What to know for the CU Buffs' season opener on Thursday

Buffs. Football is back in Boulder and today will be one of the busiest days on the roads out there cu is hosting North Dakota State University for the home opener and new this morning nine news reporter Brianna Fernandez joins us, live in Boulder. Brianna. There's a lot of people who need to know whether they're going to that game or not because there's gonna be traffic impacts. Yeah, exactly. So that game, of course, it would land on a work day when everyone's trying to get off work. That game is starting at six tonight. So of course, we're going to see a lot of lot of delays. So you're bound to get stuck in traffic. If you're coming to Boulder or leaving Boulder, we actually going to see a lot of traffic right at the intersection where I'm currently standing, which is 28 and Colorado. So that's kind of break it down for you for what intersections you need to avoid. So actually spoke to the Boulder Police Department, they tell me Boulder, police say 28 in Colorado, you'll see six officers before and after the game helping with congestion. Then three officers placed out for some and A R and then Broadway Street will also see backups so good alternate route for you today, it's going to be Foothills Parkway. Uh We also have somebody, we have uh a command post with cameras where we have one person just watching that to kind of give us a heads up on when the traffic is busy and backing up in other areas so that we can address it. So we, we actually do a lot of work to prepare for this and have several different plans that we can use and then switch over to if things get backed up in certain directions. Now, for those attending, the game gates will open at four, there will be no lockers available for rental. So make sure you have a clear back to get inside of the stadium and the East campus lot will be the best option for you. Your parking once that lot is full, you are going to have a couple of other options. You can use the shuttle buses that are going to be around the city or you can park around the city here in Boulder. But of course, just be patient because traffic will be a mess, especially as the tailgate starts at two. Then you have people parking at for that game starts at six for I live here in Boulder for nine years. Yeah, it's gonna be busy for sure. Brianna. Thank you. Here are a few facts about today's game. If you plan to go, it is a stripe out game, meaning fans should be decked out in black and white. There's a fan fest beforehand. That's open to any everyone. It's located at the Dwayne Field, south of Folsom Field that starts at 3 p.m. And once you're ready to go into the stadium, you can only enter with a mobile ticket. Paper, tickets are not allowed in all transactions at ticket offices, concession or merchandise stands or cashless.
