The LONG-AWAITED 2024 Video Music Awards Nominations

[Music] y'all it is time it is time I just got the announcement on my phone happening the official nominees for the 2024 video music award have been released so let's get into it right now what's up everybody it's your boy Nick here and here's part two of my VMA little Trilogy video series uh focusing on the 2024 Video Music Awards so unless you've been living under a rock uh you probably heard that the nominees have been announced and so now it is time to dive in and let's see who is up for a moonman this year and we'll kind of debrief it a little bit we won't get into it too much because we have one more video coming where I will be making my official prediction and I will definitely debrief then so let's just dive right into it I'm ready let's do this okay y'all so we're going to start from the bottom and work our way up let's start with um video for good I did not pick videos for this one um just because I didn't know that many songs U for video for good this is the category where we pick music videos that have a message uh in regards to like let's say mental health um self-confidence you know um just that has a message a positive message to send out to people of the world anywhere in the world so let's see let's see who the candidates are for video for good we have Alexander Stewart if you only knew Billy iish what was I made for Coldplay feels like I'm falling in love Joiner and jelly roll best for me Ray Genesis Tyler Childers in your love okay so real quick don't know who Alexander is Billy I'm not surprised you got a c a nominee for this category uh that song had a big message for women all over the world feeling like they um thinking back to their childhood kind of keeping that childhood a little piece of childhood inside of them as they get older um there have been many songs I've heard with that same message so Coldplay has a new album out I believe or a new album that is coming and this must be one of the singles um I haven't listened to it but I will listen to it soon because Coldplay is you know boss okay uh Joiner Lucas uh I believe this is his first VMA nomination if so congratulations my dude same with jelly roll he nabbed a couple nominations as well so good for him uh but I have haven't heard the song yet so uh Ry I have heard of Ry and Tyler Childers we talked a lot about him around Grammy Award season um but still never got to that song So category that was uh created last year for best afro beats uh the inaugural winner was uh calm down from Nima and Selena Gomez let's see who's going to continue that tradition this year we have Ira star featuring giving on last heartbreak song Burna Boy City Boys Chris Brown featuring davito and loj Sensational TS love me JJ Tyla water Usher and Fields ruin okay I know we talked about IRA and gon oh I know gon is for sure during Grammy season um haven't heard the song bur a boy um I can't remember if s on top of the world was nominated last year it should have been should have been nominated this year but bnab boy really good and then of course Chris Brown everybody you know still loves Chris Brown apparently TS Grammy nominated artist uh was featured on wait for you with f future and Drake tyla's water I should have known I'm not surprised congratulations Tyler same with Usher another big year for Usher um probably looking at some Grammy nominations next year for his album we'll see and I do not have predictions for this category either okay next we have best K-pop and I did have predictions for this one so let's see if I was correct we have Jung cook featuring Lotto 7 Lisa Rockstar NC dream smoothie new jeans super shy stray kids la la la la and tomorrow by together Deja Vu now let's take a look at my predictions uh looks like I predicted tomorrow by together I thought it was going to be for do it like that but okay super shy new jeans I predicted that one for sure Rockstar Lisa that song came out right before the cut off so I'm I kind of figured okay we've seen songs that like got released right at the end and yet they somehow were video of the Year worthy um and I predicted that song too so I'm I'm happy about that so yeah uh seven uh won song of the summer last year congrats I'm not I'm not mad about that either because Lotto is that girl I think that was it was a really good collaboration and we're gonna talk about that later uh like I said Lisa's Rockstar um Lisa uh one best K-pop I think last year was it it was either last year or the year before but she won uh best K-pop actually no I think uh I think black pink won last year I can't remember it was either black pink or stray kids but anyway Lisa has won best K-pop before and uh she could win it again this year too um I actually need to listen to Rockstar I can't remember if this is NCT uh with that number if they rebranded or something new jeans uh I heard about this band around New Year's last year and so I did listen to some songs and it was kind of catchy it was really catchy uh stray kids made their debut last year at the Video Music Awards I'm pretty sure they won something it was either K I think it was for best K-pop or best group and then tomorrow by together we have them as well they are very popular so I think it's anyone's uh it's anyone's chance or everyone has a shot at winning this one okay next we have best Latin I did not make picks for this category so we're just going to dive right into it we have Anita meses uh Bad Bunny Monaco Carol g m exenia razon Mike Towers laala peso pluma and Anita bellakeo and rul Alejandro touching the sky Anita has been killing the Latin world uh she's been like the pop charts um she has won best Latin video twice I believe maybe three but she has continuously won that award and she's got two chances to win this year so I I could see her winning this again for sure but then there's Bad Bunny and then Carol G Carol G won best collaboration last year with Shakira um so she has a good shot too I don't know who my is peso pluma uh nominated for Best New Artist last year and performed and rahu Alejandro uh I believe also was nominated last year too so we got a good lineup for best Latin okay next we have best rock I did not make picks for this category either we have bon Joie legendary Cold Play feels like I'm falling in love Green Day dilemma Kings of leyon Mustang Lenny KRA it's human You2 Atomic City all nominees are legends in the Rock World which is actually great I'm actually happy that all the nominees are veterans so it it makes it really good and it makes it more enticing as to who could win this I will say the only song I have heard from this group is Green Day's dilemma I did hear that one for sure so I don't know we'll see I'm going to listen to all the other songs and we'll see from there you two I want to say they performed this song at the Grammys this year um but I have to go back and double check so if that was the case then I have heard Atomic City when they performed it in the Dome the sphere in Vegas so i' be getting ads I don't know if you be seeing those best alternative I don't have picks for this either so let's just Dive Right In Benson Boon beautiful things bleachers tiny moves Hosier two sweet Imagine Dragons eyes closed Lincoln Park Friendly Fire Teddy swims lose control the live performance all right Benson Boon breakthrough artist well he's actually been in the music business since last year I believe um I can't remember if Ghost Town came out last year or the year before that but I remember hearing ghost town and was hooked on Bens and Boon and so this year he finally dropped his debut album and beautiful things was the was the number one hit from that album so I could see that winning bleachers I'm not familiar with Hosier uh too sweet I'm I'm proud I'm actually excited that this song got nominated and I was thinking about it too as I was going to work today you know Hosier the last time I heard a number one hit from them I'm sorry this is just me personal but personally but the last time I heard a number one hit was obviously Take Me to Church and that was 10 years ago so and they've been still doing music since but 10 years later they finally they have another number one hit and it's Tik Tok blew it up and everything so and it actually is a catchy song so uh congrats to Hosier um you have a good shat at winning too Imagine Dragons just put out a new album and their songs have been pretty good I think eyes closed was used for a Cody rhods promo this year um Lincoln Park goats for sure Teddy swims one of the Breakthrough art of this year uh well he he dropped his single at the end of last year so going into this year was going to get some uh air time and it has been a hit since so I predict Teddy has a really good shot at winning this award too all right now we're getting into the categories that I did make picks for let's start with best R&B we have Alicia Keys Lifeline money long Made For Me sizza snooze Tyler water Usher summer Walker 21 Savage good good Victoria Monae on my mama okay here are my picks for best R&B I predicted snooze I predicted on my mama and I predicted good good why I did not pick Mooney long I don't know because I've been hooked on that song as well so that just I had a brain fart there I had a couple brain farts okay so Alicia Keys phenomenal legendary icon need I say more again Mooney long I just said I brain farted I don't know why I didn't pick her for best R&B like this song is good but come on siza let's go for snooze that that song took me a second to it caught on to me like how do I say this um it took a minute for me to catch on to snoo you know again we have Tyler for water yes I I the reason I didn't pick it is because I think it was going to get afro beats so and then we have Usher good good definitely was gonna get nominated um it's an okay song I've heard it numerous times and then of course Victoria Victoria Monae blew up this year um this song scored big at the BET Awards I think I mentioned that in the last video so excuse me uh a lot of good the these are some good contenders like honestly I don't know who will walk away with this award it it's anyone's game all right y'all y'all ain't ready for this let's go best hip hop I my list was humongous but I think only six got picked so let's see who's up we got Drake featuring sexy red and siza Rich baby daddy uh we got Eminem Houdini glorilla big glow yeah glow we got Gunna [ __ ] you me Megan D stallion boa Travis Scott featuring Playboy cardi fi okay so on this list I picked Rich baby daddy I knew that was going to get it and on this list I picked Megan and I predicted yeah glow was going to get picked also fi I predicted that song was going to get picked so obviously Rich baby daddy was the big hit this year um I'm hoping to get some Grammy Noms I'm not gonna lie I think they I think it will um because the Grammys love siza that's for sure um Eminem I had I don't I brain farted again I don't know why I didn't put Houdini Houdini on the list that should have been on my list and I don't I don't know what happened I really don't but rightfully so I knew he was I had a feeling he was going to get Nom glorilla I am so happy you got nominated like oh her songs have been her songs have been Bops this year and I it sucks that TGIF was came kind of later although it wasn't maybe not best hip hop worthy maybe it was like more for song of the year but I I still have my hopes for song of the summer I think gorilla can get another nomination for song of the summer but also Rich baby daddy too Gunna I was actually shocked that this song got nominated I was not expecting it especially with the competition being so up there um but still I I'm I love the song it was really good so and then Mega the stallion I'm so happy you got nominated and I was shocked that this video got picked um but I'm not surprised because it had so much anime going on in there video game well it wasn't anime it was just video games um I was I was thinking maybe his would have got it but oh no Cobra I was thinking Cobra might have got that um but either way I'm not mad and get y'all get ready because well probably by the time this video drops Megan's next video mamushi is gonna be dropping so uh I'm excited for that uh oh we got to talk about Lotto too because her album's dropping um so I can't wait to hear that and then fi um I don't particularly like Travis Scott but I know a lot of you people do and I'm so that's why I picked this song in particular uh he did perform this at the grammies this year so and I think it was 2021 that Travis Scott pulled out a surprise win for best hip hop so we'll see but I've got my picks I'll share them with you later next we have best pop this one's going to be a tough one too let's check it out now here's something odd because uh are they doing best pop video are they just picking best pop artist um either way let's dive in Camila Cabo dual Lipa Olivia Rodrigo Sabrina Carpenter Tate McRae and Taylor Swift okay so let's see I picked Taylor Swift um I picked Olivia Rodrigo I picked Sabrina Carpenter actually I picked all six of them all I get I got all picks correct yay I deserve a round of applause for that um thank you thank you I picked all six artists for best pop here's where I'm pissed Ariana Grande why is she not on this category like her album exudes pop so I don't know I don't know but congrats to the other six um I I knew you guys were going to get them the pick just going to talk about them real quick uh camil Cabo and dual Lipa also put out new albums this year uh there I don't know about Camila though I I don't know I don't see her winning this award to be honest but DA has a good shot and then around VMAs last year was when Olivia put out her album guts so and that was very popular uh Sabrina Carpenter um she's not a new artist but she is the break one of the Breakthrough artist for this year um she just blew up out of nowhere well we we saw her drop some hits last year at the Sabrina Carpenter performed at the pre-show she performed nonsense in feather I believe and those hits uh crossed over to this year and then of course came espresso uh the big hit of this year so far and please please please and I think she put out another single too but right now espresso is that is that girl so Tate McCrae as well uh she put out greedy last year and that was a hit so congrats to you Tate uh and then of course we can't we can't have a VMAs without Taylor Swift again what a year it's been since the last VMAs little did we know little did we think that she was going to get with a football player right after the VM right after the VMAs yeah what a year what a year it's been all right next we have best collaboration we have Drake featuring sexy red and Sissa Rich baby daddy glorilla and mega the stallion wanabe Jesse murf featuring jelly roll Wild Ones Jung cook featuring Lotto for seven post Malone featuring Morgan Wallen I had some help and Taylor Swift featuring post Malone fortnite okay I don't remember if I had to list for this but I'm just going to show you this right here I predicted fortnite I predicted Rich baby daddy and I did predict wannabe but I didn't think I was goingon to get the nomination and I actually am happy about that I was shocked that Barbie world did not get the nomination I was actually expecting that okay so I didn't okay so it's no surprise Rich baby daddy was going to get the nomination for this category um again I was shocked that wannabe actually got picked and I'm very happy about that wild ones I was not expecting that one but I do think it is worthy because it was a good song congrats to you jelly roll again and Jesse murf getting multiple nominations this year as well we'll talk more about that in a minute the next category uh Jung cook featuring lot again that song's a blast I love that song uh and I mentioned uh Lotto is dropping a new album it's probably already out at the time of this video uh it's called sugar honey iced te which actually stands for something um post Malone and Morgan Wallen okay I had just heard this song recently and I'm shocked that it got nominated uh Morgan Wallen I believe this is his first VMA nomination let alone a country artist since Taylor Swift picking up a video Musical award nomination um so congrats um and post it's been a minute since he's been nominated uh and then here we go Taylor Swift featuring post Malone fortnite everyone has a shot at this award like but I'm not going to be surprised if Taylor Wins this one so we'll just see what happens okay next we have the MTV push performance of the year now if you watched in our last video I named all the artists who were named MTV's push arti for the month and that is a big honor because that automatically gives you a nomination for the VMAs the only thing we needed to find out is what song they were nominated for so again I will tell you who the nominees are uh but you will also see the name of the songs that they nominated for for August 2023 we have Cali area codes September 2023 glorilla lior Sun October 2023 Benson Boon in the Stars November 2023 Coco Jones I seeu December 2023 the last push artist of the year Victoria Monae on my mama January 2024 the first push artist of the year Jesse murf for Wild Ones February 2024 Teddy swims for loose control March 2024 Chapel rone red wine Supernova April 2024 flyana boss Year may 2024 Lai goddess June 2024 Le seraphim easy and July last month the warning automatic Sun so I'll go ahead and tell you who the push artist is for the the first candidate for the 2025 VMAs uh as they as MTV will will announce their first push artist for that uh this month with August with the MTV push artist for August of 2024 now let's check my songs all right so here we go I picked all those songs and I picked all but the warning so I got 11 out of 12 songs I'm so happy about that I'm I'm celebrating that I'm giving kudos to myself so there you go we have a couple candidates that are have a very good shot we're going to talk more about that on the next video when I give my official prediction all right best new artists now remember the voting for best new artists will continue until the night of the VMAs um on on the week of the VMAs MTV will announce the top three candidates for best new artists and then the voting will continue from there into the live show so you'll at least have an hour and a half to vote um but let's see who the candidates are for Best New Artist we have Benson Boone Chapel ran Gracie Abrams shabzi Teddy swims and Tyler all right I picked three people on this list shabzi bensen Boon Chapel Rome now here's where I'm pissed why was sexy red not nominated like come on now anyway let's discuss Benson Boon we've already talked a little bit about uh Chapel ran a very big breakthrough artist from this year um I've seen a couple of her performances it's given me total 80s Vibes like I I feel like Madonna and maybe Lady Gaga are her uh Inspirations um and when I say Madonna I'm talking about like like a virgin era you know when she did the wedding dress uh performance you have to go on YouTube and watch that I had to go on YouTube and watch that cuz I was nowhere near thought of my mom was still a kid when that performance was going on uh which by the way fun fact the VMAs will be celebrating its 40th anniversary this year Kudos but we are celebrating the 25th anniversary of probably one of the greatest VMAs in history the 1999 Video Music Awards which I'm thinking about maybe doing a little let's discuss video um so that way you guys are in the no because honestly the 1999 Video Music Awards were on point with the hype of 20 in coming and that year was full of music and it was really good so big anniversaries this year but most importantly the 40th Video Music Awards are this year so I've heard a little of Gracie Abrams hav't listen to her music sh boozy I'm actually happy about um he did the bar song Teddy swims he's been in the business for a minute but this was his breakthrough year for lose control then of course Tyla Tyla won Best New Artist At The BET Awards so she has a really good shot um all but Gracie Abrams I'm sorry Gracie I just I'm going to call it like I see it but the other five nominees have a really good shot of winning this so all right next we have song of the year here are the nominees Beyonce tech Jack Carlo loving on me Kendrick Lamar not like us Sabrina Carpenter espresso Taylor Swift featuring post Malone fortnite Teddy swims lose control let's look at the song of the year list I think I have two lists um I picked Taylor Swift I Knew espresso was going to get picked not like us of course uh I also picked Texas holdam and I picked lose control so I did really good with these picks so yeah once I heard Texas hold them I knew everyone was going to be uh singing to this song Jack harlo I was actually shocked that he got this nomination I complet Ely forgot this song even existed but it's catchy so I'm not surprised Kendrick labar come on you knew this song was getting nominated and it it's definitely getting Grammy Noms this year too so kudos to you Kendrick Lamar it it whoops I think Kendrick had it might get nominated for song of the summer too to be honest uh same with Sabrina Carpenter espresso uh Taylor Swift of course of course and then Teddy swims lose control a lot of people be singing this song too so okay hang in there folks we've got two more categories to go artist of the year we have Ariana Grande Bad Bunny Eminem Sabrina Carpenter siza and Taylor Swift and I picked four of the nominees correctly I should have put Eminem on the list too to be honest another brain fart moment so obviously this is Ariana Grande's year uh her album Eternal Sunshine came out uh and she will be starring in Wicked later this year so I'm excited for that bad bunny I don't know if he would win artist of the year but Eminem has a good shot too because his album slapped Sabrina Carpenter we've been talking about her already and I can see her being an artist of the year candidate same with sizza come on now I'm in love with that song you know and she's supposed to be dropping another album soon um Lana and then of course Taylor Swift you can't have artists of the year without Taylor Swift I don't know if you all can see that I'm sorry and now drum roll please it is time to announce your 2024 candidates for video of the year we have Ariana Grande we can't be friends wait for your love Billy eish lunch DOA cat paint the town red Eminem Houdini SZ the snooze and Taylor Swift featuring post Malone fortnite all right so I predicted fortnite was going to be picked I predicted paint the town red I predicted Houdini I predicted we can't be friends and I predicted lunch for video of the year so we can't be friends uh definitely played on the Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind feature um so I very good I thought the Boy Is Mine would have got the the comination if it wasn't yes and I thought it would have been the boy mind but that's okay that's okay I I still love we can't be friends this was a good song uh I knew Billy isas lunch was gonna get it like just the way she filmed and all that uh paint the town red this was a very heavily talked about song and the the budget she used on that video I'm mad that demons did not get the pick I thought the cinematography and everything was so good in that video oh well oh well Eminem's Houdini soon as we heard Eminem was getting back under the scene it was it was we knew it was coming so but I was not expecting siza to be in video the Year this year but I'm happy she is so it's going to make my decision for video the year so much harder uh and then of course Taylor Swift you can't have video of the year without Taylor Swift and Taylor has won video of the year for the last three years if I'm correct um yeah 2022 so since 2022 she has won video of the year but she's won other video of the years as well um and it's very possible she can win it yet again uh but I'm GNA vote and make sure that my girl Ariana Grande wins that but I'm not sure yet because now SZ is in the mix and I can't I got to make a decision so we have a good lineup for video of the year I like I don't know about Billy ish I'm sorry like yeah she still has a chance like I think her fans can you know get behind her and vote maybe not Eminem either like it it comes down to the four ladies well Billy ish I'm sorry like I had already excluded you but it's the other four ladies so yeah that's just my thought and there you have it we have our official nominations for the 2024 Video Music Awards coming up in September we're going to I'm going to make my official predictions uh who will definitely win the moonman um it'll give me some time to think about who will Who will actually win so I'm going to need a moment to think about this um but the voting has already opened go to mtv.com VMA and start casting your votes you have until August 30th to cast your votes and then uh it will just come down to best new artists and I believe more categories will be announced in the coming weeks and those will the voting will
