there's not much to smile about these days in Britain riots a few weeks ago household bills rising and the NHS is on its knees so it is hardly a surprise that an oasis reunion has brought about such excitement and joy this week it has taken us back to a time when you felt proud to be working class and you felt anything was possible everyone I knew felt we were in something together getting transported to another world with their music as Liam and N sang together on Aquas we need each other we believe in one another but non Oasis fans might seem a bit perplexed about the millions of middle-aged men and women grinning from ear to ear and now talking about tactics for refreshing the Ticket Master website on Saturday to bag tickets for the Liam and NL shows next year but this is serious dot for many people they are buying not just a ticket but a trip back in time and something that will provide them with a little hope joy and excitement for the next 11 months anticipating the event I might sound like I am exaggerating but Oasis for many people defin an era of their youth or perhaps their years before they started a family or they were just less old and more Carefree The Nostalgia is a super sonically big factor of course and there will also be connections to a simpler or happier time and important memories made with family members or best friends speaking personally I let out a little squeal when one of the Gallagher's Inner Circle confirmed to me on Sunday the rumors of the weekend was true and a tour was happening I had told everyone who would listen this year that Liam's Definitely Maybe tour was a brilliant throwback to the Oasis years and next year for the first time in 16 years we will have him on stage with his brother now not every Oasis gig was brilliant back in the day but there was always something happening it was a bit of a soap opera at times you would get great songs sometimes lots of Liam Rambling On Stage sometimes total chaos or even a row between Liam and N midet there was always an energy there with the sibling rivalry too and it is something I have never felt watching any other band you didn't look away for fear of missing something I first saw them when I was 16 shortly after what's the story Morning Glory came out and I remember being in a moshit being thrown about and covered in sweat by the end but totally thrilled the adrenaline was off the scale and from then on I couldn't get enough gigs in Manchester London Brighton and venues around the country followed I bought clothes the Gallaghers wore I got haircuts like them and would eagerly await every new release in 1997 when I was 18 I traveled to Haagen by coach and it took over 24 hours sat in a stiff upright seat with two friends we then stayed in Denmark One Night in a hotel and got back on the coach why did we do this Oasis were on tour so why not yes I had seen them on the be here now tour both nights in exiter and in London but a weekend in Copenhagen and a chance to do it all again sign me up it always felt exciting to watch Oasis even towards the end when there was more infighting other people were inspired to do what they did and became the next wave of guitar bands and also older people wanted to live the lives they had a working class youngster could enjoy cigarettes and alcohol in the '90s but they were not having all night Benders like Oasis or earning millions they were aspirational figures for many they had begun life on a Manchester Council estate and got out there and made their fortunes and the gigs were also a celebration that dreams could come true and perhaps when you sing rock and roll star back at Liam you felt in the moment together with the band having the time of your life whilst they had theirs fans like me remember the incredible feeling they remember those shared experience experiences and the buzz of being at a great Oasis gig and they want that feeling again in 2025 [Music]
