeah so hopefully that a long ass explanation that got to it that's good you um number one player in high school Playing in HS with Alex Smith played with Alex Smith what was that like that was awesome man Alex was is he one year older than you yeah one year older than me San Diego yeah 619 is it 619 619 619 n it was awesome man playing with Alex you know we didn't lose a football game we went undefeated every year uh um you know we our team was loaded you know we were football school my high school Helix High School y lose a game in high school didn't loseing game bro oh listen hold on this is crazy so by the time I got to the NFL my total career I had only lost three games total that's college and high school that's college and high school I had lost a total of three games so when I got to NFL and then we went to my rookie year and we went to the NFC championship game I was like oh this is just how it's going to be for the rest of my career you know I thought I was just gonna be winning every year and you know obviously you get humbl playing but um but yeah man going back to playing with Alex you know it was awesome um having a quarterback like that you know I've been blessed really to play with great quarterbacks and you know that to me has helped my career more than anything because when you're surrounded by great talent um it it just it makes everything else better and Alex is a great leader um he was a great you know team captain for us um he was a great player just a good person though too good person and um you know it comes from a great family too his dad was our principal and uh you know but Alex I love the way that he he attacked the work you know he always worked his butt off he always showed up he always played hard um and his La the last year was my was my junior year that's where we really started to throw the football more and um once we started throwing the ball more we started spreading out the offense that's when he started getting recruited and uh you know the rest of his history he went to Utah had a great great career Utah with Urban Meyer um put them on the map and then obviously went to the NFL he's um I don't know him too well but he he says a lot of positive things on our post on our all the smoke page and on my page he's s a lot of positive stuff yeah man rough ending yeah exactly he went through you know I mean God dang you know as as tough as an injury can possibly be humanly possibly be man you always hear you know I would I would always hear stories of you know just different um surgeries that went bad you know somebody caught some kind of infection or something almost had to amputate his leg at some point and you know those are the sto those are the horror stories that you just never want to go through especially somebody like me who was going through you know surgeries and injuries constantly in and out of the hospital doctors and you know knock on wood man I was just so happy that you know obviously you know I was able to go through all my stuff you know healthy yeah um but but Alex man great great guy his injury opened up the door for Pat Mahomes right exactly yep so crazy growing up in San Diego what it Growing up in San Diego, Watching LT watching leam and Thomason do for you man it was it was everything for me bro it was watching LT and with the Chargers you know growing up in San Diego um you you're naturally a charger fan and you know our two biggest biggest athletes you know from San Diego was Junior SE and Tony Gwyn in baseball and if you played either one of those either one of those Sports you wanted to be like those guys MH and so I grew up watching those guys and then I got to high school and college and started watching LT and just watching the way that he ran the football um I would run into him at a lot of the high school um you know award ceremonies he would be he would always show up and be the honorary you know celebrity athlete to come and hand out the awards and so we connected in high school stayed in touch in college and then um so my sophomore year um after my sophomore year finished I was up for the Heisman Trophy didn't win and so I knew that I had a shot to possibly win it the next year so I was like man I got to take my work ethic I got to take this thing to the next level and so I hit LT I was like let let me come and just start working out with you cuz I want to work around the best I want to see what it's like and we got in we went worked out together he whooped my ass a couple times in the workouts and but what it did for me was it showed me how the best works at that time and where I need to get to and so you know I'm so appreciative to LT you know for allowing me to just be around him in those times because it just it really motivated me and showed me okay I see what the best is working and how he working but I can get there and I feel like I can do it even better and so that summer I went to work you know after working with LT and then you know the next year uh that next season won the highman trophy that was ugly how many people can say that though right and when you in high school I get up on the call LT like I need to turn my game up what you got pull up young fell yes sir but you know I love you know and that's what I try to do man I try to pass it back down to the young kids now now we obviously none of us can do it anymore I'm coaching my sons you know flag football teams basketball teams I'm coaching my kids in tracking field um I'm trying to do everything I can to now dump all my knowledge that I've built and poured back into them and you know it's get it's getting fun right now with my kids cuz I'm now I'm starting to see so what's the ages now uh so my daughter's 11 uh yah my middle son is eight he's about to be nine and then my youngest aaman is six he's about to be seven mhm and they all play sports my two boys Run Track uh play football basketball and then my daughter's track and Tennis nice and um but you know again it's getting fun for me right now because I'm just seeing the work that they put in and the work I put in with them is starting to show up on the basketball court on the football field yeah that's dope I mean it it just makes sense with all the other hman running back from San Diego it was you just had to fit in that category huh with Ricky williamsan salon Yeah man so I uh so growing up we're at my area just my 10 15 mile race where I grew up as rasham Salon Ricky Williams Marcus Allen Terrell Davis all from that that one little that one area FEA all y'all football had to be the water yeah damn and so I seen you know I've had examples in front of me you know of guys who've done it who come from my great examples great examples you know uh Marcus went to USC you know Ricky Williams I mean he was everything Ricky was larger than life yes he was the man it was crazy and so watching these guys um and just knowing that they paved away from me um showing me that a San Diego running back could do it could come from this neighborhood and can go do it to the highest level it motivated me and um you know I used um you know all of that motivation to to to you know try and replicate that you know on the football field what they did and try to you know do it bigger and better try to exceed it and so you know it's it's awesome man our our neighborhood um in San Diego you know there's there's a lot of Rich history in football there Terrell Davis tdd Davis TD yep so Terrell Davis and Marcus alen went to the same high school yeah linoln high school so actually what's crazy is Lincoln High School you know for a while it was man it was it was bad it was real bad lean on me every High School I went to Lincoln all Lincoln around the world are East Side High East all of them East Side High what is it with the Lincoln and Mar Lu like that bro but uh but yeah so Lincoln High School now actually is one of the top high schools in San Diego um they put a lot of money back into the high school I believe their football program back over Coach yeah the football programs is uh competing they got state championships football they had that when I was in high school so they got State now that Lincoln has been playing in I know their basketball team's pretty good baseball team is supposed to be pretty good too so gyi yeah they put a lot of money into that and that's I'm so glad that they've done that because for a very long time that school was always um you know it was always known as the hood school you know and so now you seen all the success people pouring money back into the inner cities and that's what the inner city communities need absolutely get it back when the last time you ran a 40 it's it's been a minute it's been a minute the last time you ran what was your time you think remember can't remember my last time my last 40 43 4 fast what was your what was your fastest what was your 4 43 43 yes I ran 43 uh at my Pro my prod day um at USC and um you know I it I was a track guy and so track and field for me and that's why my kids run track right now it's because you know track is just it translate to every sport I don't care what sport it every sport involves running um except for golf but but you know track and field was everything for me in my career because I was already naturally fast but once I learned how to run technique I get into the open field just relax and just straighten up and it just I will pull away from God you still under four five I'm definitely still under 4 yeah you still yeah you're definitely we should we should probably go test this out I know right out it's been a minute gly did it recently [ __ ] ran 59 sh like Willam ran naked a four what 499 fresh up a night inep boy yeah what you think you going to do right now I'll probably pull something pull muscle yeah my fastest was a 439 it might not be that fast but I can do it it ain't going to be that fast though I could probably still I'm probably a sub five around that area uh Pete Carroll how Pete Carroll Impact, Transfer Portal instrumental was he uh as obviously kind of a mentor coach and a leader of that Squad yeah Pete man Pete was you know Pete the culture started with Pete um the culture that we created it starts with the head coach the culture that any team creates always starts with the head coach and you know he created a culture but you know the players took it and we just we improved it right we made we made it better and um but Pete was you know he was he was amazing because he always wanted us to have fun um but he knew how to get the most out of us right he knew how to get us to um you know work as him as hard as himly possible um you know we we had fun while doing it you know we see some of our games we'd be celebrating on Sidelines chess bumping um dancing whatever it was and so it was a very funfill environment and I think you when you're talking about college kids that's what you need right it doesn't need to be a straight business can't you lose them and you lose them exactly especially right now in this era with the you to be more different bro you cannot I don't think the coaches that I had would be able to would be able to thrive in this era with these with these kids because it's just a different ball game man and they they there's a lot more information that's available to them which is you know another part of it um you know social media is another part of it transfer portal um transfer portal right now you can just pick up and leave if you want to and so you know our team our third stream was a five star you won't see that anymore that's crazy you will never see another festar player maybe even sitting second stream because there's going to be other teams that are going to need him and want him and he can go and play right now make a DM like hey we got this for you see you next month we go make money right now so now players about college players about to get paid so now it's it's really open seas because now I don't why why would I go sit behind um somebody if another University is going to offer me money right now I can go start playing get film on me right now um so this transfer portal it just it changed everything man and do you think in a good I'm not to cut you off in a good or a bad way because I mean we all came up like [ __ ] sometimes you got to sit your turn you know our freshman year we didn't really do stuff but second year sophomore year junior year I mean what are your thoughts on them because obviously it is beneficial for some people to go get a fresh start but at the same time to me you keep running from the smoke at some point you have Ain Nowhere to Run you know it's I think it's a case by case um we've seen it really benefit yep some players so I think the perfect example is Joe burrow yep Joe burrow transferred goes to LSU that next year the team takes off same thing too didn't Jaylen Hurst they go win a National Championship he wins a Heisman Trophy first round draft that may not have happened if he had to just sit there and wait and so you know I love the the the positive benefits of it where it can help a player to go and start playing right now because for so long a coach could get fired and go get another job go get hired two week a week you know still while still getting paid by the by the previous school and so you know I didn't love that because players used used to have to set out a whole year remember yep s an entire year before you can go and play if you want to transfer so I thought that was an issue so now that they got rid of that um I love that the power is back in the players hands on the other end I think the players need representation when they're making these decisions um you need some kind of guidance and I don't even know if your school is the right one to handle that right like you can't just go have somebody from it's got to be a separate you know agent or somebody to represent you in in this decision you're about to make because it could make a break your future um and so there are stories out there of guys who get stuck in a transfer portal and the new team maybe brings in another player and the old team don't want them anymore I want you back now where you where' you go I want to say I heard a crazy number like there's 1,700 kids in there with only like 250 schools you know what I mean so it's it's nuts yeah so so now you got a lot more kids hopping into the transfer portal and there competition in the transfer portal stuck in The Matrix you can get stuck in that Matrix I like the the players having more power but again they need representation all right so obviously you're you're on the field at SC was well covered and and decorated what was life like off the field for you because obviously you had again like I said earlier you had that's what I'm saying that's 1819 your name is up there with Kobe in Shaq heard you driving six FES and [ __ ] what was life like outside of football during those runs man you know it was it it was it was good um you know Off the field life at USC it was fun obviously you get a lot of we got a lot of respect everywhere we went um I wasn't a big party guy so I wasn't out in the streets like like that um I was really focused on trying to get to the next level and so I didn't have a lot of time for for BS I didn't have a lot of time for [ __ ] and so for me um you know I would go out and hang out here and there but I was more focused on I need to get to this next level because this is not the final stop for me and um you know as much as fun we were having and we were enjoying it my mind was focused and it was locked in on where I need to get to and so you know it was it was awesome um you know obviously being at school and winning championships you know it was it was amazing man it was College was one of the best experiences of my life and um you know to this day you know it it to me holds a special place in my heart because I feel like I became a man in college and you know a lot more responsibility was placed on my shoulders right um you know everything about my future was right there in front of me and I had to lock in and go get it and so you know I really um you know I really locked in on you know school I tried to block out you know all the BS from the outside you know whether it was outside people you know trying to um you know I don't know I just tried to block out the outside people as much as I could man but unfortunately you know that didn't happen with this you know the situation with with the NCAA um and everything that happened with that um but you know for me again you know just being um around that time period I had so much fun I enjoyed it um the college experience was everything I could have ever imagined the journey and um you know that was the journey yeah like you said man the journey is when you look back on it that's the part you yeah I was I love the Championships but the journey being in the locker room with your teammates your brothers the road games having to go to study hall the bus rid all that [ __ ] 2003 where were you 2003 High School still right uh 2003 I was a freshman freshman at USC so that's the last time I seen you in person let me tell you why we won a championship that year and we went to a party uhhuh here in La for the ESP Awards oh yeah that's the last time I see yeah I want to remind you about that last I see we had a good time tonight cuz it was the Tampa Bay Buccaneers that super that year and it was us and we were all in the same party I remember that must be nice we had a good time nice I we definitely got you know we I mean whenever we wanted to go to clubs and stuff like that was no bigger place here in La you were the best player on the best team in college football you know what I mean so it's just like the world is your was a FR he walked in there BR Reggie Bush was it was definitely it was it was all up you know I didn't I didn't at that time period I didn't realize how big it was cuz when you in it you just like this is just what we do right but when you look back on it man and and I didn't realize how big it was and how massive what we were doing was and how we were changing the game and how we were affecting um you know people's you know decisions to go to colleges and stuff like that man it was it was you get done with your doc let's work on the SC doc absolutely yeah Relationship w/ Vince Young absolutely people in Texas we us jerseys and we was rooting for Vince Young regie got a Reggie bu Jersey that's my dog man Vince yeah game bro what's what's crazy you know what I love about you know love about the game you know you guys understand this man is you know you know sometimes the players who are your your your rivals or your enemies on the field end up becoming some guys your CL homies and you know Vince is one is is uh you know somebody I have a lot of respect for because Vince also did something that I'll never forget um and you know after we played national championship game obviously they beat us um one of the things that we did me and Matt did was we went to their locker room yeah and we sought out Vince and the coach want to shake their hands like yo congrats like that was that was a good ass game best game ever best game ever and after that when this penalties were happening and the Heisman trust stri me the Heisman Trophy um one of the things that they did was they went to Vince and they asked him if he wanted the trophy if he wanted your trophy he wanted the trophy they were going to take they no they did they took the trophy from me and they were going to give it to Vince so crazy at this time period Vince says to the uh Heisman trust that's Reggie stroy yeah and I never forget that because you gotta think first of all he just beat us so now he they're on top of the world you know and they just took down the number one team great football game like you said one of the greatest games ever he would have every right you know what I'm saying or or in that moment if he wanted to to be like absolutely you know what I'm saying let me get that and I think that again we talk about that respect and that bond that you create on that Battlefield break that on the football field it's you can't break that and there's no outside business people no NCAA they won't understand they won't understand that and shout out to Vince that's my dog um I have a lot of respect for him you know not only as as a football player but man just as a man and everything he stands for and and for the decision that he made um as a young kid young 20 21y old kid to make that decision and to say that and to support me in that time that meant everything to me that's nil right now college football uh is heavy some of the top earners uh shador Sanders Travis Hunter Archie Manning value between three to four million with all due respect to those young Stars what what have Reggie Bush had done at USC in a full maxed out he would have took a pay cut to go to the n F first and foremost what kind of money you think you could have had in in this nil era oh my God man being here in LA in Hollywood um at USC one of the most story programs um winning Heisman Trophies national championships sixfold it it would have been it would have been amazing I don't know if I would have been ready for it um you know being that young yeah and you know having that much money uh or just having you know money like that you know and because also when you're that young 18 19 you're not financially no I'm you're not financially I get College I ain't thinking about the league I'm going stay here for you going just spend it right away you GNA spend all of it years senior so you know on one end um you know obviously nil is available to players now um but you know I was also came to the NFL the time period where um you got your money up front when you got DFT and now they don't have anymore because the the it's been slotted now you know towards veterans and now you got to go work towards getting your money getting that big contract and you know when I came out you got your big contract up front and so you know it's just it's just it's a different understanding and I think that's why it also speaks to you know why playing running back now is even more tough yeah because as a running back you really the lifespan on running back is really three to four years your risk ain't worth the reward kind of you you know the reward is not what everybody else getting no the quarterbacks is getting basketball exactly no guarante and so you got to think as a running back my career average three to four years how am I going to get a big contract out of that you're not no so you going to spend those first three to four years just trying to get there and they going to replace you right away and so now you know it's it's it's even worse for running backs because you trying to earn it but you the odds are stacked up against you you know even more and so that's why you know nil is great now I'm happy they got it but I'm also blessed that I was came through a time period where I was you know taken care of upfront yeah know and and and and I was smart with my money and saved it and you know now we we're good how many contracts did you get in the league uh so I did my rookie contract was six years and then I did a two-year contract with the dolphins after that four-year deal with the with the Lions but I only saw years of that yeah one year one year Saints yeah so what that's four cont only one of those was a big contract first one that was it yeah yeah second contract was I didn't even see that this last two years yeah so they just they traded me or they released me after that so really that's why I got my my contract up front that was where my big money came from first one but when you got traded did you feel like when they start trading you a lot like did you feel like you was almost done or it was just they was think hell no I I thought I had a lot left yeah it's normally like that bro it's normally like that so so basically what happened you know with my I had I was on a six-year contract um year five you know and what they do to you in NFL is they backload your contract knowing that you probably Not Gon to see that last year and so I never saw that last year in my contract but um you know but but for me you know getting um you know getting that money up front like it it set me up set me up for life you know I'm saying and so again that's just why it's so much tougher for for players now you got to go earn that money now and don't get hurt along the way trying to earn that money you might in that position so we were thinking before just kind of a little fun thing the top college star since the year 2000 yeah so we came up with you Johnny Top College stars since 2000 Manzel Caitlyn Clark Tim TBO John Wall Zion Cam Newton Andrew ree Mike Vick yes sir anyone else come to mind top star since 2000 yeah just 2000s 2000 on oh my God they put me cuz I'm going to think about 10 of them as soon as I leave here yeah is you put me on the spot uh this a question I needed beforehand um hey y'all go down in the comments on this part too and let us know who we're missing you just heard our list who else are we missing let me just give you my stars they not from 2000 you know just my favorite Stars period Barry Sanders oh prime time so Barry and Prime were the two guys I tried to emulate growing those are two guys I wanted to be like um you know obviously Barry for just how elusive he was the cuts on the football field and then the way Prime the Showmanship he would go back return punts get the crowd hype and I try to take a little piece of all that and toold into myself um also another guy Marshall Faulk course uh Eddie George in college was a was a dog State he was killing he running for San Diego stay right absolutely ripping off 80 runs take a break Y is that the the dopest Jers had some dope yeah the red helmets the red helmet with the strip going down the middle the Aztecs on the side fire man um who else Peter war was a guy man I used to love watching Peter some hands and some feet man I mean he he in college I I used to think there nobody that could be better yeah the way he stop on the dime um who else we missing God remember a bunch of them soon as we leave but yeah man I mean those are you know some of the guys that you know I grew up watching and I idolize that I love you know you know watching the way that they play the game maybe Lamar Jackson LaRon Pat Mahomes Lamar Jackson Ro Ishmael the rocket he was big at not day bro rocket was huge man rocket was huge he was he was Woodson was a superstar he used to come UCLA [ __ ] a baron he was a superar was there shout out to cwood that's my dog man still get it in CW we need some whiskey bro got that whiskey deck um the ey black you had 619 on it all the kids Iconic Eye Black, On Field Swag around the world start doing putting mesages on the eye um even um TBO took it further put the Bible verse on it yeah you were a a bigger part of the culture than just playing like swaging all that too yeah what you think about that and and and how that blew up and then Thea end up Banning look at that young boy right there they end up Banning it cuz you was swagging exactly cuz they again they don't want you to have they didn't create it the power that's why they could monetize it yeah they can't monetize off it they don't want you to have the power they don't want you to understand you can affect all these kids and the way they watch the game and the things that they want to do um you know but you know I loved you know one so the way that they kind of came about so I started actually with writing my area code on My Wrist tape and you know you always as athletes we always hear The Narrative of don't forget where you come from right and so that was kind of my way of paying homage back to my hometown and so I was writing it on my my wrist tape for a while and I stopped wearing wrist tape and I started wearing ey black and one day um Tino my OG uh Tino from uh he's our equipment guy came in he was like wrote he wrote the area code on it he was like why don't you try this out I was likee you think I was like what you think you think it'll look good so we triy that practice all my teammates went crazy so I knew I knew teamat like it I was like oh we got something so I started rocking it in the games and um but yeah this was before a time period before anybody you know did that thought about that and then for me you know I I love the idea of having my city on my face or somewhere where I can show see it through the face mask because yeah you know basketball players y it's different for y'all right y' don't wear helmets so you know people see y'all faces all the time football players I didn't even have my name on the back of my jersey yeah so think about that right y we even have names on the back of our jerseys so you think about that like they really want you to just blend in blend in like they really don't want you to stand out so you got to do different things like that to stand up I feel like you said your sock game was different from running backs your towel placement different everything you did he had a tow one arm SLE he arm he had arm seves he was like a Hooper for real for real around the back [ __ ] basketball in the M black CLE yeah yeah yeah um you know it was you know I've always uh like I said I watch a lot of Dion Sanders and I feel like a lot of that came from him watching his swag watching his style on the football field the way that he would create his own you know Persona he had his own Persona and it was very different and it stood out from anybody else and I always wanted to stand out with the way that I played the game and even the way that I looked on the football field and I always wanted to make sure my uniform had to be clean yeah you good Prim I always had to have a towel um hanging out and that that really came from watching guys like again like Prime like Marshall Faulk um and then you know the socks always had to be about Cal high and that came from Marshall fa so Marshall would always wear his socks high and so you know it's it's you know you when you when you grow up and you watch these Sports man you take a little piece from all these guys that you idolize yeah and so I took a little piece from these guys and when you when you again the pump returns getting a crowd hype I took that from Prime the socks I got that from Marshall faul the towel probably from Prime too you know what I'm saying and so you know you you you take a these pieces from these guys and you kind of mold them into into who you are and I always wanted to be different on the football field and so that's why um you would see me jump over guys flip over guys um behind the back whatever I had to do to get to that end zone you know it was you know for me it was it was more than just a game it was about life and it was about um you know I got to get to this next level I got to get to being able to take care of my mom my dad my brothers like because I want them to see the fruits of my labor as well when I say that it was 46 NFL players in that game yep what you think about that Texas vs. USC National Championship it's crazy you know because that's best that's basically you got two NFL teams playing in the college championship right now exactly and you know it was I mean that obviously when we think about that game we think about just the last couple seconds you know Vince scoring a touchdown um and that's what kind of game it was it was a slugfest it was a slugfest it's back and forth It's we can't get up from this TV right now we got to sit here and watch every single play you know and that and that's the way that the game also played out obviously on the football field and you know it was it was even crazier to be a part of it in person because you know we were up by two touch get a stop at half time we were up by two touchdowns at halftime even you know with everything that was going on and it was such a back and forth game and you know Vince just took over you know in that second half and obviously ended up being a difference man but you know having that many future NFL players uh on one football field at the same time that may never happen again right we we may never see that again because again you think about the transfer portals nil's players about to get paid um it's a different ball game now you lindel white and Charles and Charles um D Jamal Charles my hometown y'all all on the field at the same time in the ball game that's crazy that's crazy shout out Jamal man yeah man but um but yeah you know being a part of those games man you know as y'all as y know those are some games that you'll never forget you never forget those games that you know even if you lost it in the last second you never forget those close battles where you was dog tired after the game and you fought Toth theel you did everything you could you know those are the games that that really Build You Up on the inside uh speak of uh Shawn pton you know a lot of people got their different opinions of Shawn pton you know some Sean Payton, Hurricane Katrina people say he's a jerk a lot of people say he's a great coach everywhere he go he finds the ways finds ways to win you had nearly 100 receptions your rookie year 565 rushing yards um how was it and how how was Shawn P my rookie year um I hated Sean really I did I really did and drill sergeant and you know I have a lot of love and respect for him now but at that time period you know you got to also understand I I got drafted five months after Hurricane Katrina so we went to a team that was literally depleted literally no energy no culture no nothing we had to infuse all of that that first year there together and was Sean's first draft pick you know so I I I was obviously more than happy to be there on the team but Shawn was a disciplinarian you know and he had a job to do at the time and so I didn't understand you know as as much because again Sean liked to yell I didn't like coaches that likeed to yell so if you a coach that likeed to yell it was already like an issue for me because I always felt like you know there's a different way you could talk to guys but but again also you know Sean was hit with this significant responsibility to completely turn this organ organization around um I think the year before they didn't win a single football game and so we're going from nothing building something you know from from literally from scratch and we all I think felt the pressure at that time period players included you know especially me because you know I'm coming in as the highly regarded athlete that's supposed to help bring um you know winning back to the city still displaced at the time yeah no we didn't have a we didn't nothing right yeah yeah yeah so our training camp uh first four uh games of the season five games of the Season uh we were in we lived in Mississippi yeah yeah and so we didn't have a home stadium um because they were still you know rebuilding The Stadium from it flooded um a lot of Devastation that happened in the city you know so you know we we um you know there was a lot of pressure on us and Drew Brees I don't know if you remember um he's coming off a major shoulder injury basically tore his shoulder up the year before the chares I was about to say coming to there coming there yeah they still gave deal with the he was coming into a situation where prove himself nobody knew what he was going to be if he was ever going to get back to who he was um I'm coming into this team being labeled a cheater and dealing with the NCAA pressures of that and now all of a sudden here's an entire city that needs you to help restore Hope and Faith you know into the city through playing football and so you know we all had a job to do you know and that at that time period again like I said I hated Sean because of how much he yelled but then as we started to progress through the next few years and we started to see the the work payoff um you know we developed a very close Bond and now to this day Sean's one of my you know one of my good friends um but you know there was a time period where I like strongly disliked this dude um you know you know I don't know if you guys ever had that coach before you know that coach that yells a lot and you know for me um you know I just one of those guys where I I did not like coaches that yell you know so but Sean is he's a good coach though let me tell you crazy something crazy about you talking about Katrina yeah a 5H hour drive doing uh a regular 5 hour drive doing Katrina that drive from New Orleans to Texas was 26 hours that's how bad the traffic was it's normally 5 hours it took people 26 hours to get there that was crazy it was a it was such a crazy time period you know oh my God I mean there was you when I when I first landed when they drafted me um they took me on a tour through the Ninth Ward and there were still houses dead bodies that had uh were on outside of the house was a number spring painted on the house with a circle around it how many people how many people dead bodies they found in that house and so I'm getting drafted and I'm taking a tour through all of this I'm coming from LA from Hollywood you know from this you know it's very different here obviously than when you go other places right and so you know for me going being thrusted into that situation I right away felt the sense of responsibility but I also felt the pressure too and so that first year you know I think you know all of the pressure um you know I felt like was was on my shoulders to to go and win football games to restore hope in the city um and we we did that so you know after that first year like I said that's where me and Sean really started to I felt like our our relationship improved and I started to see the vision the purpose um and then a couple years later we won a Super Bowl you know um but I had to fight through two years of of injuries um before we won that Super Bowl and so you know it was a very Rocky start I think to my career because my first year a lot of success second year on the Shelf injured third year micr fracture surgery fourth year went a super M you know and so when you talk about just um I think fighting through Injuries/Toridal , Rams Lawsuit those mental battles and those mental hurdles um and of of winning and the pressures of that um when you get injured it throws everything off how was that M CU I know on the basketball side micr fractur guys never are the same yeah you Kmart Jak kid had if I'm not a lot a lot of guys how is that on the football side cuz you got a different kind of movei the the doctors told me that I probably had at that time time period after the surgery um they told me I probably had like two years left to play and and so I never forget laying in the hospital bed and hearing you know the doctors come in and was like yes surgy went great you know you probably got you know another year two three max you know to play in the league I end up playing another six um but it was tough because the year we won a Super Bowl um my fourth year pretty much before every game I was getting my knee drained and um I was also you we also have to take toll shots toll shots to just to be able to get through the pain um you know and so there's it was a lot man um and just I think the the constant swelling of my knee and getting it drained that was the roughest part because you know once you get it drained [ __ ] man it hurts it hurts like hell what to do do for you would it make you did did did it go away or do you still felt a little bit of pain with that cuz that tool was super human for me it it worked for about the first half and then that second half you like right back you know right back to that pain some people double up yeah really oh yeah some people first before the game and then at half time another one at half time and so I had to do that a few times as well um just because again you know the pain of of getting hit getting tackled on that knee and it's just not as strong you're fighting through these injuries and it's getting swollen after every game and then you get on planes it's give more swollen um you know it was this was definitely tough the lawsuit when you slip in the stadium with the Rams what happened so I was uh returning the punt I was playing for the 49ers at this time and I'm running to the sideline and as I'm running out of bounds I'm running full speed I get pushed so now I'm going even faster and about it felt like about five yards from the out of bounds was a concrete surface that was slippery as hell and as soon as I stepped on it my feet went from underneath me slipped tore my lateral miniscus and that was in your bad knee already too right already on my bad knee so um that pretty much ended my career um and that was year 10 um I ended up getting another year out of you know playing another year which I really didn't do much but um I was in Buffalo for a year um but that pretty much ended my career because I was already you know again it was already the need that I had been through a lot of injuries with and then going through that situation of slipping and falling and tearing it again um I kind of knew and I never forget I was sit in the locker room when you know the doctors you we went and got x-rays and they were like yeah it's probably something torn I remember that at that moment I was like yeah I think my career is probably over Dam you know what I'm saying because it's just I'm already year 10 and I'm playing running back they already trying to replace me it was tough going through that nobody wants to end their career like that right you want to walk out on your own terms but you know unfortunately it didn't end like that for me um but you know I I uh went through a a lawsuit with the Rams and uh you know we won the lawsuit congratulations yeah that's crazy that's kind of a hard way to go out not on your terms yeah um your transition postc Transition to media, Golf + business side career you transitioned into media uh what got you into that and and how have you enjoyed that always knew that you know doing TV some kind of form of being an analyst broadcasting was was going to be the next easiest transition for me and um you know I wanted to do it until I figured out um you know what was going to be that next big thing for me um because again I had to I had to get a job I had to pay some bills and take care of my family still and so I had a lot of relationships that I built U while I was playing football and so I would go into Fox uh NFL Network some of these other networks and I would do uh shows but yeah so I uh the transition for me um you know I always knew I was going to step right into you know doing some kind of TV work um whether that was being an analyst whatever that is and so you know I would do shows uh while I was playing to try to build those relationships early on so that way once I retired I already had a relationship I was already locked in I already had my people and so I I uh I stepped right into NFL Network and so I started doing NFL network uh I think I did that for about three four years I did uh Thursday night football with Smitty and with ER for for about two years so that was fun and I transitioned from there over to Fox where we're doing a college football show uh big newon kickoff um and I enjoyed that you know I really enjoyed and I didn't think I was G to like it because um you know when Fox initially came to me I was like why would I go back to college football you know what I'm saying after everything I've been through you know why would I step back into this environment where you know there's a ton of just pain and Trauma um and they convinced me you know to to do it and they wanted to build a show around me um which you know gave me some confidence and uh you know we did it for a couple years um got to the point to where you know the our ratings were competing with ESPN game days college game day and when you think about that you know college game day is the Godfather of all this when we talk about college football college basketball they basically created it Y and so for us to be able to compete with those numbers um in our first three four years of inception was great and was big um and so I since I've stepped away from it uh because I wanted to focus on my own projects and one of those projects is the documentary um also this lawsuit you know with NCAA I wanted to go back and get my Heisman Trophy and I just had things that I needed to go get done and I felt like if I didn't put the time and the focus and the effort into it then it wasn't going to get done or it was just get drug out another you know 5 to 10 years and so um that's kind of where I'm at right now man it's just working on my own projects um and and things that you know I want to do talk to us how you picked up Golf and how much you enjoying that man um you know golf is is has really helped me in a lot of ways because um again I can't play football at a high level anymore um I don't really have that Arena where I can go compete anymore um but you know there's competition on the golf course right and you host your own charity golf tournament every year um and you understand you what it's like to hit that perfect golf shot right when you hit that one good golf shot it only takes one day a bad one that takes that one and it just captures you you know and so I found the the sport you know through my teammates we were playing competing talking trash betting money and you know it right away captured me and I think there's also something about you know being on the grass too you know for me that just it speaks to me it speaks to it speaks to my spirit and so golf has really given me something to um uh you know I always feel like when when we retire you know from our Sports you know you we go through this uh period of um you know who am I now you know what am I going to be what am I going to do now um you know I'm still young enough to be an athlete but your whole life ahead of you but I can't I can't play that sport anymore and so golf has really given me the opportunity to be the athlete still and so I play a lot of golf um you know I my I train my kids you know I coach them in golf um you know we have our days per week every Tuesday we go out in golf we go to baloa golf course and just you know mess around and play golf um you know but it's it's been amazing it's been it really has it's been amazing for me talk to us about what you're wearing this this this partnership yeah man and by the way I'm an XL but go ahead got y XL too so you know we talking about Golf and my passion my love for golf and um you know I've been focused on building a lot of business in golf and one of those is in the fashion industry and so I've I got a chance to link up with Travis Matthew um which is a brand that's focused in golf um and I think you know it organically started from there they have a love and a passion for golf and so do I um and I saw a space where I felt like I can offer um you know some uh some design you know I want to be able to design my own clothes and design um you know my own golf clothing and so Travis Matthew gave me that opportunity and uh it's been awesome man so far so this jacket has been one of the top sellers for right now for Travis Matthew um we designed this you see you know and and my whole goal you know with our outfits is to design outfits M and so I want to take all the thinking out of it for you you see we got the jacket the pants there's also a hat to match we got a shirt to match it guy I am too exactly top the Bott men may not playful for [ __ ] but you going look good the toe when we go shopping we want Simplicity all right we don't want to be there for three or four hours looking around you know my wife like doing that she like shopping being around for hours I want to go in there I see outfit yeah let me get that right there and I'm done and and you know really is it's taking that mindset of you know let's simplify this thing you know for for men um and especially guys on the golf course we should also want to look good on the golf course as well right and I see too many guys that look horrible on a golf course no Style no fashion no sense of nothing no swag SW and you know I want to I want to build that man and so I felt like that was a space where I could create and uh so this is the first drop um we got some new fire stuff coming out though in September I'm G make sure I get all your sizes packes I live on the golf course 18th hole so I need it don't even play he live on that that look good out there but also too I mean obviously something you may not want to touch on but the obvious thing is just the the explosion in Black golf again and kind of Crossing that brand over into that genre you know what I mean so that's huge that's that's huge you know you see um all so many athletes right football basketball baseball hockey soccer um you know athletes playing at a high level um you know I play in American uh the American Century golf tournament every year in Lake Tahoe and that one is filled with just who's who Who's Who right the top of retired to current you know athletes you know Steph Curry played lights out last year I mean this guy hit a hole in one I could and he had that crazy ass putt that went up came down yeah he and seeing you know guys like that you know guys like him Michael Jordan you know was was probably one of the first you know bigname athletes to to to Really step in the golf play 36 before a game exactly that's crazy that's crazy to go play 36 before B drink drink beer smoke cigar stop at McDonald's 40 that's crazy only and go ball out yeah only MJ what's your handicap right now I'm down to 4.5 right now oh [ __ ] that's serious that's I'm working I'm working I'm working on it you know I want to get down to a scratch that's my goal um and and and again I want to I want to like you said you know there's there's more um you know black athletes and people of color that are playing golf now more than ever more than ever golf is at its peak as far as you know the amount of people that are playing the sport um even since covid the number went up even more um because of that time period we were forced to social distance and golf was the only sport you really get social distance you know what I'm saying you can get out you can be away from people hit your shot you know what I'm saying and and so um we've seen the sport really grow over these last few years and I just love the fact that there's so much so much more of us on the golf course cuz we play golf different we talk [ __ ] we bet money we going to let you know we going to let you know if you hit a bad shot some weed out with us it's not going to be cigars we going have fun you know what I'm saying and and and that's what I love about um our culture and the way that we do golf is um we do everything different everything different more style yeah we do we bring style to it you know so that's all I want to do man I want to bring some style to the golf I love it I love it quick hitters may have first thing to come the mind let us know Quick Hitters okay top five running backs in the NFL right now o oo all right so I'll start with Christian mcaffrey okay got start with him he balling out right now bang bang Niner gang um see I still I think saquon's gonna ball out this year I'm scared I do I think with the Philadelphia Eagles this year I think saquon's going to have a year because you you match him up with a dual threat quarterback like Jaylen Herz and that's just going to open up everything can't feel the Box on him no more three I'm going say Jonathan Taylor um and this is you know I don't know I don't have a particular order I'm just naming the running backs but Jonathan Taylor uh young guy I got to know uh when I was doing the college football show got to interview him earlier I watched him a lot in college and I loved his Run game I loved how physical he plays the game um how decisive he is as a running back is one cut and he's getting up the field for the Colts y jnan Taylor so he's another good one um Josh Jacobs Oakland Raiders J Jacobs the Las Vegas Raiders Las Vegas Raiders the Las Vegas Raiders um but yeah Josh Jacobs he's a beast man but did he's in Green Bay now he's in Green Bay now so he's in Green Bay now so I'm interested to see how that plays out for him and Green Bay Jones went to the Detroit there's another one too a bigger one uh Jones and a bigger dude yeah uh maybe light oh yeah lightskinned guy yeah I know you talking about um how many is that four y four Josh Jacobs Colts Christian mcaffrey I said sequan I'm I think Derrick Henry is gonna have a year this year bro I really do with that and he's got something that he's never had before you know with Lamar Jackson and you know Lamar Jackson he's used to having a good run game you know what I'm saying he used used to have good run backs but you know Derk Henry is a different Beast he a different breed bro and you give him that kind of space that again they playing space mhm you can't one running one linebacker is not going to stop him right you know what I'm saying so it's it's going to be pick your poison and I love seeing him team up with the Lamar Jackson so those are my top running backs that I think are going to play well this year one album no skips oh damn okay okay this that's hard bro one album no skips I got to take it back to Pac thank you I got to take it back to Pock if I'm go one album no skips easy call yeah it's got to be a PO easy what's your guilty pleasure okay strawberry ice cream strawberry ice cream first of all I wasn't a big I wasn't a big sweets guy but I don't know if it's like when you get older and it just somehow hit you at some a certain age get to may they easy to get to wasn't eating them as much I've been smashing this strawberry ice cream from um oh my God what's this spot called uh I can't think of the name of it right now but um it's the strawberry balsamic vinegarette ice cream fire what fire really is that from salt and straw salt and straw see you knew it you go to salt and straw Strawberry balsamic straw Strawberry balsamic what was you would never strawberry balsamic strawberry balsamic vinegarette damn it is fire a Sal and straw they mix the weirdest [ __ ] no they had this ice cream we got to pull up there I'm actually kind of mad they got rid they had this ice cream it was a strawberry there a sharberry ice cream with banana bread inside of it sound wrong off the chain n oh that sound right to me off the chain if one ice cream Is Wrong I Don't Want to Be Right this what I do I get the strawberry ice cream and then I go to the grocery store and I get some banana bread and then I mix it up with the with the banana bread and ice cream that's my guilty pleasure right now you go see 300 lb be right with I want to pull up one thing you wish you were better at o one thing I wish I was better at um tennis I wish I was better at tennis cuz right now my daughter is a beast yeah and I can't hang with her she whipping you 11 11 BR she nice on the tennis court and and um you know tennis is a sport I picked up with my daughter okay I've always watched it been a fan from a distance but now that I started playing it um I fell in love with it and you know just the the the um John the blank um you know there's just so much that goes into the game and swinging a tennis racket backhand forehand Top Spin um you know all these different things serving the ball you play Pick ball at all no yeah well now that I'm playing tennis I'm like I don't like ball yeah oh yeah cuz it's like yeah it's like a shortal yeah but ping pong table tennis that's my game we had that in the lock room everywhere I play I'm sure y had it too I didn't play it though I didn't play it I play hell no what y on little bit of pool uhuh I'm not good but I played it I'm not good though one guest if you could see one guest on our show who would it be but you have to help us get your answer on the show okay uh I feel like Reggie is going to be one of the guests that will help us but I feel like you already going you already going to know this D I feel like you got get on here Snoop we already had Sno a couple times uh did your man he said a couple names a couple names went to high school Alex that be what about Matt get Matt on here M even pc pc P Carol uh PC will be dope who else Great PC Alex be good too and Lindell talk on DMS every once in a while is he still in LA I think he's in Denver okay but another guy I play with I think would be great Calvin Johnson oh yeah definitely definit I can help getal CJ that's the home CJ would be great and I played um that's the home we had him Calvin in my opinion is he's the best receiver I ever played with yeah but you see this dude play in person um he's same height as you guys but he runs a 43 4 monster and when he jumps for the football stupid ain't nobody Jump fair I mean we we played uh one game against the Bengals and hopefully y'all can go back and look this play up it should be on YouTube or something like that Stafford I was with the Lions Stafford literally launched the ball up in the air it's three Defenders around him three people around him a safety two corners he jumps up snag the ball right over the top of him I think was like I think earlier I think I saw something on the ground where it was like they show and it was like [ __ ] it Calvin down there somewhere down there somewhere he down there somewhere and but playing with this dude man was was a treat for me because um you know I had never played with a receiv receiver for one that big that tall but also that was also that athletic and that could do so many different things um you know was fast um and it was just you know he was I think to this day one of the only receivers that was literally getting double teamed off the line yeah they was playing him like it was a punt double teaming him off the line like that's crazy to to say that we going to jam the double team Jam and forget everybody else yeah and and let anybody else still do his and he was off the tree smoke big time off the tree that's my dog that's our brother yes sir that's our dog man well Reggie man we appreciate your time we're really glad that you're you know you're coming out and and and and and speaking your truths and and writing the wrongs that have been done to you because for so long like you said you let that [ __ ] kind of just go and we're happy to hear that you you know things are going well with your production company we didn't mention Doc's coming that's going to be fired um whenever you want to do a show us I'm going to show y'all uh not on camera but I'll show y'all the uh Sizzle reel for so y I want y to see that but it's going to be Fire Man all new information all y in the world that was not reg on Bo in the hood okay it's not him I thought it was him for a long time and it was not Reggie and the dude had number five I think on the show man well that's a rap Reggie Bush you can catch this on the all the smoke Productions YouTube and the DraftKings Network man we'll see y'all next week e e
