[Music] welcome to Houston sports talk with your host Robert land thanks for checking into the best Houston sports podcast part of the believe Network check out believe in Astros with Mike sttinton believe in Texans with Cecil Shorts and joining me is my co-host Stephen Kerr 65 plus years in sports journalism between the two of us later in the show we get into lies the Astros keep telling us and if Justin berlander should start a playoff game interesting question but Stephen Texans football starts Sunday I can't believe they're two and a half Point favorites in India and 85% of the money is coming in on your Texans does that scare you a little bit yes it absolutely does Robert because you know how this goes right if you set a team up to not be the underdog in other words to be the favorite and they stub their toe it makes them look bad but you know what I mean you can also look at it this way that the Texans are getting the recognition they deserve nationally at least based off of last year now after the first week might be reversed but well yes I I am scared a bit that they are favorites because it doesn't often go well with them I I have to say I'm kind of proud because at least the national media is looking at a Houston team regardless of who it is on the positive side for a change and Vegas means more than even National media because they're right looking at the money they can make so it's they're kind of guessing on you know how the Texans are going to do yeah and you know Vegas is gu right more often than we may think I mean I don't have numbers in front of me to prove it but it's always a week toe thing so yeah this weekend I'm a little bit apprehensive but but I'll take it yeah Vegas I'm sure must kind of like the fact that all the money's coming in on the Texans because it seems like that's a good sign for them a lot of times if everybody feels one way it sometimes happens a totally different way you know the Texans unofficial depth chart is out and a couple things caught my eye Stephen Damen Pierce listed as running back two and the kickoff return specialist cam acres is listed at running back four behind Dar oun Bale does that surprise you at all yeah a little bit I mean first of all even having Pierce at number two I mean as I said before I didn't get the sense the Texans wanted to trade him or cut him despite what fans feel that they should do but the fact that they have him listed second I guess you know you cannot say Robert if this thing ends badly with Pierce okay you cannot say that the Texans didn't give him enough of a chance to prove himself there there's no way we're going to sit here and say that if Damen Pierce falls on his face he ends up getting cut traded you know lands with another team the Texans are giving him every opportunity to be on this roster and contribute so it's going to be up to him to do it and the fact that they put him number two it is a bit surprising so he's certainly getting his chance I guess if he's legitimately running back to then you know he's going to have a shot but I'm probably more surprised that acres is listed at four behind Dar you know sometimes these depth charts mean nothing but I just I just kind of find it interesting because that's kind of what the iest said in preseason Stephen he was playing a lot and dar it seemed like you know he was all good they're like yeah we don't need to play Dar a lot so maybe maybe that's the case I don't know well I think you will see enough of Acres I mean I think he going to get his touches yeah it's interesting that depth charts I don't put a lot of stock in them myself but you know when when you come out with one like that it does kind of raise your eyebrows a bit I mean that would be like I don't know ranking tank Dell ahead of say Nico Collins and Stefon digs for instance at least if you're talking about the depth chart another little interesting tidbit from the depth chart Stephen Sims is the punt return specialist with tank Dell listed as his backup no surprise there Sims is the backup for kickoffs though Pierce is at the number one spot for kickoffs we'll see if he can hold on to that I also notice there's no fullback listed on the depth chart British Brooks is only listed as fifth Stephen on just the running back list well I don't think that's too surprising that I I do think that they can use him meaning British Brooks in the fullback I mean he's he's got the ability to jump around at both of those positions now getting to pierce see that's where I figured if Pierce is really going to try to make his Mark it's it's going to be as a returner and they're giving him again they're giving him every opportunity toh do this with the kickoff returns so it's going to be up to him so I mean he's definitely somebody we're g to watch and I know we're going to get to that here in a minute but he is getting chances to do multiple things on the Texans so let's get into it a little bit this game and I guess I I have to ask you like what is the Texans potential Kryptonite Stephen my concern is Henry tooa trying to tackle Jonathan Taylor and Anthony Richardson um outside of weird offensive turnovers it's the only way the Colts score is if those two guys get going on the ground I'm just not seeing them doing it as much through the air the ground is where they've killed us in the past right it it is for sure and you have a guy like Taylor you know that that is always going to be a threat you know Anthony Richardson I I'm I mean I would be a little bit concerned about the passing game at least from the secondary standpoint just because I want to make sure these guys really are going to turn out the way we hope we will but you know Richardson I think still has a little proving to do he he got injured quite a bit last year of course in that first game with the Colts last year he hit the turf hard after scoring a touchdown went out with a concussion then he ended up with a shoulder injury you know later in the season so yeah I think just stopping the run I mean that for a team like the Colts and Jonathan Taylor that that is definitely going to be it I think with the Texans and the other Robert I'd say you always worry about this I guess with every team at the beginning of the Season penalties penalties penalties the Texans have just got to minimize those penalties those sloppy stupid penalties is what I'm talking about especially at the first game of the season you know if it's a close game that could make a difference too that's the only thing that you're concerned about I guess besides what I what I was talking about or did you have any other issues that you were worried about going into this one well I I still you know have a few questions about the secondary and of course you know the linebacker position I am obviously worried about that with Christian Harris being out you know how much are the Colts going to be able to exploit that so now it's that would be my other area yeah we talked about that just a little bit but let's go to uh the three Texans that you would be focusing on most this game Stephen so which three and assuming he plays I'm just gonna throw out my first one it's Will Anderson how good does he look after the injury who's your first guy yeah well he he was one of my guys for sure because we still don't know if he's even going to play I mean Domo Ryan is still being kind of evasive and you understand why you don't want to tip the hand of the Colts he's going to be or not but it is something to keep an eye on is he even going to play and if he does is he going to be the Will Anderson that we saw last year and making strides this year so he's definitely one of them Damen Pierce I mean we talked about him I'm definitely going to be watching him is is he going to finally be able to thrive in one or both of the opportunities he's being given both as the kick return specialist that we talked about and as the second running back my number two is Kenyan green is the new Kenyon for real and I keep mentioning him Stephen because you know it just feels like he's the key cog in this offensive line if it's really gonna make a stride well certainly and and the biggest thing is is he G to stay healthy that is going to make such a difference with that offensive line I I mentioned you know two of my guys already so I guess this is my number three I'm I want to see how Stefan dicks does in a Texans uniform you know there there's so much made about him being a diva and this that and the other I want to see if he's going to continue that Pro Bowl Pace in a Texans uniform with c J St throwing him the ball I mean I'm pretty confident that he will but every season is different Robert so he he's the one that I think intrigues me about as much on offense as anybody else and if anybody missed it the key news was that Stefon Diggs was named one of the captains so you know they think a lot of them obviously he's a leader out there we've seen it during training camp my number three that I'm really focusing on hard is rookie Kamari lter because rookie quarterbacks can be scary Stephen remember Kareem Jackson as a rookie oh yes I do yeah pretty darn good and I know Kamari L yeah just a little bit now Kamari ler we didn't see a lot of him in the preseason so I think it is going to be kind of a question of you know what is this going to be like you heard about him like during OTAs and part of training camp you know he's he's got that attitude he's got that Moxy that I think the Texans need on defense now you be question is can he back it up well you know judging from what coach Ryan and everyone else is saying on the team it looks like he can and let's hope he can so you've got the Texans what they they go ahead and take this game 35 to nothing 35 to three what do you have well you know me being scared that they're a two and a half Point favorite I'm certainly not going to pick them 35 to nothing no I'm I I you know what I'm I'm gonna go I'm gonna say I'll go over I'm gonna say it's a three-point Victory you're gonna take the over after all that yeah I'm gonna take the over yeah that's interesting uh or at least the uh spread I don't know what the over under was I haven't checked that yet yeah that I haven't seen but I'm I'm going to get I think it's going to be a close game but I I will say three this is a good time to just remind everybody we've got our live Texans postgame shows right after every game this year Tom shavar and I break it all down and in case you missed it I had Rockets analyst Frank with rockets Chop Shop yesterday we hit on their schedule their win total and playoff chances tomorrow I'm going Behind Enemy Lines with Colts expert Lawrence Owen great Insight from the believe in Colts host keep an eye out for that one you can support us by giving us a thumbs up commenting and subscribing for free on YouTube or your favorite podcast app hopefully both of those all right Stephen turns out Kyle Tucker had a shin fracture not just a contusion Dana Brown denied it as recently as Saturday why can't the best organization in baseball not constantly lie about their players health I don't get it yeah I I don't know Robert I mean you know they can sit here probably and say well we didn't really know until recently I I don't see how that can be I mean in football you know they do it quite a bit from week to week because obviously you don't want to tip your hand about whether they're going to play or not but this is baseball this is this is not the same thing and the problem with hiding injuries or you know covering them up twisting the story around lying whatever you want to call it problem with that Robert is that all it does just makes people speculate you know they're going to sit here well he's been out three months you telling me a shin contusion takes that long and they'll even have experts come in and say well yeah it can it kind of depends and blah blah blah why why can't you just come out and say what's going on you can talk about it's a private thing with a player look these players are not private they're public figures we talk about politicians and movie stars and musicians and athletes all the time so yeah why why can't we just be straightforward with the injuries get it out there you don't have to go into all the detail but just say if he has a a shin fracture just say it he's going to be out indefinitely that's all you have to do it's not that complicated and it makes Kyle Tucker not look great in front of the Astros fans if you're like everybody's asking what's wrong with him why can't he recover quickly I mean this doesn't seem like it's that big a deal I also feel like an organization that's already you know sort of gotten this reputation is not honest to begin with as cheating as we know you know as much as we don't like that I whole idea that is just the Astros it just it's it's not a good look and two years ago James click promised a comprehensive review of what he called the club's quote return to play procedure after admitting admitting the club rushed Jake Meers back from offseason shoulder surgery we have no idea if that review ever happened the Athletics Chandler Rome pointed out that some organizations unlike the Astros allow their medical staff to actually answer media questions yeah just this season six Astros Stephen have had major setbacks after an injury AR aier and France needed season ending surgeries Stephen I just got to say um you know Tucker was quoted that he was happy with how they were handled but it just does a little bit worry you what's going on well of course he's going to say that publicly and let's not forget that up until recently they prevented Kyle from answering any questions to the media they kept him out of it now I think he did talk to them recently but even then it didn't come out so who knows you know maybe they said you're not supposed to say a word about this at all I I mean Robert you know the the harder the the longer something goes on you know how it is if you tell a lie you got to work that much harder to tell another one to cover that one up tell another one to cover that one up or or at least at the at the very least just keep kind of Heming and haing around trying to find other creative ways to keep saying the same thing when it's obvious that in today's you know thing of social media that you know things get leaked out a whole lot more it's just not a good idea at least in my mind yeah and and if I'm the Astros you you got to look at what's going to happen once you do this on a regular basis you know Chandler Rome or the others covering the Astros now and they should constantly ask questions every single day are you sure this guy's going to be out a week are you sure this guy's going to be out two weeks are you sure about the injury like if you if you want to get annoyed constantly if you want to tick off your manager by putting him in this stupid situation where it's just one lie after another that he's got to go up after games and press conferences and make these kind of you know statements not knowing really what's going on it it it all looks terrible and and look of all the AST um Mysteries when you look at all the them that's H that's been happening it just scares you to death on bregman and the issues that he has heading towards October Stephen I'm scared like what's gonna happen with him well you know that was something else I kind of wanted to hit on you know separate from this but before I do let me just say this you know it's kind of like the old story Robert you probably read it in elementary school the boy who cried wolf you know eventually you you keep calling the the people of the Town out when you're saying wolves are attacking the sheep and there is no wolf well eventually people aren't going to believe anything you tell them whether it be good or bad so yeah I just think that what a review that needs to take place is the policy of how you talk about your injuries now getting Alex bregman I mean that's something Robert that it really does concern me especially how many times do we talk about how important defense is and how magnified it is in the playoffs you know is bregman even going to be ready for that when the playoffs get here is he going to be able to ready to play Third Base much less swing the back fully if if he's not that's definitely going to be a worry that you don't have your main guy in the hot corner and or in the lineup because of the sore elbow so now you know with this whole thing with Kyle Tucker is it really a sore elbow or is there more than that Alex bregman and let's flip it to the playoffs and like where do they go from there we were talking about lineups and what happens well if Alex bregman can't play the field maybe he can still hit you can put duban at third base and you know DH bregman but it it leaves you less room on what you can do at other positions you can't platoon duban and Singleton now unless you want to bring in somebody like witcom or denzo who both looked pretty poor defensively at third base right now and then you know you don't have that option of dubon in the Outfield left field I assume would be the obvious position because you know I think they think Jake Myers is the guy in center field no matter what just because of his defense yeah that's absolutely right and that's where you really start to worry because it does limit your options yeah you know Wickam the other day when he came in for bregman after bregman left the game he definitely looked shaky there there were a couple of balls I think he charged one that got by him and then another one where he just kind of hesitated so he he doesn't look comfortable at third base which is kind of interesting because we you know we keep looking at him as the air parent of bregman if he walks next year but yeah and I said I said it in the in the previous show or yeah you did I I was like this guy just a reminder him and Des senzo have have barely played third base in the minor leagues as as much as we would like them to be the third baseman they don't have experience even in the minors yeah and as much as you want their bats in the lineup you know the guy in the hot corner you want them to hit well they still have to play the hot corner so that that is a big deal let's flip it to the positives and it's mostly positive right now funny thing is you know we should be talking about the six-game league that they have in the ALS the great turnaround the story and all that and it's unfortunate that you know because of the lying and the bad medical stuff that's going on in the organization we're talking about this other stuff but Stephen the stat that's blown everybody away the Astros pitching at the best batting average against in a month in a one- Monon span since May of 1968 which you historians will note that that was a tremendous year for pitching around baseball they actually changed the rules not long after that to get offense a little bit better and it's the second best month this month in August was the second best month by any staff batting average against in MLB history yeah I mean it's something when you think about just what in what bad shape the pitching staff was in you know two or three months ago and with all the injuries you know that are still kind of piling up it's amazing and I know we've talked about some of these guys over the past few shows Robert Hunter Brown the way he's been pitching fber has become the fber that we we keep wanting him to be and you say Kikuchi I mean you know some people really knock this trade but come on the Astros are six and0 in games that you say Kikuchi has started so you know and his last start especially was was really something and it it's just really nice to see Robert from a starting rotation that quite honestly was in shambles for the longest time and that sort of leads us beautifully into our next question Stephen for you and our listeners and I know we still have four weeks to go so lots can change but if the Astros are playing in the Wild Card which is the likely scenario should Hall of Famer justtin berlander pitch one of the three games now Stephen I'm going to say to begin with fber and Hunter have to go in games one and two it was unanimous that fber was the number one pitcher on a Twitter poll that I put out borrowing a slump from those two guys you would think that's where they should line up but if you go to a third and deciding game how comfortable could you possibly be with Verlander over Kikuchi or even erti the way he's pitched yeah I I don't envy Joe asata trying to make that decision but if you ask me the question if you know should he well based on what he's done so far and certainly based on his performance on Labor Day when he couldn't get out of the fifth inning no will he probably because you know the Astros are going to want somehow to have I mean unless he is just so terrible that he he gets roughed up you know going three Innings the rest of the season the Astros are probably gonna find a way to put him in there but you know if you look at the numbers especially what you just said the last couple months with the the staff and the ER and how they've been pitching how can you justify putting Verlander you know at least during the Wild Card series how can you justify him putting in that top three I I just don't see it he's also struggled in the postseason for the most part in the last few opportunities that he's had and look I mean Justin Verlander it's one thing to throw him out there in game one or two and this is where it gets really complicated that's why I brought this up it's so complicated because there's no way he's been better than Hunter Brown and fber and if unless there's some sort of but major thing that happens here in the next four weeks there's a big difference those two guys have got to be the top two and the thing that scares me the most is him being on the mound for the deciding game three if you get there in the wild card as a guy that's looked at times like maybe he's lost a little bit he's definitely the fifth worst pitcher on this staff and if we're being honest maybe he's even worse than ryel Blanco well I mean yeah we had we didn't even talk about Blanco and you know here's here's the question though that I think we have to consider is arti is a rookie and yeah he's pitched better of late but is he ready mentally ready for a game three wild card situation you know whether they're up two or whether it's a deciding game do you throw a guy like arti in there and and even Kikuchi I mean what is his playoff scenario gonna look like so you know I I wouldn't say it's a hard and fast thing but it's something youve got to look at especially the way Verlander has come back or hasn't you know with the neck problem just hasn't looked like the Verlander we're used to seeing I want to hear from you out there what do you guys think get in the comments we want to hear what you think about Verlander pitching in the wild card because that is definitely a major storyline that's gonna be out there in a month potentially one of the best storylines going though we talked about it a little bit but you say Kikuchi 0 N4 whip 2.57 R but I'm not just talking about his pitching Stephen I'm talking about the pitching combined with that song Stay by Lisa low which we hear every time Kikuchi strikes I mentioned it remember I tried to sing it and you about booted me off the podcast well you're not the only one that's tried to sing it it's you know Jeremy peña's done it Ric's done it in the post game and it's not the whole song just the first two words you say yes of course is the the song starts off with and that tradition started back in Toronto if if everybody did not know the story and I got to explain why this is so cool sort of kismi what's going on with him right now here in Houston and if you don't know the story behind the song uh here you go Stephen stay became a hit because of Houston the actor Ethan Hawk was living across the street from Lisa Lobe in the early 90s he goes to see her perform hears that song and sends Ben Stiller a tape anybody remember her tapes uh he thought he'd be perfect for the movie Reality Bites that Stiller was directing Hawk was starring in as you oldtimers and movie Buffs remember Reality Bites was set in Houston and filmed mostly in Houston but here's the best part when the movie comes out they send the album to a bunch of stations around the country I mean the whole soundtrack not just Lisa L single it was a Houston Station which started playing stay on the radio other stations pick it up and lo and behold it goes to number one in the country exactly 30 years ago to the week Kikuchi made his Astros debut Lisa Lobe became the first artist in top 40 history to have a number one song as An unsigned recording artist so Stephen it's all because because if youst it's all fitting it just it gets right back here he gets right back here and it's magic for both Kikuchi and Lisa man isn't that something well no wonder he's been pitching so well in the Astros of I mean it's all just worked together in concert Robert for the way the season is is turning out lately for the Astros and and for Kikuchi that that is a great story and of course no pun intended it's music to my ears being a former radio broadcaster and working you know in a station that I think we even played the song back when it first came out or at least sometime after so yeah every time that I hear the song you say now I think of Kikuchi so there you go it all ties together if you go watch the video it's Ethan Hawk directing the video it was his idea to do just a one shot one camera and they never cut there's no editing it's like there's that famous scene and Good Fellows where the camera just follows around that's you know sort of similar to what Lisa loes does in the video um not not quite as much movement but still pretty cool I also want to send our listeners to a YouTube video after you finish watching us L tells some of that story on Howard Stern so look at on his channel and he follows it up with this or she it up with this incredible acoustic version of this song and Stephen I heard an interview from Kikuchi in Toronto where they asked him what he thought when they first played the song after a strikeout he said it was his quote favorite baseball moment and hey maybe it's fitting kikuchi's bringing back the 90s because he still reads books remember those he reads 200 a year real books made of paper not things of paper that you can hold in your hands yeah he does the Kindle thing you know I do run into some people that still do that by the way well Robert your homework assignment between now and the next time that we podcast is to come up with a parody of that song with you say Kikuchi in it so I I mean I'm waiting for somebody to do that I'm surprised hadn't happened yet maybe it has I had to lay off my parody person because of uh Financial constraints but yeah I thought you were gonna say your you're your assignment is to go read a a book with paper and I was like with paper well that too yeah I I could probably need to go to my bookshelf see if I still have any all right one one other thing on the Astros Stephen and and I'm a little frustrated with Astros fans this weekend I want you can you be an Arbiter and and tell me if I'm overreacting a little bit on this take I maybe I am I don't know all right here's the deal the Royals sign ulie Saturday and start them Sunday the Astros do a really nice video tribute before the game that they probably had to just throw together at the last minute and I'd say the Ovation was fine but it's before the game so not everybody's in their seat Julie comes to the plate for the first time and I'm going to say maybe you know some of the people uh stand up but I looking at the television I was like why why aren't people standing up and giving them a huge loud o Ovation get out of your seats like you do with that lame wave every game come on we're talking about one of the most clutch hitters in Astros history he won a batting thought Gold Glove helped lead us to four LCS appearances and the only two franchise championships he's barely played in the majors the last two seasons so this was likely his last major league game at minute made Park and his first trip back is it too much Stephen to ask for a huge Standing Ovation when he came to the plague yes it is Robert I got to disagree with you on that now the before the game yes absolutely you give the guy an ovation you give him a video tribute with all the Astros memories but during the game especially you know when the Astros are in a position to win a game and he comes up to the plate to me it's a total toally different Factor you don't need to stand up and and give the guy an ovation you already did that well you don't have to cheer him hitting a home run or or getting an RBI just cheer him when he comes up to the plate I mean this is one game in 162 and I get every game matters yeah but I mean I mean if you cheer him like is that gonna lead him to no I don't think it's harmful to do it but I I can't get on the Astros fans for not doing I mean if they had done it you know okay fine I I wouldn't have a problem with it but I don't think it's I'm just I don't think it's that big of a deal of the fact that they did not do it during the game what if it was Craig beio with another team or or somebody like a future Hall of Famer would you well they probably do the same thing and of course depending on how you leave the team and of course in Julie's case it wasn't anything negative you're not gonna Boo the guy certainly you know so yeah I don't know I mean it I just I can't get too upset that they didn't but if they had then yeah they absolutely I mean it would have been it would have been just fine it would have made sense even but yeah I I honestly didn't think about it when they didn't I consider the St Louis Cardinal fans whatever you think of the franchise and I know a lot of old school Houston fans were used to hating the Cardinals and everything about them because that was a kind of a rivalry back about 20 years ago but you can't argue they're best fans in baseball and they would have been standing for their guy coming back I I just you know I think yeah they certainly would what would their fans do and I I just you know I go like what would the good fans do and I'm like well that's what the good fans I don't know I just I differ I differ on this one yeah yeah we do differ on this one so uh last thing I've got is uh Willie Fritz making his coaching debut for the cougs and Stephen it was not pretty UNLV is legit I get it Fritz definitely inherited as disaster but I'm wondering if this group's got more than one win in them this year the only game I'm sure they'll be favored in is rice and remember the alow won last year with that yeah probably being a more talented cougar team it it's easy Robert to to jump on the bandwagon and say man it's going to be another long season for the Cougars we were expecting a whole lot but I don't know it's it's hard to say I mean yeah unlb is legit but are they that great of a team that you're gonna lose 27 to7 you can only score seven points against them I I don't see that I mean I I didn't expect I don't expect the Cougars necessarily to go to a bowl game this year but I certainly expect them to do better than they did and boy they they definitely didn't show it in the first game so it is very disappointing it's just it it takes a lot of the wind out of the saes with all the excitement of Willie Fritz coming in and you know hoping that the team will have a much better look well it's just one game but boy it just was so disappointing to see that they start the season that way so now you're gonna have to really show them something the next week and then even the rest of the season but I I gota just you know keep my confidence in Willie Fritz until he shows me otherwise the offensive line was a catastrophe David Carr thought the offensive line was a catastrophe I mean that's that's how bad I'm I'm thinking it was and Donovan Smith you know obviously no help from the old line but he did not look healthy I was not really his biggest fan last year but he never looked quite that bad no and he was you know had been injured last year and you thought that he might be ready so I'm wondering how long it's going to take them before they make a move perhaps and you know put in someone else a quarterback and would they only get 38 yards on the ground you know that again that could be attributed to the offensive line as much as anything else but yeah you certainly cannot have an offensive performance like that and expect to win more than one game this year man I I I just was hoping that at least they would look a little bit I don't know more confident this year overall and I just didn't realize I guess maybe how bad that roster had gotten because he he he basically was given the empty cover he really was and that's why I do say you know cougar fans just got to be patient you know this is what he inherited yes I know you can you can turn things around easier or quicker anyway with the transfer portal and this that and the other but it goes both ways you know you you lose a lot of players from the transfer portal when a coach leaves so it it could go either way so let's you know let's give him a little more time it was one game you get two or three games in and they show this then you definitely have something to talk about and you know you could say that for the &m Robert I mean they were playing a team L Notre Dame certainly a a legit Powerhouse team but I know the agie fans were feeling the same way about Mike Elko coming in and yet they fall on their face and got a very disappointing play at quarterback so really at this moment at least after game one the Texas Longhorns are the team that you're kind of looking at and saying hey maybe you know maybe they're not going to fall on their face after having a great year last year but again it's just one game Michigan right we got Michigan next Michigan is next week that's going to be tough now Michigan didn't exactly they won 30 to1 but they didn't exactly roll over on their opponents so that's where you're G to find out what kind of team Texas is made of when you play a team who won the national championship last year um yeah let's talk about Missouri what what's Missouri gonna do this year I'm not a Michigan fan but I love the fight song well have a good fight song we start off pretty good it was a big huge blowout against Murray State they're they're uh they were ranked 11th last I looked and uh they they took care of business in their first game and of course keep in mind that it was the old Missouri head coach that has really done a job at UNLV and you know he orchestrated that win against the Cougars Barry odm has done a really nice job over there he struggled at Missouri but it seems like he's maybe making it work over at UNLV um I'm gonna throw up a link as in the next few seconds as soon as we're done with Frank from Rockets chop shop and my Rockets sort of kind of a preview we pretty soon Robert yeah it's it's we're we're as I mentioned to him we're just five weeks away from from the first preseason game and then also uh don't forget we've got that uh really good interview with Lawrence Owen going into you know the Colts Texans from the Colts angle uh another Rockets show is coming up soon I have another guest uh who is scheduled hopefully uh that will be in the next few days that's the way I'm planning it and of course the Texans postgame show so stay tuned for Houston Sports Talk always good to have you guys and once again get in those comments we definitely want to hear from you what you're thinking about
