quite a quite a high profile match for winon Salem here we've got ET the ATP World number 34 against Bergs the ATP number 85 however Bergs in my humble opinion iion really really good up and cominging player who I think is underachieved in his career so far he's 25 but he's really got the potential to be going far above his ranking that he has right now it's one allberg serving with a big serve 6'2 goes down the middle with an ace straight away Boom showing what he can do with that serve question marks sometimes about the accur accurac accuracy of his serve but I'm not sure you can question the the pace that he can generate that that the all parts of this game 15 love going down the middle T but it's out second [Music] serve forand inside out from Bergs back hand down the middle burgs forand cross score eter and that is into the net from eter burgs 30 love up per serving 30 left now down the middle oh and it's just out second serve and it's into the that double fall 35 going to the T turn down the middle and burs his big forehand to the left goes out wild rush and that's what you what you can unfortunately expect with burgs as much as he has Brilliance as much as he has a lot of talent the ability to hit really big shots to command the point he can also be Rush with those shots and uh he prone to errors so it's 30 all Burg serving down the middle ER getting it back Bergs with a big forehand Up Down the Line ET cross backand Bergs hitting that forehand inside in Berg with a forand Inside Out nowra defending with his backhand Bergs with the forand cross core rra going down the line with the forand Bergs now defending with the backhand ex very slic backand Burg's forand inside in and that's brilliantly done just giving himself very just giving Bergs that extra little bit of time and um and that's what he needed put it down the line and uh very unable to get that one back 4030 G yosip hello hello 4030 for Bergs hits the net second serve goes down the T with the 400 rur to the net and it's game to burgs 2-1 so what we've got here guys we've got ET a very accomplished tall level player now um he's made great strides in the last couple of years established himself self in the top 50 and at 250 level he's a dangerous player that's going to be hoping to challenge the titles um and then you've got the likes of zizu bgs broke onto the scene with his run beating kachanov in Anor in 2020 and since then he's had a couple of standout wins he absolutely has the ability to play to beat players um with a much better ranking than him however it is just that consistency from Bergs um I would think surface wise etra is certainly going to be wanting that sort of high bounc in clayt fast clay court because he's aggressive um and he could deal with that high bounce with being six of five and obviously having grown up on Clay Bergs can deal with the high bounce having a very spinny forehand and it being quite a long takeback um of a forehand he needs a bit of time to set it up in the similar way that someone like Jack Draper might need it however um he can deal with low balls I feel a lot better than he's got a flat back hand and he's got a booming serve which lends itself to faster services and the fact that Bergs has won a Challenger in ille on grass just tells me that while I think Bergs is very comfortable on clay and Clay might be his best surface I think in this context he's quite happy playing Cher on an outdoor hard court um I I think he probably slightly more suited to Bergs than it is to etra having said that etra is absolutely not just a clay CT player he's had good results on hardc courts as well but I slightly give the edge to Bergs in terms of the surface however eder's got a lot more tall level experience and is much higher ranked so that makes for quite an interesting match I think very serving now one two he's missed the Ball Toss there goes out wide burs down the middle eter going inside out Bergs slice back and into the net Ed coming into volley he doesn't need to 15 love well it's good to be here a little bit earlier guys yesterday I was doing the M Mei match and everything all the matches just took a lot longer yesterday I was starting this an hour and a half later so uh yeah it's nice to nice to be doing a little bit earlier be getting a slightly earlier bedtime which be nice um but yeah it's 15 Love T very now goes out wide big booming serve and Bergs unable to control it that has been a weakness I think for erer for his height he's got quite a poor serve still absolutely a weapon but you would hope it would be if you're six foot five and a professional tennis player but that that was a really fast serve showing it off well there 30 love now forer now why bugs returns it down the okay it's out extra very serve that is goes down the middle bgs returning out wi with the forand running for to get the forehand but sprays it long good wide deep ball from Bergs there hello y tip yes indeed well we can talk a little bit about the cner situation in just a moment well during the next break of course the focus is of course on the ET Bergs match here 3015 goes down the T burs returning it to the back end and tree coming to the net playing the backand ground stroke down the line really accomplished there nice and safe and we get to 415 this is an encounter I think that has the is not they both got good serves not they're not serve bots so there's definitely chances to break but if they're both serving well it's going to be largely dictated by serve both of them very competent 45 now down the middle burs okay it's just out and now it's 4015 second serbs putting into the net to all now so where are we now to b s down the middle gets it back high up into the court forand cross from burgs forand cross from burs again forand Cross Court from AER and it's out 15 love to burgs I think for Bergs and the the key thing here is it's not it's not quite as black as white here as all first serve amazing second serve bad can attack it there's a little bit more Nuance to when it comes to the server zizu bgs and we'll get into that just after this point 15 love bad Ball Toss there trying again I'm not sure if there's a bit of wind there at the moment misses second serve down the middle great second serve backhand cross caught from Bergs but is it just out was is shot out no it was forand inside out from and burgs is back and goes into the net 315 what I mean by that is Bergs has got quite a fast second serve he puts a lot of spin on it so it's no by no means a second first serve so to speak um but it's pretty fast more than average but it's not accurate so if you can block it back you've got a chance to get a good return in goes out wide with the first serve forehand drop shot there Tre comes comes forward but just oh and bur he was going out but Bergs volleys Away really nicely yeah as I was saying guys so if you're the kind of returner that needs a bit of time and benefits from that extra time then you're going to struggle with the burg second serve if you're the kind of returner that likes to take the ball early and play quick shots you can probably handle burgs is quite well if you read it correctly anyway 415 Berg serving out wide eter with the forehand that goes long and we are at 32 yeah so actually you know what I'll just take this chance now guys talk a little bit about the teis between these two however I think my uh my break has meant we haven't got a lot of time I'll mention bits and pieces when I can but if not we'll have plenty of changeovers where I can talk more H very serving two three goes out wide Bergs going down the middle with the forehand very forehand crosscourt bgs forehand crosscourt Deep Boy Bergs going inside out now Ed very cross backand BS cross Inside Out forehand burgs backhand down the line and it goes into the net yeah Yip so burgs like I said given a little bit of background to him but primarily a challenger Tour player but in the last few months especially has uh dipped his what's the expression like he's put his head above the water going into the tour level he's ranked 85 so kind of a tour player a low rank tour level player 15 Love Now h s down the middle really good first serve or is it no it's out my bad so we're looking at a second serve here for hraber in theet double fault yeah Bergs obviously has stepped up being in the top 100 of course he doesn't have to go through qualies anymore as he did for many years and uh I'm sure he'll be very grateful playing in Winston salum rather than the US Open qualifying that's for sure but yet to really establish himself as a a proper tall level player he's definitely prone to coming out of the top 100 at some point 50 N goes out wide a very really good serve Ace fantastic yeah Cincinnati Bergs lost in qualifying lost in the first round of Hamburg lost in the first round of Wimbledon to Arthur kzo really close match there didn't make it to the main draw of Queens so just from those results there you can kind of start to see that um he's kind of getting to the tour level but not as much as he would like I'm sure so it's 3015 now for retraer andur with the big 4and after the surf zberg defending with the back hand slid that D going down the line he misses and it's dir all yeah so with burgs he got to the third round of the French Open beating tabilo in the first round and marer losing to demitro in four having qualified so that's a really good effort um it's probably one of his standout results this year and it's definitely a respectable result but certainly there's a lot more to come from zizu bgs I feel like I said bit of underperforming I think 30 all now goes down the middle burs with the back hand into the net he's annoyed with that one was on his racket he just needed to block it back and couldn't quite manage it so it's 4030 now to ET and um whilst et's first serve is good Bergs will be hoping to make some inroads on it because he tends to have quite a high first percentage so that makes obviously it a lot more pressurized and difficult if you're not getting to see as many second serves exra very serving now down the middle but misses second serve B taking a big four off the second serve oh that is as perfect example as you could ever hope to see of what sort of pace zizu bgs can can generate with that forehand when he has that time to wind up to really set it up to load it up and when he unleashes it can be as good as that and that is just huge a giant enormous return inside in and now it is juice out wide Bergs with the forehand goes deep with the forehand Inside Out Bergs with the backhand Moon board to the middle and into the net there from Ed very so burgs has a break point out first of the match into the net second serve and go the Z backand he tries to run around the backand hit a big forehand return but that was ambitious you'd have to have incredibly quick feet to get yourself properly into position for a shot like that and somewhat unsurprisingly he doesn't manage it so we're back to [Music] juice why serve crosscourt from zeu bgs backhand crosscourt from zeu bgs inside out fromer forehand from zeu burgs forand from forand from burgs scrambling forand coming to the net from oh no doesn't come to the net burgs forand going to his backand forehand going to the backand again from Bergs and just you feel there while Berg's strength might be in his forand more than his volleys you just feel at that point is a good good example of where he's sort of going to be U he's going to make or break in this match and that is how he comes forward how often um because I think he really did have a chance to come forward there and finish off the point and he chose be a little bit sensitive to stay back and it cost him in the end that era eventually coming his Advantage now R serving down the middle burgs with a 4 return down the middle B and then burgs back hand crosscourt back hand crosscourt Bergs going down the line but he misses just wide three yeah so kic beating bz what was the score there wow 63 64 I mean listen it's tough because I mean form wise that's terrible from buyers amazing from corich um but we know that coric is a top there's a top top player in there and one that can do really well on us hard court so not a complete surprise anyway Berg serving three goes out wide and then coming down the middle burgs with a big forand cross core looping xay down the line with the forand slice from burgs X slicing into the net and 15 love a good return there from uh from met neutralized bgs's fairly fairly decent serve quite well and now it's 30 love down down the middle bags and then bags with the cross core very put into the net fory love now it's good service game from Bergs get getting through these first three points fairly quickly he'll want to be on top take control get the rallies shorter as I would imagine's got the bigger lungs compared to the two of them 40 love down the middle T really good return from metere volley from Bergs and uh missed the backand crosscourt interesting really good serve actually an amazing return for met and put Bergs in a bit of trouble um but unable to capitalize on the Final Shots weird that final shot was uh considerably easier than the return he hit you would have thought and yeah with how it is is the way it is and um yeah 43 now top five uh hello yeah Yos I mean car being a top five player I don't agree um his serve is decent his backhand is really underrated and fantastic actually like I I I don't know what it is like every time I watch him play and I see that it's going to his backand I just have this confidence in the same way I do with nisha's backhand dare I say PE maybe not these days he's really on the way out but back in the day pe's backhand was I just had that confidence watching it and I have the same with corage I think he's is really really good but his mentality not good like he's his his mental strength not good volle's not sure he's got good movement good good Pace but yeah I think realistically coret should be is he should be in you know between 20 and 30 ranked I think I think he's got the potential to be top 20 but not much more than that I don't see him ever getting higher than 15 yeah absolutely like that is a bit of a surprise to me yeah he's he just needs to get in that Rhythm and he's not in it at the moment and there's a lot of good players around to be honest like the competition these days is is pretty tough and I don't know how much corage has got in the tank to really get back up to that high high level he's not that old he's definitely got time but um anyway sorry let's get back to it shall I think I've missed the first point no down the middle backhand cross cour from man very BS putting the back end into the next 15 love into the net second serve into the middle burs hitting the backand cross score edra very Inside Out forehand backhand cross score from burs and it's long bit of a unforced error there and it's the sort of shot that it's not the end of the world you know it happens but if you want to break someone youve got to be making shots like that you know if you're missing you want to at least be missing because you've made a good shot selection and you just quite haven't executed it 30 love down the middle and it's out it's a double fault there from at very out second [Music] Ser go down to the really good oh my goodness fantastic second serve what second serve goodness me that count us out the double vult for sure really well done there it's 415 down the middle boom but is out so a second serve the middle BS backand crosscourt slice from met very Bergs with a big forand inside out but it just misses and it's game for all so sure so burs to Ser now four all goes down the middle big four hand down the middle then forehand inside out from exra backhand cross score exra down the line with the forehand beforeand crosscourt from burgs saes out let's see so 36 minutes 8 games 18 minutes four games 9 minutes two games it's been fairly relatively quick match so far burgs now love 15 serving goes down the middle with a forand return back on Cross Court from B s slice from forehand inside out from and then back and Cross Court slice down the middle Bergs with a forehand down the line backand BS comes in and is that a great pass what a pass that is backand from eter really solid there there's something about 's game that and actually I I definitely fell into the Trap of under overlooking him and under raing him but I think what's so effective maybe not quite that flashy but what's effective about his game is he plays powerfully but with a lot of margin for eror Berg serving now at love 30 out wide and it's out second serve goes out wide with thr forehand backhand from from Bergs and then burgs voling finishing it off at the net and it goes out yeah 1530 so with hitting with a lot of he what's interesting is when I when you hear people say oh he hits with a lot of spin that either makes you think of someone like Nadal or it makes you think of a pusher like caras Baya for example a lot of spin but not a lot of pace 's got this nice little happy medium where he gets a lot of spin but he still has that pace about it there's penetration to the spin BS serve down the middle burgs forehand Cross Court into the net and the racket goes and you can understand it um that's one of his biggest strengths and it's just let him down and and as a result he's looking down the barrel of two break points now back serving first serve into the net at wide Bergs with a backhand crosscourt very slic backand crosscourt burgs backand crosscourt Ed very backand crosscourt burgs inside out inside in forehand wow that is just gorgeous to watch moving around the backhand hit his preferred forehand and really whipping around the ball twisting of the waist to power that ball into the corner it's a it's a risky shot it's an ambitious shot but that's the game of zizu bgs and it absolutely comes off this time 3040 celebrate point to face goes out and that's out oh but is in no big forand Inside Out etra scrambling back hand slice and then rra bring it back in with the backand cross SC back slic backand from Metra Bergs going inside out slic backand from met Bergs going inside out again was just out was it from burs I think no it was out from I didn't quite see that well no matter it is Juiced now B serving out wide backhand crosscourt from burgs backand slice crosscourt from backand Cross Court from burgs with the forehand inside out in with the forehand inside out again backhand cross from Bergs into the net both players really favoring their forehand ET very though really using his slice to good effect here um and it must be a little bit frustrating for Bergs because what he's got iner seemingly at the moment is a guy that's very solid that's moving well defending well but also the ability to punish him with aggression when he needs to his break point third one now from R out wide serve from Bergs and then Bergs with the forand crosscourt Bergs with the forand opening up inside out slic backand Bergs with the forehand down the middle ET with the forehand down the middle Bergs forehand to the BET backhand Bergs with a slice ET now coming forward with the forehand and that backhand is out from Bergs and he sends the ball out of the stadium it's a break for chairy and he will serve for it bit of complaining from burs to his team it must be frustrating you know as much as I stand by what I said you know aesthetically I'm personally a much bigger fan of Bergs I think his serve very aesthetic and very powerful his forehand as he proved in this game you know when it's on it's just fantastic it's like I think it's got to be it's got I think it's got potential be one of the best aggressive forand out there when it's on I think it's that good particularly um on slower surfaces where people might struggle to create pace and I think I think burgs can create lots of pace even without a lot of momentum on the ball however what we're seeing is you know obviously the Catch 22 is you got to play aggressively to get past AER because he's moving well and he's got good defensive capabilities but you know Bergs is an error prone player he's got to manage that and try and keep the ball in but obviously you keep the ball in the rally goes on longer the longer the rally goes on the more you favor at TR it's that classic Catch 22 and it's why so many attacking players lose to more defensively minded players and actually that's even a little bit unfair to because he's more than that that's actually what makes him such a good Prospect um rra to me is the archetypal example of a player that will almost always beats those ranked below him because he's just good he's a very good allrounder with I don't see many weaknesses to his game perhaps not his net his net play perhaps isn't the best but aside from that not many weaknesses I do see him struggling in general with top players you know who can just bully him around or defend better you know against his forehand and whatnot but you know against a guy like Burg I think is definitely the clear favorite serving now going into the B body BS with the forand forand to the Bergs backand forand to the Bergs backand from met backand crosscourt backand crosscourt forand down the line from Bergs and again he's trying he's giving that aggression he's giving it all he can but it's just not quite coming off for him enough at the moment that is the problem now for Bergs does Bergs have the ability to beat ET absolutely but only if he's on a really good day like a really good day which obviously could happen but at the moment it's not 1550 love it's out so second serve going out wide Berg's backhand deep ET with the forehand back Berg's backhand crosscourt ET with backand crosscourt BS going down the line and it's just it's is just soaking up this any sort of pace that Bergs is uh producing right now unless it's a change of direction or it's extremely accurate just general fast shots that are not well placed could definitely hurt some players on the tour but not atra at the moment he's soaking it up really well absorbing that power and he's serving now 30 love into the net second serve Bergs has got to try something else or just up the level because it's not working at the moment it's RAC serving down the middle forehand to the middle Bergs hitting inside out and there you go big big forehand really well done from burgs there that shows it absolutely he can can do it but can he do it enough the answer at the moment is no and um yeah he's got to show those flashes are Brilliance make them not he's got to make sure they're not just flashes he's got to make it more consistent and he's got to he's got to annoy erro with how good he's playing and he's not quite doing that yet and into the net another second so Tre won't be too happy about this Bergs surely wanting to step around his back hand here and hit his for let's see backhand crosscore with the backand down the middle burgs backand and then a backand cross cour from burgs Ed backand and then burs with a for hand to the back edge with the four and then the slic back hand from burgs with the forehand to Bergs backand crosscore crosscourt from forehand down the line from Bergs hits the racket into the floor as he misses again couple of times there he's tried to get it down the line either with the forehand down down the line inside in or with the back hand down the line and he's just missing it wide notice now obviously you're going to make mistakes sometimes when you go for it but that's quite a few times in a row now he's missed it in the same spot and that's maybe something to think about for his technique something to think about at the end of this set which could well be for S down the middle it's Al and that's that's the first set from at really good let's go to gosp with in Yip which means Yip in Serbian or Croatian uh I've been watching T since 80s takes a lot yeah absolutely I mean how many players do we know that are wildly talented Murray I mean Murray is a champion to an extent for sure but you know how many slams everyone knows everyone says it how many slams would he have won if it was if he was born 10 years earlier you know um although as Nadal says if if if doesn't exist I love that quote but yeah it's um does take hell of a lot you're tuned in sorry guys it's earlier than yesterday but still quite late for me have you guys doing hope you're all good doing what you're doing in your own lives um yes nice to be here with you got any questions hit me up go for it um yeah it's been a really it's been a fun set so far um it's a shame not to see Bergs quite showing his potential um ET very just been really really solid really efficient and uh really professional it's called to be said um Bergs with flashes of Brilliance with the flare but not enough and um and let's see how long did that set take 46 minutes yeah so sort of it's been longer 64s but wasn't a pushover set and like Burg is not a pushover in that set by any means aside from that last game he look pretty solid on serve and um certainly he's still got the ability to win this match burgs absolutely he's just got to make some changes I think otherwise I think it will be a straight set win for et so BS now I think preparing to serve bur serving at LEL goes down the middle at Dre uh that's just out from Burg so we'll have a second serve again interesting to see what B B starts with a second serve here returning it really well in the first set return with the back hand down the middle B forand down the middle forand down the middle burgs Inside Out Back forehand back hand the line for down the line burgs back hand down the line and now Bergs hitting a back for crosscourt Shan they almost seemed a little bit rushed but but he did have a little bit I think he had enough time there to do what he wanted to do just didn't quite come off for for zizu bgs there and it's La 15 second serve down the middle Bergs forehand oh that was a good decent return down the middle from atra very B Bergs nesting the four hand and there's just something a little bit off about his rhythm right now he's missing four hands where you got to ask yourself is he even trying to hit them that hard like not sure but they're still missing which is a worrying sign for Bergs first goes down the middle B turns it down the middle burgs attacking with the forand Bergs attacking forehand crosscourt TR forand crosscourt Bergs forand down the line it's in the net again that's three four hands in the net in a row are we witnessing something of an implosion here from burgs quite possibly it must be frustrating I can just see it so clearly you know Bergs is hitting he's not hitting you know he's not hitting Wonder four hands that are so incredibly fast but he's hitting strong for hands and ET is just absorbing them so easily he's just putting it straight back and it's really quite impressive to see not particularly attractive or spacular but very impressive B serving love 40 out wide misses second serve now and you worry that is uh going to return this with ease and possibly put pressure on burgs here returning crosscourt burgs coming into the net tries to half Vol and it goes that's four shots four unforced erors in a row where Bergs puts into the net and he slams his racket into the net clearly frustrated um no surprise really didn't have to hit a winner in that in that service game hello Mr Max how are we doing welcome welcome um well I hope you enjoy the rest of the match I'm not sure how much longer it's going to it's going to be though if it carries on the way it is I mean so tight and evenly contested and you know hard to pick straight away and then sorry guys just missing it so exra inside in forand BS forand cross forand into the net and we're to juice so despite that little run a bad for from Bergs he's he's hanging in there and he's making play and now is faltering a little bit jeez down the middle the backand crosscourt Bergs backand crosscourt backand down the middle Bergs forehand inside out down the middle and then forand cross down the line down the middle from burs forand inside out from backand Cross Court from burs inside out from backand cross courau from Bergs backand cross courau from forand down the line from and then backhand forehand inside out from met back hand down the line from Bergs and it's gone long Wild and the braacket goes and yeah Berg is unhappy here and you can understand why not condoning the racket smashing at all but it's uh it's a very frustrating time to be zizu bgs at the moment that's for sure and the serve going out wide and burgs down the middle burs coming to the net passing him down the line what a beautiful pass that is really good um not not a horrendous approach from Bergs but weak enough that he gave TR a bit of time to set up and Laser It Down the Line still with a good amount of margin Ferrera good amount of spin but confidently down the line seals the game Bergs now it's difficult although TR is not jovic you know and Bergs can be playing better it's hard to know what to say to Bergs at this moment in time because you know what where are the weaknesses in etary at the moment Berg serving down the middle Bergs returning with the back end Bergs finished it off confidently and competently at the net and that's really the key to him playing well I think that's what we haven't seen enough of that's what we need to see more of just that Dynamic aspect he's a very high energy player burgs when he's playing well likes to get the crowd on his side likes a big match and so while you can't expect to be playing in big stadiums at the ranking of you know 150 OD or whatever or whatever he's been earlier on in his career I think zizu Bergs the reason part of the reason I say he's underrated is that and this is good and bad I think he's the prime candidate of a type of player who could score a big upset on a big court against top player at Ground slam he's definitely got that ability he's got that Showmanship he's got that energy the problem is I also see him being exactly the kind of player to you know beat alcaraz on on Center Court or whatever if somewhere and then lose to someone ranked 30 which is obviously still a very good player TR is ranked 34 but like I can see him not following up a huge win that's just what Berg strikes me as a little bit and look sometimes the other play's just too good you know burgs absolutely couldn't get beaten by the world number 30 three or whatever if the world number 33 is playing well there's no doubt about that but anyway we'll park that for a minute apologies actually very nice and make it through all however I am going to be slightly biased and say I do hope that Bergs makes the Breakthrough here and goes on to win because I'm I'm getting a little bit tired guys I can't lie at the stats here guys interestingly first percentage is pretty similar for both out of Aces similar for both two extra double FS R very four compared to two and actually the second serve of zzu Bergs is a good 11% better off than uh so terms of the stats Bergs is it's close but Bergs is slightly ahead which tells me burs hitting the serve down the middle coming forward with the forehand cross
