[Music] what's popping it's your girl Robin and we're back at it again with another video but today's video is going to be kind of different this is not like anything else that I've done on my channel so far but I wanted to kind of bring you guys something new something fresh something interesting for the girls like I just wanted to do something different I love movies and TV shows I get really into it and one show that I started getting into that took me for a loop took me up and spit me out stomped on me had me in a choke hold and a gorilla grip is tell me lies tell me lies is a Hulu original that honestly triggered the hell out of me if you've ever had a toxic relationship especially a toxic relationship in college this show will make you feel validated it will have you in a choke hold it will trigger you it will bring back memories like it'll do all the above and I just thought it was such a relatable type of story that a lot of girls and a lot of people in general go through and I just wanted to shed light on it and tell you guys about it I know lot of you guys might not watch it so if you haven't seen it I'm going to be spoiling everything in this series because I'm just going to be telling you guys about this so episode one starts out very spicy and very freaked out we see our main character Lucy she is getting freaked out with this other character and they're having their moment I don't know what I can can I say on YouTube so I'm trying to keep it kosher but they're basically canoodling that's what we're gonna call the act of you know then we start getting flashbacks of her and this man in their relationship so we're seeing fights we're seeing kissing and making up we're seeing all kinds of stuff that's giving toxic relationship off the bat this is a tumultuous relationship there's a lot going on dare I say way too much going on so we're catching these flashbacks and she wakes up when Lucy wakes up out of her Slumber because she was dreaming she wakes up next to a totally different man so I'm like oh okay so somebody's on your mind who is this so she wakes up her heart is beating and her man is like your hair is is beating really fast are you okay she's like oh that's weird like girl you a damn lie you know you was dreaming about that man so they started talking and she's like oh I gotta start getting ready for this engagement party and he's like are you sure you don't want me to come with you like I can come and she's like no it's basically gonna be more like a College reunion than an engagement party at this point I'm seeing a lot of people that I haven't seen in a while and yeah and he was like well I don't know about a reunion because you're with these people all well I see some of my friends from college but not everyone so she gets in the car she's on her way to the reunion and she starts getting these flashbacks of the same guy she was having flashbacks about during the dream so clearly this is somebody that she dated and it's basically alluding to the fact that this person is going to be at the engagement party she's about to step into some territory she's about to get in a time machine and go back to college this is eight years after college she gets to the reunion and when she pulls up her best friend Bree the bride is sitting her down and she's like I am so sorry she was like I did not know Evan was gonna invite him Evan is Bree's fiance and Evan is friends with this guy so I keep calling him this guy but I guess I'll just put a name to it his name is Steven and Lucy is like girl it is not that big a deal today is your day we are celebrating your engagement like you know trying to be a good friend don't worry about me like I'm fine like I'm grown so another girl walks in and she's like so y'all are talking about Stephen already so already I'm like okay so you're messy boots like you're coming in in on a different level like calling stuff out how it needs to be called out so the bride who is Bree gets up and she's like oh my God Pippa so Pippa is another one of our characters she is friends with Bree but it gives the Vibes that like at some point Pippa and Lucy fell out like it does it feels like they were friends at one point but they're not really because Bree is really excited to see her but Lucy is kind of like this is Bree's friend I'm here to support my friends so I'm cordial but you know whatever but you could also kind of tell this like y'all know each other like y'all used to be cool at some point so obviously it's Breeze engagement party so she gets pulled in to do something and she kind of leaves the room and it leaves HIPAA and Lucy in the room together so Lucy is in front of the mirror trying to curl her hair and this scene is so funny to me because Lucy's hair is already curled like the hair is done and she's sitting here curling but she's acting like she don't know how to curl her own hair Pippa is like do you need help and she's like yeah Pippa goes over and starts curling her hair and so this start catching up what have you been up to oh nothing you know are you still dating that guy like you know Chit Chat they knew each other at some point in time is what we're getting in this scene so they're kind of catching up then stuff starts to just hit the fan because Pippa already has shown herself to be somebody that's like babe I'm going to call it out how it is I'm not about to miss words and play with you so she was just like we're not going down the whole Steven Rabbit Hole today like we're here for Bree this is her engagement party like we need to be good friends so he's just starting off with the baggage like we're starting off with the drama and Lucy is basically like what are you talking about like she's getting defensive I can be around Steven for two hours and I'll be okay like I'm over that situation I'm over all of that at this point we're realizing that like there was something that happened that is very traumatic tumultuous and we see that from the flashbacks so it's like we're just getting all of this data like her and Steven had something going on and it was not good at all Steven had some type of hold on Lucy that was very powerful a gorilla grip if you will what happened bit something happened and we leave it there so the girls are done getting ready and they go downstairs and it's basically Lucy and the bride and groom so they're standing there and taking shots the bride and groom are just in matrimonial Bliss they're sitting up there talking about some I love you like you look so beautiful like all that cutesy stuff and out of nowhere we meet another character Wrigley now Wrigley is best friends with Evan and his big Goofy behind he is so obnoxious he is a frat boy through and through so he comes in all loud doing the most he's grabbing up the bride lifting her up talking about some she's my wife now I'm stealing your wife and she was over there giggling and laughing and stuff I was like baby you're not about to be grabbing up on me like get off of me I would have been so like perturbed like this is too much I don't know am I uptight but Wrigley is there he greets Lucy oh my God because he hasn't seen her in a while so he's like hey Lucy like how are you like all that good stuff all that good good stuff Evan is looking at really like are you high because he's acting erratic he's acting crazy so he's like are you high and he's like no and then he's like don't tell people so you're high he's like well where is Pippa by the way and Pippa was over Yonder you know getting a drink or whatever and minding her business as she should so he's like oh Peppa so he goes and runs after her and is doing the most because Wrigley is over there smothering this girl like he's all over her and it's like a lot like he's just a full-on type of person they're like laughing about it and Lucy makes a joke and she's like who what girl wouldn't want to be chased up by a coked up gorilla so she's basically making fun of him like he's a doofus you know being funny basically being funny be a messy and Evan was like well take it easy on him because it was his brother's birthday yesterday like he's going through a hard time they're alluding to the fact that something happened with the brother and it seemed like the brother is like passed away or something so at that point Wrigley is knocking over trades and so Pippa is over there with Lucy and she's just like oh my God like this too much like he is always making a mess and Lucy says you don't have to deal with his mess anymore like you don't have to pick up his messes anymore it's clear that HIPAA and Wrigley were together in college so the scene cuts to Lucy and Brie and Lucy is talking to her best friend and she's like you know I'm really happy for you right and it's like the energy of the way she said it was just like duh you're my best friend like why are you acting like that like you're acting mad weird and so that's what her friend says brie is like yeah I know you're happy for me weirdo and so it's like wait what's going on like it felt weird weird energy Lucy walks away she is stressed she has some type of rash she's drinking she's taking wigs of her drink every five seconds like she is angsty because she knows that she is going to see Stephen at some point and it's only a matter of time so she's walking around the party she's doing this and that and she's having flashbacks all throughout her just walking in the party she's having flashbacks to them hunching she's having flashbacks in him arguing she's having flashbacks that I'm crying she's having all type of flashbacks she got PTSD bad okay like she her mind is everywhere just remembering all this stuff that her and this man went through so more little story Little mama's going through it Miss Mama's is stressed out to the max because she has to come basically face to face with her past whatever that may be so she stressed she swigs down a drink she's just knocking them back like she is getting lit in that party she takes her drink and she turns around and we finally see Stephen hurting Stephen lock eyes in the party now one of the first points where I get pissed off with this story and with this show because why did these people and these producers put Stephen in this 27 piece mullet looking thing he looks like a lopsided thumb it's crazy that they will put him in that toupee and I just feel like the there has to be more in the budget like there has to be more in the budget like it almost pisses you off even more because like this is your man this is your king this is the guy that's running through your mind like shikari when I find out the men behind your tears I get a bit shocked and be for real really that's the great like what is going on why are you so obsessed with this man like he is not nothing the whole flashback into your college relationship already had me thinking about my personal stuff like oh yeah he's close to home right now but the fact that when you look back on it it's like wait he's not even like worth it it would kind of I think it almost added an element to it for me like wait you go through so many things with somebody that you feel like you love and that you care about and you accept all kind of stuff that you don't need to accept all type of abuse that you don't need to accept and then like at a certain point when you can look back on it it's like this person was never worth it in the first place and I know it's kind of superficial to just say like he looks crazy so he's not worth it nobody is worth going through that amount of toxicity abuse nobody's worth that you're worth more than any of that damn he is not even cute you going through all that with him okay so we flash back to eight years prior the day that Lucy leaves for college so Lucy is in her room and she's with her boyfriend at the time and she's basically breaking up with him but the way she did it was so funny like she was just like yeah I'm going off to college I just feel like I want to go in single and this is just basically like the end of the road for us and he's like what why did you wait till the day you're leaving for college to tell me this like she was just like what like why are you so upset we later find out that they were together for like two years so that makes it even crazier like she's just and she does not care like she's straight face telling him like I just think we should just go our separate ways so she's completely nonchalant she's completely unboxed bothered and she's just like very matter of fact to tell him like I'm going off to college so we're done and so he's like you don't even seem upset you don't even seem like you care and she's just like okay I'm sorry I don't seem upset enough for you I was like dang girl you cold and so he tells her he's like you're broken inside and he just storms off he goes home because what else can you really do like at that point it's just like you just have to you just kind of have to take your l so she's bringing Kristoff downstairs and her best friend Lydia is with her and she's basically like do you think I'm like inside and her best friend is just like I mean I don't think so I just think you're just not a feelings girl like it just don't be facing you like that but one day you're gonna meet that one person that's gonna get under your skin like and really have you down bad and she's like I cannot wait to see that day so they're in the kitchen and her mom comes in and you know her and her best friend joking and playing around about the whole situation and her mom is like what happened then why'd you break up with Parker so the mom is really upset and she's like why why did you break up with Parker you love Parker like what's wrong with you like she's mad at her for breaking up a Parker like first of all girl this is my life like I get it and stuff but the mom just seemed kind of like okay you're like overly invested in what I got going on a little too much it didn't give me supportive mom Vibes it gave like you are my minion and I tell you what to do and don't do anything that I would disapprove of type of thing the best friend Lydia is like okay it's getting spicy in here I'm gonna go home so you know they hug the best friends whatever and the mom drives her off to college so in the car we start getting a taste for the relationship between Lucy and Lucy's mom and we can tell that this is not a good relationship at all her mom asks her so like are you going to take business classes when you get to college and she was like well I don't think I'll have to take business classes to get an English degree so for that reason no I don't think I'll be doing that and the mom was like well I mean yeah but you can always do more she's basically pushing her to take these business classes that has nothing to do with her major so the mom gives me Vibes of like the type of parent that they have a plan for your life and you're just the best Make My Dreams Come True type of thing it felt like the mom pushes perfectionism presenting yourself a certain way and just doing the most and so she tells the daughter like you know your dad always said you won't get far doing the bare minimum parents like this really do irritate me because it's like you're pushing your kids and you think you're pushing your kids towards success but you're truthfully pushing your kids away from you and they want nothing to do with you once they get older and that's basically what happens when she brings up that like your dad would have we kind of get a sense of the fact that Lucy's dad has passed away and this is something that the mother uses against Lucy to basically make her do what she wants her to do when Lucy started standing up for herself and being like I had to do all this extra stuff to prove myself in high school to get into college but now that I'm in college I don't have to do that her mom is like oh you're not going to get far doing the bare minimum and she was like well I don't care about what other people think of me like some people and she was like what does that mean and she was like I think you know what that means her and her mom are very much going back and forth and her mom was like you used to be so nice your dad would have hated to see this so it's like she keeps bringing up like your dad would if your dad would have to pressure her daughter into meeting her expectations she gave me like narcissistic traits just because like she has an idea of what she wants her daughter to be and if she's not living up to that she's going to guilt her daughter using the death of her husband her late husband to coerce and to control her daughter so we kind of just see all that going on I caught it off rip and I was like I'm not feeling this and I'm not feeling the mom and Lucy is basically not trying to hear none of that she's looking out the window like girl I'm about to be in college like I'm not about to be worried about nothing that you're saying so we can see that like they have a strained relationship and that honestly sets you up for a lot because I feel like a lot of which you don't get in childhood and a lot of the traumas that you face during childhood really set you up to be the person that you become as an adult and the needs that you don't get met in that stage of life definitely have an impact on the type of partners that you end up partnering with the type of relationships that you end up in I love to see that there is that background of like okay like we're figuring out some backstory of like how did these people get into this situation and it's very easy and I see this a lot where people are like just leave them if you're in a toxic relationship just leave but we don't pay attention to a lot of the backstory that gets people into these situations that they feel like they can't get out of and um I think that's important so it gave us some background on her relationship with her mother but we get to College I'm talking about we like yeah this is my story too we get to college and Lucy goes into her dorm and meets her roommate Macy and Macy is so freaking cute like she's so cute and tiny and she's like oh my God like she's one of those people that's just so happy and so excited about life and just happy to be alive like she just gives me those type of Vibes like she's just a joyous young lady and she was so happy to meet Lucy and she went up and hugged her and you know Lucy is not in touch with her emotions Lucy Lucy is like a standoffish type of person she's like oh hey girls hey girl but it's really like girl get off me kind of thing so they hug and they get to know each other and Macy's like oh is it okay if I put these posters up and Lucy's like yeah like I didn't bring any of that like decorative stuff so you could totally put it up they start talking about like where they're from Macy's like I'm from Bayville Lucy's like I'm from Cold Spring Harbor so they figure out okay like our hometown they're not too far from each other let's get into it so they're getting to know each other and this is where Bree and Pippa get introduced into the story because they come in and they are already friends with Macy and they live across the hallway so the girls meet they introduce themselves and they go and get coffee so they get coffee they're walking around campus and guess who bumps into them regularly acting like a frat boy like Wrigley is just so irritating like he has no decorum at all he's like a blithering idiot like he's always just bumbling and stumbling and grabbing somebody and just acting a fool so of course he's doing that and he's coming up to Pippa and he's like so this is where the girls meet him and Pippa is like yeah guys this is Wrigley he's a junior and I met him last year on the tour to come to the university so already we're getting into some realism because in real life the upperclassmen men are notorious for preying on incoming freshman girls so if they met last year and this girl is a freshman and he's a junior now that means he was a sophomore when they met and she was touring the school which means she was still in high school and that's how they met and connected and started talking so you already see like so you're grouping these incoming freshmen and that's truly what it is it's grooming it's not even okay because a lot of them do this for the sole purpose of feeling like these girls are green these girls don't know what's going on and they're going for it period and a lot of that unfortunately is true and it's no fault to the girls it's really just the fact that these girls are walking in to a whole new experience they've never been in college before this is their first rodeo and these men because they're grown men be the first ones to say yeah I'm going to get into that because they know that these girls don't know what's going on and what's what in college yet it's just the fact of the matter so this is something so real and my personal toxic College relationship I met the guy that I was dating as a freshman and he was older than me and looking back on it I did not know I was green like I didn't know what's going on like I literally was fresh out of high school like hello that's what they like you don't know nobody you're out the mix you don't know what the hell is going on and they look at these type of girls as easy to manipulate easy to get something out of and it's just so weird it's honestly weirdo behavior and it needs to be talked about more because it's predatory honestly if we're being very honest it's weird so that aside he invites them to this party they're having a party he's like oh yeah I'm having a party all my friends are gonna be there y'all should come so the girls are like oh hey we might come whatever you know you can't be telling me because you're gonna come you gotta be like um what we're gonna think about it okay like you know you got to play the kids so they playing the kit like okay like we might come or whatever as they're talking to Wrigley Lucy is looking around and of course Wrigley's friends are sitting on the green with their little blanket out and who's sitting on top of that blanket you know Steven is sitting on top of that blanket girl and you know the dramatic music is going on in the background and they're locking eyes and they're like looking at each other and he's like and she's like so they're all into it like okay they're already locked eyes on each other so they see each other but you know they don't speak it's just kind of like a unspoken thing like they looking at each other so we fast forward to later on that day when the girls are getting ready to go to the party because you know them girls is getting ready to go to that party they try to act like oh we might not go y'all know y'all going so they're getting ready for the party they're talking and they're kind of getting to know each other because this is like one of the first nights I think this is the first night so they're talking about virginity because these girls literally just got out of high school like hello it really puts it in perspective like these girls are young Pippa is like I can tell I definitely can tell who's a virgin who's not it's one of my gifts and one of my talents I always know somebody's virgin like Lucy I know you're not a virgin and Lucy was like okay like because she's not so she's like whatever when it comes to Bree Bree is a virgin and so Bree is like oh I just want to lose it and get it over with and I just feel like that's one of those things where it's just like you should not feel pressured to do anything like there's a lot of pressure either way for girls for young girls if you do it then you're a hoe people are gonna look at you sideways and there's all this judgment there's all this flesh shaming there's all this stuff going on and then when you don't want to do it you're approved you're boring you're lame all type of stuff I just think that girls should be informed about being safe so basically she's just at a point where she just wants to get it over with and so they're just talking about it so the conversation kind of shifts to Lucy and they're like well so what's your boy situation Lucy like what do you have going on she's like oh I actually just broke up with my boyfriend today and they're like oh my God like no they're like sympathizing with her and stuff and she's like no don't do all that no it's not that deep like I'm fine trust me and they're like oh like y'all must have not been together that long and she was like no we've been together for two years but you know it's just one of those things where I'm just not tripping on it like so she's just telling them like no I'm not worried about none of that like please trust me and they're like oh so they're gonna like they don't know what to really say and she's just basically like I was just at a place where like everybody around me was getting a boyfriend and my friends had boyfriends and I just wanted one too like it was something to do type of thing and so I think that speaks to just the pressures of being a girl like there's always a standard that you feel like you have to fit and so she felt the pressure to get a boyfriend she got a boyfriend but it wasn't like oh my God like I really like this guy like she got together with him basically for the social capital of saying I have a boyfriend and they're like so you were with him for two years and you didn't like him and she was like it's not that I didn't like him it's really like I just don't get excited about stuff and so she starts talking about the fact when you're a kid you get excited for stuff and like there's so much excitement for life everything is new to you you're experiencing all these new things you're learning about different things it's a very explorative time in your life and after you kind of get used to how everything is and everything kind of calms down it just kind of lacks that novelty and that spark she says unless something's really overwhelming it doesn't really move her so she wants that Adrenaline Rush she wants that spark and she's about to get it she about to get it but after she explains her little Spiel and she kind of goes off on her little tangent the girls are looking at her like she got blank stares and crickets like the girls were not understanding where she was coming from at all they were looking at her like an alien with tin heads so she was just like okay whatever change the subject and so she complains about her outfit that she's wearing tonight because they are getting ready to go to this party Pippa ends up lending her an outfit they go on their merry way so the girls get to the party they pull up to the party and they start taking shots with Evan and Wrigley and you know they're having fun so we meet Evan's girlfriend and she like you know she's talking to everybody but then I think she ends up like trying to go to the bathroom so she tells him like I'm about to go to the bathroom he follows her and he's like why she could go do some coke I haven't made this clear already but this is a pwi people are doing hard drugs at this school he's basically telling her like I know you're about to go to the bathroom to do Coke so he's we can see he's given a little overbearing tea and so Wrigley is over there with the girls and he's like yeah and you know Evan like he can't live without a girlfriend like ruining his life so we kind of see like okay okay Evan Evan you're giving me attachment issues but you know go off so after that Wrigley introduced is us and the girls I'm act like we're in the story y'all like we're in the show too so Wrigley introduced us to his brother Drew and his brother Drew is a freshman as well so Wrigley asks his brother like did you come alone and he's like yeah he told me I couldn't invite my roommate right and Wrigley is like oh yeah no freshman allowed the girls are like no freshman allowed what's tea cause we freshmen and he's like oh no freshman guys allowed so this is already another data point that is proving my statement that these men are literally creating a scenario where they're surrounded with all these freshman girls they're the upperclassmen they're the only people in this environment and they're preying on these girls and it's weird and I'm not saying that like there can't be these age gaps in college I'm not saying that it's inherently bad or it's inherently weird but there are people who seek out these girls for specific reasons with nefarious intent and that's what I'm talking about so I was already like okay like whatever so Lucy is wandering around she goes upstairs to go grab her a drink because she's thirsty she's trying to get lit she's at the party you know she goes upstairs to grab a drink and she starts overhearing a conversation by the drinks there's two girls having a conversation one of the girls is like you really dragged me here to spy on your ex-boyfriend like this is getting sick like we're sitting up around here with all these 18 year old Trish and I cannot do like I need to go to the bathroom and after I get out I'm ready to leave so now it's just Lucy and the other girl so the other girl's name is Diana and Diana introduces herself to Lucy and she's like hi I'm Diana and you know I'm sorry for my friend's comment about you know the 18 year old thoughts but she was like oh that's fine because I'm not one of them not one of them so don't worry Diana asked who invited her and she says oh this guy Wrigley and she's like um be careful with him so she's trying to do that like big sister one you could tell she's an upperclassman you can tell she's looking down on the little girls little girls like that's how she's making it out it's like a shady exchange but but it happens and Lucy makes her way downstairs so while Lucy is going downstairs with her drink in hand all of a sudden Steven pops up now this is gonna be a theme in the story Steven is just gonna start popping up wherever she is and it's actually gonna start to piss me off because why are you always here like how are you always here how do you always know where I'm at but he bumps into her and he's like you look uncomfortable in that dress and she's like who were you who are you talking to me like that and he's like oh I'm Steven they introduce themselves and so he's like oh like where are you from and she says where she's from and then he starts saying the most stereotypical things about wherever she's from like oh you probably like play tennis and wear cable knit sweaters and all this stuff so the exchange the best way I could describe it is like he's mixing insults compliments Charisma and [ __ ] just send all type of stuff and it comes off very like captivating because it's almost like what are you talking about like what's going on he's making inappropriate comments all kinds and so she's like do you talk to everybody that you be like this and he's like yeah and so she was like well how do people feel about it and he's like I'm pretty polarizing so I'm like rolling my eyes to the back of my head because I know that the charm is getting to her and I know she's going for it I frankly know that she's going for it and she's eating it the hell up he's sprinkling in like little insults but not like insults to where you want to smack him but like little insults that's like what did you just say but then he follows it up with something cute and it's like okay so he pulls her in and he's like you're killing me in that dress so as soon as he says that Macy and everybody like the whole gang holds up y'all know how when white people recognize each other they'd be like Stephen DeMarco that's exactly what Macy says she's like David like how are you everybody's like how the hell y'all know each other they're like oh like they're both from Bayville type of thing they're both from the same place so we're like okay whatever so Steven basically meets Peppa he needs Bree he meets the girls the rest of the girls that's her friends they're trying to figure out what they're gonna do after and the girls are kind of like ready to go they're like ready to go to the next spot Drew which is Wrigley's brother is like oh like my roommate is having something back in his dorm and stuff but you know they're freshmen or whatever so the guys are like you don't want to go to no freshman party on your first day at College like that's so lame like basically trying to tell them what to do and they're basically like um goodbye Pippa is the only one that stays is behind with her man she's with her man she's going to stick beside him so that's where that night ends and we fast forward to the next day so the next day the girls are at the calf they're debriefing from the night before y'all know when y'all go out and like you go out with your friends and so much happens it's like the next day y'all just gotta sit down and chop it up and talk about like okay what just happened like we have to get into the tea so that's what they're doing they're doing their debrief they're talking about the night and the girls are like telling Bree Wrigley's brother was all over you y'all was flirting and she was like I want to see if we were flirting like we didn't kiss we didn't do anything you know like telling the girls is really going on and they're over there chopping it up and and the conversation gets brought back up to Lucy Pippa is like girl Steven is into it like he tries to get into it honey and she's like really how do you know and basically he told Wrigley Wrigley tells his girl his girl is telling you he's into you he wants to see what's going on and Lucy's eating it up she's like really she's trying to seem like she doesn't care so she's like really but she's like you know getting the tea or whatever she's like I don't know if he's my type like I mean when I was with him he kind of seemed cute but like now that I'm not with him I can't even think about like what he looks like so this also basically goes to show what I was saying earlier like he's not all that like he is really not all that Pippa is like yeah that's called charm so he's basically Charming your pants off you're thinking he's cuter than he really is he's not even that cute okay but then pip is like well you don't know what your type is because you've never really liked nobody before Pippa asks Macy like more about him because she was acting like she knew him she was like I don't really know that much about him he just kind of like went to my school and I don't know like I don't really know much about the boy Lucy and Macy are getting something to eat and they're in the line and they're just talking like they're just chopping it up Lucy starts talking about the fact that over the summer she already has plans to go to India because her dad went on this trip to India during his like the summer of going into his sophomore year of college and it was like a really formative experience for him and she wants to go and do the same itinerary that he did since he is passed away and I thought that was sweet and the girls kind of talked about it and Macy mentions that like the last night like when you were talking about you know not really getting excited about things Lucy tries to kind of like oh like yeah that was so stupid I was drunk and she was like no like I totally get where he was coming from and it was just a sweet moment like the girls were connecting they were really bonding like as roommates and you could see that they were starting to be like closer and so they're like oh my God like I'm so happy you're my roommate she was like I'm so happy you're my roommate and like it was just a cute little wholesome moment between the girls like it touched my heart like oh cute so after that Macy says I want to tell you something like I have a secret but it's kind of embarrassing and right before she's about to tell Lucy what she was gonna tell her her phone starts ringing so Lucy moves over and she's like hold on let me get this and she answers the phone and guess who it is of course it's Steven so she's like hello and he's like hey what's up and she's like who is this and he's like it's Steven how did you get my number oh Wrigley got it from pipa but anyway like what's up like do you want to go to dinner she was like I can go to the cath anytime like and he was like I wasn't gonna take you to the calf like I mean like a real date and she's like can I think about it she's kind of caught off guard and he's just like it's not that deep it's just dinner like it's not that serious and so she's like I gotta go we'll play it by ear so she's playing a kid as she should and I was proud of her in that moment I knew it was gonna last obviously we know she's gonna fall for this guy but it was cute like I like the fact that she was like playing a kid like no I'm not about to you know you gotta make them kind of Wonder like leave these people mind wondering a little bit you can't just give to him like that you know so I like that I like that moment for her but it doesn't last long obviously so we fast forward to later on that day the girls are on the green there's they got their blanket out they said and you know it's a nice day they're sitting they're chilling people are throwing a frisbee throwing a football like people are just being in college basically brie is over there on a blanket with Wrigley's brother Drew and they're over there making out so we can see that the girls were right there was chemistry and there was something going on between those two so they're on the blanket doing their thing and the girls are like when they're kissing like you know being dumb it's Pippa Lucy and Macy hanging out and you know they're shooting a breeze and whatever Lucy gets a phone call she gets a phone call from somebody saving her phone as CJ so they're like who's CJ like who are you talking to and she's like it's my mom and they're like oh why do you have her name saved as CJ like why don't you have it saved as Mom or whatever and she basically says she lost the privilege to be called on Mom the Mom leaves this delusional voicemail so she plays the voicemail and the mom is basically like I don't know what happened and why you're so upset but if it has to do with your dad dying I don't like that you're taking that out on me your dad would hate to see us fight like this heavy on the delusion light on the accountability like she's not taking accountability for like you know putting too much pressure on her daughter or just like using her dad's death against her unnecessarily and unfairly like she's not talking about none of that she's just kind of playing the victim so this really sends Lucy for a loop she starts having almost like a panic attack and she kind of just gets up after listening to that voicemail and she's just like guys I'm not feeling well I think I got a delayed hangover like so she started lying she's like Muslim she got a delay hangover she needs to go lay down she about to just go back to the dorm so whatever so she goes back to the dorms and we see that sometime has passed so Macy comes back to the room and she's like hey are you okay she's like yeah I'm fine what happened before I don't really want to talk about it that's how Lucy deals with her problems she doesn't she doesn't want to talk about it she doesn't want to get into it she kind of just wants to be left to her own devices and so that's what she tells her like you know like I don't want to talk about it okay after she tells her like she doesn't want to talk about it Macy's like okay well do you want to go out and it's like the way she said it was like y'all know that Tick Tock that's like hey what you doing are you at work that's crazy so anyways that's kind of how she was like oh you know okay well um come to this party with me later Lucy's like where's Pippa and Bree and she's like they're with boys like let's just go and she's like honestly I don't feel like going Macy kind of keeps asking her like come on like it'll be fun and she kind of snaps at her like I told you I'm not going like don't don't try to guilt me into going and she's like oh I didn't mean to guilt you and stuff and she's just like okay Macy decides to go to the party by herself which is a big No-No like at least like with my roommates when we were in college I don't ever remember nobody going to a party strictly by their self and so the next morning when Lucy wakes up she looks over and Macy's bed is still made and she's not in the bed she goes to the calf and she's with Pippa pippa's like oh she probably hooked up with somebody like it's still early she's still got time to come home like don't even trip about it like she's probably just still out so while they're in the calf we see this girl and she looks kind of hysterical and she's talking to some officers something is not right like something is not right the girls are leaving the calf and they bump into Brie and Brie is like looking distraught like she's seen a damn ghost so they're like what's wrong you guys haven't heard and they're like No And so here we learn that Macy did not come home last night because she was in an accident and they're like what basically Macy did not survive Bree explains to the girls that she was in a car wreck she ran into a tree she was driving drunk and she's been killed so Lucy is like overwhelmed she's like this is too much because the last time she spoke to her they kind of left off on like an awkward foot and kind of had an argument so she felt like really bad about that and it was just a lot she kind of steps away from the conversation because she kind of just needs to regroup and she's getting a call on her phone and it's her mom it's CJ but of course Steven pulls up at the absolute worst time in the world and it's like who's calling you your ex which one of your exes is calling you and she's like she snaps on him and she's like you need to mind your business you need somebody in your business and get the hell out of my face basically and I just loved that like any time something bad happens to Stephen my heart Smiles so I was like yeah that's what you get because why are you all up in my phone why are you even here in the first place and why are you all over my phone telling me is this your ex or whatever like if it was and if it was what would that do what are you talking about like he's so irritating oh my God he irritates me so she goes back to her dorm because she's stressed out like she's over stimulated so the girls go back to their dorm and they're drinking and she's just venting to them like yeah like I got into a really bad argument with her before she left and they're like it's not your fault so the girls start talking about this vigil that they're gonna have it was a bonfire originally but then they changed it to like a vigil because of Macy's passing so we flash forward to the vigil and the girls are there the whole friend group so all the guys are there Wrigley is there Evan and his girlfriend are there Bree is sitting with the group and she sees Drew from across the bonfire and she waves at him and he kind of like just kind of walks away so he's acting standoffish and he's acting stush like he's just not into it one of Wrigley's friends Tim joins the group and he sees Bree and he's like you're pretty it was like everybody's having their little sidebar conversations and they're trying to figure out like if they want to go to his party and they're like is it wrong to go to this party like during this time and Evan's girlfriend is like I mean I don't think it's wrong let's party you know because she's she's a party girl so she's ready to go and all that so they all decide to go to a party after the bonfire so they're in the party in one scene we see Tim the guy that we met at the bonfire is in the corner or making out with Bree like it's a lot going on and Lucy is getting drunk like drunk drunk so she's drinking and she started drinking too much and she goes outside and starts throwing up so of course when she's outside throwing up who comes who shows up guys Steven shows up of course he helps her up she's a mess obviously like she's clearly a mess and he was just like okay like I'll take you home and as he's like carrying her she's like I'm not gonna have sex with you and he was like at this point like I know what that's off the table so they go back to her dorm and she's brushing her teeth he tucks her in and once she gets in the bed she just starts crying and she's like people don't think I'm nice anymore he was like well people don't think I'm nice so he's trying to like make her feel better he's trying to comfort her and he tucks her in the bed and she asked him to basically spend the night with her she doesn't want to be alone in the dorm he climbs up in that twin size bed when they was crunched up in that twin size bed I got flashbacks of college because I used to be crushed up in that bed too so Lucy and Steven wake up the next morning and Lucy is embarrassed it's very embarrassing okay and she's like oh my God I feel so bad I can't believe I got that drunk like I'm so sorry I'm sorry for everything like she's apologizing to this man why would you ever do that so she's apologizing to him and he's like don't worry about it I understand and she's like Macy's death is just hitting me really hard and which is understandable like I was her roommate even though she didn't know her that well the topic of Macy's death is basically brought into the conversation and Steven is just like yeah it's so sad what happened to her like I didn't really know her that well but it's really sad so he asks her who was calling her yesterday and I'm like this [ __ ] really want to know something like you better be in this girl business like you are in the business a little bit too much Lucy don't even like being questioned like that so he asked her who was blowing up your line and she answered and she was just basically like it was my mom I don't really have a good relationship with her this is where she mentions that her mom did something so unforgivable that she will never be able to forgive her and that their relationship will never be the same so obviously her mother violated in some type of way but she's just talking about how the relationship with her mother is very difficult and then he starts joining in and saying oh yeah like I don't have a good relationship with my mom either he starts going into it like his mom kind of sucks too and his dad left when he was six years old and they would get evicted from houses basically it was really tumultuous growing up and it was hard to grow up without her father and they had a lot of financial issues so Lucy is like feeling sympathy which okay that's fine it's normal to feel sympathy and empathy for these type of situations but as we will learn further and further along into the story Steven is a very toxic person I feel like he has the upper hand in the situation and he manipulates her a lot sharing these things especially when she opened up and she shared he opened up and shared so she can feel like on the receiving end of it like they're having this intimacy they're having this vulnerability and sharing like their childhood experiences but some people will do this as a means to gain your empathy and to in turn make you feel closer to them than you actually are so it's like a fake pseudo vulnerability that you feel so close to them but they do not care and I think Stephen is one of those people who is simply just doing this in order to gain her trust so Lucy is like oh my God like I'm so sorry that you have to go through that like that seems terrible and he's like yeah well something that would make me feel better is if you would let me go on a date with you and take you to dinner she was like you still want to go out to dinner with me after I like threw up on you and all this other stuff and he was like yeah I mean you're cute he gives her basically he gives her a TBH she's like I mean you're pretty and you're kind of cool I guess this is little words he's like you're kind of cool I guess and I know that could be like a playful little thing but I Jenny genuinely think that he says this stuff and he means it like yeah you're cool I guess like you're whatever but they start getting into it like they start making out they're getting ready to start canoodling and he's like should I lock the door and she kind of collects herself and she was like honestly I think we should leave it there for today um that was enough thank you I really kind of just want to take it slow I don't want to rush into anything and he agrees and he's like playing the respectful kid and he's like okay well he gets her forehead kiss and he tells her to drink water you know hydrate get some rest and feel better and I will see you later so she thanks him for helping her and he's out and he's on his merry way so he gets back to his dorm and who do we see standing by his door none other than Miss Diana Ross no none other than Diana from the party so remember Diana was at the party and her friend was like did you really bring us here to spy on your ex he's the X in question Diana and Steven were dating and she's standing by his door and she's like can we talk and he's like I've been trying to talk to you all week of course we can talk so she comes into his room and she sees that his bed is made so she's like where are you coming from and he's like oh I got high and crash a release place and then he says you should be happy that I wasn't doing blow I was like what in the world is going on in this school she's like I miss you but I'm still mad at you and he was like well I miss you too and so stop being mad at me and she's basically like I cannot trust you anymore how do you think it makes me feel when you're flaunting around these freshmen and flirting with them in my face we learned that Diana and Steven broke up because he cheated on her so she's like how do you think I'm supposed to trust you if you constantly was cheating on me questions that need answers he does a good little switch of room as a narcissist would honestly and it flips the situation around on her and he was like I've been trying to get back with you for the longest for the past two months so at this point the ball is in your core of what you want to do I've been telling you I love you I've been telling you I care about you so if you don't want to get in line and if you don't want to get in tune that's on you you did this with your rule and she's like the trust has been been broken like she's begging and pleading it was a one-time thing I was drugged like it will never happen again well I don't understand why men love saying that um it doesn't make the situation better it doesn't change the fact that you cheated it doesn't change anything and this what I'm about to say is like every guy that's cheated favorite line because this line got thrown at me when I got you doing this this man I'm gonna say so you're really about to throw away two years over one over one time I find it find it so interesting how in these situations like the onus and the blame get shifted on the person that was not cheating that was doing what they were supposed to do in the relationship this person that wants to leave you for violating the foundation of your relationship is the one that's throwing away the years it's obviously the person that cheated that's thrown away the years so she asks him if he has hooked up with anybody else since they broke up and he was like I haven't wanted to know technically he didn't hook up with anybody but literally 20 minutes ago he was in Lucy's dorm trying to get jiggy with it trying to start canutering with her she didn't let him so that he went back to his dorm and now he's telling you that he hasn't been with nobody like make a big sense and he's actively pursuing something with Lucy they start making out they actually begin canoodling and they're in the middle of the act of the canoodle and she's just like I can't do this right now and so he gets off no means no so he does get off and um she's like I love you but it's gonna take a while for me to trust you again and he was like I love you too and they kissed and she leaves so he starts to try to canoodle with himself he tries to finish it because he's you know feeling some type of way and he gets a call from Wrigley and he's like Something's Happened it's about Macy you need to come to my dorm right now so he drops everything he goes over to the dorm so the scene cuts to Stephen going to release apartment and Drew is on the bed and Drew is like I really messed up and that's all that's really said Drew is somehow involved in Macy's death the scene cuts to a text from Lucy saying that she agrees to go to dinner with him now we're seeing Lucy and she's picking out her outfit for the day and it's a lot of cutting of the scenes so then it cuts back to Stephen and he's going to go pick her up and it keeps flashing back between them and she's turning around at the engagement party and then she's getting ready like it's a lot of time jumping but it basically ends with Steven during college so we're back to the college time he knocks on the door she opens the door and he's says are you ready and that is the end of episode one y'all a lot happened a lot went on but it gets really really really really really really really juicy if you guys enjoyed this review of episode one of tell me lies
