🔥 NO POSITIVES for Man United 👀 Mo Salah HINTS at Liverpool Exit! | 🎙️ PL All Access

for those of you that of a Manchester United persuasion it could have been worse it looks to me like this United group of players have the same Hallmarks of the team that have lost so many games since the start of last season I think he's becoming increasingly difficult to defend ten har but they are going to replace him it is going to happen it's just a matter of time this is the third season where you were feeling frustrated you're feeling confused by everything but like a car crash I didn't see any positives today I think their policy normally would be not to offer a lucrative long-term contract to someone of his vintage but sure you make an exception for Mo Sal as long as he wants to play for Liverpool you do all you can to keep him there don't you he's pretty much at the peak of his game yeah so why leave why leave for Saudi Dean rice is sending off changed the nature of the game uh yes it did but it was self-inflicted I'm absolutely on the side of the referee here ultimately deam rice was naive and I think he knows that hello and welcome to Premier League All Access With Me Sam matterface in the shadow of Old Trafford alongside me as always for Premier League All Access talk sports Chief football correspondent Alex grook co-host of the inside Devils YouTube show Angelina Kelly and renowned football fan senior football writer award-winning journalist Henry Winter joins us as well to reflect on a weekend of absolute [Music] Stardust well we sit here uh as I said in hotel football just across from old traven having watched Manchester United get dismantled by Liverpool by three goals to nil obviously Angelina and crook we're going to have to go through a 45 minute counseling session here Henry are you prepared for this he qualify for it no but I will help but I think they're beyond help yeah I think they they possibly are Liverpool were brilliant not my words the words of Eric ten ha what did you make of that I'm not even sure they had to be brilliant to be honest I think it was far too easy you said a weekend of Stardust felt like a car crash watching that and we've seen the same movie time and again I was actually weirdly optimistic coming to the game um I didn't think United would lose ten ha has got a good record in this fixture particularly here at Old Trafford I thought there were signs of positivity in the first two performances even in defeat of Brighton I didn't see any positives today I well the positives all came from the Liverpool side didn't they and you gave me a great statistic about Mo Salah and his goal record at Old Trafford yes he's the fifth he's contributed he's scored the fifth most the amount of goals at Old Trafford since 2021 obviously there's Ronaldo and rashford and players like that ahead of him so yeah it's embarrassing I mean I completely agree with you I sitting next to crookie and I was almost having to sort of console him for the sort of well for for for for most of the game but it looked like a team which had had a Dutch manager working with it and developing it for three years and another team which had a Dutch manager who'd only been there three weeks and they look like a bunch of strangers and if inos were looking at that and they would say honestly slot look how he's improved a good team and look how um Eric tenh hark is holding back this team yeah and the problem is is that that's exactly what has happened the pro problem being it's the wrong way around and the Arna slot looks like he's been in situ for three years and Eric ten Hogs and his team don't look like a team that he said I don't have the same feeling that we're in the same patterns last season um he was asked whether or not this was encourag negativity and he said he well he actually said no I I I think I think we're in a good good place it was just a bad performance we have to be humble we have to accept it we have to move on he wouldn't focus on any of the positives but he came across to me like someone who had who had seen something different to what we'd seen yeah I mean that is the theme of Eric tag isn't it it's like so many times how many interviews has he done where he's talking about something and you sit and think did you watch the same game that we just watched it can be very confusing sometimes and really frustrating for United fans but the bottom line is I I don't agree with what he's saying I don't understand how he can come out and say that I mean you looked at even just the dugouts like the way that anisot was like his body language and everything it was almost like he was at home and ten har was away at full time the way that tenh har walked out onto the pitch and actually greeted about six or seven Liverpool players was embracing them before he even went over to a single man united player that for me as a fan even that was frustrating um and I just struggled to see what he saw because it just doesn't make sense play devil's advocate here because there will be a lot of raging on social media tonight there'll be a lot of Correspondence questioning his position come tomorrow morning um but does there need to be a deep breath a sort of pause wait let's think about this carefully and not overreact to what was a damaging defeat I've been trying to do that since the start of last season and I've been a big defender of ten har I didn't want him gone at the end of the season I thought you know in the FA Cup Final there were signs of what he can achieve with this team I didn't necessarily think there was a better man for the job but here we are three games into the season two defeats and it looks to me like this United group of players have the same Hallmarks of the team that have lost so many games since the start of last season I think it's becoming increasingly difficult to defend ten ha and you look at the the team selection I think we were all taken back that rashford started ahead of ammad and actually when ammad came had more touches in the Liverpool penalty area than any other United player have managed I think the persistence with casemiro when we clearly know he's passed his best that basically cost United two goals in the first half some strange in-game management he was booed when again he left rashford on the pitch he took off gacho he tried to defend that when I spoke to him afterward and said that gacho and xery were making their first start of the Season gacha wasn't tired you know let's be honest he he could have played on so I think he's making decision that are cowardly in the case of rashford I think he's making decisions that are going to lose the support of these supporters who have been brilliant the the fans have always backed him but today that changed a little bit obviously there was a big exit before the end of the game and when we were walking in here when you had it I think when you came in here as well we were hared by Manchester United fans saying what's going on this can't continue this can't happen this means so much to them that they've lost to Liverpool that they've lost in this manner to Liverpool you mentioned casemiro you you can't f focus on one player but we spoke to Alan paru we heard from Gary Neville after the game he says he thinks this is going to cause more problems actually taking him off at halim going forward then it then it will have solved during the match what do you think about that well because he's a senior player and the other senior players say you don't do that to someone someone who's won five Champions League someone who's won a copper someone who is just one of the the sort of the modern greats you don't do that to him having said that if he hadn't taken him off at half time I think there would have been a right because it was you know an AR slot got PR what the opening day of the season for for taking Geral K Quanza obviously completely different player different position and all that different experience but you know managers we expect to be decisive what should worry Manchester United and I look at it completely dispassionately as a neutral I understand the sort of the emotion around the table completely understand that but what happened is on his slot took one look at this Manchester United Team and said I know how to expose them so he played obviously he played High wide and they pressed hard and F because he knew that the Manchester United players can get turned over they turned over the ball very quickly and then in Midfield the moment casemiro was on the ball they just ambushed him there were ambushes all over the place and that was so predictable But Eric tenar didn't counter that so if you're inos and you're sitting there and you looked at the the look of thunder on S Jim ratcliff's face having backed him not simply with the with the contracts on the back of the FA Cup Final having to be fair interview or talk to other people and then back to him in the transfer market and he's allowed to bring in half his old ax team then you look at that and you think why aren't you countering that you know Onish slot just outwitted him out thought him and his team outplayed him they were ambushing you you look you looked at MOS salah's work rate the very least Manchester United players should be doing everything is going to get heaped on ten hog in the papers tomorrow but actually at some point the players also have to take individual responsibility we all doing what whatever Walk of Life we're in and they weren't doing that you looked at mosalah was closing rashford down you look at Alexis mallister the way that he was back Darwin Nunes ran about 70 yards to help him close down Amad so there has to be individual responsibility basic standard right because that's what you expect from every player we saw it last night watching West Ham and Man City earling Harlem running 70 yards to to close down Mel Antonio that that that is what you expect it was interesting what Harry what Henry said about the the Midfield because we had this conversation prior to the start of the game about you know the complex makeup of the Manchester United midfield never has been completely settled ever since Eric tenh has been in charge he's got augat Now not available today we'll bring him in for the next game there's no doubt about that mainu defensively can get turned you know do you think that ker coming on at halim mly being involved in this situation are we in a in a in a in a situation where we could end up damaging these young players if Eric ten har doesn't take care of them properly 100% I think that changed you knew that he had to take casmiro off but bringing a young player into a game like that it was it was dangerous and I really really felt for the kid you look at kobby Manu I mean a lot of non-man United players that are England fans speak to me and say I want kobby Mayu to leave man united because he shouldn't be at that club because they will damage him and he will end up in a situation like a Marcus rashford like a Jaden Sancho like a Harry McGuire that's the general consensus outside of man united that's scary to me and you look at these young players and one thing that I really praise Derek tenh har on was man united fans wanted youth to be brought through and that is what he has done he's brought through kobby Mayu we've seen younger players like Alejandra garnacho being given chances etc etc um and that's been great but then at the same time when they're being exposed and they're being put in these situations it is it is worrying and you look at the squad and you look at the team shoot today and it actually L quite light yeah well they've let 17 players go this summer uh which I think needed to be done I think that was that open heart surgery uh the a famous caretaker manager you got to keep it mentioned yeah I agree with that two points I want to make about Midfield Ugarte obviously paraded on the pitch before the game today he's going to have to be a cross between Iniesta and Javy to sort this team out you know let's let's make no bones about it that it's a good signing they need buets it's not going to suddenly propel them to Liverpool and City and Arsenal's level and the point that angelin made there about kobby Mayo I was speaking to one of our television colleagues before the game and he said if you look at young players coming into teams it's not often that a player at that age has given the responsibility to boss a Midfield at a club like Manchester United how old was Frank Lampard you know when he came into that that Chelsea tick and it took a bit of time for him to be eased in you know I think there's a big difference between a 16y old Wayne Rooney playing up front for Everton and a 19-year-old kobby M who expected to knit this Midfield together and I'm the biggest member of the kobby m new firing club by the way and and and and that's the point I was making about damaging these players and Angelina referenced Marcus rashford is he doing enough no he's not um absolutely and he's not alone in that I thought there were a couple of occasions when he did get some decent crosses in the problem with Marcus rashford is that he keeps turning inside Marcus rashford at his best is when he is full of adrenaline and he is taking on a fullback he's not I don't know whether it's the manager telling him to to turn inside because they like overloads a Midfield I don't understand it particularly when you've got a right back like Trent Alexander Arnold who is not famous for keeping his position you know because he steps into Midfield I mean he almost scored he had won a rule because he was he was so far forward so rashford should have been saying right that pace with his Pace I can get there delit is still sort of getting up to uh to to speed not so D but uh karti or whoever he is running at there and absolutely rashford needs to get back to the basics and ten hog is absolutely not bringing that out of him I I take your point about rashford I think cowardly is a fairly uh strong expression I don't think that he was actually the worst Manchester United player out there and he was pretty poor and that's an indictment of the others so look garache obviously prefers playing on that side I agree with you I thought Ahmad was was very good when when he came on and gave it gave he got player of the month before the game Manchester United's player of the month SC right even more and then got left on the bench we all sat there with the team Sheet saying how can ammad be removed from the team when you've seen Marcus rashford offer nothing over the course of three games but Henry used the phas during the program that United were playing on a motion and you saw that with a silly booking that Martinez picked up the the aggression at times they were playing with rashford was an emotional pick that was a decision based on emotion and actually you've asked what the problem is with Marcus rashford his confidence looks low I think he goes hiding and actually the two crosses that he made and xerx he probably should have buried both of them came after ten har was roundly booed for keep him on the pitch so I think he knew he had to produce something there because he knew that it wasn't a popular decision with the f there's a lot to talk about with Manch it's not a Manchester United devoted uh podcast that will be on your podcast I'm sure later in the week the inside devil um do you no but I I think the question has to be asked whether or not this is a pivotal moment this is a moment where things should change Eric tenh was given a one-year contract that wasn't the the the the most ringing endorsement of his success do you wait and see what happens over the next couple of weeks because it feels to me that we can sit here forever and go oh now he survived he hangs on there's no one else to come in and take it but they are going to replace him it is going to happen it's just a matter of time right he's not going to last the season we could we all know that deep down don't we but who why that why is that why is that the main question well because you got to bring someone in you've goty who's who's been in charge of PSV einhoven is he going to do a worse J massive ask it is it is a huge ask is he going to do a worse job it wouldn't no I don't think he would I mean I i' tell the point on that but is there a would they go for tul who's a completely different project it's slightly chaotic um I would be surprised if they got rid of him swiftly the fans don't want Southgate no or poter or Potter although he did say he was Harry Potter I'm not Harry Potter he did say that it was in the press conference afterward he said I'm not Harry Potter he came out fighting again you know you came out fighting with me you question the players mentality we come out fighting with you you might not be Harry Potter but you might soon be gr potter sitting in that seat um well yeah he did have a weird exchange with you where he said to you that we have to improve prove the mentality and you said well you've spoken about mentality well I haven't spoken about mentality well you you literally just did yeah and I feel sorry for him listen because I think he's he's he's always polite in interviews even there that was the nearest he got to to losing his call and maybe it was a miscommunication because of the language barrier I think he conducts himself well but the more he comes out punching I think the more his critics will just round him and and I agree with you I think there's only one way this end this reminds me a little bit of ol good of selar at bid Road United fans want him to succeed but they comes a point when you realize actually this is this is not going to happen for the long term and maybe it's easier for everybody if they're just a part the way well the only messages that I've had from Manchester United fans is is that he should be changed do you feel like that is that the feeling that you're getting from the people that you're speaking to or is that an emotional response to what's just happened I think you're always going to get that emotional response after losing 3-0 to Liverpool and I think we spoke about it in the stadium it did feel pivotal and the atmosphere felt really strange the first 10 minutes I thought the United fans were great and listen I'm not going to have a go at United fans for not cheering because I wouldn't want to cheer either but the way head in our we were nearly crying so you took your headphones off and stopped working for the last 10 minutes both of you um but it was it was the Liverpool fans it was the way that they were taunting Manchester United I've never experienced it that crazy and intense and with the Eric tenh hard thing I think you've already said it crookie it's not just you know people say oh it's only three games it's not three games this is the third season where you were feeling frustrated you're feeling confused by everything I think it was um Jamie carer that had written some an article about how this reminds him of Brendan roggers when he they couldn't really find the right replacement for him they kept him and then it got to October and Jurgen klopp came in Brendan Rogers did a similar thing to tenh he changed the back room staff and he was talking about these similarities which was was quite scary but I I agree I don't think that he will last the season I don't see unless there's a complete 180 which I don't see happening because we've been waiting for the 180 for three seasons now um I don't think after three games they're going to get rid um but then you saw that image there's an image going around on social media of s Jim rackliff with his head actually in his hands kind of like what crooky was doing um I don't think after three games I do think it is quite more of an emotional response from Manchester United fans but I think this puts him under huge pressure and it's like like you said it was pivotal it's like the clocks almost like started ticking now it probably was already but for fans that have gone into this season like myself being like no clean sheet we've got to back him he's one two trop phase it's like the clocker started now for us okay we'll move on from Manchester United because we spent a lot of time talking about them let's talk about Liverpool because there's one big story that came out in an interview after the game and that was Moos Salah saying it's all over for me at the end of the season I'm off slightly more nuan than that actually be the headline well absolutely as as ever with Mo just say no mo I think will be the uh the reaction of a lot of it what he said was you know this is my last year in the club now whether he was ref no but whether he was referring to that in his contract um or whether he was basically he suggest that it was his last time at Old Trafford a I think he probably should have said as it stands at the end of the what yeah but what he then sort of alluded to is that he hasn't spoken to anyone at the club so whether he was making a point to the club come to me cont well first you look at his record for scoring at at Old Trafford maybe he would like to come back maybe he absolutely like to come back um maybe Manchester United should sign him but no he with the way he is playing and you look at because you know was it s four five months ago there was a sort of you know doubt was he enjoying it on the clock was he thinking moving was he going to go to Saudi the money there but the way he is playing you look at him I obviously he's going to come back and hit the ground running because he looks after himself so well you're not going to see him in a B3 you're going to see him in a gym you're going to see him with his family you're going to see him out running on some nice beach somewhere just getting ready for this season he is such a I mean just the work rate that he put in today the pressing as well as cting there's one point that Martinez actually came out quite close to sort the side where the Press Box is and he knew he was there he could sense he was there and he just flick I don't I think the ball might have been from Trent but he flicked the ball from Trent into s Li PA he knows he is he's pretty much at the peak of his game yeah so why leave why leave for Saudi why leave in a year's time when he's playing like this he is the type of player who looks at Records who looks at Legacy who looks at what he can actually go down as one he's already one of the greatest in Liverpool history so I think this might have been just a little nudge to the club and just a little p because you know there's no better place than having it was it was it was quite an explosive comment to make after a game like that is definitely going to generate debate and definitely going to generate headlines as well but he two assists and a goal today as all he always delivers at Old Trafford doesn't he so you you you can understand him from reeving in the spotlight yeah I saw him I I saw him in the tunnel after actually W past Chief football correspondent he's not the chief Manchester United fan I didn't really want to engage eye contact I have to say but I did gradally tell him that he played well did you ask him for an autograph no selfie um but I think it's a test uh for the SP way Sports Group because obviously he's not in the the first flash of Youth I think their policy normally would be not to offer a lucrative long-term contract to someone of his vintage but surely you make an exception for moal as long as he wants to play for Liverpool you do all you can to keep him there don't you seven goals in 10 appearances at Old Trafford he's won the title he's won the Champions League he's won The League Cup he's won the FA Cup I think as well I think he's won pretty much everything apart from the Europa League since he's been at our and he's got the hunger of a team he looks he looks refreshed doesn't he and I wonder whether not the CH I asked Graber about that and he said well I think he was pretty good last SE I think yeah I think I think there's anything else going on there which we might talk about another time but he um I think behind the scenes you know I don't know if that there was of that falling out at the end of the season between him and klopp like in front of everybody think he was overly disappointed to see I was going to say I wonder if I wonder if the sort of the change of manager has just refreshed him a little bit and made him a little bit more positive about the idea of stay a little bit longer if you're Liverpool you keep him you keep Trent Alexander Arnold you know you keep Virgil Van djk you look at the way Trent's playing Trent will walk into I mean you know he could very easily succeed Danny caral is probably the best right back in the world at the moment given what he's done this year um it's in in you going to that Real Madrid team team I'm sure they'll be linked with him Virgil Van djk what a leader how important he is what he represents for Liverpool as a community as well as as a club and a team so you know they're not foolish they will actually going there and they will say we've got to keep these three okay we spent most of our time so far talking about just one game Manchester United and uh Liverpool for those of you of a Manchester United persuasion I will tell you with some degree of authority and I think Henry will agree with me it could have been worse well they stopped the three they declared the three didn't they so and SOS and SOS I let you off right at the end of the game when it could have been four and if the Trent Alexander Arnold goal would have stood at the beginning of the game you know it might have been five or six I I thought you were going to tell us we could go now you your take on the rest you can go now you can stay if you want I'll go to the no no no no it's fine I'll go Angelina you can go we'll see you on inside devil very shortly on The Talk sport YouTube channel we're going to focus on what's happened at the rest of the weekend let's start at gooderson Park and stay in the Northwest and another set of fans that aren't particularly happy this weekend it was a very good Everton performance for 87 minutes but the problem is the game lasted for 97 Henry I mean that is shocking and everything that Shawn dice represented as a player and represent as a manager his team just simply didn't reflect that physically mentally they just effectively surrendered and you know the opposition absolutely brilliant the way they went for them but Everton you've got to be more intelligent you've got to be more StreetWise you got to kill games off you know don't go chasing a third kill games off and that was naivity whether it's physical exhaustion mental exhaustion I don't know but that is unacceptable well there was a couple of examples of players switching off young player Tim iram's had a difficult week at Spurs did very well in midweek against donc cter played very well for the bulk of yesterday's game was excellent and you could see towards the end he was tiring he wasn't able to make those distances did sha D make a mistake with his game Management in not replacing him earlier on that's certainly the suggestion from the Everton fans who were flocking to the the fulltime phone in with Jamie and Jason as I was driving home from brenford on Saturday night I think there's a mentality issue Everton football club I think there are a group of players who've forgotten how to win matches this is the third season in a row where they've started so poorly they put themselves on the back foot automatically I think the most damning statistic from this game is that bulma's first shot on target was the first goal so to capitulate in the way they did this wasn't a brilliant Bournemouth comeback as much as I'd love to give the credit to andon Rola and his team it was an Everton collapse uh Lewis cook scoring a goal is always a rarity it was his first Premier League goal the fact that Lewis cook who's probably about 5'4 scored with a header is even more troubling isn't it but I think the way that Everton react to this I mean the time the timing of this result is terrible as well because they now go into the international break with this hanging over them yeah and the fans will be flocking to the phone in will be flocking to the social media and of course anyone who walks through the center of town goes near the key side the dock we'll see that magnificent new stadium and you know the the the club rightly sort of posting all these pictures on it and how fantastic I'm sure you've been sort of inside and it looks fantastic but they cannot they simply cannot afford to go down last season would have been terrible but to go down and have that beautiful Stadium opening in the championship is just crook talks about the mentality Sean D has mentioned it as well do you think that mentality has been influenced by the fact that there is so much cloudiness about the future of the football club the direction of the football club is not clear for those that are involved in it does that have an impact on those players players tend to cut themselves off from from a lot of that they're very much sort of focused on you know they listen listen to the manager obviously you know they they'll listen to you guys on the radio and they'll they'll watch you know the rolling news but they you know as long as they get paid you know as long as they can go out and and play I think that they they they tend to focus on that clearly though there is huge uncertainty around maseri needs to to move on they need to get this sorted out but you know it's a very very lengthy process I find it very strange that the club of Everton's history of their extraordinary fan base matcho nationally and and around the world that you know they've got some some pretty decent players theyve got a good manager that actually a really heavyweight American investor who's got who was a genuine multi-billionaire hasn't hasn't come in I understand all the sort of the text element but I it's still amazing surprising because it's a huge Club it's got brilliant new stadium on the horizon you know that that's going to be involved in the European championships you know the history of Everton the honors board is is is well etched with with wonderful stories from from days gone past you could make something of this so so what's the reason for not doing that there must be something which stopped Daniel freakin from getting over the line there must be something that others have seen in the books that don't push them to to making a firm offer for this football club but all the while sha Dash has got to get on with it and one of the big discussion points now is whether or not he's the right person to guide them forward now from our point of view having watched all this unfold previously the last thing you would think is a good thing to do would be to replace Shawn Das with anybody else at this juncture that is a trap that Everton have fallen into far too often how how does the club stop itself from falling down that hole well I think financially they can't afford to sack him so so maybe that's uh maybe that's a big thing at the moment but um but they're talking about the fans are talking about it who are you going to bring in I mean Frank lampard's available again that went well last time it'd be bizarre to get rid of Shawn D you look at last season with all the off field issues the points deductions the possible threat of administration that they stayed up with something to spare in the end in fact as Bri exactly so yeah I think I think he deserves the opportunity to turn it around I think he's probably the best man for survival but I still think come the end of the season they're going to be relying on three teams who are going to be worse than them and I'd be a bit concerned about how well ipswitch have adapted to life in the Premier League I'm not sure there will be three worst teams than ever to but are there people seriously suggesting they should get rid of Shawn D in the fulltime phone in last night questioning him well they're Liverpool fans I mean seriously he's you know let's be sensible about this he's he's a very good manager and if you've got a far Bur you're passionately involved in it and you're seeing it week and week out those supporters are going to be allowed their opinion and they are going to question what's going on tactically I absolutely totally respect their opinion but then take a step back and appreciate the Shawn D what he's done for them in the past what he can do for them you need someone who cares and he absolutely cares and he is a fighter and that's what they need if you want a managerial dog of war Shawn dice is your man we probably should appeal to the Everton fans and say 87 minutes of that game was Absolut absolutely the kind of performance that you want from your team going forward and if they replicate that in any way shape or form nine times out of 10 they'll win that game and others going forward just a quick one I was just going to say but I guess the only issue for Shawn D is that certain David Moyes is now unavailable and obviously he's got a lot of credit in the bank with Everton fans and at a board level but I I take on board the point you've both made and actually if you look at Everton as a football club I I know historically you know they were challenging for major honors but they've been in the doldrum since David Moy left they've been a long yeah and that David Moyes period was a bright spot and what has been a bleak landscape since probably the early '90s really Paul ride out in 1995 that's a long time ago now um look there are some positives I think probably mentioned a couple of players that have done well for them a bam I've already mentioned Dominick Cal L getting back to scoring ways is really important for them an assist and a goal and he took it brilliantly but also the contribution of ilman and G over the last couple of games has been important for them too and will be going for shout out to SEO as well because I flagged him up on Thursday someone who would have an impact I think he's a terrific player and again I know you're a big advocate of the pyramid people like him and Alex Scott are interviewed last week they are they are why the pyramid is so important and you've got a very good manager there I think he he's outstanding you probably spent some time with him I've only spent a short amount of time in his company I went into his amazing tactics room and I came away thinking my God this guy he you know I mean we did we did tell you when he was appointed that he would be a success after the work he did in Spain we did say because we we'd sort of studied what he'd done at Ry valano and he was the best at giving the big boys a bloody nose he does it with that high pressure they were the best at winning the ball higher up than anybody else last season they'll do it again this season look I think he will tell you be the first to tell you this weekend was not a great Bournemouth performance but they come away with three points it's been a good start of the season a quick word for Neil Blake as well the cheap executive who is uh who is offer a new role overseeing all of Bill Foley's football clubs and he's been at Bournemouth for a long time now and has has really played a big part in there surge up the league and to become I think what we can now say is an established Premier League club yeah yeah don't get too excited though because these things change very quickly Don't Take Your Eye Off the Ball cherries uh Arsenal one Brighton one talking of taking Eye Off the Ball Dean rice is sending off changed the nature of the game uh yes it did but it was self-inflicted I mean you know we all love Dean rice is one of the most interesting entertaining thoughtful committed players that uh that you could meet but I mean as he admitted in his interview afterwards you know he deserved the yellow for the uh for for the first challenge he said it was a 50/50 I miss Ed it I deserve the yellow and then he accepted his said under the laws of the game I it's been fascinating listen to the debate when everyone's saying well the referee was right under the laws of the game I mean the laws of the game are there to be applied the issue is and I know what you're going to say is apply them consistently no I'm not I'm not going to say that I'm absolutely on the side of the referee here I think the game descended into chaos because the players were trying to get players other players booked they were diving to try and get fouls they were waiting for contact when they should have just been playing on the two managers were being histrionic on the sideline and causing more pressure on the referee in the end I think he just had enough I you were doing the game weren't you and I think you at you and Stuart I was out on the bike listening so I hadn't actually got the visuals until later on and absolutely concurred with what you're saying I think Stuart said well yeah it's it's a second yellow gamesmanship has caused this game to fall chaos yeah but also the players were told on that briefing preseason which we in the media also had that uh anything that delays a restart will be an automatic yellow absolutely and I think you know I don't think you can argue with that yes I do agree with the consistency thing there were a few decisions that you would have gone that should have been a yellow card hinwood should have been booked in the first few minutes there should have been another yellow card for Jiao Pedro maybe for kicking the ball away but not all events are equal and sometimes game management a referee is allowed to apply game game management and he is allowed to call a Hal to proceedings when you know that was a technical infraction it's a yellow card I think Arsenal fans and Mel arteta have leapt on the xia Pedro one as some kind of Defense but ultimately Dean rice was naive and I think he knows that yeah I think you just have to take it on the chin they've also got to take it on the chin that they've dropped two points uh in the title race and very early on do you think that tactically he got it right once they'd gone down to 10 men because he was going to make a substitution just before Bournemouth equalized and that was to bring on Cal fiori and go to a back five and try and see it out and hit on the counter and then they conceded and he still did the same thing yeah I know you said that on there and it was it was a very interesting point I think he's only made one mistake this year and that is still not buying Center forward I just think not because harand then went and scored a hattick I just still think that Arsenal team they got so much creativity I get the kai havit thing but as you were saying on commentary he had another chance and you have to take those chances the top teams that it's just fractions Arsenal are so close the fractions away from manchest City and that is what what was it two points last season you know it's it's just you have to take those chances if you're going to take that step and we can make the case for Arsenal not buying a striker because we can say with authority they scored more goals in the Premier League last season than they've ever done before we can say with authority they scored more goals than any other club in 2024 in Europe's top five leagues but it is those moments and yesterday they had three great chances is two beforehand before the sending off and one afterwards and they didn't take them and maybe a number nine might have done and and those statistics could be slanted as well because who cares if you score four goals past one of the whipping boys ultimately that Aston Villa home game that they ended up losing when they had opportunity to score goals maybe a proper number nine would have made a difference when they went to the ety had and Drew nil nil against a Manchester City team who were missing their two best defenders maybe a number nine could have made a difference I think that statistic is slightly yeah slightly skewed and also you look at C Fury celon Cole and I were on on Deadline night and we were asked to to judge various signings would they be a hit or would there be a Miss we both said a Miss for Cala Fury not because he's not a good player but do they need him where does he fit in they've got Yuri and Timber fit now to play in that left back position CRA and Gabrielle are going to be the first choice Center halfes as long as they're available should they not have spent that money on a striker sorry don't you think he's doing a sort of Pep style back four how have four center backs effectively as your back four surely surely Tim's going to play yeah but Cal Fury I mean I I think he's there's something special about he's got an aura but krook's got a point they're incredibly well stacked at the back they haven't got that much elsewhere and if you look at the squad the squad looked a little bit like they had no jayus obviously was injured you've got Sterling who's come into the building and you've got Marino he's injured at the moment you got three first team players to come come into it but actually you know you had two youngsters on on the bench yesterday yeah I don't understand why they didn't go for Tony so tell Ivan Tony you can get in the England squad well you are in the England squad you had some good moments during the summer you can really put pressure on Harry Kane if you play for us and you've got Lee carsley who I assume we get the job long term and he is watching you week in week out playing with one of the best teams in the country and yet he's just gone to Saudi I think it's a mistake obviously Arsenal weren't interested in him but I just think that might cost them the title and of course there's no evidence to suggest that a number nine makes a massive difference West Ham one Manchester City three erling Howland with his 24th hatrick of his career um I mean look he hardly touched the ball in the second half and then came up with an unbelievable moment where he you know finished the ball brilliantly past the goalkeeper and everyone thought he was going to put it draw it low down to the goalkeeper's left or put it in the bottom corner on the right hand side and he just went over the top little scoop into the back of the net terrific finish I mean he has been nothing short of s he's scored more goals in the Premier League than he's played games he's a freak and he's an absolute cheat code for Manchester City who I still don't think he' played particularly well this season but it's at top of the table three wins from three he scored what seven goals now and I remember speaking of Pep actually at Stanford Bridge after they beat Chelsea on the opening Sunday and he said he's looking a lot sharper than he was this time last season I thought that's bad news for everybody else great news I see who else is looking great Rico Lewis yeah he is oh what a player I mean England in right backs I mean how many I mean he's just he's the perfect pep right back so he's he can defend he can attack he can invert into Midfield he can probably go over on the left at some point he's he's absolutely outstanding but harand didn't play in the summer and we're going to see a lot of that this year he will have a good season because even seeing sort of you know kobby Mayu wasn't completely the races because he had a busy summer sacka will probably have dips at some point because of the uh the summer so yeah Absolut Harlem and then you look at they bringing a player like gundan who I think will probably be a coach and a manager because you can see that intelligence in him so yeah I mean look I went for I predicted Arsenal to to win the League this season against all my better judgment going against Manchester City but again it looks like cities we're only three games in you know that things don't you know can't afford to give them the lead unless unless the the points deduction come their way and obviously that's a big game they play each other very short but it but it won't come in this season it won't because they'll appeal and it'll get they'll tie up it won't happen this season I don't I I you I'd be surprised if it's that significant any you know everyone's talking about oh three points could make a difference it it could do but if everyone's talking about oh they'll be relegate I can't see any of that happening but let's just see how that plays out and Arsenal cannot go into the season no one can Liverpool who might be challenging them can't go to well they might lose a couple of points here and there because they're likely to tie up the lawyers until the summer at least and then see what Happ and of course they say they're innocent of course they're still they're still trying to you have to emphasize and they're allowed and they are allowed to make their defense they you know that's the way it works but it's interesting what you said then you obviously feel now that Liverpool are in the title race I do and I thought that at the beginning of I mentioned it in the Premier League access podcast preview because I thought they'd put together a squad last year that they were settling in bing in under Yogen klopp he'd sort of done the work really and then they just needed to add to it now they haven't been able to do that part from K who we didn't see today but they've got a couple of key things a fresh Mo Salah a revitalized mo Salah they've got one of the best fullbacks in in the world in Trent Alexander ronold they've got Dogo xot who's fully fit and if he stays fully fit by the way he is one of the best strikers in the division because he's minutes to gos ratio is off the chart the player who's impressed me I I take all those points we know the quality of those but Ryan gravenberch who who I didn't think was a natural six but actually he's been outstanding that position well look at that today yeah he was Fant well he was almost like an eight I he was just those three that we've talked about lap the others I think that the distance between third and fourth is going to be fairly significant especially bearing in mind that we thought that Manchester United might be uh fourth thinking on my let's move on West Ham United beaten at home by Manchester City by three goals to one Newcastle beat Tottenham Hotspur and and an Posta cogo will be sitting there pulling his hair out asking how on Earth did that happen because they had more shots on goal than um their opponents they dominated the possession of the football but that High Line undone once again yeah and you look at the pace that Newcastle United have got I mean Harvey Barnes is not necessarily an absolute flyer but he's got you know he's obviously got in his jeans from his dad he's got that intelligence of making those run Anthony Gordon's an absolute flyer I mean it's funny you know Newcastle United fans and you were covering the transfer window they were almost in mourning for their season because of the because they didn't get Mar gay slightly strangely they just focused on one when I think they probably needed a right winger as well and everyone was going oh you know Doom and Gloom on the tune and all those sort of headlines but actually the most important thing is is that they held on to E they held on to Bruno Grim they held on to Anthony Gordon after he'd had what an impressive six seven minutes for England in the summer and he flirted with uh a transfer to Liverpool that was in the off thing yeah more than flirted I think that was pretty close at one stage at the end of the PSR deadline I take Henry's point I mean they did try for a anger on Deadline DAV Forest didn't have time to Source a replacement I think Eddie how was frustrated because he felt there was an opportunity for Newcastle maybe to do something special this season they still might but in terms of Tottenham they're too easy to play against you know what they're going to do and if ven's not there The High Line doesn't work because they don't have the pace to get back into position and Eddie how exploited that we called it if if we can call it on the podcast Eddie said it's Tottenham we did exactly that's what all managers say yeah the Thursday night podcast was we focused on Barnes as well because he' played so well in the game against Bournemouth coming off the bench he played so well playing against n Forest it was obvious that he was being used and shaped to play alongside Gordon so they had those twin Speedy threats on the flanks as soon as vaner wasn't on the team sheet and by the way if you look at the statistics between when vanen ad doggy uh Romero and porro are together and when one of them or any of them is missing it's absolutely frating well the Chelsea game last season when he got injured and and that you know they they they were struggling but if you look at some of the kids on the plus side for Spurs you look at some of the kids they've got quite like quite like the kids they've got I think I don't think their recruitments being you know that poor obviously they were missing missing salanki so but I like Angie's approach and maybe that's just reflecting the Tottenham approach that it will take them a certain way and they will be attractive um they' got to be more clinical in front of girl though that's a massive problem I and there's so many chances in both of their games that they haven't won so far this season and and that's been there do you like son through the middle no I think I think he loses something going through the middle I thought Brandon Johnson is almost brilliant but he has a lack of M product which caused him he right when he came on yeah but he again he had a he had a great chance didn't convert it couple of balls that went into the box that weren't quite perfect from him I think that's an issue for them but he's a player that's developing he's still a young player I'm I'm still not 100% convinced by kulisy but you know I think that salanki when he's up to full speed will definitely help them because of what he does in terms of pressing create CH and they will create chances and he will finish them but when he's not there what happens they're going to be fun to watch always ultimately they're going to be fun to play against they won't win anything and they won't finish in the top four okay um talking of teams that won't finish in the top four Chrystal Palace won Chelsea won at Stanford bridge and usually at this point crook always sort of rebels in the fact that Manchester United have had a really bad day by saying there's always worse someone worse off than you and it's usually Chelsea this week actually we got a point against Crystal Palace so you know we'll probably take that bearing in mind that we're just hopeful finishing in the top half of the table you did lose to a team named after a napkin in midweek so let's not get too carried away yeah um Inka didn't start there was a surprise he've been waiting to say that all day haven't he I I to be fair I used it on Friday night with CT Cole I was making all kinds of dinner table references but I think they went a bit over his head um I'm I'm surprised Chelsea didn't win I thought they would beat Palace you know Palace haven't had a great start of the season I thought that 6-2 demolition Awards would give Chelsea some confidence But ultimately it's two bad points dropped I think yeah Forest have had a good start 1-1 with wver Hampton Wanderers Nuno spirito Santo he's in a very good mood when you speak to him he's smiling and everything I've never seen this side of him before he's the only manager who taught me how to kill a bir constrictor which is you don't know you wouldn't have got that off Neil Warner but I went to see him once when he was at walls your pardon yeah we look pet snakes you you petrify the snakes well they have a word and Nuno cuz he knows how to kill them I I'll get it takes about 10 minutes to explain but involves you rolling your your trouser leg up lying down and the bur constrictor coming up and uh grappling your leg and while he is so enjoying your leg left leg right legs not choosy uh you stab him okay Leicester city W Leicester city won Aston Villa 2 um there was a couple of upsetting moments for Steve Cooper in this game but ultimately I think ason Villa probably ended up develing the points in that game IPS which are off the mark 1-1 and the laap scoring which is also going to be a confidence booster for him yeah good goal from him and I think having watched Southampton at brenford and and obviously you mentioned Leicester there I think if swi at the moment look the most equipped for for Premier League live Russell Martin would argue against that and we'll tell you there were positives from the game against brenford but defensively they're all over the shop and they lacked a punch and attack as well I think it's interesting to see how it works out with a sheer volume of players that ifwi have added but I think they've got a chance I like Leaf Davis I think he does very well coming forward on that left hand side yeah and he he got that recognition I think from the PFA last week I just I just think when you've got a manager as special as Kieran McKenna as an individual with his self-belief he knows what he wants from his team he's incredibly driven I mean he wouldn't look out of place here obviously he's got a develop couple more years obviously you know he coached here but I just think he's he's special he is absolutely I know you're a huge arola fan and he's special but McKenna is going will go to the top can we say that brenford are the best high pressing team in the league because that's what Thomas Frank thinks did it well on Saturday I've got to say they they knew that sson were going to try and play out from the back and and Burma and and WIA and uh the other guys from Midfield seized upon that and uh yeah I was impressed with brenford I I was worried about brenford going into the season because I'm not sure defensively they're great they seem to be better at signing attackers than they are Defenders but I think all the time and bumo and and whist stay fit I think they'll be fine um best manager outside the elite and when you talked about the special manager in McKenna immediately came to mind Thomas Frank the way he conducts himself the achievements that he has already made and I think you're right outside the elite he is someone who other clubs at some surely at some stage someone's going to take a look at could could he take over a juggernaut like United comments underneath this video or you can tweet us if you've got a view on that uh thank you very much for listening to Premier League All Access with Henry Winter uh Angelina Kelly and Alex crook I'll be back on Thursday with crookie to preview the England action this weekend which is live on talk sport uh we're going to Ireland at the weekend Saturday and then it's Finland at home on Tuesday we will off to go and kill a bu con strictor have a good night
