well the magic is gone for Channing Tatum and Jenna Dean the exes are battling in divorce court over money from his smash film Magic Mike which we all loved Pig Sig's editor Ian Moore is joining us now in the studio to break down what they are trying to hash out now can you tell us what this back and forth is all about so this is interesting at least to me it's interesting Astra the um so Jenna dwan and chaining Tatum split up you probably remember in 2018 in fact they're both already engaged to other people right he's with Zoe kravit and who's she with Steve kazy KY but they're still fighting over money from Magic mik you might ask why exactly that's what I was the most intrigued by um during their marriage uh he made magic mic in 2012 but you might remember that Magic Mike and you probably do is based On Loosely based partly based on Channing Tatum's own time working as a stripper in Tampa Florida when he was 18 years old now it turns out that he actually not only developed the film but he co-financed the film the film cost $7 million it made $167 million he co-financed it with Steven Soderberg so Jenna dwan is saying that she is owed part of the proceeds from the film because it was made with marital assets and it was developed while they were together and usually when you are married whatever you build half of it goes to the other person don't I know uh so so basically they've been fighting in court and now there are um some things going on where they're both sort of strategizing basically Jenna Dewan is saying that chenning Tatum's lawyers who are representing him in this case should be disqualified because they also Reed him um in some of the deals for magic mic so she's saying there's a conflict of interest his side is accusing her of just using this as a legal delay tactic to keep this case ongoing so they're both accusing each other of delaying the case and accusing each other of some like behind the scenes legal wrangling now I know that the paper say as long as this divorce case lingers on he'll continue to enjoy the unfair benefit of collecting the magic mik proceeds as long as the divorce case goes on uh this won't be resolved so he'll be still getting that magic mic money and of course the film LED to a whole franchise and there were two sequels and so yeah the longer he can keep this going in court she alleges um he's going to keep all the money and will strip her of her rightful proceed so I know you mentioned earlier that the two of them are in respective relationships both already engaged could this possibly delay any you know ongoings of this court case well that is actually the thing I guess if you were Zoe Kravitz maybe you'd be like hey I'm glad you're still getting the magic mic money but like let's hurry this thing up since we are engaged of course Channing Tatum appears in her directorial debut blink twice which is getting very good reviews I haven't seen it yet though full disclosure I mean I haven't seen it either but we sure have seen a lot of Magic Mike that's true I don't know if this movie is going to make $167 million but we'll see I guess we'll see at least that money doesn't have to go to to Jenna not yet not yet we'll keep you posted on more over at page six.com
