Miami Heat Pick Up Options On Nikola Jović & Jaime Jaquez Jr. | Will Jović Prove Extension Worthy?

welcome on in guys Tobin here with you and thanks for checking out the channel hope everybody's doing fantastic as we head on into the weekend some news yesterday uh there's a couple things that became officially official but uh not necessarily surprising things first off the heat officially officially announced that they are going to the Bahamas although that had been uh revealed on a promotional giveaway and reported by Ira windman weeks ago but it was confirmed that they are going to hold training camp in the Bahamas they said that they uh here was their team release that they put out the heat announced today they'll hold their 2024 training camp uh presented by Baptist Health at the bahamar in the Bahamas Tuesday October 1st through Saturday October 5th uh following media day on Monday September 30th at the ca Center he will travel to the Bahamas and will conduct two a day practice sessions Tuesday through Friday at the award-winning luxury convention arts and entertainment center the team will conclude training camp Saturday with a practice session open to invited guests before returning to Miami on Saturday evening uh media availability BL blah I ain't going so no matter um training camp not open to the public that's that that's what they got there so the heat are officially going back to the Bahamas I do think that they tried to uh tighten it up by saying hey we're doing two days we're doing two days in Paradise but you know business is business obviously they uh they got to get that that Mion so good for uh good for the heat even though I do wish this was more at a uh at an army base than I do uh a luxury resort nothing against a luxury resort I just tone tone but I like the idea two a days there apparently some open Camp competitions even though it is kind of hard with four days of practice even if they are two days the Miami Heat are heading out to the Bahamas for training camp the other news yesterday not surprising is that they had picked up their options on their two most recent draft picks well I guess they're not the most recent draft picks anymore that would be this year's but um Nicol yovic and haime hakz both had their fourth fth year options picked up and uh from Ira in the Sun Sentinel that is an option of 4.4 million for yovic next year and what that does is uh officially make him a restricted free agent um that the summer of 2627 and then they could uh negotiate an extension the uh that summer so there's that yic is going to earn 2.5 and then hakz he got an option uh picked up his third-year option 3.9 million for his third year his fourth year option would be just under six so you can see the difference in price for the uh the pick difference and uh there you go that is uh what they had going on NE neither one of them surprising I mean both guys have certainly earned to play out their rookie deals but it is going to be an interesting thing for yic as far as like we see with these draft picks like usually teams are kind of just throwing out extensions willy-nilly so you know I think with him this is a this is obviously a big year in trying to figure out what is his role going to be for this team is there going to be a leap is there going to be competition so this is uh this is going to be a fun one I think the Heat's young Talent really is probably what keeps a lot of the Heat fans uh intrigued with this year because you're talking about the guys who all played in the summer league coming into the fold with hakz with yovic and uh and seeing where they ride into it you know like I saw some people were like ah young guy takes the biggest Le and yeah I guess you could throw Tyler that but Tyler's a 5year vet man like it's it's crazy to say his age doesn't make it that way only being 24 G to be 25 but um I think I'm going with like the experiencing and yovic is still the youngest amongst everybody he just turned uh 21 I think is kle not 21 yet let me see go quickly no kalle's 20 so kle is the youngest but even still he's going into it his rookie year yic going into year three with a uh with a heap of experience that he picked up last year so that should be definitely interesting to check out will'll say you know kle we on his uh on his Instagram playing NBA 2K as and he play he was playing himself as the character doing the uh the the the step back threes look good uh look good via video game I liked it I lik the mindset not the only uh rookie getting into Shenanigans however as you had Pella Larson uh apparently was impressing his teammate Kad Johnson both of them of course former Arizona Wildcats it's a good article I recommend you guys go check out by Anthony changen he talks to Tommy Lloyd coach of the Arizona Wildcats and give some insight as to uh what he thinks those guys are going to be but but uh it was funny because Pella Larson I guess Swedish and just got the shout out from Jimmy Butler Pella uh was impressing kead with his ability to stay in the cold tub go ahead that's so Gangsta go ahead that's so Gangsta in the cold that's so that's so Gangsta be now baby so there you go Pella Larson able to go out and uh and brave the cold that they have there for uh for this uh this uh this cold tub at the heat facility that is the heat facility that they're they're hanging at looked like the rookies were uh were hanging out a little bit yesterday um so if you haven't followed keyot Johnson on Instagram you may want to go do that he is uh he seems to be a very entertaining follow for this heat Squad but um that is the thing I think with this there are there is a lot of Talent um it's it's it's interesting too because like you almost forget I was watching there's some videos going now of like Kevin Love is starting to get like cranked up for training camp and you almost oh yeah Kevin Love he's probably gonna have probably going to be the backup center or be be getting that those key 15 minutes that he does in spurts with Jimmy Butler they can do their bomb passes to one another and you see with Kevin I mean like if he's got it on on an offensive night if he's shooting the lights out um you know can certainly impact it against certain matchups but there are certain teams in the league that the heat are going to need their young guys to step up and specifically the Celtics like it's it's tough not to look at that match up immediately and be like yeah they're going to need kle or Nico to step up and uh and provide something against these matchups but uh it's a lot to ask of these these young young guys on the national scale there was a little discussion of Tyler Hero on the low post yesterday they were talking about most intriguing players it was Zack low Kevin Pelton their analytics guy um I didn't you know there was a lot of talk about you know how much Buzz there was about Tyler herro how contract kind of changes perspective on things and that you know where he's just at in his in his career I didn't think anything was too Earth shattering from what they brought they did bring up his uses rate his efficiency dropping as a starter I think uh you know that's going to be a big thing this year to see with Tyler herro just you know how things run and they also mentioned the backourt combination of Terry roier and Tyler Hill there's still some mystery there so you know I don't think there's anything too her shattering but it was like an hour into the podcast if you guys are interested in hearing some national thoughts on Tyler I didn't think that the anything Earth shattering was brought to the table although uh you had Zack uh discussed this uh this situation as Frau which I was like Frau got those you know and the words of Tyler that's a big word for me dog so I was like fra and uh looking it up it was like oh yeah Frau how did I not know an an myosaurus with me a situation filled or likely to result in something undesirable or causing anxiety and stress yeah perhaps I do think uh you you definitely have some anxiety amongst Heat fans for sure but look Tyler hero was the the last guy in the uh in this young guy situation as we've seen the the Nikos and the Himes and all that type of stuff it is interesting you know Tyler right off the bat big role I think haime right off the bat showed his impact and uh now Nico is going into this situation of like who where are they he going to go with him is he a Cornerstone you know is he going to be a roll guy what does his extension look like when that does come about so this is what what is going to be interesting with uh with with uh NOA this year because I would have liked for Nico to have a healthy summer because I definitely think the injury affected how much he was used by Serbia I would have loved to seen a little bit more of him with nicoa yic I would have loved to see him have more of a pivotal Ro like he did in the world cup and they were very cautious with him he was not this key cog but I think a lot of that had to do with the uh with with the injury I think he just wanted to be there he was going to give them what he could so that's a concern but he's also a guy like look he's had the back um they spent a lot of time in in physically crafting him now he has this foot thing so you're hopeful that the durability does hold up there for for Nico and you could see what the next steps are there for him and see is he going to be a guy that the the heat extend what is he going to be looking for um I certainly wouldn't say he's like a a rookie Max guy although it does feel like every first round pick who gets that deal just uh just just gets whatever the hell they want these days so this is going to be a big year with uh with him and seeing what his future is the organization feels like a big Crossroads year because you know for for the Heat and for Tyler you know year three was six man of the year year Nico's not going to have that same kind of a role because that was a year where Tyler herro was the sixth man but he got to take the most shots he got to basically do everything for that team uh the only difference was he didn't start that was it and he wasn't happy about it but other than the idea that Mike bamon didn't introduced him with the first guys it was a pretty you know easygoing pretty uh pretty easy going from the standpoint of like he got to you know people fit around him he didn't get to fit around people you know and he did well it was a great year for him I thought he should have been an All-Star that year so year three for nicool yovic you know does the scoring get into double digits what is the the shot diet look like he showed himself to be a pretty capable shooter last year not a ton of attempts but he wasn't asked to take a ton of attempts he was kind of asked just to fit right in there so what is the next evolution of him and is he going to have to battle for a job and if he doesn't win the starting job is he going to you know take the backup power for like how much ni yic is there if he doesn't start too so fascinating season for him coming up but he is uh he's got his option picked up they got that safety net
