2024 College Football Playoff Predictions: Who Is In?

Introduction the 2024 college football season marks the inaugural season of the 12 team expanded college football playoff and I am here today to tell you which teams will make the 12 team playoff consequentially which teams will win the ACC Big 12 Big 10 and SEC as 99.9% of the time those will be the highest ranked Conference champions and will get the first round buys and of course who wins the most accurate in your mind but without further Ado let's Dive Right In and I will give you my predictions for the 2024 college football playoff but please like this video before we do that because liking this video will help us get into the algorithm reach more college football fans and get more of them to comment on this list to give me very important feedback whether they think I'm way off I'm right whether I'm on to something and accurately predicting a sleeper team to make it that no one else is paying attention to maybe they think I'm missing a sleeper Team Missing an obvious VI team college football playoff before we even talk about the matchups so at number one I have Georgia this is Who Is In The 12-Team College Football Playoff? unchanged from my previous college football playoff prediction video I'm picking Georgia to win the SEC and finish the regular season with a 12-1 record there's sole loss coming to Alabama in the regular season in Tuscaloosa but the Bulldogs will avenge that matchup in Atlanta capturing the SEC for the first time since 2022 speaking of a team that will win their conference this year and is not a repeat Champion I give you the Ohio State Buckeey at number two now what's funny about this placement is in my previous prediction video I picked Michigan to win the Big 10 for the fourth consecutive year despite also losing to the Buckeyes in Columbus which I think will occur still in this set of predictions the difference is in my winter predictions the Big 10 shook out with Ohio State at 1 and Michigan at two in the regular season standings now due to tie Breakers and a variety of changes to my winter predictions that have updated to my summer predictions Michigan shakes out to third in the Big 10 Oregon is second so they will rematch with Ohio State and Indianapolis instead of a rematch between Ohio State and Michigan and while I think the Ducks beat the Buckeyes in the regular season the Buckeyes will win all of their other games games including their rematch against Oregon to capture the Big 10 for the first time since the 2019 season or the 2020 season rather finishing with a 12 and one record at number three we have the Miami Hurricanes who have not won the ACC yet since they joined the ACC they have not even appeared in the ACC Championship game but both of those things will change this season the hurricanes have an easy schedule and they will win all of their games except for what should be a big top 10 matchup potentially top 10 matchup against Florida state in the regular season but they will rematch you're seeing a theme here they will rematch with the seals for the ACC Championship and they will win that rematch they will win the second time around capturing a first round buy and winning the ACC the Atlantic Coast Conference for the first time in school history and at number four we have the Utah Utes who I am picking to win the Big 12 in their inaugural season in the conference with a 12- one record their sole loss coming to Oklahoma State in the regular season and they will meet up with West Virginia in the Big 12 and win that game to secure a first round buy and number five we have the Alabama Crimson Tide who will go undefeated with a 12-0 record in the regular season but drop the SEC Championship Game to Georgia they are the top seed who does not receive a byee and number six we have the Michigan Wolverines who due to Oregon's loss in Indianapolis and the fact that outside of their loss to Ohio State they are going to win and dominate in their other 11 games they will be slotted in with an 11- one record at number six at number seven we have the 12 in1 Florida State seminal who like Alabama went 12-0 in the regular season but dropped that one game in their conference Championship matchup and consequentially have to play an extra game and at number eight we have the Penn State nitty Lions a white out playoff game that's what's going to be on display if Penn State makes the playoff and hosts a game and I'm very confident that they will because their schedule is easy they'll lose to Ohio state yet again just James Franklin being incapable of winning a big game but they'll make the college football playoff winning all of their other 11 matchups at the ninth seed we have the Missouri Tigers who will go 11- one losing on the road in a very tough game at Alabama but you're seeing a theme here another theme not just constant rematches but teams with easy schedules good teams with easy schedules are going to be rewarded and Missouri is one of them at the 10th seed we have Oregon who due to their two losses will be seated below several teams who they will probably be power ranked ahead of I.E Missouri maybe Penn State Florida State and M maybe Miami and Utah probably those two actually but they'll be seated at 10 due to their two losses losing to Michigan in the regular season and Ohio State in the regular season SL championship week at 11 we have the Iowa Hawkeyes again easy schedule they're probably the worst team that I'm picking to reach the playoff in the power four but they'll win their other 11 games with a dominant defense and they have enough respectable opponents that an 11-1 Iowa as long as their offense is top 100 would get in over a 10-2 Old Miss or a 9 and3 LSU which is my prediction for ol Miss and LSU and with an extra win and the same amount of quality wins in games as the rebels and the Tigers have Iowa would be forced to be accepted over those two teams and at 12 I have Liberty who I'm predicting to go 3 and 0 and win Conference USA in dominant fashion now let's get to the matchups in the first round I have Alabama blowing out Liberty I think we 1st Round Matchup Predictions can all see this coming it will be a home matchup in Tuscaloosa and kin dor I think is one of the best head coaches in the country I think that Jaylen milro will become one of the best quarterbacks in the country and Alabama has several star players on both sides of the football Liberty is Kaden Salter a very good quarterback and Jamie Chadwell is underrated but it's in Tuscaloosa Alabama is not going to be overlooking Liberty trust me because that's how good of a coach kin dor is and even if they were to the talent disparity is such that I would pick Alabama at worst to win this game by three or four scores I have Penn State beating Missouri in what I think will be the most entertaining first round college football playoff game if there is any team that is going to go north and play the Big 10 in a big 10 stadium in the cold it is Missouri who faces Midwest weather and who has a genius in Eli drinkwitz a tough offensive line including star Caden green an elite white receiver room with Luther Burton mookie Cooper Theo whis and a quarterback in Brady cook who's gutsy Penn State under James Franklin has a bad habit of not winning big games but with HomeField Advantage a white out behind the team a defense that features stars like Abdul Carter Kevin Winston AJ Harris and Andy codal Nikki revitalizing Reviving whatever term you want to use just bringing this offense to a level that we have not seen since the trace murle saquan Barkley era I think that with his style of offense the oine will take steps forward Nicholas Singleton KRON Allen will take steps forward and Drew Aller will look a whole lot better in this new system I think the nitty Lions pull out a win here and they advance to the second round I have Michigan beating Iowa this will probably be the least entertaining and most ey scratching gouging your eyes out game in the playoffs Michigan and Iowa are both teams that will have a elite defenses that are much better than their offenses though Michigan will have a good maybe great offense Iowa's offense will still be bad to below average at best which is why I think the Wolverines will win this game Mason Graham and Kenneth Grant defensive tackle make up easily the best defensive tackle duo in the country and I think Michigan has the best defensive line they also have cornerback will Johnson running back Donovan Edwards will have yet again a great offensive line to help him gouge opposing defenses Iowa they have Jay Higgins and Nick Jackson who are probably some of the two best linebackers in the country and Sebastian Castro will certainly fill in the shoes of Cooper Dee but on offense they have Kade mamera who's good at best but he doesn't have much of a Supporting Cast so with the Wolverines at home you got to go with Michigan and probably buy a sizable margin of Victory and I have the Florida State seminal beating the Oregon Ducks this was one of the hardest matchups to decide but at the end of the day it comes down to fentral Cypress DJ Lundy and that Florida State Defense coached by defensive coordinator Adam Fuller ironically Mike Norvell is an offensive mind coaching a team that leans towards defense and Dan Lanning is a defensive mind who leans towards coaching and offense team I think that's kind of funny and Oregon has Dylan Gabriel at quarterback Jordan James at running back Johnny Cornelius and Josh Connor Le Jr as a great offensive tackle Duo they return wide receiver TZ Johnson and bring back Jordan Burch and they have players on defense as well like Jeffrey basa or Derek Harmon or Jamari Caldwell Florida State they bring in royell Williams they also bring in DJ IAL TJ Ferguson I could go on and on they've used the transfer portal very well their recruiting is on the rise and they're at home and this team and their fan base is going to show out if they get into the playoff because they were snubbed last season they deserved to get in and be ranked higher than Alabama and Texas who had one loss meanwhile Florida State overcame a ton of adversity went 13-0 destroyed and I mean destroyed a great LSU team had some other impressive wins Tallahassee dope Campbell stadium is going to be a hornets nest if anyone has to play in it opposing Florida State in a postseason college football playoff matchup so for those reasons and the fact that defense wins championships I got to go with Florida State over Oregon in another close and entertaining game much like Penn State versus Missouri and in the second round of matchups I have the Utah Utes upsetting the Alabama Crimson Tide now that would certainly be a big upset I could see already if this matchup were to occur 2nd Round Matchup Predictions Alabama being favored by a 13-1 Alabama who destroyed or dominated most of their opponents outside of Georgia and maybe a home game against Missouri a close win maybe a close win that ends up being a significant win by the fourth quarter they'd probably be favored over a 12-1 Utah team by more than a touchdown Maybe by double digits it could be a similar spread to the Georgia TCU one uh the difference is Alabama does have some questions as it relates to a kin deor system their defense last year was near Elite but not Elite and they lose several talented players particularly in the backfield from that position milro I think will be phenomenal but his offensive line has questions they lost Center Seth mclocklin Kaden Proctor went into the portal and came back and their offensive line last year was outside of the top 100 in saaks aloud and they have talent but I don't like their offensive line coach Chris kapovich and at wide receiver they have Jeremy Bernard they have other talented players but they have to emerge and there are just enough questions with Alabama that having to play in the Fiesta Bowl where this matchup will take place due to the fact that it is the closest available second round neutral site game to Utah's HomeField rice eel Stadium having to play in that environment against a team that I think is more sound in the trenches better on defense and does more with less and also is in more than year 10 of their system while Alabama is just starting out I feel like Alabama running into one of the most fundamentally sound teams in the country and maybe overlooking the youths to maybe get a sneak peek at whether it's Penn State or Georgia I think that results in Utah winning and Kyle Whittingham consequentially earning his first college football playoff win in his first college football playoff appearance and in the Sugar Bowl I think this one was kind of easy Georgia against Penn State I have the Bulldogs winning and probably winning this game by a big margin now Penn State Should with the roster they have I think compete for a half maybe for three quarters but Georgia's offense is so much more electric Carson Beck is much better than Drew Aller Georgia's offensive line which returns Tate rattled and other players as well even despite losing amarius Mims and Cedric vanran they're better than a Penn State offensive line that only returns their two starting guards and that wasn't an elite unit last year like Georgia Georgia also has Malachi Starks back along with several Elite secondary players while Penn State is Young at that position and most importantly it's Kirby Smart versus James Franklin you have the top demon at beating top 10 teams versus the coach who constantly fumbles around and chokes against top 10 teams and it's in the Sugar Bowl which is going to be essentially a home game for Georgia the spread on this one much like Utah vers Alabama will probably be big although maybe smaller because Penn State will be viewed in much better light than Utah but Georgia Will Come Away with this one I think fairly easily Georgia is a lead on offense I think they'll be a lead on defense after having somewhat of a Down year last season Penn State I think they'll be great near Elite on defense with the potential to be elite and while the offense will be explosive and this team will be better on that side of the ball compared to last year when you're running into Georgia you have to be near Elite to Elite everywhere including at the head coaching position and the game management position and those are areas that I question with Penn State and their receiver room also has some ANS aners that are needed and I don't know if they'll be answered in a positive way I have Michigan beating Miami in the peach bow this will be like a home field for Miami but I say that with paus is because Miami cannot even get fans to show up in their own home stadium and Michigan fans will travel so maybe this will be a true neutral sight game or maybe almost in a humiliating way a Michigan home game I think Michigan is much better than Miami out of all the teams that are receiving Buys in the first round who will start their play in the playoff in the second round the top four Conference champions Miami is the worst they're inferior to Utah in my mind and they're wildly inferior to Ohio State and Georgia Michigan is pretty close with Ohio State and Georgia and better than Utah in my mind Michigan like I said earlier Elite in the trenches especially along the defensive line they have underrated linebackers an elite secondary that is added depth Alex orgy a quarterback who can run along with Donovan Edwards an All-American tight end in Colston Loveland in an offensive line that will come closer to reloading rather than taking a step back this is all against a Miami defense that got Sime andbro in the portal had some great play along the lines of scrimmage last year including a a true freshman defensive end who really came out on fire and is going to be a good player and on offense they brought in Damen Martinez at running back cam Ward they returned Xavier Restrepo bring in Sam Brown from Houston and their offensive line with Coach Alex Mirabal is going to reload even though they lost starters much like Michigan did the difference here is Michigan is proven on defense meanwhile Miami struggled last season Michigan should have one of the best defenses in the country and their offense will still be great at running the ball and that will test a new Miami defensive front Michigan's receivers and quarterback depending on how the passing game performs I think it will be average it'll be able to at least with their tight end Loveland keep Miami's defense honest in the pass and run defense and I think Chiron Moore straight up is a better game manager than Mario christall is christall is great at recruiting great at development I say he's great at making his team physical one thing he's not good at doing is calculating decisions and that's all Chiron Moore did last year when he filled in for Harbaugh when Harbaugh was suspended so I think Michigan wins here not as big as they did against Iowa but I think they win regardless and by a sizable margin and in the Rose Bowl we have number two Ohio State playing Florida State now this game I think is going to be very intriguing very intriguing you have two teams that have high ceilings on offense but just enough questions there to where I think they're going to lean on their defense and be rather conservative in doing so at least Ohio state will I think Florida State's probably a more aggressive team going off of last year compared to Ohio State but with Chip Kelly you never know maybe Ohio state turns up the aggression just one notch or 10 notches or they go a full 360 on the radio dial and they're one of the most aggressive teams in the country I think that these teams will try to ground and pound try to bait each other into getting explosive passing offenses with their highly recruited receivers Ohio State's much more proven at wide receiver they also return more production than Florida State Ohio State's in the top 50 of returning production or top 60 Florida States outside of the top 75 Ohio State's recruited better I think day as of now is a better head coach than Mike norell though I understand why some would debate that and Jim nolles he's up there with Adam Fuller in fact I think better than Adam Fuller in terms of Defense Ohio State per Bill Connelly's S&P plus had the third I think third best defense of or not the third best defense but one of the best defenses of the two thousands of this Century Ohio state was up there along with last year's Michigan 2011 Alabama 2021 Georgia you name it and most of those starters come back Ohio state is just a bit better at every position except for the offensive line and that could come to bite them against a Florida State team that again will want to run the ball and with Mike Norvell and Alex Atkins they're going to come with a game plan to try and Achieve what I think could could be their second college football playoff win but I think Ohio state with their Superior Talent better coaching and all that being said we'll wear them down eventually and come out in a low-scoring affair in which the Buckeyes on top of winning the Big 10 for the first time since 2020 they'll Semifinal Matchup And National Championship Predictions win a college football playoff game for the first time since that year as well and for the semi-final games I have Georgia beating Utah and I have Mig beating Ohio State Georgia beating Utah is pretty simple Utah uses their Mulligan they use all their skills they pull all the tricks out of the Hat they put all their cards all their chips on the table against Alabama only to essentially be a sacrificial lamb to Georgia that is what I think is going to happen now for Michigan and Ohio State it's a bit different I think that this game is close I think that Michigan pulls away because of some matchup advantages the Wolverines still have and Michigan knows what it's like to win college football playoff games this would be their fourth consecutive appearance in the college football playoff and also when facing Ohio State they they'd be on Win number four in a row in college football playoff games Ohio State doesn't exactly know what it's like to be in the playoff or at least win a playoff game and I think beating Michigan winning the Big 10 winning the Rose Bowl you might see an an emotional letdown but that's not why I'm picking Michigan to win Michigan has a better defensive line a better offensive line and I don't see Ryan Day beating this team twice I picked Ohio State to beat Michigan because they're hosting Michigan in Columbus and Ohio State you can tell they're angry they want to beat Michigan and with a new quarterback in Alex orgy playing in Columbus he can get rattled same with an offensive line that's going to be completely new in terms of regular season starters but Michigan will have more experience more veteran see when they play Ohio State the second time around and it will be a neutral field it will no longer be hostile hornet nest that is the Horseshoe and I think that along with what will be a more consistent Run game a defense that's better at stopping the run and still has a pretty high ceiling and will be pretty damn good at stopping the pass that will shut down will Howard and Ohio State's offense and Michigan through grounding and pounding controlling the clock and doing what Ryan Day hates will win their semi-final game against the Buckeyes briefly going back to Georgia and Utah Georgia I think is one of the most impressive teams teams in the country on paper and while Utah I'm very much impressed with their staff they don't have nearly the talent that Georgia does and Georgia knows how to win in the postseason Kirby Smart has only lost two postseason games in 2017 in the national championship game and Texas in the Sugar Bowl in 2018 they are going to win win win and against a team like Utah I'm telling you Georgia is better at every every single position every single position compared to Utah and that's why they'll destroy them and they're better than Michigan at most positions I think except for defensive tackle maybe defensive end maybe starting corner with Will Johnson but I think Georgia still has better depth at corner and at running back Georgia brought in Trevor etn and as I've already talked about they have Carson Beck they have Benjamin URC and Oscar Delp as weapon s they have Rahat Thomas and Dominic love it and their defense they return Warren Brinson nazier stack house myel Williams so their defensive line will be better than last season they're Michigan's nightmare matchup because they're basically Michigan but better at every position except for the defensive line and Kirby Smart better head coach than Chiron Moore I think everyone can agree with that I think Georgia is the best team in college football that's why I'm picking them to win it all Ohio State and I would say Oregon just because of Oregon's aggressive nature and the fact that they do have a high ceiling on defense also Alabama those three teams probably have a better shot at taking down Georgia than Michigan but Michigan has something that I don't necessarily think Oregon and potentially Alabama will have they have Supreme consistency and I think that will help them against not just the the Iowa of the world or the Miami of the world but even the Utah of the world Michigan's consistent they'll be able to handle I think a consistent team like Utah and they match up well against Ohio State who just has some questions in terms of the offensive line and consequentially the trenches but I think that Georgia Michigan will be the national championship game and ultimately it will be the Bulldogs and not the Wolverines Who come out on top and join Georgia like in all the games I'm predicting them to win in the first year of the 12 team playoff they'll probably win this game in semi-dominant to dominant fashion thank you all so much for watching this video remember to
