how's it going out there folks welcome back here to a Monday night officially the end of the weekend right if you had this day off congratulations there it is about 9:37 p.m. California time September 2nd 2024 is a date latest activity here on the earthquake 3D Globe shows a 2.5 there in the red flag also notice here on the map we got some movement around Los Angeles there in Southern California kicking up with a pair of ones in the last hour so one around the puenta hills thrust vaal and one just North here around the San Fernando uh area uh not a not a lot of larger scale activity taking place but we're definitely seeing an uptick out here in the southern portion of the state um started off this morning with a a swarm of activity out here off the coast of Long Beach with some twos in fact upper twos and a couple other smaller Quakes in there as well uh throughout the day seen an increase here around the southern end of the state as well uh around the Broly seismic Zone and a couple other earthquakes scattered out and about here this little triangle well this little section of land that's cut off right here uh from the sheer fault and the plate boundary showing some elevated activity within that zone today uh and also some movement around the ridgerest area in Bakersfield Now if we just show the 2.5 and above map here well yeah there's not a whole lot but uh in terms of micro Quake activity we're definitely seeing things kick up out here in the last 24 hours and more so in the last hour around Los Angeles so we'll continue to keep uh areas uh in mind out here for some further large scale activity uh I'm still thinking Southern California could be on uh gu or should be on guard here for some larger scale activity uh I can't help but Wonder though the last couple Winters that we've seen out here have been quite wet at least in Northern California Southern California has seen some uh decent wet weather as well I'm starting to wonder if maybe we didn't uh get too much moisture down there and starting to lubricate the plates a little bit and all these various Vault systems showing some elevated activity uh it's definitely a thought process right if if uh um we get a lot of moisture there into the ground seeping into the ground sometimes it takes months for that activity to uh stir up some earthquake activity just a thought but we'll continue to watch that right now still some elevated activity out here through Southern California and Nevada got a little line of activity from The Walker Lake Area down through tonopa clustering going on there south of tonopa and some earthquake activity Northwest of Las Vegas a couple smaller Quakes out here on the creeping segment in fact we got a little bit of swarming going on here some twos out here near Parkfield this area uh let's see here yeah the creeping segment uh H it's roughly about in the middle of the creeping section there far as that earthquake activity goes but uh you know overall sign out here of some uh some impending strain out here across the plate boundary Northern California not so much out here uh we've seen a couple earthquakes out here in the Pacific 2.7 earthquake there off the coast of Northern California just shy of the Cascadia subduction zone um and then prior to that 4. to earthquake from this morning out in the blanco fracture Zone adding strain out here across the southern end of the Cascadia uh kind of curious here let's see what we got for trimmer activity tonight um bring this up 400 epicenters of trimmer uh a little noticeable uptick here across the area of where I would expect it to uh pick up uh the four pointer that we seen earlier this morning struck right off here when we do see earthquake activity out here in this fracture Zone it adds further strain out here against the subduction zone therea it looks like trimmer activity has kicked up here uh throughout the day today specifically in this area of the southern end of the Cascadia pretty decent number 400 uh let's see what else we got through the Pacific Northwest relatively minor earthquake activity and as we look across the rest of the states here a little bit of movement through Texas Oklahoma and the New Madrid seismic Zone with a 2.5 earlier this after afternoon nothing showing up here on Yellowstone but uh let me double check that uh looks like we've seen some wind events earlier maybe some thunderstorms out there uh but far as earthquake activity goes relatively quiet not a whole lot going on out here couple smaller spikes around Lake but but that's about it nothing major all right far as worldwide activity goes here well let's take a look here at the globe awfully quiet here Across the Western Pacific goodness this has gone almost entirely quiet and that's a time to watch for uh the West Coast out here Eastern Pacific area and uh down here adjacent plates NASA and the Coco plate uh this area um goodness it's awfully quiet it just it doesn't go completely quiet for long here so things should stir back up but I think right now while it is quiet we need to watch that teeter totter effect uh and right now it's tipped over here across the Eastern Pacific California included South America area seeing quite a bit of earthquake activity down south here off the coast of Chile uh a little bit of swarming going on 4.8 and the 5.3 here along this fracture Zone uh a little chil Ridge area so we'll continue to watch this region here for some larger scale movement New Zealand not seeing too much on the map there for New Zealand 3.1 a couple other deep earthquakes up north into the Tonga Trench uh Australia here getting a few earthquakes as well including a 3.5 here fairly recent South just off the coast here of that area and uh typical crunching going on here across the Philippines area and the Indonesia islands region really nothing of abnormal activity there 2.5 across the Mediterranean the Atlantic Ocean pretty quiet not seeing a whole lot of movement out there for now so keep an eye West Coast South America area looks like things are starting to kick up right now all right space weather activity here still seeing a little bit of proton event come in here from a couple recent flares I believe the majority of this activity is from this long duration inflare here um yesterday this is today's UTC time but this was officially yesterday um so that could stir up a little bit uh further overnight and should eventually calm down not really affecting anything aside from some uh low frequency and high frequency Communication System navigation systems but only up here across the extreme polar regions and the southern portion here as well uh but uh we shouldn't see anything in terms of the auroras in fact right now the Aurora forecast looks pretty quiet green across the board means uh nothing got a new moon dark out there 0% there in terms of the illumination there flare threat yeah it's elev ated about 25% chance ml at 70 c Flur around 99% chance there are proton potential as well uh we do have a number of active regions out here that are worth watching including this area down here that's currently flaring and a huge area out here on the Southeastern limb that is going to be Sunspot number 3813 most recent image here shows um a fairly lengthy train of individual magnetic cores associated with that Sunspot definitely uh of some noteworthy um flare potential here coming up this is where the large M flare took place here uh yesterday and all the proton event that we're seeing today was a result of that large flare and the subsequent large explosion the C that took place from the Sunspot this area has grown quite rapidly but uh really not too concerned about that for now I mean I guess if we were to see a large flare and a CME could get a little glancing Blow from it but it will be out of sight out of mine here in the coming days so this is the main area to watch here for some uh potentially some strong flaring uh Storm Prediction Center a little bit of um well thunderstorm activity out here over the next couple days really nothing big I do want to check out what's going on here in the Gulf of Mexico been kind of monitoring that for a little bit uh could see um uh tropical system down here here's the states North America we're going to put this in motion here and it kicks up roughly around the 9th or 10th of this month um and right about let's see where is it well that's a little odd I'm not seeing anything showing up there now see how these models change they they uh oh look at that beautiful low pressure off the coast here of Northern California unfortunately it looks like it it dries out before coming inland goodness that would have been a uh that'd be a nice storm but either way it looks like the pattern's starting to change out here for the Pacific Northwest and maybe some cooler weather here for us along the west coast as well but yeah I'm not seeing that tropical system down there in the Gulf of Mexico like we had seen over the last couple runs still a ways out and uh as of right now it looks like it's completely gone I don't see anything really forming out there in the Gulf like uh last couple runs showed so we'll continue though to keep an eye on it these things change left to right and the 10th of September is a good eight days away so you can't really rely too much on these GFS models that far out but we'll continue to check that we'll definitely check back on it here in the morning all right folks um I'm out of here have yourself a good day got a bunch of school stuff here I got to do tomorrow back into the uh fall semester second week little bit of earthquake activity there on Mount St Helens and a little Spike there it looks like in petroia as well but really nothing major going on here folks for now keep an eye though on Southern California it's it's been quite active out here um recently and it's continuing to stay quite active on the multitude of Quake scale out here multitudes of earthquakes on the uptick far as larger scale activity yeah you know aside from the couple 2.9s offshore we're keeping keeping it below the 2.5 level mainly Inland but it's still there's a lot of activity out here if you really think about it Southern California alone just in this area seen uh 66 earthquakes here in the last 24 hours so that includes a couple 2.9s out here off on the Pacific so just be on guard stay safe you know hopefully uh um everyone will be prepared and ready for the big one when it hits I mean we can't really say that we will right you never know when it's going to hit uh but I feel like we're getting closer and the signs here is starting to point towards larger scale movement out here somewhere uh whether it's going to be the San and's fault or maybe a couple other different fault systems out here that are well strained either way be prepared we'll catch you guys back out here in the morning have a good night everyone stay safe out there
