joining us here on this special programming today but of course the most important guest the man of the hour five-star wide receiver khik Lockett will be joining us in just a few minutes to make his college commitment live but before we get to him let's go ahead and tell you a little bit more about this Prospect khik locket absolutely putting up video game numbers in his Junior season he caught 59 passes for nearly 1300 yards no need to get out the calculator I did the math for you that is 22 yards per reception he also added 13 touchdowns let's take a quick look at his Prospect profile he is the 12th ranked player in the nation number two wide receiver the fifth best Prospect in the talent Rich state of Texas and speaking of Texas excited to welcome in National recruiting analyst Mike roach who is here at the desk with us Mike give us your final Intel what are you hearing ahead of this big decision it's been uh a recruitment full of ups and downs I think each of these schools has enjoyed their moment in the Sun during the Spring visits all those you know the stock goes up and down after the post visit High uh but I really feel like Texas and Alabama separated themselves in the summer Alabama getting the late visit uh they weren't really even on the board for him at that point te has been a longtime favorite for him since kind of coming into the game in the early spring but I like Texas here I put my crystal ball in uh a couple of weeks ago after you know confirming with some sources talking with both on K side and on the college side I think the Longhorns can get it done and they desperately need it I mean they this would be their first five-star commitment in the class big deal if uh the Youtube chat has anything to say about it I see a lot of elephants roll tied and of course the hookham horns you spent a lot of time with KH and the whole locket family we know he's a spectacular player we'll continue to talk about his uh prowess on the field but in in knowing his family and knowing him what stands out about him just as a person uh a spectacular person I mean he is a really caring kid uh a really uh uh generous and and honest kid and it's been really refreshing because you know we deal with a lot during covering these recruitments sometimes your you're you know recruits and their parents playing games with you or something like that they've been incredibly open through the entire process have invited me in on it um and you know I mean C's I'm his first call after every visit so I get like the the fresh uh perspective right after he gets off the plane everywhere so uh wonderful set of parents that have been guiding him through this process and kind of keeping his head on straight I I think what speaks best about it was I mentioned the post visit highs and there were a lot of them throughout his process I mean it's it's hard not to right but when they came back from their last official visit the emphasis was we're going to take a couple of weeks we are going to make sure there is no nothing over clouding this we're going to clear his head and then we will make the decision I think that's the guidance these kids need I know the locket family was hoping that you would be there in person today but we get to have you here in studio with us in Nashville still a part of this big commitment so we appreciate you joining us thank visits all across the country What's it been like uh yes um uh it's been a while for show um uh you know from not having as many offers my sophomore year to exploding to 30 you know in like eight months you know it's been crazy you know with all the phone calls I've been getting text messages from fans you know all that so you know you know it's a blessing for sure now we know nobody gets to this point alone you're are not at that table alone so who do you have here with you that you'd like to thank I got my dad and my and my beautiful mother right here I love it all right khik you have the floor tell us where you headed to play your college ball D it's a lot of people here man I want I also want to say thank y'all for coming for sub um yeah um first and foremost I like to thank god you have the Texas hat on so tell us why' you pick the Longhorns uh I chose Texans because you know I believe in Co what coar is doing and I believe with Coach Jackson and his NFL um uh resume I feel like he can take me to being one of the best season of college football all right and what are you going to bring to Texas when you arrive on campus in just a few years besides headaches uh probably I'm oh yeah I'm a boss what's up always I love it uh man there's a lot of people that are very happy in the chat right now a lot of this symbol throwing up so speak to the Texas fans out there why khik Lockett is the top prospect in this group and will fit right in when he is officially added to this SEC offense we have to add somebody else to this show here so let's bring on Hank south of horns 247 and uh Hank I mean what a massive win in state for Texas what does Landon khik Lockett mean for this Longhorn Squad yeah it's huge you know Texas didn't have U you know the best July on the recruiting Trail um if everyone was paying attention to it you know they missed on on a handful guys including another fivestar inate wide receiver and and Dori and more so you know to turn around and be able to uh to to come get um khle Lockett over you know a pretty heated recruiting battle like Mike was talking about earlier against you know Alabama Florida State Texas A&M you know just that alone you know keeping him away from some of your uh your SEC Rivals that you're about to face year in and year out that's a big deal as well but to get him um in a in a year that the wide receiver position is loaded is a really big deal and so I know you know people in Texas are really excited you know he he is a big-time player um with a lot of ability and you know Texas is kind of turning into a wide receiver destination you know last class they get Ryan Wingo um they go out in the portal and get Isaiah Bond Silas Balin Matthew golden and now you know to kick off this wide receiver class in 2025 with khik Lockett is really significant you certainly hope that this is a commitment that continues to snowball you said Texas didn't have a ton of luck on the recruiting Trail in July but August so far so good so who else is on Texas's radar moving forward yeah you know July could be could be a huge month for Texas you know there there's several more five-star recruits announcing their decisions um you know you look at a guy like Jonah Williams the festar safety from galeston Texas he's announcing his commitment on uh on on August 24th and that's one that's kind of gone you know had all you know twists and turns you know there's been talk about Oklahoma Texas A&M Oregon but Texas is kind of just quietly staying in the mix there they didn't get him in on campus for an official visit in the summer but they did host him for the day um right before that Dead period ended again on uh on July 25th and uh seem to be making a move there you know he's both a football and a baseball Prospect so the addition of Jim schlagle uh for the baseball program has been a really big deal with Jonah Williams and so that's one we're tracking closely in terms of another big decision we could see happen you know in the next two days uh DJ Sanders the four-star defensive lineman from Belleville that's one spot where you know Texas is working on really bolstering in this class that interior defensive line um and he's been a one of their primary targets at the position he's announcing at midnight uh tomorrow night so the night of August 8th morning of August 9th for some clarity there he's just going to Tweet out his announcement at midnight so uh fans might want to you know get a Red Bull get some coffee but talk about a guy 6'4 295 pounds someone that can kind of go after that mold of tandre sweat and keep that interior defensive line success they have going that would be a big get for Texas and then last but not least another five-star receiver who's going to be making a decision in about you know just over three weeks Jamie French from Jacksonville Florida um he's been another you know with khik Lockett Jamie French has been right there in terms of top targets at that wide receiver position and you know this is one Texas has really come on this spring and summer in you know he was an Alabama commit at one point um backed off that pledge Ohio state was seen as the team to beat and then Texas gets him on campus in in April and really starts to Surge in his Recruitment and now we're at the point where you know few all right thank you to Hank South scouting Andrew Ivans of course to talk about the prospect that is Kik blck it uh we talked a little bit about the wide receiver class as a whole he's number two in that group what is it that makes him so special well he's number two and I think you can make the case that his Junior tape might be number one and I know Doran Moore is at the top but we love what he put on tape as a junior excellent with his release and he's got a my ball type of mentality and when you get around khik Lockett he is not the biggest individuals but he's got long arms he's got big 10 and CH and you see the body control the hand eye coordination he goes up and he gets the football and I think he is someone that on the outside in a Steve sarkeesian offense he's in a a situation where he could eat right and you know the player comp for KH locket we've been going back and forth he reminds me of Jerry Judy the former Alabama wide receiver who was a first round pick has spent time with the Denver Broncos in the NFL he hasn't had a ton of success on Sundays but if you think about Jerry Judy what he did in college and remember Steve sarkeesian was his play caller for two seasons in those two years 145 catches just under 200 or 2500 yards 24 touchdowns I think there's a lot of similarities between those two I scouted Jerry Judy coming out of high school I see it with khik Lockett I think the other thing that stands out and Hank was kind of touching about this first instate Prospect that's ranked in the top 10 to commit to the Longhorns and I think that's a a huge statement we'll see if this kind of leads to more guys jumping in the boat but it is becoming a wide receiver destination that's because they aired out and they got a really good quarterback room so uh huge addition for the Longhorns it's not just wide receiver recruiting we see how much success they have in the portal Hank listed all of those great wide receivers and and you of course talk about the Steve sarkeesian offense and just how well he will fit into it so what do you anticipate for him fitting into this Texas offense well you know he's someone that we think could play right away and that's why we have him ranked on the other side or as high as we do and you know Ryan Wingo a f-star wide receiver that Texas brought in uh this past recruiting cycle he is already creating plenty of Camp buzz and I think Ryan Wingo is a little bit maybe more polished and physically ready to go but khik Lockett is certainly someone that could be part of the rotation and make an impact right away to me if the longh horns are able to pair him with Jamie French who Hank mentioned as a a another five star that's heavily considering UT I think that's a perfect combination Jamie French a guy that can play on the inside and the outside I think the ability to you know potentially flank those guys that's going to cause issues for opposing defensive coordinators so uh again really like how this glass is shaping up for Texas khik Lockett someone we're going to continue to evaluate as a senior love what he did as a junior and I think that All-Star Game really excited to see him in that type of setting you know he's W one of the rare prospects where like the film's kind of better than the in-person evaluations but we're still a Believer we love what he's able to do we love how he attacks the football and again you know just that my ball mentality the film is pretty fantastic we've showed some clips here on the show but overall I mean just what a win for Texas today Andrew thank you so
