I'm honored to announce this year's winner of the prestigious L garri award each year fight Al the Theta fraternity which I happened to be a member of when I was in college presents the Lou gar Memorial award to the major league baseball player who best exemplifies the spirit and character of Lou garri on and off the field Lou garri was a distinguished member of the F out the th of fraternity and a man of integrity the award was created to acknowledge individual players outstanding commitment to both the community and philanthropic since the awards Inception in 1955 the name of each recipient has been placed in permanent Garrick award plaque located in baseball's Hall of Fame Museum in coopertown New York previous recipients from the St Louis Cardinals are Albert poolz Mark Maguire Azie Smith Lou Brock Ken lawyer and Stan muu it's my honor to introduce this year's winner Paul [Applause] goldet but since signing with the Cardinals in 2018 Paul has been a strong supporter of Adam way W's Big League impact he has supported numerous organizations through a slew of Big League impact initiatives including Arizona Center Foundation for children operation food search crisis Aid International St Louis food food bank Focus St Louis Arch City Defenders Deacon Foundation food for the hungry Habitat for Humanity and a little bit Foundation gmid is a strong supporter of the team's Foundation Cardinal care he makes annual Financial contributions signs memorabilia for Cardinals care silent auctions and help support our Flagship red bird rookies program since 2019 Paul's ticket program Goldie's golden ticket has brought deserving youth organizations to the game provides t-shirts photo cards tickets food vouchers and meets with groups to answer questions signs autographs and takes photos over the years Paul has met with hundreds of children and other organizations including Scott Air Force Base Library the James project and St Louis Youth Sports Outreach just to name a few the past two years Paul has hosted a free baseball clinic not only for kids to get the opportunity to learn tips and skills from a pro but also for Goldie to share with kids parents and coaches how to have a healthy attitude with Youth Sports on a personal note he never says no he's one of the most generous players I've ever been around and I'm grateful for all he does for the city of St Louis and for the St Louis Cardinal so thank you [Applause] congrats
