College Football 2024 Top 25 Week 2 Rankings

what's up sports fans this is the Lucas Ross Sports channel it is time to give you my update at college football top 25 rankings heading into week number two of the 2024 college football season of course week number one is now officially over the first weekend of the college football season is now finally over uh it was completed last night with Florida State and Boston College and my thoughts about that game boy Florida State starting 0 and2 who saw this coming I mean Florida State obviously one of the favorites to win the ACC this year and possibly be a number three or number four seed in the college football playoff it seems like you know this playoff you know appearance for Florida state has now gone officially away I wouldn't really say gone officially away because they played two conference opponents in the first two weeks uh Georgia Tech and Boston College I'll talk about more about Boston College here in just a second but this is going to be my updated top 25 heading into week two and um this is kind of based off of what we saw and everything I'm not really a kind of person that uh you know really uh you know just makes a new top 25 every week I usually move teams up and down and everything and it's kind of based off of how the teams really performed over the weekend as well I know some of these uh top 25 you know and everything won't agree with it but we're going to go ahead and get right into it anyway again to my week 2 top 25 rankings heading into the second weekend of the 2024 season so we will start from the bottom at work our way to the top we will start here from 21 through 25 I got Boston College at number 25 Iowa at number 24 Georgia Tech at number 23 and then Arizona at number 22 and then Kansas at number 21 uh Boston College will start with them first I don't think anybody expected Boston College to be ranked here my top 25 but based off of their performance and based off of beting a really good talented Florida State team and with all those transfers that they brought in Boston College I think deserves to be in the top 25 I was very impressive ressed with their performance against Florida State uh the Run game was really strong the offense was just really overall pretty impressive and the quarterback play was really good for them as well I can't really pronounce his last name but he played pretty well for this Boston College team and I've been seeing a lot of you know rumors out there that they compared to Kyler Murray I wouldn't really go that far with the o with the for former Oklahoma quarterback and everything but Boston College again really impressed me and I think this team definitely deserves to be in the top 25 after what they did last week or actually you know yesterday and everything on the other side for Florida State uh you know another really tough performance for the seminal especially on the defensive line uh Boston College just really kept running down the Florida State's defensive line down their throats and that kind of same thing happened in the Georgia Tech game Florida State's defensive line is not really that good uh the secondary is a little bit of concern as well but the offense of course just could not get past this Boston College defense uh DJ yungay wasn't really consistent either in this game I don't think Florida state is a bad team but they just did not they have not played really solid football in the last couple weeks and again Boston College they definitely deserve to be ranked in the top 25 for me so I got this team ranked in the top 25 at number 25 and then Iowa at number 24 they scored 40 points uh this past weekend uh you know really nice impressive win over Illinois State uh they took care of business it seemed like the Iowa offense got off to a pretty slow start but then they started to pick it up in the second half and again this team did score 40 points I was very impressed with the Iowa offense in this game I think you know the offense will probably kind of struggle a little bit this weekend because they got Iowa State coming up in a rivalry game that should be a pretty good game either way I think you know Iowa the home fit Advantage I think they're going to get it done in that one uh so we'll see what the hu guys look like there at number 24 uh Jord Teek at number 23 I didn't have Jord Tech ranked in the uh last two weeks you know I didn't have them ranked last weekend and then also in the preseason ranking I was going to rate Georgia you know I was going to put Georgia Tech here in this top 25 but I didn't have enough room for it SMU was in the top 25 for me but I took SMU out because I feel like Boston College and Jord Tech are two teams that deserve to be ranked uh based off of how they played against a very talented Florida State team I know Florida State's 0 and2 but they have a very talented roster it's not really just about the team it's a very talented roster and with that being said I think Georgia Tech definitely deserv deserves a lot of credit and so does Boston College I mean both of these teams really took you know similar kind of games against Florida State you know they both ran the football down Florida State's defense and I just think you know with those performances they definitely deserve to be ranked here in the top 25 but Georgia T this is a pretty good team they're 2-0 took care of business against Georgia State I thought they would kind of struggle a little bit Georgia state's a little bit of a good Sun Belt team and everything but either way the yellow jackets are 2 and0 and they are not really that far behind in the AC but I wouldn't really count out SMU either SMU is a really talented team as well but they haven't played like a really good team yet so with that being said I know NADA was a pretty tough game for them as well but I'm going to keep SMU out for right now and then put Georgia Tech and Boston College here in the top 25 and then Arizona and Kansas stay in their same spots at 21 and 22 Arizona took care of business this weekend and so did The Jayhawks both of these teams start 1 and0 but they're still here ranked number 21 and number 22 so a couple of changes here at the bottom from 21 through 25 and these are my rankings here from 21 through 25 let's now go from 16 through 20 I got Clemson at number 20 LSU at number 19 louville at number 18 Kansas State at number 17 and then I got Oklahoma here at number 16 so Clemson and LSU dropped for me in the uh rankings here for a few spots I didn't drop them out of the top 25 I know Clemson had a little bit of a you know bad performance against Georgia more than LSU did against USC I don't think LSU was that bad though that's the reason why I didn't really drop them outside the uh top 20 and everything I still think this is a really good LSU team and plus I think they you know played better than this Clemson team let's talk about Clemson first uh Clemson offensively could not move this football against this Georgia defense uh they really just did not play so well in the second half and everything and you think about it Clemson actually was right there with Georgia in the first half they were only down six nothing but the offense again was just a big struggle again this is a very talented Georgia team that they went up against and that's the reason why I think Clemson just really struggled overall in the offensive side of the football but the defense looked pretty good I know it wasn't really good in the second half but I feel like you know once the second half started I feel like you know by the third quarter in the late third quarter I feel like Clemson just ran out of gas and they were all beat up from that Georgia team so again Clemson starts 0 and one but it wasn't really a bad loss for them I still keep them here in the top 25 I think they'll bounce back this weekend but the question is will Clemson be all beat up after that Georgia game uh from this past weekend going into this game against appalachin State appalachin state's known for pulling off upsets out of the sun Bel and everything but I think Clemson definitely will bounce back and I do expect them to bounce back this weekend when they're back at home so Clemson they Dro from 14 to 20 I had them at number 14 last week so they Dro about six spots for me and then same thing with LSU I had them at number 12 I believe from last week uh LSU tough loss for them against USC I was really impressed though with Brent nusers or Garrett nm's performance and everything I feel like the LSU offense is going to be once again pretty explosive with nus me making pretty good throws down the field uh the defense uh I was really impressed with the defense as well in fact I was really impressed with both defensive teams I was kind of expecting a shootout here between LSU and USC but that obviously did not happen both defenses actually pretty uh you know played pretty well and took care of the football but LSU a tough Lo for them that makes it three years in a row down that they've lost under Brian Kelly in opening season games but I got LSU here at number 19 still inside the top 20 and then Louisville at number 18 Kansas State at number 17 and Oklahoma at number 16 all three of these teams from 16 through 18 took care of business uh lville had a pretty impressive performance against Austin P uh Tyra sh looked pretty good at quarterback we'll see what the future looks like for him uh Kansas State got off to a pretty slow start in the first half you know for quite a while there but they were able to pull away in the second half and then Oklahoma offensively they were very explosive in their opening game and then the defense obviously looked pretty solid as well uh for Oklahoma we'll see how they do against Houston this weekend but you when you look at that game now for Oklahoma I was kind of expecting it to be a tough game in the early part of the preseason and everything but when I look at that matchup now I feel like Oklahoma's got a big Advantage going into that game they were 29 and A2 Point favorite La last time I looked at the spread Houston obviously losing their first game under Willie Fritz to a really good UNLV team a group of five team on that level so I think Oklahoma has a big Advantage going into that game but these are my rankings here from 16- 20 moving on to the top 15 from 11- 15 I got Missouri at number 15 USC at number 14 Tennessee at number 13 Miami at number 12 and then Utah at number 11 uh Missouri took care of business this weekend uh when you look at Missouri against Boston College uh coming up in the next like two weeks and everything I believe it's like two or 3 weeks away when you look at that match up now I feel like Missouri will have a pretty tough match up against Boston College coming up in the month of September but you know Missouri took care of business this weekend that's all we can really say about the Tigers uh they definitely deserve to be in the top 15 after that performance and then USC at number 14 so USC goes from unranked for me in the last two weeks to rank number 14 um I was going to put this team outside the uh top 20 and everything but I had to keep USC ahead of both LSU and Clemson and everything because us USC obviously has a top 25 win over those two teams uh not you know Clemson and everything but you know USC definitely deserves to be way ahead of Clemson uh just based off of the performances but I was really impressed with USC's uh performance the wide receivers were really good in this game Miller Moss looked pretty accurate at quarterback so I do expect them to continue to be accurate like that USC has a pretty tough schedule in the Big 10 but based off of this performance I think USC could be a dark horse team in the Big 10 as well and like I said based off of my recap from yesterday in my video I did say that USC might be a Darkhorse team in the Big 10 so with that performance I think they could definitely do that but USC very impressive win against LSU by seven points this definitely deserve this team definitely deserves to be in the top 15 right after that win uh because LSU is ranked in the top 15 for me last week so I got USC here moving on to number 14 Tennessee at number 13 very impressive performance very explosive offensive performance in the game against Chattanooga uh Nico and malava look really good at quarterback these receivers look pretty good the offense just overall was really really good the defense I mean we'll have to see them play like against a really good team which he'll get this weekend uh NC State will be a pretty tough game coming up for Tennessee uh you know the ACC of course got off to a pretty slow start this weekend and also definitely going into the uh last couple weeks and everything but Tennessee I think definitely going into that game is definitely the more better team again we will see how good Tennessee actually is going into that game this weekend and then Miami comes in at number 12 boy they put a whooping on Florida in this game on Saturday I was really impressed with the Miami offense uh camard cing coming in there and really just delivering here for this Miami football team I think this is a very talented team I think they're definitely going to be a lot better this year based off of the performance against Florida I feel like Florida's not going to be a really good team though the you know for the rest of the year just because of how tough their schedule is and based off of this performance I just don't think they're going to be all that good but you know Miami a very talented team I think they're definitely one of the most talented teams in the ACC as of right now the ACC actually got off to a pretty slow start this weekend though like I said Miami definitely was the better like was one of the best ACC teams this weekend uh you saw NC State struggle against Western Carolina for a while then you see Florida State L lose two games in a row but you got Boston College Georgia Tech and SMU they're not really that far behind Miami and same thing with North Carolina NC State again just a really kind of the up and down performance in the game against uh Western Carolina but you know Miami definitely is the front runner in the ACC as of right now based off of that performance against Florida and again I was just really impressed with Cam Ward's performance so Miami at number 12 they start one and0 and then Utah comes in at number 11 cam rising of course makes his return for the youths I was very impressed with his performance uh you had to keep Utah here at number 11 because obviously they played a cupcake game and then same thing goes with Tennessee Tennessee and Utah both were at number 11 and number 13 for me in the last two weeks I can't put Miami past Utah because that would put Utah down to number 12 so I can't just move Utah down because of they you know because of they you know win and everything I'm going to keep biam me there at number 12 and then Tennessee at number 13 and I'm going to keep Utah here at number 11 but again Utah very impressive performance in their first game of the season so these are my rankings here from 11 through 12 all right six or 10 it stays the same here from last week I got Oklahoma State at number 10 Penn State at number nine Notre Dame at number eight Michigan at number seven and Miss at number six a very impressive win for Oklahoma State against a really good South Dakota State team I think this Oklahoma State team based off of their performan is going to be a pretty good team this year I mean obviously oi Gordon III really played well in this game and then of course same thing goes to Allan Bowman now they're going up against an Arkansas team that could be really dangerous coming up this weekend I mean Arkansas scored 73 points in their first game but you know Bobby patrino of course taking over as the offensive coordinator you know Oklahoma state will have the home fit advantage and I think they're also going to have the talent advantage in that game but we'll see how that game goes for Oklahoma State I think that's a really important game here for both of these teams if Arkansas wins I think they'll be in my top 25 uh next weekend but if Oklahoma State wins they'll definitely uh you know really have a good re you know good season for the rest of the way but again I got Oklahoma State here at number 10 very impressive performance against a really good South Dakota State team out of the FCS level and then Penn State at number nine very impressive performance against West Virginia in the second half uh you know obviously a weather delay was you know delayed for quite a while but Penn State came out of the locker room out of the delay and played pretty well I was really impressed with the offense for Penn State it looks like Penn State's now got a passing game team uh going for them and everything so I feel like Penn State's going to be a pretty good offensive team the running back you know the running backs weren't really that great for Penn State but I think it will get better and better as the season goes along and the defense just overall play pretty well as well so Penn State here at number nine Notre Dame at number eight big win again uh against Texas A&M of course over the weekend one of the toughest places to play in all at college football Notre Dame gets a late touchdown to win the game and they finished the game pretty strong Ry Leonard stepped up at the into this one as well so Notre Dame comes in at number eight and when you look at Notre Dame's schedule the rest of the way this team might have a chance and have a clear path to the college football playoffs so the Fighting Irish here at number eight and then Michigan at number seven slow start against you know Fresno State in the first half but they were able to pull away in the second half we will see what they look like against Texas coming up this weekend of course that's the biggest game coming up this week and in week number two if Michigan wins that game they'll definitely be my top five next week and we will see what happens in that one once they go up against that really good Texas team and then miss at number six took care of business in their first game the offense was very explosive and the defense looked really good as well so the six to 10 range here stays the same from last week and then same thing goes for the top five Alabama at number five Texas at number four Oregon at number three and then Ohio State here at number two and then Georgia at number one so Alabama takes care of business in Kalin debora's first game I mean obviously they have some great receivers on this team based off of what I saw and everything uh Jaya milro didn't really play much in this one but he was really consistent uh for quite a while there in the first half and then Texas at number four really impressive offensive performance against Colorado State I think Colorado State's a pretty good group of five team but Texas definitely was the better team here and Quin Urus was really good in this game as well and again we'll see what Texas looks like against a really good tough competition coming up against Michigan this weekend if Texas can win that game I think I can put them in the top three and just ahead of them is Oregon I know Oregon did not perform well against Idaho and everything but I still think this is a really talented Oregon team and so I'm going to keep them here at number three because both Texas and Alabama both played against cupcake teams and then Ohio State here at number two slow start a little bit against akan but the offense got going here for Ohio State uh the running backs look really good will Howard looks pretty good as well I'll have to see Ohio State play like a tough competition in order for them to call it dominant team so Ohio at number two and then Georgia at number one uh take took care of business against Clemson in the second half I already pretty much you know announced what that game was kind of liking everything when I did Clemson here on this top 25 but Georgia showed why they were dominant the most dominant team coming up in the country against Clemson again they got off to a slow start in the first half but second half they were much more better and Carson Beck really made some good throws down the field so Georgia at number one again the top five stays the same here Alabama Texas Oregon Ohio state in and Georgia at number one so those are my top 25 rankings my updated top 25 rankings heading into week number two of the 20124 college football season so let me guys
