the the Houston Texans man are doing work and I will say this um it's a little early to to be pounding the table for a team in the AFC but they might be one of the biggest threats if not the biggest threat outside of your traditional Baltimore uh and some of the usual cast of characters I mean it's not a stretch to say that that they're going to win that Division and play some home games you you had denil Hunter who I think is fantastic um some of the other addition they made I think have been really shrewd and you know that's a team that's going to have a lot of juice since day one of Deo Ryan becoming the new head coach of the Houston Texans the aura was completely different not only did they go from one of the worst football teams in the NFL to one of the best in one season but Deo Ryan had one goal in mind we want to get better we want to instill pride in Houston in the Texans fan base and that is exactly what they did not only that but they also came into the off season completely focused completely ready to achieve their goal of getting better for next season they've added so many key piece including guys like denil Hunter from the Minnesota Vikings Deno autrey uh fatui then you had Tim sedone and Mario Edwards the defensive line from day one is so much improved from last season and then you had Aziz Al Sher guy who demo Ryan had a very good connection with back in San Francisco you had a bunch to the secondary and I'm excited to really break down the secondary of Jeff Auda CJ Henderson Lonnie Johnson Mike Ford to pair up with Derek Stingley Jaylen Petri Jimmy Ward and Desmond King the secondary I think could be the most improved part going into next season but real quickly before we Deep dive into the the film review the film breakdown watch this quick little interview by Deo Ryan when I took over the job here one thing I wanted to uh just instill in the entire city was uh was Pride back into our team here right so I want people around the city to be proud of the Texans right be able to wear their Texans gear and wear proud so starting to see a lot of Texans gear around the city starting to see a lot of smiles we go out to restaurants a lot of people are excited about the Texans and what the men in this locker room have did on the field right to get the city excited about the Texans again and that's what it's all about now in this video I primarily want to focus on the additions to the DB room here in Jeff Auda CJ Henderson Lonnie Johnson and Mike Ford now I know you guys are very you know you guys don't really know how to feel about these signings obviously xaven Howard Stefan Gilmore are free agents and the Texans bringing in Jeff Auda and CJ Henderson two guys who look like maybe even busts so far in their career I know Texans fans haven't loved these signings however I'm going to break down this video why they are the perfect fits for Deo Ryan and this defense and then we're also going to break down why the past defense from last season is going to be completely overhauled and be better for next season we see this they're they ranked number 30 in completion percentage allow number 26 in yards allow per pass 20 in pass yards allow per game and number 15 an interception percentage this secondary is a lot better than last season I think they've made really good additions let's break down why Jeff Auda CJ Henderson and some of these other guys are way better than you think now the first thing you're going to notice about Jeff Auda is he was a top three draft pick I know what you guys are saying right now you're like why would we go out and get Jeff Auda when he has showcased nothing but NFL bust Ren all over now the one thing I will say about Jeff Auda the man plays football hard was the number three overall pick and is only 25 years old what we're going to see here is Jeff Auda lined up against uh DeAndre Hopkins the one thing I love about Jeff Auda is the read and react Factor of his game so right away we're going to see um you know Kyler Murray in the shotgun running back to his left two wide receivers in front of uh DeAndre um Hopkins right so the one thing we notice is boom right read and react we notice right away he is locked in on his man we see him drop back just a little bit we got to react so boom what does he do full Sprint ahead let's get into the backfield and let's make a stop Jeff Auda is a very willing tackler now I will say over his four-year career pretty much only played two and a half seasons in his second season only played one game in his first season only played nine now you guys are thinking well why the hell do we want a guy who barely plays barely stays healthy well over his past season or past two seasons he has been relatively healthy and I feel like we've started to show some flash but let's get into one more reason why I really like Jeff Auda okay so the next play we're going to break down actually before we get into this do me a big favor guys hit the like button if this video gets up to 500 likes we will be posting non-stop coverage of the Houston Texans for the rest of the off season also subscribe if you're new it is free doesn't cost anything to join the family and we're going to be here all year long also do you think the Texans can win the Super bowl next season now let's get into this play so what we're going to see here Jeff fakuda lined up again against DeAndre Hopkins taking the number one wide receiver in um his rookie season so this is where we saw a lot of Flash from him but that second-year injury really set him back so on this route we're going to see a deep in right you're going to see Kyler Murray uh you know run out to the right side trying to you know make a play on his feet right so boom let's just watch how this play breaks down so Kyle Murray rolling out to the right now as a quarterback you really really really need to be good in man coverage right once the quarterback gets outside the pocket the wide receiver can basically run wherever he wants so basically when you have your quarterback running to the right side everyone's going to start moving to the right side so boom Kyler thinks he has just enough time and just enough space to throw this football over the middle to boom right here Jeff Auda Hopkins you see a diving interception by Jeff Auda gets in front of it and makes a wonderful wonderful play and this is why I think he could fit in perfectly here in Houston now I I get what you guys are saying still right you guys are still like well why do he care he's been so bad throughout his NFL career so far right and I understand that he has not lived up to that number three overall pick um you know selection however however however however the big news is Deigo Ryan he is the key he is The X Factor he is the guy that will change everything for Jeff Auda so not only are you getting a guy who is a willing tackler at the DB spot a guy who works hard and wants to win every single game right makes big time tackles and Big Time plays but also can play good man-to-man coverage we saw that in college we saw that come uh kind of translate into the NFL a little bit right but also Deo Ryan that's what everyone is forgetting about Deo Ryan is here right now the thing about J Ryan that you guys are understanding is do you understand how good of a developer this man is do you know how good he is is at putting guys in certain situations to win football games but also just be their best self right we look at Jonathan Gard coming off a career high I believe 12 and a half sacks or 10 and a half whatever it was right you look at a guy like Blake Cashman two guys who left in free agency and I think both are in Minnesota now right but but then Derek stinging he had a major year last year because Deo Oran knows where to put him knows how to play him knows how to make him hit his top potential right Jeff Auda a former number three overall pick had all the talent in the world coming out of college all the talent in the world right this man could be a big time ball player here we see Aaron roders throwing up a lob right beautiful catch there but Jeff Auda comes in smartly doesn't touch him and boom wraps him up gets the football out boom Force fumble so yes he gets beat there but also has the smart the IQ right not a lot of guys think about this mid playay right the guy catches the football how can I still make this a positive play for my team well let me go in and let me not touch him for a second let me wait until he gets up that way I can make a play on the football this is genius this is genius gets in there right when he gets up boom let me rip it out Force fumble football's loose and they end up recovering it and winning the game guys this is Jeff Auda might not be the perfect fit but he is a guy that will play hard he will play physical and he will play at his top potential under Deigo Ryan and then you talk about CJ Henderson and it gets kind of freaky because CJ Henderson and Jeff Auda both top 10 picks both 61 both 205 lbs both 25 years old they're literally very very very similar and they're both going to be here in Houston now in this play specifically you see CJ Henderson at the top of your screen here versus T Y Hilton was a couple of years ago but CJ is very similar in terms of just hasn't lived up to the hype um but also a guy who could couldn't really stay on the football field healthy right so obviously we need some more playing time by him makes a great play on the ball here right a quick little comeback for T Y Hilton but look at CJ getting there at the most perfect time breaks his pass up I mean I I think very similar similar to Jeff Cuda I think he brings the same aspect young a former top 10 pick with all the potential in the world to be a very good Corner in the league and that's been something that people have been talking about for a long time right I feel like he's got that same potential I feel he's a guy that can come in here uh fit into under a system you know you talk about the Houston Texans last year they needed some DB upgrades but now you have you know Derek Stingley Jaylen Petri Jimmy Ward Jeff pakuda Desmond King and CJ Henderson's not going to be asked to come in here and be a day one starter he might not even be a guy who gets on the field too much but the thing is the thing we need to talk about is the potential if he reaches the potential that we know he can he is going to be such a big upgrade for this defense as well as Jeff Auda and I know people are sitting out there Texans fans are saying why didn't we go get xaven Howard why didn't we go and get Stefon Gilmore well oneyear deal cheaper younger um potential more potential right now than you know even xaven Howard who is a good Corner maybe slowed down a little bit this season but Jeff Auda and CJ Henderson if they lock into their potential if they if they tap into that potential it's over the Texans have three of the best corners in football just looking at potential wise right I'm not saying right away but at the end of the day I I think CJ shroud this Houston Texas team has gone better and then you talk about you know the addition of Joe Mixon to their offense I think that's huge and you see CJ Henderson playing a you know when they're when you're in zone coverage here your job is to read the quarterback's eyes real quick and that's exactly what did what he did jumped the r intercepts it gets it to go I mean that's good football right uh the offense they didn't really need to do too much added Joe Mixon a day one starting running back who do a lot of different things right I think he's a big but the defense where you add um you know five six potential day one starters from last or or you know new day one starters you know compared to last season this defense got better when you look at the rankings they needed to get better and that is exactly what they did I love CJ Henderson I love Jeff Auda but they still made other additions that I like as well and then they went out and picked up Lonnie Johnson now a lot of you guys probably know who Lonnie Johnson is a former second round pick in 2019 actually of uh the Houston Texans right now he was always a decent player with Houston um and then one year was like yeah I don't want to be here anymore I'm not for this rebuild I need a change of scenery and then he kind of falls off the face of the Earth man went 2022 11 tackles eight solo nine tackles in 2023 I mean there was nothing he was really doing he did have a four a fumble recovery and interception in just 12 games barely even played too much right uh but I think Lonnie Johnson is a guy who could come in here at depth veteran leadership as well as a guy that works really hard and is a a dog right I believe he's like 28 years old right now you look at the Houston Texans defense you just added or you just needed more depth especially to the safety run right you have Jaylen Peter you have Jimmy W they love these two guys they are the future of this team right but then behind them you have you know a seventh round pick and Brandon Hill uh you have MJ Stewart who I believe they signed last off season who's okay but is he ready to take that jump up next season I don't know uh you have Eric Murray also from Cleveland Lonnie Johnson is probably a day one backup depth player who can add versatility to this defense you know in the nickel he wants to play a little bit a little bit of corner but also I think he's a day one backup safety who has a ton of depth and and competitiveness to the secondary and then you talk about about a guy like Mike Ford clearly we can see um they love guys from Cleveland right Mike Ford from Cleveland I think he had a big year Eric Murray Cleveland MJ they like these Cleveland um these Cleveland guys but Eric or not Eric Murray Mike Ford is a guy I really really like let's talk about and then we talk about a guy like Mike Ford who's coming off a lone season in Cleveland I believe he came over from Atlanta in Detroit as well but this is a guy who played all 16 games had 28 tackles two pass deflections as well majority of his snaps did come from Special Teams but this is what I like about him a guy who can do multiple different things in terms of playing special teams he can actually play DB I think he started some games for the Browns last year and actually was hyper productive as well um began his career in Detroit in 2018 18 as undrafted free agent and has worked his way up uh with the Broncos I believe you play with the Falcons as well as you see here um but this is something I really really do like Mike for is a guy who is 28 years old adds versatility is lengthy 6 feet tall 195 lbs uh going into his seventh NFL season and a guy who has you know about 100 tackles throughout his career 80 solo one interception but again what we're saying what we like about this is the fact that he can not only just play special teams but also can come in and be a spot starter if you need him to as well so I do really really really like this signing here and I think hey who knows maybe Mike Ford comes in here and uh really makes a makes a name for himself and maybe even earns a day one starting job if a Jeff Auda or if a CJ Henderson doesn't really pan out I wouldn't be too shocked if Mike Ford comes in here and is nasty for them because and we go back to it Deo Ryan he knows how to get guys in their best position he knows how to get the potential out of them and I think a guy like Mike Ford can really be utilized by J Ryan
